CanadaAnother good reason not to get a lawyer
no, one cant do a k1 or a cr-1 or k3 at the same time!! If they are married, odds are that they filed the cr-1 and k3, which files the 129F! Sure one could blame the lawyer, BUT no one cares more about ones case then you!! So that person should be looking into things! We found the lawyer first then VJ (costly mistake, lol) even though we had the lawyer, I knew things she did not because of VJ!!

CanadaAnother good reason not to get a lawyer
You used to be (not sure if it still is) able to do the k3, and the cr-1 at nearly the same time, and just go with which ever comes out first. sure it costs a bit more, but nothing wrong with it.

Love my HD Tivo!! Think we paid $500 and that included LIFTEIME service! Then spent like another $150 on an external 1 TB harddrive. We have verizon Fios, with the fastest speed interent, unlimited calling in N.America and HD Extreme TV package, and we pay around $130 a month

Even though the majority have never had a problem, one should be prepared for a denial! One thing on edoes not want to do is get mad at the officer and cause a scene, they can make ones immigration to the USA even more difficult. Remain cal and be in control and be polite! yes some get denied, thats a fact, and yes it could be a jerk of a POE officer, OR it could be that person! Some people when confronted with a stressful situation turn into jerks themselves and of course they don't state that in their posts on VJ. To them yelling loud and causing a scene is the norm, lol Best of luck!

CanadaEver see a fatality from an accident?
Not from a traffic incident!! But as a nursing student on my preceptorship, I was looking after a patient. We were talking away, talking football, hockey and then basketball! The tech came in and asked if everything was ok (its a cardiac floor, so everyone is hooked up to monitors to watch their heart), His heart was racing. i said yes, were just takling sports, he said yes, then went quiet, and then he just froze, and then we called the code! Put the bed flat, no pulse, started CPR, the whole code tame showed up, but were not able to revive him! It was juts soo odd. 1 minute all was fine, then ............................. next minute your washing him up for the family. But honestly death like that does not really affect me. I wish the outcome was different but we did all that we could, even after the outcome was very obvious, we kept on trying. I have been involved in other codes where I thought they stopped too soon. Yes the outcome was still obvious, but for the sake of the family one should have gone a bit further.

CanadaMoving from Montreal Consulate to Vancouver
A few yrs back a few manage to get it done, but ibelive one had to have a "reason" believe they used the "reason" they they were moving to BC. In actuality, i don't believe they actually moved. But to go that route, one needs a mailing address in one of the western provinces!!

CanadaMontreal taking so long
Having family members (wifes side) that have worked in USA consulates throughout the world (not canada) maybe I have a better idea on what they go through! Depending on where they have worked they have been forced to work 6 days a week, but only get paid for 5!! No Overtime!! Yes, by the books they should be getting paid OT!! And the pay isnt that super!! One can go look up the GS pay rates, its no secret. have a friend that a foreign service officer that leaves for iraq soon for 1 year. She has been told she will be working 6 days a week, and just get her regular salary, again no OT!! of course all the hazard pay is nice, but it is exactly that, hazard pay! Its easy to sit and criticize people when you have no clue on what they do. I'm sure 99% of the workers work their butt off, but like in any job, there are people that are sub standard.

I enjoy Southwest, always great service. What was that TV show,it was all centered on Southwests crew, it was pretty funny! Last time I flew southwest, ur boarding was all based on when u signed in for ur flight--which one can do within 24 hrs of ur flight! So the earlier u sign in (via internet) the quicker you got on the plane, thus could choose whatever seat u wanted

Did it back in 2004, too easy. Went thru Maine. had a list of al my stuff, dont have to get crazy on the list, you can group things together. I didnt pick any particular lane. drove up to the POE, stated i was here to activate my CR-1, he said ok, pull on in over in a parking spot and go inside. Went inside, gave the mysterious do not open brown enevelope to a POE official, they took my pic, I answered some basic questions, gave my inventory list to a customs dude, he barely even looked at it and i was on my way. Didnt even look inside the truck!

CanadaCan outstanding student loans keep me from getting Canadian Passport?
Personally i think many of you have given her a hard time and should just drop it! MANY people come to the USA with no intention of staying and they do! One doesnt know the whole story, and one isn't expected to share their whole story on the internet! Who knows, maybe this person left an abusive relationship back In canada, etc etc, they shouldn't be expected to state that on a forum. So what if you (or we) did it by the books. You can sleep peaceful that n one is going to be knocking on ur door telling you to leave the USA. And you can safely go back to Canada while they can't! Not everyone knows the rules of immigration! And one truly can't feel the 'tone" of ones posts, some people take it the wrong way! Just seems to be a lot more bickering on the cdn forum lately, slowly taking the turn to be more like the other OT forum, which is sort of sad. I usually find it nicer to help others, than attack them, but thats just me!

Wow, you really lucked out there. sad.gif Why do you have to do your interview in Montreal??? (If you don't mind me asking, I mean...) blink.gif

Yeah, you should be able to do your medical in Vancouver, as others have said.

Also -

Aboard the H.M.S Immigration, there are many other boats in which you could be tossed into. Ours would be the H.M.S. Waiting Forever for Montreal (which more resembles a dingy than an actual boat...). Welcome aboard. Although you may feel like abandoning ship, just remember that the tiny little spec in the distance is that island where you and your loved one will FINALLY be together. wacko.gif

Canadamilk in bags
QUOTE (Carlawarla @ Oct 26 2009, 07:17 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
We didn't have bagged milk in Saskatchewan. Just as well, it annoys me. My parents milk is always "falling" down in the fridge as well and knocking things over. laughing.gif While it all might be recyclable, the manufacturing of three seperate bags, then one huge bag to contain the three is unnecessary pieces of material that is not needed. Being green is not just about recyling, it's about reusing and reducing. I have read on here various proponents to bagged milk, and the one about only having one open at a time is great, as long as people are good about not taking all but one splash of milk and then not putting in the new one! laughing.gif I think it's just what you're used to. I don't like it, but if I had no choice I'd buy it, use it,and then whine about it!

I haven't seen anything here on why its done, what might be some of the benefits. Why didn't it, or isn't it catching on? Are consumers the ones deciding the trends? Were "pilot projects" done to determine who in the country would use them and who wouldn't? Is it a decision of the Milk Marketing Board? Interesting...

we had bagged milk in Prince Albert Sk growing up remeber the sign we would put up on the window notifying the milk man if we needed milk or not!!

When i was in Stoon this summer, could have sworn i saw bagged mil at the COOP, but maybe not

CanadaWhere to start
Welcome to VJ! Since your already married, your going to want to check the K3 or CR-1 visas! At 1 time the k3 was much faster to obtain than the CR-1, but that is usually not the case now. time frame wise they run pretty even, making the cr-1 route the better route to go as it has more benefits and it costs less! Where do you reside in Canada? ALL cr-1 interviews take place in Montreal. But for the K3, they take place in Mtl and Vancouver. Manitoba and west goto Vancouver. Ontario and East goto Mtl for the k3. SOOOO if you do live in 1 of the western provinces, the k3 may be faster, but keep in mind one can not work right away with a k3, where as with the CR-1 you can.

Comparing them: http://www.visajourn...mp;page=compare

At the top of the K3 and CR-1 forums are guides, pretty much show you what to do step by step! At the top of the page is a link to EXAMPLE FORMS, already filled out!!

You wil find out that the paperwork isnt that bad, its the waiting that will kill ya! Welcome to VJ

CanadaA sample letter to complain about the wait period for the Montreal interview
Well one could ask the average USA taxpayer, how do they feel about spending more $$ to decrease the wait time for people coming to the USA, and what do you think their response would be? I think you already know mine, lol

Again I think it comes down to wait times other countries are facing. I belive everyone should be treated the same, not just because were next door neighbors to the USA gives us special treatment. But my opinion are not popular with the majority here, lol So i will leave it at that, lol But as i stated above, in many occasions its not the worthy person getting the reward, its the squeaky wheel, lol
Flames9_RNMaleCanada2009-10-24 16:33:00
CanadaA sample letter to complain about the wait period for the Montreal interview
Squeaky wheel gets the grease as they say! But immigration is not a huge thing in the USA, I think many would like less immigration. So one may write their congress person stating they represent you and they need ur vote, but they probably have 100 other people who want less immigration, thus they will send you a nice letter, saying they feel your pain, blah blah blah, you know the story! But on the other hand if you don't try, for sure nothing gets accomplished, so it doesn't hurt to try.

It has been longer than a few yrs since Toronto handled them, they didn't back in 2004 when I went through the CR-1 process.

I haven't checked, but how does the wait times differ between Canada and other countries, such as China, or India, etc etc etc??? Well, off to work, cheers

CanadaAbsolute Worst Timing Having to Lease a Car
It depends on the car! My parents bought their new venza in Prince Albert Sk 9we grew up there) even though they live in Saskatoon! The stoon dealer would NOT budge on the price of the venza, and really he didn't have to, as they are selling them as fast as they get them, so the dealer has the upper hand. BUT they went to PA and got a bit better deal as the PA dealer has a lower "shop rate" and because some of the options are put on at thee dealer, the lower shop rate, translates into a bit of savings. I have always found that Honda/Toyota dont deal as much as GM, Ford/dodge! They were looking at the Lincoln MKX, and it started out at around 55,000, but after they throw in rebates, incentives, its down to mid 40,000. makes one think ur getting a good deal, lol

CanadaAbsolute Worst Timing Having to Lease a Car
http://www.cars.com/...tory=amMade0709

I have only owned Acura and Toyota, and as of right now would never even step into a GMC or dodge dealership. Possibly a ford, but not likely! My parents have always like ford and dodge! They just test drove piles of vehicles and went with the Toyota Venza.

According to the link I provided, the Japanese cars are more "american made" than others!!

All depends on the player. I have listened to interviews and some have stated they enjoy leaving the game at the rink and not having their personal lives involved in the public eye at all times. And isnt the Leafs partly owned by the Ont teachers fund, so they are more concerned about profit than winning!! And hey, if your selling out with a crappy team, who cares! Its nowonder why TO doesnt want a Hamilton franchise so close by.
