My husband called USCIS and they told him they never sent out our NOA1 :bonk: They also had the wrong mailing address on file. I'm not sure how because we have had the same mailing address for the entire process. Anyway they did give us our receipt number but we are not in the system yet.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 March 2011 Filers

I should have started the thread with the name in the format like the other months (I-751 March 2011 Filers). I guess a moderator can't do this now? I don't want to confuse people and start more than one thread of the same thing unless they could delete one.??

1. Personal check is fine.
2. Don't bother with the binder. They will just take it out and process it how they need to anyway! We just listed everything on the cover and numbered proof in sections, then a, b, c etc if there were a few things in the section... we marked the corresponding number/letter in the corner of the page and had it all in order as listed.
3. We added supporting photos by arranging them and printing them 3/page with explanations.

Hope that helps!

I agree with A&M and did send personal photos.

Thanks for posting this. I am in the same situation. Almost a month and NOA1. My husband called the USCIS and they said that they never sent the NOA1 to us. :bonk: They are now resending. If we do not get the NOA1 one soon then I will make an info pass appointment. Never thought to do that so thanks for your post!

PhilippinesBringing Birth Control Pills

To try the pill you mean? I would recommend seeing a doctor first before starting. There are so many kinds of birth control pills with different levels of hormones and you need to get the one that suits you. I went to a doc first and made sure I was ok to take it :)

Any type of medications not just birth control. In Peru you don't need a perscription for anything. For example, you can get antibotics by just walking into a pharmacy and asking for them.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVSC - April Approvals
QUOTE (gsebia @ Aug 26 2009, 11:06 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It's been a while since I have been on VJ because it was frustrating.. My Fiance told me today that a friend of hers she met on VJ from the same town in Peru recieved her NA02 today..They had NA01 as of April 22, 2009.. Has anyone seen the prior stats ? Igors list still has 50% approval rate for March - is this typical that VSC jumps around like that..I thought they would process all of March before moving on to April..This has me a bit exited, based on this 1 couple stats, My May 1 2009 NA01 may be approved in less than 5 months..

Gene AND KEILA (PERU)
MET 2.26.2007
ENGAGED 2.16.2009
NA01 .5.1.2009

There is no rhyme or reason to how they process applications. Sometimes people who have been waiting longer are not approved first. However, in my case I monitored other people who sent their I-130 at the same time as mine and was able to determine roughly when I would get an approval. There are no guarantees though. Use the time you are waiting to learn about the next steps. Good luck!

Read everything on this website about the process and ask questions. If you feel that you understand everything and you have a very simple case then you don't need a lawyer. Hiring one would be a waste of money. My husband and I did the entire process by ourselves and would do it again.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsplane tickets for interview
When my husband had his interview. I bought a round trip ticket for him in advance of the interview and set the departure date about a week after the interview. If you have to then you can simply change the flight. Book the flight orginating in Peru and returing to peru. You can choose your seats with most airlines. I just went online and selected two seats next to each other. After he got to the USA I canceled his return portion and got a credit for future travel. good luck with the interview!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresReally needing advice, please help!
As you said that everyone in your family is just at poverty level, I am assuming you have no cosponsor. Immigration does not care if you have a college degree. You can sponsor your husband, but you need to go out and get a job or 2 until you meet the income requirements. You need to prove that you make over the required amount to sponsor him. Right now you need to be making over $18,387 to sponsor your spouse (required amount for 2 people). You need to earn more than $1530 a month. So work a full and part time job. Save your paystubs and you can use them to prove you make enough to sponsor your spouse.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPossible Interview date

My stepdaughters case left the NVC on friday for the Jamaica Embassy does anyone know about how long before we will get an interview date and are we in time for the May interviews.

When my husband was getting his visa two years ago it was always the second week of the month, unless it was an embassy that is slower. Slower embassys, like Lima, Peru, schedule interviews through out the month. So you should know in the next two weeks or so.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNeed guidance post-interview stage

Going to the SS office should not be necessary if the DS230 is properly completed. Of course, it does no harm.

And if they actually send your social security card. When I was going through the process alot of people did not receive their card in the mail. They had to go down and apply for it. Unless things have improved in the two years I would recommend just going down there.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNeed guidance post-interview stage
My husband was able to go to a social security office within 2 weeks of his arrival to get his card. You could try to go to the office in person. You will need to wait at least a week for immigration to process and have you in the system.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresExperience of cold feet before interview?

(I am sort of gasping for air as I am afraid my husband is panicking to a point that he will not go to the interview...)

Pretty normal. It can be a really scarry thing for someone to go to be interviewed about their marriage and to know their future rides on the decision of this one officer. My husband was very nervous and could not sleep the entire night before the interview. He was sure he wouldn't get the visa. Luckily I was there to go with him to the interview and to try to calm him.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresExperience of cold feet before interview?
I am a US Citizen, but I think that leaving your country that you have known your whole life has to be very difficult and stressful. My husband is very family oriented and it took a long time for him to get used to not having family around. Your spouse sounds like he is stressed out about moving to a new country and his new life. All of it is completely unknown to him and he may have an concept of life in the US that is not true. (example negative sterotypes) I think that is completely normal and it will take some time for him to get over it. Of course, there are things you can do to help him with adjusting, example set up a phone plan through google voice or vonage where he can call home whenever he wants, setup a plan to help him takecare of his elderly parents, find him activities to keep him busy, help him make friends when he is here. Really listen to his concerns and make a plan for how you can help. Hope that helps! Good luck on the interview!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresThird Party Affidavit
I had a friend of mine write an affidavit for my I-130. At the time she had not met my husband but knew the relationship was real based on converstaions I had with him in her presenese and her helping me shoping for wedding gown, and taking me to the airport to visit him. I also had letters from people who knew us both in Peru. I didn't have any problems with the letter from my friend. To the interview I took letters from every member of my family explaining why they could not be at my wedding. Although I was asked why they were not there they did not want to see my letters from my family.

Do i have to call some one now to ask ? or what should i do ?

Thanks

Sorry, I am having a hard time understanding what you are saying and your question. I think you said you just got to the USA and changed your address? Did you change your address with USCIS? If not then your green card will go to your old address.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 and Divorce

Hi

I married a girl from Pakistan and now we are near divorce. She wants to give up green card and go back to Pakistan.
1) If I divorce her there will that be a valid divorce?
2) If I marry someone else from Pakistan will that divorce be accepted and my other spouse be granted visa?
3) Since she does not want to stay here, I can't file for a divorce here.

Please help.

Where are you in the process? Is she in the USA with a green card? Have you removed conditions?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAos question

Hi I got a question that I was worried about nobody seem to be answering the question after I posted it on my other topic so I thought I make a topic about the question

Now I want to know do I have to have my re cent job pay stubs??

I am a independent contractor and my current job is going to write me up a letter on my salary and proof that I work for her, I also got a 1099 from her from last year that I filed but I do not have any check stubs from her because she pays me with regular checks from a bank acct.. do I need to send in pay stub or will my 1099 and my job letter from her would be enough??

I also got all 3 of my tax return to I made less than 10,000 08 and 09 but in 2010 i made over 20,000 and I been on my current job for over a year and a couple of months will i be okay???
Is nvc okay with independent contractors jobs to?? I make real good money working as a independent contractor

Paystubs are optional, but your covered because you have your 1099 and letter from your job. Make sure the letter has all the appropriate details and is on company letter head.
I sent 6 months worth of paystubs and got them all back after my interview. Guess they didnt want them!!! haha I wouldn't worry about your 2008, 2009, and 2010 finances. You have to prove that you currently earn enough to support your spouse. So as long as you can prove you make enough then you will be fine.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhen should my husband apply for his Police certificate?

We just received our NOA2 yesterday (well the email anyway) therefore of course this is hot off the presses. I have gather just about everything I think they will be asking us for and am curious to when should my husband send for his police certificate. I just want to be ahead of the game and have everything ready to mail once we are prompted to pay our fees. It will take two weeks for him to mail me the certificate and I am not sure how long Lagos takes to produce the certificate. Can we request it now so when we get a case number and the fees are paid I can just mail it out without waiting for him to then file it and mail it? Or must we wait for a case number to then request the police certificate?

Yep, my husband requested his when we got NOA2. In the case of Peru, it took a week or so for him to get them and mail them to me.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS 230

hi again everyone ... I have a question about the DS-230 documents ... I, the petitioner was previously divorced, my husband the beneficiary has never been married before ... The DS-230 which is mainly for the beneficiary, asks for documents of marriage, beneficiary's birth certificate, etc .... they also ask for a divorce decree if any ...... would that pertain to my divorce decree? I do have an extra certified copy on hand but I didn't know if I should send it or not

thanks for any input

have a great journey

Did you send a copy of your divorce decree with your I-130?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresGetting ready for I-130

By the way, if I'm gonna submit a photocopy of our credit cards (for my wife and me), can I leave only 4 last digits for the card number (since my wife has identical credit card) on that paper? I have no willing to release complete 16-digit number to USCIS (or wherever it might go).

Does anyone have any previous experience on that?

And one more thing. I have my wife's divorce certificate translated into English and notarized in her native country. Will USCIS accept that translation from foreign country? Or should I make a translation here, in the US, and get it notarized?

Thank you

We sent bank bills and credit card statments and marked out our account numbers with a black marker.

All of our documents for the CR-1 visa were translated in Peru. Remember that translations have to have a statement by the translator saying that they are competent in translating the documents. You can also translate them your self if you are fluent in both languages.

Page 2 has translation instructions

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresGetting ready for I-130
Your missing alot of documents if your filling an I-130. Click here and read the instructions.

Specifically you will also need-
- A copy of the birth certificate of the US citizen spouse or Copy of his/her unexpired passport
- A translated copy of your marriage certificate
- Divorce papers for if either spouse was married before (if applicable)
- passport photo of both spouses
- Documents showing comingling of finances (Bank account statements with both names, money transfers, joint credit cards)
- Copy of joint mortgages (if applicable)
- Affidavits of friends and family who know your relationship is valid (optional)
- pictures of husband/wife/baby together (optional)
- notarized letter from US spouse saying the marriage is valid (optional)
- Check for $420

For question #21 I put my husband's address in Peru. We had an appartment that we rented together and I stayed with him during my trips to Peru. I had no problem putting that address. So put the last address you and your husband last lived together.

Good luck!
