I used U haul as well and it went ok. Ensure you inspect the truck!! U haul at times uses sub par vehicles! Mine was nearly new, only had like 80,000 miles,lol Ensure u check all fluids and tire pressure!!

Ya i showed the POE dude my list and he stated it was better than what he would have done for himself!! I didnt get carried away, but stil had like 4 or 5 pages. I had a full Uhaul, so I wanted to ensure my paperwork reflected that,lol.

if ur accompanying the items,which if using a Uhaul u are, then u just need to make up an inventory list! No requirement for form 3299 which is for unaccompanied items! I just made a "table" in MS Word and grouped stuff together

K1 or K3/CR1

K3 and cr-1 seem to run around the same time. I did both and my CR-1 was a lot faster, but that was back in 2004. K3 should be faster, but not always the case. There is no rhyme or reason a lot of time with immigration,its a ####### shoot. There are some Cdn k1's that take a year as well.

As to the name, I have an idea. I used to work in schools, and can remember a situation where I was reading off a bunch of names of kids in my class. The first 11 names were all spanish names, then I came to Matthew...... ouch. Butchered that one. I just got on a roll of pronouncing names in spanish, then a quick change to english and the brain recognized it, but the tongue was still speaking spanish.

No, they don't announce where everyone was from. All they said that over 50 countries were represented--well first she said ALL countries,lol So no clue if their were any other Canadians! The ceremony room holds close to 100 new citizens, plus a few more chairs for family members.

I was going to wear my Canadian Roots jacket, but didn't want to go overboard,lol

Ya, i almost laughed how she stated my name,lol You must be kidding me!! I had no clue on how to pronounce some of the names she had to call, I was amazed she was doing such a good job--well at least it sounded like she was, maybe she wasn't.

All went well, took about 2 hrs from start to finish. 99% of that time was spent waiting and sitting! Actual ceremony itself was around 25 minutes. I think i had the easiest name to say, but she screwed it up, not sure how, but she did,lol Never in my life had I heard my name like that, and its an English name,too funny! Nice to be done with immigration. No disrespect to the Americans on here, but its more of a sad day than anything. i have no problems following the conditions set forth to be a US citizen, but I consider myself,and always will consider myself to be Canadian! USA is a great country and I really have nothing negative to say about it, people are great too. I must admit, I did wear my Canadian socks,lol. Well back to the books, study time for a big final exam on Thursday!!

American Tim Hortons DO NOT have a XL tim hortons HOT coffee!! The USA large is the same Canadas XL!! When i first went to a Tim hortons in RI, I asked for a XL coffee triple cream! Out she comes with this huge white styrofoam cup with COLD coffee!! lol I rarely even goto Tims in RI anymore, 99.9% I come out disappointed as it doesn't taste the same. I have tried a few RI stores, and another Tims in another State, doesnt taste the same!!

My oath ceremony letter appeared today, it is for Mon. Dec 15 @ 0900!! Get it over with. Would have been nice to have it completed the same day as the interview, but that extra file held it up!! Fairfax VA they normally do the interview/oath the very same day! Oh well , good excuse to take a few hours away from studying for exams,lol

Been a streak of good news for me lately! I got my nursing preceptorship that i requested next semester (last) for the second half the semester at the desired hospital. Work 1 on 1 with a RN for 8 weeks. Have to obtain a minimum 112 hrs over that time frame. Should be an excellent experience!! Then I got a cal from the nursing secretary offering me a deal, long story short, it worked hugely in my favor, for doing her a small favor,lol I got to pick my First half clinical (of my last semester that commences in Jan) ahead of everyone else!! As well got to pick the other few classes ahead of others! So I have my whole schedule already! Registration opens up at 10 am tomorrow for others and its sort of stressful!! Everyone wants the good clinical instructors and their is only 8 students per clinical rotation! But now its not my problem, lol sweet!! Time to clean!!!

Other banks a=offer it as well. Wachovia did, but you had to pay for it!! You can't really fraud them, as you have to have an USAA mastercard, and I believe that acts as collateral. I love the service.

That was too easy!! Told thewm I wanted to close my accounts, they asked why, I stated i now deal with another bank and that was it! Cut me a cashiers cheque!!

We now deal with USAA, Have recieved awesome service from them. Free ATM withdrawls from ANY ATM (even another banks) (up to 10 atm withdrawals a month, we never approach 10, maybe 2 a month at best!) And i love thier free service of deposit @ home! I scan my cheque and thats it, its deposited to my account! Dont even have to mail it in! If I have cash, they send me free postage paid envelopes. But I have another bank were I deposit cash! Just better service from USAA, thats all

Yep, I scan the cheque and thats it!! So handy!! The funds are "backed up" by the mastercard that you have to get, but thats not a biggy! never use the MC. Its a free service, I know some other banks have it as well, but some charge you a fee for it!

We just returned from a farmers market in falls Church! Wow, pricey!! back home in Sk when u went to a farmers market, u usually got good prices, but of course I haven't been to one back in Sk for a long time, so maybe times have changed!
They did have a good selection of veggies and pastries
