Normally I would agree stick is the way to go!! But if your in stop and go traffic, which quite often is the case on the beltway, stick drives me crazy!! prior to moving down here my Nissan Spec V was a stick, and it drove me nutz with all the shifting!! Luckily I dont have to drive that much, my wife on the other hand drives around 50 miles to work!!! and thats only 1 way,lol She is soo sick of driving.

I TRIED to explain this to my husband. Traffic around DC is probably the worst I've driven in and it drives me nuts in a stick. He really wanted me to learn and I'm glad I did but it'll be so much better when we move away from all the traffic!

The 2008 is amazing and apparently more powerful than the 05. You're right about loving or hating the look of it. I totally love it but I know a lot of people really hate it.

ya the 2008 is a much nicer vehicle than the 2005!! And my wife still wants it,lol normally it is her saying NO,this time it is me,lol I rather see our 2005 get banged up, until we get a garage.

We almost bought the 2008 XB!! Nothign wrong with our 2005, but wife likes the looks of the 2008 better, lol But we decided better to keep the 2005 and let it have the dings!! Our condo is just outside parking!! Will be selling /renting it next yr and hopefully move to a house with a garage The scions, are great little cars and more room than what one orginally thinks!! I live a manual transmission, but with DC traffic, there is no way!! Automatic all the way,lol

Yaris's a re a cool car!! You may want to check out the SCion XA and XB!! We have a 2005 XB and wife loves it!! lots of room and good gas mileage!! The newer models look a bit better and more power and features, and very well priced!! With regards to their look, you sort of either like it, or hate it!! My wife didnt care for the look at first, but grew on her!! We have like 50,000 miles on it, and have yet to have a problem!! Just regular oil changes.

Last day in RI, then back to VA tomorrow!! our chilling has come to an end!! Wife goes back to wor on Wed, and I hit the books again, but no classes until Monday!!

So, for all you VJ'ers who live on this side of the US...where would be a good central location for us to meet? I really would like to see a huge get together sometime in the future. Somewhere that wouldn't take a long time getting there...know what I mean? Maybe this summer...maybe plan something long range...I'd really love to meet y'all...all of y'all! biggrin.gif

I don't mind travelling. If it's in your area we can combine it with a visit to my SIL, who lives in Atlanta. Emancipation's stepkids are there, too, so it might work out for her too.

Good morning! Really everyone should come to Florida!

I think we need to do 6 degrees of separation for Derekkj. It would require to him to reveal lots of personal info, I'm sure he wouldn't mind.

derekkj is a a female!!!! Well she is the one that does the majority of the posting, lol

AND keep in mind with ebay, they charge you to list the item and they take a small percentage as well!! Plus if u use Paypal, which is probably the safest method to use to recieve payment, they also charge u a fee!!! So selling a book for $5 isnt really worth it!! Plus u have to find shipping supplies, drive to the post office. I have sold some stuff on Ebay, more for the excitement to see how much it wil sell for,lol

Depends on what types of books!! My wife is a fanattic when it comes to books!! Eventually convinced her to get rid of some--Around 4 big garbage bags full!!! Looked to see if we could sell them on Ebay, but since these were just general romance, mystery novels, weren't going to fetch much!! U can give it a try! Search on Ebay and see if there are others of that book selling and for how much?/ Is it worth ur time?? And the used book store by us, didnt really want them!! So we donated them to the library, and will use it for a tax deduction!!!

Good luck Emancipation!

I've started applying for jobs (slowly mind you, think my mind is a little fuzzy from all this vacation). I work in IT doing software testing, so most of it is online. Very repetitive sad.gif What I've noticed around the DC area is alot of companies are looking for Security clearance because they take government contracts.

As an aside ....my husband's company is bidding for a Gov contract to design a 'workflow management tool' for USCIS! In layman's terms it means they know they need help in making their processes faster! A little late for us tho smile.gif

Morning all!!

Did I tell everyone I have a new job? Hubby does as well - it was his first day at work today and mine is on Monday.. so our long holidays are officially over.. but so is the lack of $$ !!! kicking.gif

ya if one has a security clearance in the DC area your laughing! I think the price for the company to get 1 a Top secret clearance for an individual can cost up to $15,000! So if ya already have one, thats a huge bonus. Thats 1 reason why some people start out working for State Dept. and move on!! And of course not all State/govt job require a high security classification!!

Congrats!! And I hope its a good experience! As a RN student did time in a long term care facility last semester and sorry, its not for me!! Little depressing, I guess I like to see patients improve, and the smell, well thats all I will say,lol but i highly respect people that work there.

When I was younger I always thought that I would go into nursing so I did volunteer work at a hospital. I really enjoyed it for a while.... until they put me on the geriatrics ward. I was absolutely distraught after a few shifts there. You would think that the nurses would have explained Alzheimer's and dementia to me before sending me in. I absolutely believed the elderly patients when they would cry and tell me no one ever visited them or thinking I was their long lost daughter whom they never saw. I never went back. sad.gif

Ya its a very hard ward to work in, even those ones without Alzheimer's or Dementia. Takes a special person to work there. And many facilities are short staffed! 1-because it can be a stressful job 2) the employer is there to make $$$$$$, more staff costs more $$$$$= less profit!

I have a Dyson vacuum and its amazing how much stuff it picks up! We have 1 dog and 2 cats!! I always do a very good vacuum prior to using the steamer, but its amazing how much hair the steamer still picks up!! And I vacuum every 2 days!! And of course the steamer does a good job and getting rid of stains!! I think it does a better job that the Chem-Dry professionals!! Prior to moving into our Condo, I had Chem Dry do our carpets! Was Ok. But After the first time with the Bissell, the carpet looked better!

parnets have a similiar model (yr older) and they love it!! Does a great job!! The trick is to go over it once (or a few times)with the shampoo, THEN rinse with just hot water. There is a setting for that. One only has to use the steamer a few times to pay for itself!!

Is funny, I'm a RN student and for our hospital rotations, were in a group of 6-8. In our group we have 7 and 3 of us are immigrants! 1 from Ethiopia, another from Peru and myself! Few weeks back I was on the post partum floor (moms/babies) and a nurse started to talk about immigrants, nothing bad, but I warned her I wasn't American, lol She was surprised.

Spirit Airlines - by Alfredo Machado

29 August 2003

Pretty good experience on Spirit San Juan to Chicago/return. Old but clean equipment, seemingly competent flight crew, nice comfortable seat on "Spirit Plus" all at a very good price. Would certainly do it again.

Spirit Airlines - by S Little

31 July 2002

I found the responsiveness of Spirit Airlines less than adequate when responding to customer service issues. Good luck getting any problem resolved or addressed.
