thank u..

i grew up observing my mother/aunt/cousins sterilizing water for my sister's/cousin's/nephew's/niece's use. when bottled water came out, and my eldest was born, her pedia was one of the known pedias and she advised using distilled water as some constituents of mineral water wasn't really good for a very young baby, unlike distilled water which has nothing but pure water in it. so, i use distilled water for maizy :)

doc gracey- yup sa sams club namin binili yung huggies kasi nakakatipid kami...yung baby wipes rin sa sams club, may similac din sa sams club kaso wala akong nakitang similac sensitive kaya sa walmart kami bumili...hmmm im not that particular about the diaper kasi basta may diaper lang sya okay na kaya i cant really say if its work good ba or not...

yung store brand ng sam's na formula, bumili kami...parent's choice ang pangalan sa walmart. same ang content with enfamil and similac, but wala yung katumbas ng sensitive sa sam's but yung parent's choice meron. i do have 5$ off na coupons for similac though, so i will use those.

went to my wic apptment, did not get any coupon for formula, even if i told them that i supplement breastfeeding. Naging stricto daw sila after wic changed their policy about that nung october. They did offer me a better, hospital-grade pump after i told them that it took a lot of time to pump even just 2 oz. so i will go to a clinic tomorrow for that. ok na rin na bumili kami ng formula, i guess, kasi lahat naman kami nakikinabang dun sa food na binibigay nila :)

Hello mga mommies!!!!

Pupunta na ako sa hospital tonight at 8 pm...hay naku ,kinakabahan talaga ako..sana walang problema sa delivery ko at sa baby.

I need all your prayers....

you need to relax...cge ka pag tense ka, baka tumaas presyon mo --- hopefully not :innocent: bring some relaxing music with you (ipod or mp3 or cd player). have hubby rub your feet. basta, relax lang and just think about the fact that in a very short time you'll see your precious one :star:

Buti at tumawag ka sa pedia. Siguro nalilito yo'ng nurse last time kayo nando'n. :)

Ilang beses mo ba chini-change diaper ni Tyree a day?

hmm...parang mas mura yata huggies a when i went to get some...

rr - are you using the sam's club one? how is it?

Magpapadala din kasi mom ko ng mga ibang bilin ko and i will add that up. Thanks for this tip, I really want to breastfeed.

i guess. mom got it at mercury drug :)

Doc Gracey, yup you are right  Mongolian Spot nga yung tinutukoy ko. I know na mawawala din yung kaya ko lang naman naitanong kasi nacurious ako dahil "mixed" ang mga babies natin. And btw, Pampers Swaddlers ang gamit ni Zac at meron cyang indicator :) There is a yellow line sa diaper kapag dry ito then it turns blue kapag wet na dahil sa poopoo/pee.

lol...no, maizy doesn't have H1N1 vaccine yet...when she turns 6 months, she should be able to get it. Will ask her doc then :) For now, she carries the antibodies that I produced when I got my shot.

Pampers...there are certain packs that don't have the indicator, as I discovered yesterday at the store  Inuubos ko lang yung Huggies na newborn size. I was given several packs of size 1 diapers during the baby shower and will be starting those soon :)

Sa amin kasi we decided not to.

i'm a doc....so it's definitely a yes  Alec is up-to-date on her vaccines, including the H1N1. Polio can be devastating...better to be on the safe side than be sorry later on. it just isn't worth it to gamble on your child's health.

umm, i got a coupon for a can of similac which expires jan 31. will know tomorrow if they will give me some more. nakukulitan ako sa lactation consultant nila; feeling ko they think i don't know what the heck i'm doing when it comes to breastfeeding maizy...baka mali daw pag-latch and she isn't getting enough milk out --- nakikita ko kaya at naririnig yung pag-swallow nya, no; minsan tutulo pa from her mouth pag bumitaw na sya. bahala sila...

I want to try to find a place where I could maybe find a used baby crib (bed) and stroller (buggy) now. Am wondering where we will find those things. My wife says it is too early...but she said the same about EVERYTHING in the marriage and immigration process too. It always ends up being that if you get things going early all will be ok later, but if wait too long then nothing is in place when it has to be.

Brian in Tennessee

try craigslist. we got a lot of stuff on there. just be careful; i never went to pick up stuff without my husband, and we checked out the area it was coming from. women are usually the ones selling their used baby stuff online; some stuff we got were basically never used.

we got a very good crib mattress and a bassinet from a shop named Once Upon A Child. look for one in your area. they have strollers too. you will need a carseat to take your baby home from the hospital, and it really isn't advisable to get a second-hand one. Ours is an evenflo which we bought during a store sale for $50.

Feeling ko masgusto ng anak ko yung NUK kasi yung tsupon nya was designed daw to imitate the mom's nipples.

Brijo, I am glad that your wife's morning sickness is finally over (hopefully :)).

there are nipples that are slow flow for 0-3 months :)

am taking Pro-Lacta na padala ng mom ko. 2 caps 3 x a day. pansin ko parang dumami gatas ko kasi pag nakapagdede si maizy at both breasts, ok na sya, although sometimes naghahanap pa`sya. sayang, maski sore, sana nakapag-pump ka or hand-expression.

oh the spots...they are called "mongolian spots"...totally benign and will disappear in time :) Haven't seen any on Maizy...

RR, sheila and Pink - thank you. sabi nga ng sister ko, pisngi daw na tinubuan ng mukha  sometimes she looks like hubby, sometimes like me. I think she is going thru a growth spurt right now kasi biglang lakas nya dumedede, both sa bottle and sa akin. Punong-puno yung breasts ko kagabi and inubos nya at dinig na dinig yung pag-inom at paglunok nya but gutom pa sya after.

About sa pasensya ng hubby, hay...Hubby is very patient with her crying. He likes holding her; minsan, tulog sya na hawak ko o kaya nasa bassinet pero kukunin nya pa rin, lalo when he comes home from work. He tries to figure out why she is crying, at walang pero-pero ang pag palit ng diaper pag kelangan. He doesn't like Pampers Swaddlers that much kasi walang indicator, unlike Huggies Snugglers. Iba talaga siguro pag ina :)

Bottles..Maizy uses Playtex Drop-ins most times; sometimes yung Soothie bottles. The nipples of the Drop-Ins are much softer than most other nipples at ka-korte ng breast. But she really has no preference...basta may gatas na lalabas :D The drop-in system, the disposable bags collapse onto itself during feeding kaya walang air talaga. I found Parents Choice na disposable bags that are much cheaper than the Playtex ones, so ok na rin.

Shiela, if you are really willing to breastfeed eh i-try mo yung herbal tea na Organic Mother's Milk. Nakakapagpagatas daw yang tea na yan. I didn't try it kasi hindi ako mahilig sa hot tea. According sa WIC meron din daw pills that will help you produce milk pero you need prescription sa doc.

hay...time flies talaga... i miss her "newborness" (save for the puyat, though)

thank u so much,. by the way d talaga ako breastfeeding kasi nga wala syado naga labas na milk sa aking suso
cguro ma bigyan ko lang nga talaga sya ng breastmilk 2 times a day.. the rest is formunla.
nag increase ako ng formula now 2oz -3 oz.. feed ko sya after 2-3 hrs.

naga popo sya once a day.. color yellow pero sobrang dami naman..

you may want to speak to a lactation consultant. again...the more you breastfeed (or pump), the more milk you'll produce. also, drink plenty of fluids daily. At first konti lang talaga ma-pump mo.

ok...

Maizy turned a month old today (oh where has the time gone???). She is now 9.11 lbs (8 lbs 6 oz at birth, 7.49 lbs on discharge) and 22 inches tall (21 inches at birth) She is definitely not as "good" a baby as her Ate was...I swear, she is developing her personality (and an attitude to boot!)

This was taken during one of her "quiet", "good li'l girl" times. Sorry for the dim lighting...she is much fairer than she appears :star:

your milk supply will dwindle if you don't breastfeed. at the start, i would breastfeed first just so the baby could get the colostrum, then kung gutom pa siya saka ako magbibigay ng formula.

MOmmies... Thank sa help.. now wala na naga POPO baby ko everytime i feed him..
he is sleeping.. kaya kanina pag naka sleep din ako.. bawi ako 2log hehehe..

anway ask me questions ulit..
right side? left side?? or hayaan lang naka tihaya??
pag ilagay na sya sa crib..

thanks...

Keep him on his back to prevent SIDS. Swaddling will help, too.

Watch out for his poop, though. Newborns will usually have a lot of poopy diapers in the first few days, lalo pag breastfed. The iron in formula can make him constipated. Really...pooping after feeding is NORMAL.

saan mo ba nakuha yang every 4 hours na yan? hehehehehe...mas mabuti talagang pag aralan mo baby mo...simple lang naman gusto nyan...kain, change diaper, tulog, or attention...wag masyadong maging obedient sa mga "rules" to take care of the baby kasi iba iba naman yung babies kaya as a mom you should know the needs of your baby and make your own strategy in taking care of your baby...and life will be easy. hehehehe...

hehehehe multi tasking mom...hehehehehe...nakaka addict talaga ang vj noh.

I really don't know where that advice came from. I think I remember Alec feeding every 4 hours nung 6 month n sya yata.

my sister sent me a baby sling so that maski nagluluto ako or doing the laundry, kayang gawin :)

I will take all ur advice..
yes I agree 4 hrs is too long talaga to wait.. now we starts every 2 hours feeding.. naka help sya
now naka sleep na sya...

pag my popo sya alam ko kasi cry sya at pag mag pepe sya cry sya also..
kagabi at until madaling araw.. i am sure his stomach very upset doon sa formula na gamit namin from the hosp.

pina dede naman namin sya agad. now around 12:30pm pina dede namin.. good.. d sya nag POPO nag UTOT lang sya.
now he is sleeping.. so i will not wait na mag wild sya bago ko ipa dede..

nag formula kami now POWDER.. we give him 1 1/2 oz pina pa ubos ko un.. so okey na ito every 2 hrs right??

thank u so much.. about breasfeeding nag try ako.. pero d ko talaga kaya ang sakit na..
sugat sa tummy ko and plus the 2 nipple..maka iyak na ako sa sakit. kaya sabi ko sa hubby ko
formula nalang muna.. try ko mag pump mamaya sana my lalabas na..

thanks to all..

you can take pain relievers for the pain. as for the nipples, make sure the baby is latchin on properly. you can use nipple cream too for the soreness --- kasama yan sa pagiging ina :) and, yes, pump as often as you can to get that milk out. it's not going to be much at the start. but be patient.

note: breastfeeding will hasten uterine contraction and help with your postpartum bleeding :)

am breastfeeding while typing this..... :star:

thanks for the reply.. so it means, pwde every 2 hours ko ipadede ang baby ko?

so it means.. gutom or hindi.. every 2 hrs ko sya pwdeng ipa dede..
tama ba??

thank u. need ur help.. :-)

yup. every 2 hours or every hour. trying feeding him from the breast to get your supply going...and that much needed colostrum, too.

no, i don't have the baby in the bed; she sleeps in her bassinet, swaddled, on her back. :)

then pag nawala sa mouth nya iyak2x sya... WALA TALAGA AKO 2LOG as in..

hmm...never got that kind of advice. I gave instructions kasi before givng birth that i want to purely breastfeed as much as possible. Of course, Maizy had the occasional bottle at th ehospital...she probably only consumed 3 of the ready-to-feed Similac. Otherwise, she was breastfed.

We came home from the hospital 2 days after Maizy was born. Sleeplessness is a given as your time is mostly spent on feeding and changing diapers. A newborn's stomach is just about the size of a 1-inch bouncy ball so that the little breastmilk that he gets from you should be enough. Of course, if he is breastfed, he will get hungry again faster than if he is formula-fed. We also had a sleepless night the first night at home. Every hour gumgising ako/kami to either feed the baby or change her. Yes, it is normal for the baby to poop after every feeding. As much as possible, we stay away from formula, although now at 4 weeks she is hungry before I get my supply of breastmilk back so that nagsu-supplement kami. A newborn will feed (breastmilk) at least every hour. Stay away from the clock, if you can. Feed him when he is hungry.

Pacifier...in my opinion, it's not really a good idea to train the baby to use the pacifier. I am sure the one that the hospital used is the green Soothie one? Sucking is a newborn baby's thing that offers him comfort, not necessarily meaning that he is hungry all the time. He may just want to be held (just as we learned). Listen carefully to your baby's cry...you'll find out that a certain kind of cry means a certain need...either hunger, wet/dirty nappy, or just wanting some company. I only use the pacifier as a last resort. If you can't resist using it, get an orthodontic one...will prevent some dental growth problems that may appear after using a nipple-like pacifier. Try singing/humming to him, holding him close to you, or rocking him a bit to calm him down. During the night, keep lights at a minimum and if you need to change a nappy, make it a quick change. And if he does cry, don't wait until he starts screaming his head off...mahirap nang patahanin pag ganun.

The first week home is always the hardest week. Rest when you can. Hayaan mo si hubby to do the housework since you obviously can't do it. Drink plenty of fluids to get your breastmilk supply going; the more you breastfeed, the more milk you'll make. Oh...try swaddling the baby during sleepy time; I found that it works really great kasi he isn't startled with his own involuntary movements :star:

My cousins from Canada and Chicago and their respective kids were all too excited to make the drive to come and play godparents and see us. I last saw my Canadian cousins some 4 years ago --- at our grandmother's funeral. My Canadian ones, well, we saw them last July when we went to visit. So it is a reunion of sorts for us, and at a fun season, too! :) Mine is a very closely-knit family so that we treat each other as siblings almost. Their kids were wanting to take turns holding Maizy and took to Alec as if they had known her closely her whole life. We filled up about 3 pews in the church. The ceremony was witnessed by the entire church community and was part of the Mass, which made the event even more special. We got well-wishes from some of the parishioners whom we had no idea who they were; was very nice to be acknowledged. Parishioners who were the month's birthday celebrants took part in Maizy's baptism, too, as they were asked to make the sign of the Cross on her forehead. Totally different from baptismal ceremonies in the Philippines. Iba ang baptism dito...people are friendlier towards you, di tulad sa Pinas na "to each his own" and pakikisama ng mga tao who aren't your friends or relatives.

Also, it was wise advice from the family elders to have the baby baptized before taking her out to anywhere. :star:

Thanks pink and frosty for that info, so pano nila malalaman kung nasa position na baby before delivery thru ultrasound din ba? I mean kung breech ba o hindi. Sorry curious lang ako.

Oo nga doc gracey catholic ba? Bakit me baptismal class pa at yung letter pa from the parish priest ng mga Godparents. Di rin catholic husband ko pero open naman sya sa idea and we are planning to do the baptismal in the Phils. kahit later na.

yes, she was baptized catholic. was done as part of the Mass, so that it was basically not just a family event but a community event. She was introduced to the community at th end of the Mass :) Even sa pinas, may baptismal class na din na requirement before you can have your child baptized. Yung letter, yun ay kung ibang town or state yung godparents; if they are within the same city, di na kelangan. Just making sure na Katoliko nga yung mga ninong and ninang. We had her baptized right away because 1) to take advantage of Hubby being on leave (he works weekends kasi), 2) habang bakasyon pa yung mga ninong and ninang (she was baptized Jan 3), and 3) para matapos na. Alec was baptized when she was just 5 days old :)

Been home for a couple of days now at sumasakit lalo..Hay kaya binili ko na yung prescription pero iinumin ko lang to kung hindi ko na matake yung sakit..Tama ka pink, takot na takot akong magpopo at umihi kasi baka bumuka yung tahi ko..Hay sana maghilom na ito..

Breastfeeding promotes the release of oxytocin (which is basically the Pitocin given in inducing labor) which stimulates your uterus to contract, hence the cramping :star:

hello sa mga mommies...second time ko lang magpost dito pero always akong nagbabasa sa thread na ito, nakakabawas ng takot lalo na pag nakakabasa ako na nanganak ng di masyadong nahirapan, at natatakot kapag merong mommy na nahirapan sa panganak :)
meron lang akong mga tanong samga mommy na. :innocent:

1. No, you'll have to wait for the bill. We are still waiting for ours...kakanerbiyos

2. I never saw it necessary to enroll, but it's up to you.

3. Hmm...can't recall really...

4. Yes, may binyag dito. But you have to attend a pre-baptismal parents' class. Maizy was born Dec 25. We had the baptismal class in October and Maizy was baptized Jan 3. Her godparents came in from Toronto and Chicago, and their rule is that if the godparents are from out of town that they need to present a letter from their parish priest that they are active members of their parish.

5. as for the passport, I have no idea. Your baby will be a US citizen at birth and will thus have a US passport. As for your passport, make an inquiry at the Philippine consulate covering your area.

thank you...

Hello.. thanks for the message ;-) NICKNAME nya J.M

hehehe...thanks

The very first day I got home from the hospital, I was raring to go and take a nice long shower....and I did! So...check with your OB. Mine told me that i could take a shower...not a tub bath though...and to pat the wound dry. Had my hubby check the wound every so often simply because I can't do it myself (hubby is a nurse anyhow). Being stubborn as I am, I had no problems negotiating the stairs, although I would spend much of the time downstairs with the baby. Did not do laundry till 2 weeks postpartum, as with driving (stubborn nga eh! :bonk: ). It's been 3 weeks since the CS and I have resumed driving to church with Maizy in tow (of course, she draws a lot of attention). I am practically going against everything I was advised on discharge  What can I say...I just can't stand not being able to do what I need or want to do B)

Hello

First of all, congratulations! And welcome to the start of months of sleeplessness :)

Don't stop breastfeeding your son. He may not be getting "real" milk yet, but he is getting the much-needed and very precious colostrum. In three days, the milk that we all know will start coming in. Besides, he doesnt need a great deal of milk to fill up his tiny tummy...think about a tablespoonful. That being said, expect him to be up almost every hour to feed...though he may fall asleep while feeding. When he cries, it can only be either gutom sya or a dirty/wet diaper.

With you being a CS, your actions are limited so that most of the work will be on your hubby. Mine changed Maizy's diapers the entire time that we were in the hospital...mahirap yata magkikikilos pag bagong CS, no? The first time you stand is like.....hell (for lack of a better word to use). Even trying to pee or poo is hell as well...at least for me it was. When you get home, you cannot overexert yourself, as your doctor/nurse will tell you on discharge.

So, with these being said, do enjoy the start of the neverendin journey thru motherhood :) Have fun! :star:

Two down...just marybeth to go...patapos na yung "second wave" ng mga sunud-sunod na dapat manganak... :star:

Although that time eh lam kong ala na cyang jaundice pero minsan nakakaalarma talaga hehe.

I have my WIC appointment this Tuesday. Sana makapasa ulit. Mixed feeding si Maizy...would we be getting food coupons AND formula? Got 2 sample cans from Enfamil (one is the Gentlease kind) and a $5 check/coupon. After that, wala pa ako nakukuha from them. signed up with Similac, too, but have yet to receive anything fromt hem.

Thankfully, walang problema si Maizy with her poopoo. Is watery/soft/seedy as expected. Yun nga lang, maaksaya sa diaper kasi kapapalit lang ng wet diaper, maya-maya ayun, iire na sya (and you can hear her poop, too! ). But it's fine na rin; at least alam ko that she is getting enough to eat. Bumibilog na yung mga arms and legs and her elbows have "disappeared" :star: She is starting to remain awake longer (longest was about 2 hours), kaya lang she gets really cranky pag inaantok at di makuha tulog nya.

Yes, the iron (and the protein) in formula can cause constipation. :star:

To Sheila, marybeth and frosty - hope your respective deliveries go quite well, as do your respective babies. :star: Get all the rest that you can for now; you'll need all the strength you have for labor and delivery and for the subsequent care of your little ones.

oops...time out muna...gutom na naman si Maizy...

I ask her for that, sabi nya she want to make it sure kung ang baby is ready na eh induce and kung ga ano kalayo ang head ng baby sa cervix ko..
i am 1cm dilated.. pero wala pa naman ako na feel na pain. yes naga contract na tummy ko but hindi man masakit.. my 1st ULTZ it says EDD is JANUARY 24th, then 2nd ULTZ JANUARY 30th... ang alam ko lang pag 1st baby is delayed ang delivery.. I don't know..

this friday again ULITIN ung test ULTZ specific BIOPHYSICAL PROFILE AND AFI
Then another NST - I am a little bit worried.. i don't know.. d kaya nag mamadali dr ko?? hehee

please need some advice :-)

Hmm...I don't know. I would think that a BPS ultrasound (biophysical screen) would best detemine if your baby is ready to be born or not. A BPS will give a quite accurate gauge of the baby's maturity. Again, at 38 weeks, baby is term and can be delivered anytime...has nothing to do if it's your first baby or not. Honestly, I don't see the rationale for 2 NST's

For the mommies na kasabay ko this month mag anak..

nag call ang dr ko this morning.. and she want me to have a NST.. so we go immediately @ CLINIC to have my NTS
everything is okey, and i am 1cm dilated.. she want me to have a INDUCE labor on JAN 19th, Instead of JAN 25th which
is the orginal date.. it sounds its getting early then.. and this coming friday i need to repeat the NTS and ULTZ to make it sure..
what do u think my case?? is my DR in a HURRY?? or what?

I am kiinda a concern really... any mommies have same situation the same with me??

Did she say why you needed a non-stress test? Jan 19th isn't bad; after all you're nearly 39 weeks already.

Diapers...went through the 84-pc box of Huggies Snugglers in less than a week. Sometimes we go through 7-8 nappy changes in a day. Minsan, kapapalit lang ng wet diaper, poo-poo naman kasunod kaagad so palit ulit. last night i had to change her 4 times...2 poopy ones and 2 wet ones. Is noteworthy that when I breastfeed more, the more poop she makes, and her poop is more wet than solid (less bulk kasi nga breastmilk is more digestible). She's feeding more now and has kinda mastered the 'you-had-better-pay-attention-to-me-or-I'll-scream-myself-purple' scheme  I swear talaga. Yung pagiging Capricorn nya lumalabas...ayy, like her ate  She hates dirty diapers but hates being changed...duh?

Hubby is home and I am relaxed :) Went to my post-natal check today and the doc removed the Steri-strips. Said the part of the incision that had not closed too well was fine, that it should close in the next few days (sana nga). Otherwise the wound has closed and healed well. I told her about my bleeding problem and she said that it was still expected, at least for the next 2 weeks pa. When we got home, however, I found out that I had bled more than a few days ago. Yesterday, there was only a dark-brownish, very minimal discharge. Then this morning, there was blood again. Will see if this continues on to tomorrow...hopefully not :innocent:

Anyone have spotting regularly? My wife had it from early on. After intercourse was bad in first 5 weeks. Then spotted after that to 8 weeks then stopped righjt after seeing gyn at 8 weeks 4 days. But doc said all was ok.... heart rate 153 then, and all looked good.

Much bleeding after intercourse January 6, then spotting every day, very little, after that, to present, today being January 12. We have checkup on the 14th, Thursday, and abstaining from sex now until see doc and get the ok.

I read online that many women spot throughout pregnancy and have normal baby. It still makes me feel concerned though.

Just wondering if anyone else here spots regularly like that and has healthy pregnancy.

Thnaks.

Brian in Tennessee

from a doc's point of view: bleeding/spotting anytime during pregnancy isn't normal. abstain from sex till this issue is addressed. your wife should be well-rested all the time.

Haay...finally...some breathing room for Mommy...I've been able to do nothing but feed/change nappies/soothe/carry Maizy for the past 5 hours. I just made a (very, very) quick supper for myself and Alec and virtually speed-ate it (like 5 mins). She is asleep laying swaddled (Kiddoppopatamus swaddlers are a Godsend!) in her pack-n-play after a diaper change (her sleep was interrupted by a wet nappy). Prior to that, she was breastfed --- with additional 3.5oz of formula. I swear...everyday palakas ng palakas ang appetite nya. If I give her just breastmilk, after 1 hour gising ulit. I've changed at least 7 nappies today. Actually, I am utterly frustrated as I have not been able to do much at all. Hubby is off at work and will be there till 1030pm. Yesterday was terrible...my first meal of the day was (finally) at 1pm. Supper was 8:40pm and I had to hold her in one arm while I finished my meager supper. Maizy fell asleep around 10pm and i thought I'd grab a quick shower. After about 15 mins, eto na si Alec telling me that she could not calm Maizy down. I quickly rinsed and threw a nightgown on without even towelling off. Tamang-tama dumating na si Hubby. I didn't realize that I had not welcomed him home and I had just went straight to the baby (found out she needed a nappy change). Poor hubby :( . I think last night was the time we spoke using the least amount of words in a day. It really is frustrating :crying: . I wish Maizy would be a few weeks (or even months) older, but at the same time, I don't want her to grow up too fast and just be a baby a little longer (she was 2 weeks old last Friday :) )

itong baby ko pag gising kahit anong gawin mo para sya magsmile eh di talaga magsmile tititigan ka lang....pero pag tulog yun pagkinakausap ngumingiti...natatawa nga ako sa hubby ko kasi minsan nagcocontest kaming dalawa para magsmile sya...before nung pregnant ako sabi pa ng hubby ko wag ko raw ibaby talk ang baby namin...pero now numero uno syang nagbibaby talk sa baby namin...tapos one time kinantahan nya pa ng twinkle2 little star baby namin eh nung buntis pa ako sabi ko bili tayo ng baby songs sabi nya hindi kasi para raw barney..,naku..after ng twinkle2 little star na kinanta nya tinanong nya ako ano pang song na pwede nyang kantahin hahahahaha....

Babies develop their social smile at age 3 months or so. So wag mainip. The smiles you see on their faces while sleeping are the result of some nerve stimulation. Is very nice to watch though :) Sabi ng matatanda may nakikipaglaro daw na anghel kay baby :innocent:

RR- musta na ang baby mo? Malapit na rin xa mag one month old. Hay, nku kelan lang tayo nanganak noh? Baby ko tulog xa ngayon. At buti nlang hindi xa iyakin.... peru super likot! Iwan ko ba... sabi ng hubby ko nag mana daw sa kalikotan ko...he...he...he...

Eve- musta na? I'm glad na hindi nag ka infection ang breast mo. Enfamil ba ang gamit mo kay Jacob? May dalawang $5 coupons ako. If you want just pm me.

Pink- musta kna at si Zack?

Doc gracey- Congratulations!

Frosty, Shiela and Marybeth good luck sa inyong lahat. Praying for your safe delivery!

Dianne- try to drink lots of water and eat food with lots of fibers. Also, you can drink prune juice. Never ako nag constipation when I was pregnant. Uminom ako prune juice and it really help.

Hi princeandprincess! Hay naku, I've been reading the posts on here but di nakakapagreply kasi hawak-hawak si Maizy. She's in her bassinet now so I have some time (till the next breastfeeding). My incision is ok, kaya lang medyo nag-open on the leftmost side about 2mm with some drainage. Had Hubby check it kasi di ko makita without a mirror. Wala naman daw nana, which is good. My postpartum check isn't till Tuesday so will see what the Ob says by then. My problem now is that it's been 15 days since I gave birth and I am still passing out some blood. I consulted with my cousin's wife who is an OB (in the Phils) and she says that it's unusual for me to have some bleeding till now  . I thought so, too, and I remember when I had Alec it took just about 10 days for the bleeding to finally disappear. But this time around, may blood pa rin, about 2 tablespoonsful this morning in the bathroom plus I can feel it coming out. Cousin's wife advised me to rest more and increase my iron tabs to twice daily, and to not resume driving yet (which I welcome anyway due to the slippery icy roads). The bad side is that hubby has had to resume his weekend work so that he won 't be home from early morning till late at night. Meantime, I have the baby downstairs in her pack-n-play along with everything she would need for the day para di ako akyat-panaog. I have also decided to put off doing the laundry till when hubby is home.

Maizy is mixed-fed kasi kulang yung gatas ko. She now adds about 3 oz to whatever amount of milk she gets from me. My right produces at least 2.5oz with the pump, yung left, wala pa yatang 1 oz. Don't know why but ganun din nung ke Alec. Maizy cries pag nasa left sya kasi di pa sya nabubusog, wala na sya makuha. Oh...gave her her first tub bath this morning; nalaglag na pusod nya yesterday. Kaya lang, after her bath, I fed her tapos nagpoopoo sya ng madami at kumalat sa lower back nya...e, she had a onesie on so kumalat pa sa buong likod nya. So...another wash...with another round of wailing :crying:

To those who were asking - I was provided with ready-to-feed Similac Advanced with Iron at the hospital as a supplement to feeding Maizy as my milk had not come in yet. But I made sure that the first feeding she got was from me. In addition to that, I was given a diaper bag that contained a sample of Similac Advanced powder. That can has since been consumed. We went to WalMart to buy another can of formula and, my, how expensive formula can be! I looked at Parent's Choice and did a comparison of its contents to that of Similac and Enfamil and it is comparable, down to the DHA and ARA content  . We bought that instead and let Maizy try it. She has no complaints about it and takes it in readily. Parent's Choice is WalMart's brand...is cheaper, too.

I have a schedule with WIC on the 20th. To those who received formula from WIC, what size cans of formula did you get and how many?
