Happy sweat session JillA.
Yippee!!

Thanks Charles for taking care of us.

As for the Wii, we each have laptops...and really, truly, although I played it once and I actually liked it (I don't play video games, ha!), I have already put it on Craigslist.
We can return it to the store, but they would only give us a credit. Really I/we don't want to buy more stuff. The preparation for leaving Chicago has already commenced.
Uncluttering...it's a process! Hee, hee.

WHEE!!!

If u were in Canada, I may have bought it off of ya! My parents in Saskatoon are looking for a Wii! We have 1 and we quite enjoy it!!

Good Morning! It's too bad our other thread had to be locked. Wish they could have done it on the 31st of December though, so that we could have finished off the year with the old one. Oh well! Should I perhaps not bother with morning coffee anymore? wink.gif I think comedy is as individual as beauty. It's in the eyes of the beholder!

Now, saying that, here's a pic of another of our backyard decorations! Enjoy the day!

Ya if they could have waited til Dec 31 to close down the thread! Oh well!! Full day of studying for myself, Final exam is Thursday at 10!! Then late thursday night/early Friday morning, head off to Tampa. A fun 15 hr drive, joy joy!!

CanadaNervous breakdown / Burnout
Great write up, but hard to give 1 truly good suggestions as we only see a small glimpse, where you know the big picture. But what i know is that 1 has to live to be happy! If a job is driving u batty and leading you down a path that isn't healthy, it is best to get OFF that path! Sure maybe the next job will pay less, but maybe you will actually look forward to getting up in the morning and head off to work! $$$ isn't everything!! If one can take a pay decrease, go for it! You stated the work situation isn't going to change so you have a few options

#1, TRY and make it change--what have ya got to lose, if it stays the same, you leave! If by chance the boss listens to you, it may be for the better and ur happy. Some bosses just dont know how to read people/situations, so they think that if no one is complaining, all must be well, when in fact it isn't!!

#2 Try and find another job!

Pills are not the answer to everything, they are not going to change the work conditions and make you happy!

Yes I recall that ur degree from that foreign country--Quebec-- ( lol) wasn't accepted, is it possible to just start over and take it again where you are? Or do something entirely different! I never thought in a zillion yrs I would be a RN (once I write the NCLEX next month)

Big decisions to make, and not easy ones! But it is obvious (by ur post) that there has to be some sort of change. Can you see yourself doing this for the next 5 yrs?? prob not!! Keep ur head up high, sit down with your spouse and start making a list of possible job/schooling that you would enjoy

Canadapolice certificate
Yep like marilyn stated--ensure it is done Canada wide AND in any other names you have used (married before, etc etc) Each form looks different than an other! Some place charge a fee, some do not. Some you get on the spot, some in a few days, others a few weeks!! Some places will want proof on why you require it! i got mine done in kingston NS from the RCMP detachment, and it looked like a 2 yr old drew it up!!

Canada1st time crossing border with new Visa
1 has 10 years to move thier personal belongings to the USA. If your going to visit in July and not move till Sept, there really is no harm on just activating the cr-1 (ir-1) visa now. It starts the process rolling now. The stamped passport on the "visa" page will act as ur temporary greencard. The cr-1 is a multiple entry visa (yes not the proper terms, but easier to understand, lol) there have been many VJ members that activate their CR-1 (ir-1) at the POE then immediately turn around and head back to Canada, which is perefectly allowed.
Flames9_RNMaleCanada2009-06-29 12:15:00
Canada1st time crossing border with new Visa
with a cr-1 (or ir-1) u can do it now, and travel back and forth all u want!!! Not sure you would want to wait to Sep. But I'm sure you could try and not use it. but why not just do it and get it over with and start the paperwork rolling. With luck, your SSN may actually arrive without u having to go to the SSN office and ur greencard will arrive as well to the provided USA address. One can use the "visa" in ur passport for up to 1 year, or until ur actual greencard arrives.

Exactly! Can't play during the day. Ashburn has one on Friday evening, and Kettler has a women's pickup on Sundays.

I also play in a league in the fall/winter. I'm playing out this year...Give my knees a break from 22 years of being a goalie laughing.gif

I started to play goal when i moved to DC. USed to sub time to time when back in Canada. Figured, just go full time here, lol Told the wife, goalies usually play for free.. So she said go for it. She had no clue my goalie equipment bills would lead to thousands of dollars, lol I havent played in awhile due to school, but hope to get back into it!! I used to go play regularly on wed/fridays at laurel in the mornings (0600-0800) then go straight to Mt Vernon and play. Good work out, but havent done that in like 2 yrs!! Played 1 winter on mens rec league, but hated playing soooo late at night. Was hardon the wife as well--get home around 0100, then she gets up at 0430!!! so said enough of that.

Definitely not a high security building...just stupid building people! tongue.gif

I have found that I really enjoy weightwatchers...being able to eat what I like but in moderation, and knowing what the points are has helped me in just the couple of weeks I've been doing it.
I'm already down 3 pounds, and hope that it continues!

Once I start with my hockey season in the fall, I should start seeing more drop off. I would love to get back to the shape I was when I played hockey and fastball year round.

In my opinion, I'd shop around and see if you can find a civil who will mark it "not suitable" because you are nursing.

We were very slow with the vaccination record to the point where we went to a CS the week before the interview to get the HPV shot only to find they were out. So we went to the interview and even after it expected an RFE for the record with the HPV shot on it. We were approved without it.

Btw all the older woman on here are very lucky that the drug lobby didn't win the 30's age recommendation a few months back.

Unfortunatly in Canada, we cannot 'shop around' for our Civil surgeons - there are 3 in the whole country, and it is a Canadian requirement that people under 26 get Gardisil - all the doctors are all going to say the same thing :S

You dont have to get that shot or the others from the panel physicians, you can get them at ur family Dr. or whatever medical provider you wish. believe others have stated they phoned around and were able to get it cheaper

Canadafinancial aid for green card holders
http://www.education...g/procedure.htm I used this company to get my CDN high school transcripts evaluated! They were great. I had the required document back before they had even cashed the cheque!!!

I had to take all the pre-reqs before I got accepted into the nursing program! Was a pain in the butt, but I did it! My school offered many of the classes online, which was nice. Was even able to take many of the sciences online, then met now and then for lab on campus.

As wel check with the local hospitals, sometimes they offer to pay for your schooling, and in return you have to work for them for so long---and if ya back out after they paid for ur schooling, then you owe them $$$$$,lol

There is also the diploma route to go in getting your RN's, but they are fewer and fewer of them! Liek any other job, the more "schooling" the better. Many start with the ADN, then go onto their BSN, 1 advantage of that route, is that most employers will assist in paying for your schooling.

And check with your school, they can usually direct you to scholarships, I know mine listed them on their website. I lucked out on getting one scholarship--was sponsored by the Rotary club---About 10 people were on the panel that interviewed me, and most of them were USA Armed forces veterans, so they liked my Cdn military experience. If I can go back to school, anyone can,lol

With regards to the classes taken in BC-----I contacted my old High school, and they mailed me my transcripts, which I then mailed to the above mentioned company! They sent a letter directly to the school, and a copy to me, stating it was equivalent to USA grade 12

I got a few scholarships as a permanent resident!! I got my Associates degree in Nursing (RN) and if ya have a community college in the area that offers that, can be the cheapest route to go to get ur RN's! Some of the private colleges are very $$$$$$. Sorry not really what u were looking for!

CanadaWhich is easier? K-1 or K-3?
The k1 should be the fastest route!! "should be" is the key term, lol, when it comes to immigration, nothing is nornmal, lol But to keep things simple, the k1 should be the fastest route

With any of the visas, you CAN visit!! So if you do the cr-1 and want to visit for up to 6 months, go for it! Its all up to the port of entry (POE) officer to let you in or not. Many of us visited with no problems--ensure you bring ties to canada (ie letter from employer, bills, mortgage/lease agreement, immigration paperwork))

in that link I posted before, it gave you the + and - of each visa, ENSURE you look over that. k1 you HAVE toget married in the USA AFTER the interview. and of course with the cr-1 you already have to be married, but can do that in the USA or canada. CR-1 has a lot less restrictions than the k1, again, look over that link I previously posted.
