you feeling feverish?

Let me take my temperature, unfortunately all I got is a rectal thermometer. ohmy.gif I guess ya gotta do, what ya gotta do. laughing.gif

I partake on a Nurses online forum. I started a post a few days back asking how the 1st yr nursing students were coping. gave them some tips on what books to get AND be prepared for the hands on rectal temperature taking one has to do in lab!! I told them that staff does not publicize this info, as they know students would not attend that lab,lol have 1 student a bit worried, lol (its not a busy forum)

I had a hard time sleeping last night--so turned on the TV and for some unknown reason watched palin's speech. I did like her comment "How can u tel the difference between a Pitiful and a hockey mom?? Lipstick, lol It is by no means original, as I have heard it before, but was still funny

Yeah, no kidding...this tooth thing is hellish...the ongoing pain.
Bleh.
Oh well it is healing.
How long do stitches in your mouth take to "melt"?
Flames??

Up here in Chi-town, the weather has gone from extremely sunny, blue skies and humidity to wind and dark clouds.
It's supposed to cool off big time and rain and thunderstorms for days to come.
It feels ominous this morning.
Electric.

Yes it is hurricane season and my friends that live on their boats in the Virgin Islands, Miami and Fort Lauderdale...I am thinking of them, too.
Gustav is almost over and we have Hanna, Ike and Josephine.
That last name is my favourite...said with l'accent francais.
And please remember hurricanes have no sex! laughing.gif

Too be honest Im not sure. I believe there are various type of dissoluble suture's and I believe most oral oneswill disappear in 7-10 days!! One's that are outside the mouth typically dissolve in around 2 weeks!!

CanadaImporting a Canadian car to the US
I have no clue on the actual bringing the car across as i ended up selling (giving away more like it) prior to moving, BUT I thought I read on VJ that there some sort of paperwork or stamp that POE should give you for the car! You will need that paperwork/stamp when it comers to registering the car at your DMV??? I could be wrong, or only certain States require it??

Cant recall the make of 1 automobile, but the person had a real bad time trying to get the letter!! I do recall some ford owners having to pay a fee, believe one was quoted over a $100!!

1 of the above links has the contact info for each car manufacturer to get the compliance letter! Some charge a fee, some do not!! Nissan didn't and faxed it to me within minutes. Ensure u have the VIN handy

A complete physical should be a head to toe assessment! Yes some other Immigration approved Dr's may not do that--quick and dirty and pocket the $$$$. As a RN student I would feel pretty bad if I signed my name to something that was only half A S S E D completed! Believe me its nothing "sexual" when I have to do certain procedure on female (or male) patients, it is strictly professional! Your uncomfortable, and so am I!!

Dr. Frank Doane
6169 Quinpool Road
Halifax, NS B3L 4P8
902-422-4555

Your best bet is to phone to check the $$$, as the fees always seem to change!! I think the whole thing was around $300. Dr doane only took CASH (no credit card/cheques) back in 2004. I was in the Air Force, so I paid out of pocket.

And as much as one hates physicals, it is probably good that he does a proper one, as if he does find something alarming, you can get it looked at in canada, vice paying the big bucks in the USA (if u dont have insurance)

I guess some dr's do more than others, it is his signature stating that you are healthy, so he ensures is a full physical. As i recall, i thought mine was very quick, I do believe he did the cough test, lol

Lot of cases in those environments they aren't nurses (RN or LPN),but phlebotomists, which in many cases are better at drawing up blood than nurses as they do it all the time! i went to my family Dr back in June--the nurses or medical assistants were late and the Dr. tried to take my blood, lol after 3 pokes he gave up!! So i had to wait for them "experts to come in,lol

The whole evolution took pretty much a day. I think my appt at dr doans was around 10am and from their straight to the hospital. Did Xrays first then bloodwork! I think I finished around 2 pm Anytime one deals with stuff with a dr--it involves a lot of waiting! bring a book!

Had mine in Halifax with DR doane on Quinpool road ( i think) near wendys and Canadian tire!! The physical part was very painless-- quick head to toe assessment and asked some questions! Then it was off to the hospital (short drive--they give u directions) for blood work and. x-rays. I believe Dr doane only accepted cash, but at the hospital I belive they took credit card/debit card as well. Can't recall how many pictures I had to take with me, me thinks 2??? Was a very painless procedure!! I paid $20 (back in 2004) and had the results couriered to me.

CanadaVisiting with an NoA1?
my advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer
2) Be confident in ur replies
3)keep ur response short and to the point, dont tell ur life story!!
4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!
5)pack light! No job resumes with you
6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)
7) Always be polite, being rude isnt going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!
8) have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didnt lie! Refer to #1

Best of luck

Canadagot interview
QUOTE (burnsis @ Sep 16 2008, 03:47 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So, I just got told that I have an interview for end of Oct. And I have a few questions(IR/CR1):

Can I schedule my medical now? Or do I need the letter with my interview date on it?

Does my husband need to go with me? Can I bring my son with me?

They have all the documents they requested, do I need to bring anything else?

Can I get my passport back the same day? I am flying within Canada, but I don't have a health card or valid dl, it all expired. I don't have any other ID other than a birth cert.

Congrats!!

U could probbaly take one of your other NOA's for the medical. I had mine in Halifax, and the DR didn't ask to see anything (except for the required # of pics) but some places can be a bit picky.

NO, ur husband does not have to attend. My wife did not. Should be fine for ur son to attend, how old is he?

Passport on the same day? hard to say, someone just recently just got thiers back the next day at mtl, but that's not always the case. One can always ask, and explain ur situation, but its not something I would count on! You might want to think about getting soem other type of ID--lot less stress on ur self that way!

I'd watch out on H&R block. I went to see the "cdn" specialist, he was terrible. I thanked him for his time and walked out. If you find a competent accountant that deals with USA/Canada tax stuff on a regular basis, thier prices are not that much more than H&R block. Accountants get $$$$ if they have never worked on that subject and have to research it.
