I wish I was partying too! Unfortunately I spent hours and hours trying to get my Christmas shopping done to no avail. I got some stuff but not everything I really needed. I've had some bad customer service experiences already this year... I had a woman try to sell me a scratched up necklace at this engraving store and then argued with me when I said it was all scratched because it was the display item, had a waiter at Champs serve us food and then NEVER came back for the whole dinner (tip=zero!) and then at Target the checkout lady was talking to a woman at the checkout she knows in some way and spent a good 10 minutes just chatting away with her and completely ignoring me. I don't have all day! Rawr, I love Christmas but its already annoying me.

Next week is Christmas party week! I have one at Dave and Busters on Wednesday (I love that place so much we had our rehearsal dinner there laughing.gif) and then there is a casino party up in the mountains Saturday and some kind of family hoopla on Sunday. After the week I just had bring on the Margaritas!

good day to goto dave and busters on Wednesdays as they offer half price games! As well u can sign up online at daveandbusters for free $10 in game play! takes up to 72 hrs to get it, so do it today!! http://www.daveandbusters.com/

Driven that coquihilla highway numerous times in the winter, in very wintery conditions! Lots of cars/semis in the ditch! They do keep it plowed fairly well, but with the amount of snow they can get, it is a loosing battle. Driven from Victoria to Sask, many time thru the mountains, can be pretty scary at times, lol

I really like BING, and it does work! Have used it once before and saved nearly another $40 off our Garmin GPS. If ya have never used bing, you goto Bing.com and one sees a search box, type in what ur looking for, and in the next window the result are shown. if by the biottom of that link you see BING CASHBACK, that stor offers $$ back. can vary from a few % to a lot---Like today Dell was offering 20% back from Bing! As well one can click on SHOPPING,then click on CASHBACK stores, for a list of stores that participate and how much they offer! Keep in mind it takes 60 days to get ur $$$, so it is not quick, lol but it adds up! On most stores, ontheir checkout, one sees the BING symbol, notifying you that you are getting $$$ back, BUT that is not always the case! As well sometimes you get a notification email right away from bing, and some times takes a few days!! Just ensure you start at bing.com and click on that CASHBACK symbol on that stores link Ohyes, once u clicked on that link, another window will pop up, asking for ur email that used for bing, as well those security boxes where u have to enter in the characters that you see.

Today that Fuji F70 camera was on sale for $199 which was the best i could find, plus I will get 20% of that price from BING! 60 days from now, I can ask for a cheque in the amount of nearly $40. They can also deposit it into ur bank acct or paypal acct, or mail you a cheque!

So... after all my research and stuff trying to get my butt to MD for Xmas via all sort of other modes of transportation I just ended up buying a very, very cheap ticket from Air Canada to Washington DC and from there, I, LGG, am going to take Washington PUblic transportation to where my husband works. yes. yes. I am. I figure, if I'm going to be without wheels for the first while there and I'll be living there, I sure as hell should figure out how to get my a** around.
Husband would pick me up BUT I am going to do it myself.

"sides if i can get myself from Hong Kong airport to Kowloon on public transportation, then I sure as hell can do it in Washington where the signs are in English.
smile.gif

I got a great deal on my ticket. It was 400$ return, direct from Toronto. The ticket to BWI is still close to 800$ so...

I was also thinking too, wouldn't it be 'hilarious' if I just got my ticket for xmas and NVC schedules us an interview for December??? Hilarious.

Very easy to use, but not something one wants to try and figure out in a real situation! I belive every one should take a BLS class. For CPR now they are tooting only giving compression--no breathes--about 100 compressions per minute-A good rhtyhym to go by is the Bee Gees song--staying alive. And both times i have given compressions on a real person, I had that song in my mind!! one want to go down 1.5 to 2" deep when giving ur compressions! One can read up online about how to USE AED, only takes minutes to learn, very simple, and once they the patches/pads are on, it tells ya what to do.

So the interview went well yesterday.

I have a follow up interview on Monday with the Manager who makes the final decision. I think yesterday's interview was more of a "Lets see if this person can handle the job" type interview and if they make their recommendation maybe we'll hire her.

Because Kettler is where the Washington Capitals practice and hold events and such, all employees have to have extensive background checks. I told him I've passed quite a few, so you shouldn't have a problem with me laughing.gif

One of the questions he asked was How would you react if Alex Ovechkin walked into the Pro Shop. I told him that would be pretty cool, but I wouldn't freak out like a crazy fan or anything....my husband on the other hand though... whistling.gif
He laughed.

So we'll see how monday goes!

You know, it's funny, just last week I was telling John how cool it would be to work for the Caps in some capacity...and in a way, this job would be! Kind of cool smile.gif

Sounds exciting! I'm sure Monday will go well for you too!

glad it went well, never know where it could lead. Some people in very high positions in sports have started at the very bottom and worked their way up. You are having a more extensive interview than what I had for my RN job,lol

LOL I buy most of my stuff when I visit my parents in Ontario laughing.gif The last two times I crossed the border, they asked "Anything to declare?" Me: "hockey equipment" biggrin.gif
But, being able to pass along any knowledge to folks who may be new to the sport (like the guy on Saturday will be worth it). Plus, I'm a goalie so if anyone needs advice on equipment (of which most stores have none) I can help. I just need some hours for now, and when things pick back up at work. Hey anytime you want to drop by and see how bad I am at playing forward for the first time since I was 5 you are more than welcomed to! smile.gif Our home ice is Kettler, and if we have a morning, or early afternoon game on Saturday's you can watch the Caps practice before us.

Alexander Semin was using the ice this Saturday...he didn't travel with the team to play the Islanders because of the flu.

I'm the only Canadian 'playing' on the team. Our coach is from Fort McMurray.
We used to have two more, but one moved to Bahstan, and the other moved back to Canada...hubby was military and attached the Embassy in DC at one point.
We stink, but we have fun. Definitely NOT the AA / AAA teams I'm used to playing with!

Thanks for all the well wishes! I'll let you know how it goes!

Nice complex at the Balston mall! Ref'd a few games there 2 seasons ago. Gave that up to concentrate on school. I haven't played hockey in 2 yrs now! I play goal as well, but I played out during my time in Canada, but occasionally filled in when the regular goalie wasn't around. Told my wife goalies play for free, she thought that was great, didn't bother to tell her how much goalie equipment costs, lol Need to loose about another 10 lbs before I strap the pads back on. It's part time for a pro shop at the arena where I play and where the Washington Capitals practice (Kettler for those who live around there)

It was funny...I had a game on Saturday, and John wanted to try on some shoulder pads. Another fellow was there doing the same thing and asked John "can I ask you some new guy hockey questions?" in which John said, 'You'd better ask her!' laughing.gif

So I asked if they were hiring and they were...so I applied and got an email today for an interview tomorrow! Yippee!

BC is having a huge increase in reported cases of the virus. We've had 7 people die so far - the latest one was a woman who was obese.

I'm sorry, but that actually made me laugh laughing.gif - not about the poor woman, but the 'the latest one was a woman who was obese'

What does her being obese have to do with her dying from H1N1 - or am I missing an important fact or something?

How's that going, Flames? Are you enjoying it so far?

I'm I enjoying git? yes!! I have NEVER been busier in my life at work!! I work on a cardiac floor, normal patient load is 4 during the day, can go up to 5 (then they call in another RN) and at night, one takes 5. I am lucky to get a 20 min break during my 12 hour shift! Ya 1 is suppose to get 2 --15 min breaks and 1--- 30 min break, but soooo much to do! And as a new RN lots to learn! Time management//organization plays a big part in ones day. It will get better! love 95% of my patients, but there are a few that drive one nutz! Soo needy and drama queens/kings,lol had one Aussie lady, she was a hoot, i was her "canook" lol and if ya ever wanted a reason to quit drinking alcohol, seeing someone in liver failure is an eye opener--nice dark yellow (jaundice) skin from head to toe. Start working nights this coming week, and that is where i will stay. Normally a bit quiter at night, but people tend to go crazy or code more so at night to,lol but extra $$$$ too for working nights.

there is a really neat product on the market called Allerpet. This is supposed to help people who have allergies to cats and dogs. It is a liquid that you put on a cloth and rub all over the animal. It is supposed to help counteract the allergens. There are also 'allergen free' cats, although they can be quite expensive. Basically they are hairless so their coats feel like suede. The breeds are Cornish Rex, Devon Rex and Sphynx. A colleague of mine had a Devon Rex because her daughter was highly allergic even though she loved cats. This cat solved the problem and everyone was happy.

We have 2 Siberians which are suppose to be for cat allergy suffers! Works for my wife who is allergic to "normal" cats! She had a slight reaction at first, but nothing compared to other cats! A Siberian starts around $500 My ex was allergic to cats as well, lol and we tried allerpet, didnt work for her!! I actually used to bath those cats, man, that sure was fun, not!!
