QUOTE (poprocks @ Mar 24 2009, 05:19 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am in Toronto... and I figured by crossing the boarder and applying, that each State would be the same? I applied in PA.... I assume Buffalo would have same credit requirements from their head office....

Ahhh the joys of being an immigrant.... I truly have a new appreciation for all the immigrants in Canada blink.gif

You will soon find there is NO "United" in the States!! DMV's regulations differ from state to state. Lot of differences!!

CanadaWhere can I find the Montreal Hotel guide???
No electronics of any kind!! When I was there, 1 guy wasn't allowed in becuase he had a remote on his key chain! as well no big bags/purses. One of those plastic accordian binders with compartments works great (mine had 13,lol) as you can separate everything!1 keep ur interview letter handy, as the security guards wil want to see it. You go through airport like security, so you don't want a lot of metal/coins on ya! and yes if ur bag is too big, they won't allow u in!

CanadaQUESTIONS ASKED IN INTERVIEW
The only info that they can truly verify, is the stuff you submitted, lol It is a very basic interview! You will wonder why you had to fork over $$$$ to pay for ur airfare and hotel for an interview that lasts only a few minutes! Now if he asks what you currently do in Canada, i would highly advise you don't say "want an demonstration" or maybe you should! Best of luck.

Interview is very very basic!! They ask questions like:

How you met. What does your fiance do? Do you plan to work in the USA?, if so what? Very, very basic for the most part.

Canadacanadian taxes for 2008
It is the right form, but why do more paperwork, lol!! And yes Cassies's accountant told her she HAD to do it! Revenue Canada told me it wasn't neccesary! Been on numerous other forums, and many stated it wasn't necessary. Does it hurt to do it? probably not. I just hate filling out paperwork, lol

Good luck

Yep, like the Cat stated, if you already sent in those documents, your good to go! Look over the embassy reviews at the top of the page, or type in Montreal reviews in the VJ search feature, and u should get a lot of them. Keep in mind soem will be k1/K3 and the process differs. Best of luck

Each state has its own DMV regualtions, so you have to check with that state! it would be interesting if one got into an accident in the USA, after a yr and u stil had Cdn plates/insurance and drivers license, what would happen. Of course investigators, most likely don't investigate that deeply.

wow, been in the USA for 1 yr and stil have CDn drivers license and plates! hopefully you dont get in an accident, as you could be in a world of hurt! One usually only has a certain # of days before you have to get USA drivers license/plates

Because the information sounds incredibly vague. How about starting off with WHY they want to see your highschool scores? Why would you give in to demands without explanations?

Because thats what the employer wants? Its not that big of a deal. Why as a new employee does one want to cause a ruckus?? We have had a zillion discussions on here how little each countries truly know of each other. Sure i would ask why, but I also know when to pick my fights, lol

My answer would be that I'll just present my two passports (my Canadian one, and the American one I will get), let them pick and choose which one they want to see and process, and say: "Dual"

I wouldn't do that. It'll tick them off. When you re-enter the US you're a US citizen.

When re-entering the USA, you have to show them your USA passport. In the eyes of the USA, your a USA citizen and thats that that!

When I recently traveled to canada,i used my Canada passport to enter Canada, and my USA passport to enter the USA, all went well.

CanadaWanting to visit fiance in Florida while K1 is pending? What do I need?
1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer
2) Be confident in ur replies
3)keep ur response short and to the point, dont tell ur life story!!
4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!
5)pack light! No job resumes with you
6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)
7) Always be polite, being rude isnt going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!
8) have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didnt lie! Refer to #1

Hey Flames9 I just had a follow up question for you. I am going to be requesting a new passport next week due to wanting a new passport for the visa to be put into. Does the passport number change when you receive your new passport good for 5 years? Or does it stay the same?

Ya know, I have no clue, lol!! I was actually wondering that myself the other day! I would think it would stay the same???? As that # is the System??? I honestly don't know, I'm sure someone else will pipe up!! I have never kept any of my old passports, but I did request my old one back this time

CanadaPassport Renewal
I went in person to renew my Cdn passport just as we were starting the CR-1 process, and it had over a yr left on it. The passport dude asked why I wanted to renew it so early, i stated I was in the process of obtaining a visa to move to the USA, which takes awhile to do, and upon completion I wanted to ensure my passport was relatively new, and he had no probs with that! Think he made me write out a statement. All worked out well

Yep I'm fully US and Canadian right now. Never once yet heard of anyone going through all the process to actually denounce their Canadian citizenship or why anyone would even bother to do that since Canada will never force you to do so.

At my oath, I considered myself American and American only now, however, Canada will always claim me as theirs still. Not my problem they still want to think that ha ha.

On the good news, I can travel and work freely in either country whenever I want now without any worries.

Now if you were from Germany or Peru or India for instance, then you would have to give up your citizenship for the US one as neither of those nations will allow you to take on a foreign citizenship. I don't hear too much complaints about Germans or Peruvians on it, but the Indians are always conflicted because most their families live in India still and many own property still and want to go back to work etc. Which once they take the US oath, they no longer will be able to without obtaining a Indian work visa like the rest of us.

Still, I have yet to hear anyone that has actually gone through with denouncing their Canadian citizenship legally. I couldn't care less about it, but I'm not going to bother myself doing that though. I'll just keep both since they don't mind...

Just curious Warlord, why do you hang out in the Canada forum if you don't consider urself Canadian?

HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everything is a "Quick question". Not only is no one asking for a 10 page essay style response with proper referencing, but the "Quick question" title does NOTHING to tell me what your "Quick question" is about. Now I have to take about 4 seconds out of my schedule (depending on how fast my DSL connection is at that moment) to find out if this "Quick question" has any interest/relevance to me. More often than not however, I don''t even open your "Quick question". You would have had a quicker answer had you given more info in your topic!!!

PLEASE NO MORE "QUICK QUESTION" TOPIC TITLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
