You should go to the USCIS Field office and ask them to call the Service Centre. My file did not reach the NVC either. The issue is that they dont have a system to inform you if the file goes missing and you have to go bug them to get things moving.

Contacting the congressman is a good idea. In my case, the USCIS field office was pretty close to my office and it was easy for me to go there and bug them. I did contact the congressman and he did the same. Called the service centre and made them physically go look in my file and discovered that the application was missing.

Good luck man. I know what you are going through. The good news is that since they have already approved the petition, all they have to do is reconstruct the case and send you a new approval.

wow so i guess im not the only one. i called the national visa center today and they told me i should i allow 90 days before calling them..USCIS their office is really far away from me so i cant go there in person. ill call them again lets see what they have to say. thank you so much for all the information

I think you should not go to congressman office directly ... speak with congressman office on phone and then write them email and just not include congressman we included 2 senetors and 1 congressman of KY bcz my wife is from KY . if you think i can help u in that matter write me . i will reply with the best knowledge what we have with the nvc and one more thing about NVC every time when u will call they will say 2 weeks and those 2 weeks took us up to 14 weeks in end we were tired and we involved congressman .

You need to contact the congrassman from the state that USC spouse lives in. Look at this link:

I had three jobs and did not submit any employment letters. I submitted about 6 months of paystubs which was probably overkill. The letters are optional.

There is an office in San Isidro. My papers where lost once when my relatives in Peru did not put my zip code on the documents. I called UPS and they had the documents sent to me with no further problems.

I have been reading this site for a couple of months now and have gotten alot of very good information and tips from it. I am about to submit my I-130 and would just like some feedback on the items that I am going to send. I would feel much more confident about sending this in with some comments from people who have been there and done that. Any advice would be appreciated!! Just some background information, my husband is from Peru, we were married almost 3 months ago, and we are applying for the K-3 so we can be reunited quicker.

I am in the same boat. I was married to my husband in May of 08 and we don't have kids together yet. I sent all the required documents and for the "Evidence of a Bonafide Marriage" I sent:
~pictures
~Letters of Affidavit from people who where at our wedding
~My own affidavit stating our marriage was not done for immigration purposes
~copies of western union transfers
~a few copies of emails, letters, and phone records

As Pushbark said I don't think all those things are really necessary but I preferred to be over prepared. Good luck on your process good.gif

You have just started the process you need to be patient. I know that is hard to hear but there is nothing that any of us can do. You are in the Vermont service center. Prepare yourself for a long wait. I have been waiting for 4 months and there are many people who have been waiting for 6 or 7 months just to get an approval from Vermont. For some people the process is taking about 1 year. I am not trying to scare but to let you know a realistic time line. Try to be patient. I think the best advise I can give for the pain is to keep yourself busy. Get a couple of jobs and take some classes. When your always busy there is not enough time to think about the pain. From my understanding of the process, the K3 and CR1 are taking roughly about the same time for processing. I can tell you the CR1 is by far a better visa because when your spouse enters the country they can work, get a drivers license, or go to school much much faster then with a K3. Also the CR1 is much cheaper.

Some people file for both and then just go with which ever visa is approved faster, but the choice is yours.

You are applying to the California service center so this process will be much faster for you. Congrats and good luck! good.gif

The DS-3032 and DS-230 are two different forms. You can email the DS-3032 only! The DS-3032 should be sent by the foreign spouse to the NVC by email once you receive your NVC case number. The DS-230 is mailed later in the NVC process and you can not email it. Look at these short cuts they are very very helpful:

Read both of these short cuts. If you don't understand something post your questions. The short cuts work and they will save you a ton of time. Some one just got through the NVC in 11 days because he was prepared and followed the short cuts.

If you are sending your husband money save all the receipts to prove there is a financial connection. Save all emails, chat logs, and phone records. These all show that you have an ongoing valid relationship. I wouldn't send them with the I-130 but would take all these things with you to the interview.

Exactly, but at some point his student visa ended and he overstayed and became illegal. Later he married an American. If he was illegal before his 26th birthday then he was required to register. In other words if between the ages of 23 and 26 if his tourist visa expired and he got his green card after 26 then he was required to register. The op did not say when his tourist visa expired, so it's hard to say for sure unless this information is provided.
