PhilippinesNo DV process not retroactive
I went to the USEM site, downloaded the instruction packet for IR/CR and, lo and behold, DV wasn't anwhere on it. I did look at the date on the packet and it was October 2008, just as MJ3LV said. I had downloaded the previous packet earlier and the DV requirement was there. Now, it isn't. And this is on the official USEM site. The marriage index is mentioned though, as well as anything and everything that you can provide to prove the you are who you are, your spouse is who he/she is, and that you do have an existing relationship which is authentic in every way.

BTW, requested a marriage index (though I have the one I got before we were married)...said it'll take 5 days minimum? Is this about accurate?

PhilippinesCASE COMPLETED AT NVC
Thank you very much guys!

We are even more restless now, it seems. Am anxious to start having the medicals (while we are both free of cough or colds). And I can't even do my Christmas shopping yet! Nor schedule definite follow-up dates for patients. We were told to call NVC again by Friday to see if we still made it to a November sched. I am hoping we do whistling.gif

For those still waiting....just hang in there. You'll still finish in time. Just be patient.

PhilippinesCASE COMPLETED AT NVC
My hubby called NVC 8pm ET (8am RP time) and he was told that our case was completed last Friday. Took just about 4 days for them to process our papers, and no RFEs. Is unbelievable, if you'll ask me, since we just started this journey at the end of July. Now we are looking at a possible late November or early December interview. A pity we did not meet the 2nd week cut-off for scheduling appointments, no thanks to the ever-efficient NBI, but who am I to complain still, right? Still, we are very thankful....and thanks to this site as well which has been very helpful to us.

Hopefully get scheduled soon and be over and done with everything so I can turn my attention to the coming holidays innocent.gif

thank you very much. I know our papers are still being processed by nvc but i would like to get all the needed paperwork together, and the marriage index is the last one. I had the misfortune of having to wait a long time when I got my pre-marriage cenomar, hence the want to apply for this on online.

PhilippinesMarriage Index or CENOMAR
QUOTE (MJ3lasvegas @ Oct 11 2008, 07:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
marriage index is basically the CENOMAR. if you're single, it will indicate that you have never contracted any marriage but if you've already tied the knot, it will show the exact date, place and the person you got married to..

so basically, just request for CENOMAR on the NSO website..aka marriage index for married people.
i don't know how they exactly call it for married people but the CO who asked for it from just said:
"DO YOU HAVE YOUR MARRIAGE INDEX WITH YOU?"
and i was like...

"MA'AM, IS IT THE SAME THING AS THE CENOMAR BUT THE DIFFERENCE IS MY NAME AND MY HUSBAND'S NAME IS ON IT STATING THAT I WAS ONLY MARRIED ONCE AND THAT'S TO HIM?" unsure.gif
and she said YES..lol.. happy.gif i felt silly for not knowing what a marriage index was exactly, i had an idea but i just felt it safer to ask..

So, if I apply on the website, which name do i use? Maiden? Married?

NO i am not married with the biological father and in my son BC it stated there too that were not married.
we call the NVC yesterday and they told us to write a statement from me by handwritten saying that i have full custody of my son sinced birth and i have no contact with his father and we are not married...etc etc etc.

Okay...is the biological father's name on your son's ds230 and on his birth certificate? My child's birth certificate does not have her biological father's name on her birth certificate, nor does it show any notation of acknowledgement. Nor does his name appear on her baptismal. Nevertheless, I made an affidavit of illegitimacy for her.

it says " Please submit evidence that you have been granted custody of this child.Copies of original court custody documents are acceptable. In Addition to the above,in case of joint custody or remaining rights of a non-custodial parent, applicants must also submit a notarized statement from the non-custodial parent granting permission for the child to immigrate to the U.S".

i have full custody of my son sinced birth but its my US american husband who filed petition for him as his step father....what we gonna do? my entry to U.S was as CR1 and then i am wondering why they changed the preference category for my son,it was changed to IR2-CHILD OF U.S. CITIZEN... why?

anyone know abt this problem of mine? oh please let me know..we are expecting for Nov interview for him but we just got this letter today so it will be delay and me and my husband are really confused...
i am waiting for your replies co VJ'ers
thanks and more power

I don't know really, but I think you should tell your husband to call NVC about this. Would help to have the 130 NOA2 too and take a look at it. The cover page for my child (my husband's step-child) says CR2. Your son's should read the same. But, like I said, go ahead and tell your hubby to bother NVC.

DS230 - if your answers don't fit, make an attachment sheet and put down the number of whatever is asked then your answer. Again, do not put "same as #_". Would save them time in going thru your papers plus avoid any potential RFE's from answering the forms wrong. You may put "see attached" though on the form.

thank you Gracey.
However, would it be a lot more convenient to just type "See attachment #1" only on the 1st row? and nothing more so they can just see my entire detailed address on the attachment?

For DS230, I just decided to write it manually.

i wrote it down repeatedly

Philippinesconfused about CFO
I have yet to get a visa but I am done with the CFO. Just need the sticker which I intend to get ASAP after getting our visas.

I went to PRISM for the seminar, not knowing that there may be some additional items needed like pictures of you and your fiancee. I had all our documents and the only thing I was asked for was a photocopies of my passport and birth certificate. After the seminar, you will be given a certificate of attendance which you must photocopy BEFORE you go to CFO and get another certification. There is no photocopier at CFO, unless you wish to take a 10-min pedicab ride into the heart of the shanties nearby.

Now, once you get the certificates, DO NOT lose them as they will be looked for at Immigration at NAIA, even if you have the sticker already.

I guess it would be a worthwhile way of spending the waiting period....

Distance cannot, and will not hurt a bond between two people that is based on mutual respect, trust, commitment, and love.

Although you may feel like you are losing faith in your relationship at times, hold fast and trust your heart!

I, like you, truly believe that love & relationships are what make your life special, and that ones built on love & understanding are always worth preserving, regardless of the miles that may separate two people.
heart.gif

I have never lost faith in my husband from the very start. Both of us are survivors of probably the most trying times in our lives so that it must've taken A LOT for us to be able to find trust and a mature kind of love in each other. It was a gamble, yes, and my mother was acutally speculative as to whether he would indeed come back to marry me, but all doubts were lost to her when he sent his itinerary. But I had never lost my trust. In a way that only we could understand, we knew even before meeting each other that we would end up together. And I couldn't ask for more. He has showered me and my daughter with a love that only he can provide and in a way that we have never felt before. I can only be thankful. I have only but a warm joy in my heart seeing my daughter happy and my husband happy. And their happiness is my own. Our love and faith has been tested by both space and time and we have perservered. The time is near when there will no longer be any goodbyes nor see-you-in-a-few-months, and we all look forward to that glorious day. star_smile.gif

My hubby & i are still waiting for ours. We received a letter from NVC last Oct. 20 that they don't have my DS-230 yet but when i called them, they said they received a package last Oct. 17. Tsk,tsk! I asked them it must be our DS-230 which we mailed Oct. 11 & the bwisit operator won't confirm!!! I told her why the secrecy?! You want me to wait 2-4 weeks again just to know if it's my DS-230?!!! & she said i'm sorry ma'am blah, blah, blah!!! By this time of course my BP is high! Grrrr...!!! Anyway, here i am still waiting...

Guys i just want to know, once my case is approved what are my next steps?? I read you have to pay the DV. Where??? How much?? Also, how much is the medical?? Do i have to get all the injections? I haven't had smallpox, chickenpox yet. Does NVC give you notice what to do next?? I just want to prepare ahead. The waiting suuuuucks!!!! lol

Thanks!!!!

Thank you....maybe yours is done too. That would be nice...maybe we'd have similar scheds, you think? Know what we did? My husband persistently called NVC every single evening (yes, evening...to allow them to do their thing). We sent it through courier so that we were able to track it and know exactly when it was received at NVC.

I still plan on paying the DV once I get our appointment notice, controversial as it is or not. Metrobank, it is said from the link on the USEM site.

Yes, I know how it is to wait. I am honestly impatient with the entire thing. I want to do the medicals already....sigh....

make sure you complete the checklist as indicated in your appointment letter. Also bring extra copies of your petitioner's AOS, 2007 tax return, birth and marriage certificates (if married) and the CENOMAR/CENMAR. Also don't forget pictures and other secondary evidence of identity. Pay the DV fee just in case. Good luck in your interview. smile.gif

I made a duplicate of all the documents I submitted with my visa application. Added the receipt of payment too for added measure. Dont forget yout CENMAR; I got mine today after applying online last week. I also have my transcripts of records, old and present gov't-issue ID's (driver's license, PRC, photocopy of my old passport), baptismal certificate, my own BIR registration and tax returns, medical records. Chat logs (am still editing as I have more than 1,000 pages worth), emails including emails from my mother-in-law, cards and letters, bank statements from our joint account, a letter from his credit card company, a letter from his insurance company, plane tickets, money remittances, wedding expenses. I have photocopies of his birth certificate, professional license, his employment certificate, all his ITRs from 2004 with accompanying W2's and payslips, a notarized copy of the AOS. I am working on my certificates of employment from my clinics at the moment. Oh...and photos too of my husband and I, with my family and relatives, with my daughter and photos of myself and my daughter.

Yes, paying the DV even if it is no longer a requirement would be a good thing, too.

Hi guys....

We missed getting scheduled by NVC for appointment at USEM by just one day. I guess I had conditioned my mind that we would be getting scheduled before the end of November and that we would soon be going for our medical. I just feel a bit disorganized right now. I have all the documents ready for the interview and I am just sitting here waiting. I think of the eventual disruption of my daughter's schedule at school. I can't even finalize follow-up schedules for patients, telling them to "please call a few days before your scheduled appointment".

Admittedly, I am quite restless because I just want to get this over and done with and start preparing for the holidays and our baby's birthday and my husband's arrival. I know, we can't do anything but wait and we should still be thankful for going through the process in record time. Just wanting to vent a bit... unsure.gif

I plan on checking into a hotel too with my 5-year-old when our medicals are due. If you are married and will be using your married name in renewing your passport, then you need to attend the seminar prior to renewing your passport. DFA mandates all spouses and fiances of foreign nationals to attend and get a certification of having attended the seminar prior to getting/renewing a passport or leaving the country. You will not be allowed to leave RP without the CFO seminar certificate, and the CFO sticker on your passport.

Umm, ok. These are what I have for the interview:

1. NSO Birth certificates, marriage certificates, CENOMAR and CENMAR (my hubby was kind enough to keep the extra copy of the CENOMAR we filed prior to our marriage).

2. NBI and police clearance (I got this just the same)

3. Other proofs of identity - PRC, Driver's license (old and new), photocopy of old passport, school records (would you believe, I found some old school ID's?), baptismal ceritificate, Board Certificate

4. Passports, of course and extra 2x2 pics

5. I-864 with tax returns and W2's and paystubs

6. Proofs of relationship - pics, receipts, hotel bookings, plane ticketrs, phone records, chat logs (am still editing...dami kasi e), emails, card and letters, wedding photos, bank statements, letter from the health insurance company, letter from the credit card company, third party affidavit (i had multiple copies of the one we sent with our I-130), correspondences with my mother-in-law

7. Photocopies of my husband's birth certificate, divorce papers, passport, professional license, letter of employment, Army discharge papers (his dogtags too!)

8. I got my own bank statements, too, and letters of employment

9. For my baby girl, NSO birth ceritificate, baptismal certificate, school records, hospital birth certificate, affidavit of illegitimacy, and photos to show she has been with me since birth.

Did I miss anything? Oh...i have duplicates too of the I-130 and DS230.

Hopefully it doesn't change yet. What a bummer would it be if, just a couple days before the interview, they decide to bring DV back?

I got my CENMAR thru the e-census site. Saves me time going to NSO and standing in line.

It is frustrating having to wait weeks on end for that little piece of art on our passports known as the much-coveted US visa. It is for this reason that I had wanted to pay DV as early as now, despite having about a month left before our interview.

I don't know if forgoing DV is a good or a bad thing...probably good so that the US will know that we are not frauds...bad because these things are done by hand, thanks to the efficient government agency known as NSO, which prolongs the waiting period for those interviewd much later when the DV was still in effect.

We are all anxious to be reunited with our loved ones but we eventually will be, DV or not. Just need some extra patience.

yup. it still does. so, for my daughter and myself, one payment slip each.....ohhhh...it says "approriate deposit slip",but there is no "dollar" or "peso" option. The green payment slip does...is this the one to be used? On the blue deposit slip, there is not space for indicating the name of the payee.

And is the number to text on this link still the current one?

Seriously Grace, Who knows how this system works? Nobody can really understand this DV, its driving everybody nuts! But I know you dont want to take chances so just go ahead and pay. At least you know you did everything you can. I guess the motto here is..."when in doubt, pay".

Umm...how to pay? I can't find the link anymore.

you can track the packet from NVC to USEM through the DHL website. track by reference. i guess you can find posts on this from the PI thread..just try to browse through, i forgot how i did it, sorry.. blush.gif

anyways, good luck on your upcoming interview!

I swear..this is getting the best of my patience....

I am still determined to go back to Metrobank. I asked one of the front desk people there if they still accept payments for Delbros and i got a blank stare...duh? Said that we could try to make the payment and see if it gets through...huh? blink.gif Now...how to make that payment.....

PhilippinesUSEM website update
Hi guys!

I just looked at the USEM website and it has been updated as of 11/05/08. A few hours ago, there was an entry for having documents verified at NSO. I went to Metrobank on the way to picking up my daughter from school just to get the payment slips and make an inquiry then back home. Logged on again to the site to look for the payment instructions.......and it isn't there anymore.

What to do now?

Also, how does one check if USEM has received our papers? I tried checking the appointment schedule, entered our case numbers but it says that our case numbers are not on the appointment list. Can we track the packet NVC has supposedly sent to USEM? My husband has received his copy of the appointment letter and it was dated October 28, and it said that they had forwarded our papers to USEM already.
