Hello mommies!

To the new mommies: Congratulations!!! naku, nadagdagan na naman ang mga little boys...let's go girls :)

Frosty - I had some spotting lang the other day, tapos yesterday wala, tapos ngayon meron ulit. I guess kasi nagb-breastfeed pa ako kahit paano. You should have you period around the 3rd month post-partum.

RR - Maizy has been holding her head up since she was 2 week old and has been sitting in her Bumbo for about a month na. Kusa nga sya nagli-lean forward pag nasa car seat nya. since type nya ang nakatayo, we found her an evenflo ultrasaucer sa goodwill and i have begun putting her there so she can stand (or sit) to her heart's delight...mabigat sya 'no, di ko matagalan yung tinatayo sya. Of course, since di pa nya kaya ang katawan nya, i have to put some support around her body para di bumagsak ang katawan nya forward sa ultrasaucer nya. Will post pics of that soon :) She can also pull herself up from lying position without any head lag when I take her hands. Roll over? hindi pa. Then again, she is just barely 3 months old. She weighed 12.2 lbs when she turned 2 months and i am sure she must've gained over a pound already. She is into 3-6 month clothing na because of her height, although di naman sya mataba.

Am thinking baka maaga mag-ipin si Maizy; she drools a lot sometimes. I can see a pair of whitish depressed spots dun sa lalabasan ng first teeth nya (the middle incisors). Got her a teether kasi lahat gusto ilagay sa bibig. She has a doll baby and, awa ng Dyos, deretso sa bibig pag bigay sa kanya...basa yung ulo and hands nung doll nya  Will post a pic of that, too.

First of all, I wanna congratulate all the moms and moms-to-be and the dads and the excited dads-to-be  . I hope you all have healthy babies. I just wanna introduce myself to everyone and to my kababayans, I've only been a member for a week and I really find this site helpful. I'm also a Filipina and I'm petitioning my fiancee in the Philippines. We got our NOA1 on feb 8 and we're still waiting for the NOA2. The wait is really frustrating.. lol. I check this site and the uscis site daily for updates and each day I'm crossing my fingers whenever I sign in on the status check page.. hoping for a touch.. haaay.. ang tagal.. Anyways, I'm not pregnant yet but I really love reading this thread. I want to be a mom na din!! haha. Its been 8 months na din since I last went back.. and we really miss each other.. Sana talaga maapprove na sya.. By the way, I was gonna ask sana kung may iba din dito na USC filipina who's got a beneficiary in the Philippines like me. I wanted to know sana kung ano yung possible problems na maeencounter namin because I'm really stressed out and worried that things might not get along well. I mean we really love each other so much pero I wanna be ready para if we were to face a problem, I would have broader understanding and would know how to handle it. By the way, I'm 25, and I'm still with my parents. RJ and I already made plans na we'd get an apartment once he comes here to prevent yung issue na "manugang-biyenan" complex. Lol. Inputs pleasee....

hi haze! you are welcome here anytime :)

don't know how much help i'm gonna be to you. yes, it is stressful to have to wait and see what happens but, then again, it tests the limits of your relationhip. Just make sure you have all the necessary documents needed and all the proof you have of your relationship. Prayer helps a lot, of course :innocent:

Good Luck to you both :)

Curious lang ako, since Doc ka sa PH, pagdating ba dito is Doc din ang makukuhang mong job? or you need to take exams pa? Kasi after I took 4 yr course sa Pinas ay nagtake ako ng Caregiving tas may mga classmate akong doctor. Nagtatake sila nun pra daw mabilis makaalis sa Pinas. I just don't know now kung caregiver ba cla pagdating dito or Doc pa din :)

Si Zac kasievery 2-3 hrs gising then dede, change ng diaper, play, watch tv then sleep then ganun ulit. Pero I am happy now kasi may sleeping pattern na cya. Sa gabi eh natutulog talaga cya at gigising lang pra change ng diaper at dede then go back to sleep ulit. Mabilis cyang makatulog sa gabi. I guess dim light also helps him to sleep fast.

"I think" yun ang reason hehe. Oo lakas pa din dumede ni Zac.

No. I have to take the 3-part US board exam (the 2nd part is made up of 2 sub-parts), which will take me some time to finish...siguro 4 or 5 na si maizy by then. And then I will have to re-do my residency training all over again which is another 3 years. There should be a lot of caregiver jobs here, as I have seen on craigslist. The work I applied for was for a research coordinator at a research clinic not far from here. Have not heard from them yet, although sabi naman nila baka abutin ng next week ang notification. I guess they would not have called me for an interview if they did not find me fit for the position. Bahala na, but I am still hoping as I am really eager to go back to work...I had been working since passing the Phil board till a week before leaving the Phils.

Pink - LOL. she got Daddy's hair...pati ugali yata  And she "fist-sucks", too. :) She is happiest pag tinatayo sya...and she is just about 2.5 months. She doesn't want to lay around much. She regularly sits in her bumbo, especially if she is awake during our mealtime. She has just about established her sleeping schedule. She is up at around 7:30am, starts getting sleepy around 10am, naps till about 1pm, another nap around 4pm, wakes at 6pm then gets sleepy again around 9pm. Of course, in between those hours she feeds, pees and poops, plays with Mommy or Ate or Daddy, spends time in her swing or her bouncy seat or under her crib mobile or on her playmat. She finishes an entire 4oz bottle of formula in addition to breastmilk so that she has about 4-5 bottles in an entire 24-hour period. She is nearly the width of her pack-n-play so that I may not be able to use the changing table part of it in the next month or so. Haay...ang bilis ng panahon...I miss her newborn baby-ness already :(

Marybeth - naku, you'll never know; baka after a couple of years gustuhin mo ulit mag-baby. :innocent: But if you really don't want anymore kids, a tubal ligation or Essure would be a permanent fix. I never want to go on the pill kasi nga I am quite sure that I will fore more than just 1 time to take it. Plus the myriad of side effects (weightgain, hypertension, migraines, etc) aren't exactly enticing. BTW...Cleveland ka pala. Dito kami in Dayton, about 3 hours south. I've relatives in Kent :)

Eve - good for you. We want to be able to do that too kaya lang malaking gastos since 4 kami. Alec is 75% air fare, Maizy would be free, but still malaking pera pa rin yun. Instead, my brother is flying in with my mother this November, along with an aunt and uncle. Pati yung pinsan kong jet-setter pupunta din daw dito. Will spend Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays here. Now that would be real fun to look forward to :)

Been quite busy lately. Am awaiting the outcome of a job interview I had last Monday. Hopefully they hire me as I am really wanting to go back to work in a familiar environment. Plus, it would be really nice to be able to make some $$$ on my own :innocent:

Siguro by using condom eh mas benefited sa among dalawa kasi nasa bahay lang naman siya 2 weeks or less. Ayaw ko lang talagang masundan agad si panganay..lol..Sabi pa niya eh bat daw ako worried eh it took us almost 7 months para magbuntis..hay..We will try again for our boy after a year siguro at sana boy na nga para happy..

lol...it took us a year and a half...

Mga mommies confused ako ngayon, please enlighten me.

It took us almost 7 months para mabuntis ako. Then yung hubby ko is working offshore so ang hirap tumiming sa rhythm method. Ayaw ko na nga lang magsalita kasi everytime magsasalita ako eh I screw up.. :help: :help: :help: :help:

Ever discussed this with your OB? My OB discussed birth control with us and we both agreed that I won't go on the pill kasi nga I am breastfeeding and, although there are progetin-only pills for breastfeeding women, i don't like taking pills because of the side-effects. We are deciding now on the hormone-releasing IUD Mirena or, if we don't want to give Maizy a younger sibling, either Essure or vasectomy...if ico-cover ng insurance. Otherwise, we are doing rhythm plus withdrawal/condom.

thanks

hmm...shiela, baka naman kelangan palitan ang formula. the earliest i started semi-solids was just before 4 months with Alec.

Maizy had her 2-month check and 1st set of vaccines yesterday :) She is now 12.2 lbs and 23.5 inches tall...doc said she looks like a 4-month old na :) Simply amazed at how well she holds her head up and "stands" on my lap, "jumping" at times. She is in the 90th percentile for weight and height. Maizy showed of by smiling and "talking" to the doc :D She was given DTP, Polio, H. influenza in one thigh and Pneumonia (Prevnar) in another thigh. And oh, how she cried! Lalo when she was given the pneumonia shot kasi the needle was bigger (malapot kasi yung vaccine). She calmed down with a bottle of milk, but she was listless and irritable the whole day. She slept a lot and ate little, which is expected after vaccination. Thankfully, there was no fever; probably just pain hence the irritability. She will go back after 2 months for her 2nd set of shots. No vitamins were given since, according to her doc, "she gets all A's in this check-up".

i couldn't wait any longer for maizy's check-up (which is on thursday) to ask about her on-and-off facial and scalp rash. went online and consulted with a confraternity sis of mine who is a pedia at St Luke's Med Center (not the st luke's extension clinic). She basically confirmed my suspicion of seborrheic dermatitis and that it was a form of hypersensitivity and interrelated with eczematous and atopic dermatitis. So......we've shifted her to Similac Isomil and will look for the mildest baby oil, shampoo and baby wash available. And the`weakest preparation of hydrocortisone. I swear...ang hirap magpadoktor dito. And impersonal, too. Can't help but compare my practice in the Phils to the medical practice here. I have yet to encounter a doc here with really good patient care, one who isn't impersonal, you know? My pet peeve? Calling the doc's office and getting the nurse's answering service. Sorry to be ranting some...am just frustrated

pag off si hubby, he'd ask kung ano gusto ko gawin or kung saan ko gusto pumunta. minsan sya magyayaya and we'd be out the whole day. if we have to go out to get smething, di kami umuuwi kaagad.

i was driving up to a few days i gave birth...driving an SUV at that. hubby trusts my driving; di naman ako lumalayo masyado e :) being able to drive is liberating!

same talaga tau.. 30min drive din ang parents ng asawa ko... ganon din ginagawa ng asawa ko.. pina pa una nya me sleep.. sya ang mag bantay..
tapos nong sat.. pina laag2x nya ako with his mom para daw d ako ma bored d2.. para maka labas2x daw din me minsan.. buti alam nya hehee...

it may be a good idea to learn how to drive. pag nasa work si hubby and si Ate nasa school, i drive to wal-mart or wherever na kasama si maizy para maglibang. i don't mind na kami lang dalawa, maski sa bahay. i take her with me around the house in a carrier pag gising at ayaw mahiwalay sa akin. or we'd spend an hour or so na naglalaro or "nag-uusap". it's a nice kind of pagod :luv:

any mommies here na may plano na bumili nang "your baby can read" program?

not really sure yet. i mean, if it's that simple as they demostrate, you can always fashion our own word boards and show baby what that word means, di ba?

My 7-year-old did not use such a program and she skipped 1st grade and reads at a mid-third to early 4th grade level :) Maintains constant A's, too!

hello to all!

Wow...ngayon lang naging LAPtop itong laptop ko in a loooong while :)

Maizy has been asleep for nearly 2 hours now in her pack-n-play with some Vivaldi playing in the background, and so I have been able to actually do laundry without carrying her in a sling. She now has a new "need", it seems. Only discovered it yesterday after a lot of fussing. Nappy has been changed, breast and bottle fed and burped already, not sleepy but still cried and cried. Sat her on my lap facing me and began telling her that she has got to stop all the fussing and lo, and behold, she stopped  Turned out that she just wanted to "talk" with somebody. Geez.... At sasagot pa...well, at least, she tries to :) I just couldn't help but shake my head, but I acquiesed to what she wanted. Nga lang, with some dinner to prepare, a 7-year-old to teach, and having to run to the bathroom every X minutes (tummy flu :( ), it's really hard to keep talking to this little one and keep her entertained. No, she did not want her toys, either. I don't mind, really, as long as I am able to get some other things done. I still have another load of laundry to take care of; hopefully, she wakes when I am done :innocent:

Am currently loading up on saltine crackers and grape-flavored Gatorade to keep me hydrated despite the tummy flu. Yes, I still breastfeed, hence the fluid loads.

@pink - lol...at least it wasn't a dream na ang resulta e muntik mo na makagat ulo ng baby mo :D when alec was a baby, nanaginip ako na nas baguio kami ng mom ko and there was a fruit tree that bore round hairy fruit. pumitas daw ako ng isa para kainin...tamang-tama na nagising ako at kaharap ko yung likod ng ulo ni alec (she was born with a lot of hair). nakatulog kami nang nakatagilid sya at nakatalikod sa akin

Maizy a fit-ful (not fitful) day yesterday. She slept well sunday night but the entire day yesterday, gusto nya matulg nang matulog. Nga lang, iyak ng iyak dahil di makuha tulog nya and she wouldn't take her binky; she wanted food, be it from the breast or the bottle. ang dami nyang naubos na gatas a...mga 4-5 bottles na 4 oz, and thn yung breastmilk pa. salitan kami ng daddy nya trying to calm her down...buti na lang off si daddy. :innocent: pati si ate alec tumulong din. shes still fussy today. of course, her soiling her clothes with some poop didn't help kasi napaliguan sya ng wala sa oras (dapat sana tonight pa before bedtime) haay...she may be going thru another growth spurt. she's approximately 11 lbs, maybe more, and 22.5 inches tall, give or take. my bad right shoulder is taking a beating from lifting her and carrying her around  and i have put away 2 more of her clothes. sana gumanda na ang panahon; she has some dresses that i would like her to wear kasi

haay salamat...finally, nakahanap ako ng pacifier na hiyang kay maizy na pamalit dun sa binigay ng hospital  yung silicone na orthodontic pacifier ayaw nya kasi masyado yata malambot at manipis, unlike itong bago. it's supposed to feel like how an ctal nipple reshapes when she breastfeeds; apparently masyadong nagfa-flatten yung silicone pacifier.

oh...hubby is finally home :) maagang umuwi :luv:

Oo madaldal talaga yan! gustong gustong kinakausap tapos sasagot din cya lol! puyat ako now kasi kanina pang 5AM gising si Zac til now (12:34PM na). walang ginawa kundi kain, peepee, daldal, kain, peepee, daldal

he-he...ganun na nga :D gave me a box of chocolates today when we went to have lunch with him at work. maizy got a furry stuffed heart, and alec got a smaller box of choco  will join him later for supper (hanggang 11pm sya e).

took maizy to church today, as usual. for some reason mabait sya pag nasa church, walang iyak-iyak. but pag-alis namin, ayan na

Doc Gracey, I want to buy baby sling too.

hubby works weekends so that a v-day "date" was really doomed from the start (melodramatic?). tampo ako sa kanya kasi last night pag-uwi nya ni wala man lang kiss hanggang sa matulog na sya (he had to go to bed early kasi nga may work thenext day). pagkapasok sa pinto, "hi" lang tapos deretso nang naligo tapos pagbaba e deretso sa laptop nya :crying: hmph! tampo talaga ako!

anyway, happy v-day to all!

pink - buti pa si zac, ok lang sa kanya nakahiga. itong si maizy, hay naku, the baby sling and carrier gets a lot of use with her. about the sling, while usong-uso dito, sa pinas ngayon pa lang yata nag-umpisa or recently lang. my sister sent me one, (proudly philippine-made, o diba), maybe thinking wala dito. sabi it can carry kids as old as a year...ewan ko lang. it's either i use that or the baby carrier. when she wants to feed and i have to carry her around, sling yung ginagamit ko. nakaktulog sya in it minsan :)

more than a year na ako dito pero di pa ako nakapasok sa goodwill store...hubby ko kasi ayaw nya he always tell me okay you can go inside and il just wait outside...of course ayaw ko rin ng ganun...maybe someday but i dont know when hahay...

yung baby ko medyo di pa talaga fully control yung head nya kaya di ko sya kini-carry facing my shoulder kasi nabubunggo nya head nya sa shoulder ko then nasasaktan sya kasi ba naman eh butot balat ako...kaya diretso sa buto yung mukha nya...i just hold him make him face na nakaharap...

my hubby loves a bargain, and so do i. mahal ang bilihin dito kaya we find the best deals we can. madami na rin kaming nakuha from goodwill and thrift shops. wag ka, madaming tao pumupunta sa mga stores like these...mas madami kesa yung mga pumupunta ng mall  of course, some stuff we hve to buy brand new. but like the swing and the jumper and the exersaucer, di naman kasi gagamitin ng bata for a long time so on the practical side, why get brand new, di ba? like the previous owners nung mga yun, di na magamit ng mga kids nila so ayun na nga, binigay na sa goodwill. you'll be surprised sometimes at what you find there kasi some items are new and never been opened

si maizy, ambisyosa nga tawag ng mom ko kasi nga she could hold her head for long periods of time na shortly before she turned a month old. yung over-the-shoulder ang favorite nya. at times, gusto nya na itatayo mo sya and you could feel her legs stiffening to hold herself up. other times, pag dinapa ng daddy nya sa dibdib nya, aba e gusto nya akyatin daddy nya till she can see over his shoulder. haay, ambisyosa nga.

she will after awhile then titigil pag hawak na ni mommy :) i found a fix yesterday: found a $5 fisher price baby take-along swing at goodwill :) so ngayon, mas libre na ako kumilos :)

Alec - di naman nagseselos. pag umiiyak si maizy, agad nya pinupuntahan at susubukan patahanin. pag di na talaga nya mapatahan, saka ako tatawagin :)

Hi mga mommies!!!

May tanong ako sa inyo...

Dapat ba talaga i shake yung bottle pag gumamit ng formula, kasi nag start ako gumamit ng formula kahapon, i give up breast feeding.

yes, you need to shake the bottle or di madi-dissolve yung milk. so far, no bubbles when i make formula (am using playtex drop-ins and soothie). i use distilled water since learning that tap water and mineral water have some trace amounts of some things that a young baby's kidneys can't process yet.

i am still breastfeeding up to now. masakit breasts mo kasi puno ng gatas. you can either pump or feed it to your baby; the more you breastfeed/pump, the more milk you produce. but if you don't want to breastfeed, just pump it pag puno na, nga lang, masakit talaga [ag punong-puno.

si maizy kasi gusto nya upright sya lagi. we set the bumbo up on the kitchen table where we eat para nakikita nya kami. she doesn't stay long kasi gusto nya nakadikit sa akin but at least she gets to sit for awhile.

yung bounce toy, the closest we got was an exersaucer (which we got free on craigslist --- no toys on this one pero she can use her own toys on it. tsaka FREE :D ). On a trip to the goodwill outlet, we found a nice clean johnny jumper (the kind you hang from a doorway) for 79 cents a pound :) Of course, di pa magamit kasi she can't hold her back yet. yung bumbo kasi supports her body so that she can sit. see this vid:

still better than $50 for something you'll only use for awhile. sinwerte lang ako. matagal na rin ako naghahanap ng mura. bihirayung presyo na nakuha namin so, maski maaga pa, kinuha na namin.

Ahh ganun ba. That gave me an idea of buying bumpo seat. Siguro I'll buy na lang sa Once Upon A Child kapag maganda na panahon. Thanks! :)

try mo rin craigslist...is cheaper usually than once upon a child

May tanong pala ako, when ba dapat ilagay si baby sa Bumpo seat?

Sabi 3 months, when baby has good control of his head. We tried Maizy in one already kasi even at 6 weeks, my brother says that she has very good control of her head na :) We got one on craigslist for just $15, including the tray :) :) :) It retails brand new for nearly $40 and another $10 for the tray.

kasi nag argue kami ng asawa ko... kung ako pag gutom c JM feed ko sya.. tapos sabi naman ng asawa ko we need to wait 3hrs..
kaya nakaniyak talaga ako.. kasi y we need to wait 3 hrs.. tapos gusto nya pag umiyak hayaan muna.. eh ako d ko kaya kasi patagalin..

he is planning to schedule my baby feeding time, sleeping time..

:-(

Tell hubby that babies that young don't settle into a routine just yet, although some are beginning to. Baby will dictate what he wants when he wants it, not Mommy and Daddy :star: And you don't need to wait 3 hours till next feeding. Babies cry for a variety of reasons; he's either: wet, hungry, tired, uncomfortable or in pain, wants to be held, overstimulated, sleepy. Read his cries (or try to). You'll note that each feeling has a different cry. Short cries usually tell you he's hungry or is uncomfortable or wet. It's ok not to pick him up right away when he cries. Try to wait a while and see if he'll calm down by himself. Si Maizy, iiyak tapos titigil sandali, as if trying to calm herself, tapos iiyak ulit.
