I'm missing my husband's 30th birthday *and I SO wanted to throw him an 'over-the-hill' birthday, complete with party hats :\*, as well as being their for his last chemo dose. Missed out first AND second anniversary too :\

So much has happened this year that, as a wife, by default I should have been there for him, but because of USCIS *back in 2005 losing our petition* and now APEC, I get to miss out on them. Halloween, Thanksgiving, his Birthday, last dose of chemo, Light the Night walk (Fundraiser for Leukemia and Lymphoma)... and all of this is in the next few months, let alone everything that HAS happened...

I dunno, I was so looking forward to his birthday and all that jazz, but then I think about a December Interview and think that the preparation time isn't all too bad either...

LOL, I have the paperwork! I have no criminal records or communicable diseases! He can support me! Why can't you just sign it?! We've been married for 2 years.. dated since 1999! SIIIGGGNNN IIIITTTTT, oh wells :\ hehe

I informed my husband about the possibility of a december/january interview. He was saddened, but looked on the bright side. If it is that late, thats more time for him to prepare and get things more organized.

Plus, for me, if it's not till that time, I get one more aussie christmas, plus I guess I do like the idea of starting off in a new country at the beginning of the year. Yeah yeah, I'm looking for excuses tongue.gif CURSE YOU APEC! We beat the price hike from USCIS, only to be slammed in the face with APEC sad.gif

Yeah, but then in the paperwork about Police Certificates it says:

"For NSW and Queensland residents, your police record will be sent directly to the U.S Consulate in Sydney by the police department, and the Criminal Records Section will notify you that this have been done. If you do not receive this notification within 3 weeks of your application, we strongly recomment that you ascertain the status of your records by checking at the police station where you initially made your request."

Getting tired of these contradictions. The paperwork can't seem to make up it's mind if it wants me to send DS-230 part 2 in either, as the DS-2001 only mentions sending in DS-230 part 1, but the information packet says to send both.

I DO see what you mean about the high school certificate thing biggrin.gif I'm glad the same wording made you happy. Definitely a national police certificate! smile.gif I bet you're excited about the interview!

Kinda tongue.gif My priority atm is the medical @.@ Not a fan of doctors tongue.gif I also don't have an interview date yet, as I was waiting on the consulate to give me notice as to what to do about my police certificate. I think I might wait till Friday, or Monday when I'm at the medical before I send it in... perhaps... @.@ too. much. waiting.

Congrats to Kath for being in your house!

Weird you guys are saying the police certificate looks lame, I thought mine looked pretty cool with all those different security features. Mine was from Sydney. Maybe they've changed it. Make sure your certificate says "name and fingerprints" not just "name". I know the name only one is a lot less impressive than the fingerprint one.

Security... features?

I just got a blue piece of paper saying "Police Certificate issued by Queensland Police Service. This is to certify blahdeblahdeblah'. Says it checked my name and fingerprints, and has my date of birth there too.. all in Lucinda Calligraphy font :\

It at least has an actual signiture though, not a photocopy, and came in a qld government envelope...

okay, now I'm *really* concerned...

Thanks Niphredil!

Yeah that part asking for DS-230 part I sounds wrong but since it only required your signature I would resend it and mention you sent a copy already to the NVC a while back. As for the police cert, I went with my wife when to the Penrith Police station in NSW and she will be getting her Name and Fingerprint check sent home instead of the embassy.

When you send the DS-2001, are you supposed to put all that extra documentation with it? Or are those items you bring with you and personally hand in on your interview date?

From my understanding, the only thing you send back with DS-2001 is DS-230 part 2 unsigned (and part 1 if you haven't done it and they send it to you) and the e-mail correspondence letter if you want e-mail correspondence (with, since mail takes about 4 days to get to me, I will be doing tongue.gif)

Everything else is a 'you must have before you send off DS-2002'. It however doesn't mention the Medical, and from talking to the receptionist, that will take about 1-2 weeks to compile and send to me (yay for living in the bush x.X, can't go and pick it up), so I'm hoping I'm not jumping the gun if I decide to send in my form this week (still waiting to hear from them in regards to the police certificate x.X).

I must admit, I am worried about the police certificate because.... :\ it looks like a grade 8 highschool certificate for being best in class x.X Oohh snazzy blue paper. I was expecting something saying "address - stayed for so long - no convictions. *next line* "address - stayed for so long - no convictions"*, not something I would confuse with one of my highschool certificate :\

Congrats Niphredil! Can you tell me what the Packet 3 letter consists of? I am hoping that my wife gets that letter soon!

Lessee...

Information pack telling whats to happen next and what paperwork you need to acquire (birth certificate, wedding cert etc)
Police Certificate Information (which is wigging me out a bit)
Medical Exam information (lists all the doctors you could go to) as well as the Medical Examination paperwork
DS-230 Part 2 (no part 1 as I had already sent that to USA)
DS-2001 - notification of applicant readiness

and another piece of paper asking if you want correspondance via e-mail.

I received nothing in regards to Affidavit of Support, or as mentioned before the DS-230 Part 1 (even though all this paperwork says to send in DS-230 part 1 x.X how can I when they already have it?)

The police certificate is wigging me out a little because I already had it done in August, and it's mentioning that QLD and NSW police are to send the certificates to the embassy itself, so I flew off an e-mail to ask if it's alright if I just bring it with me to the interview. I wouldn't think it'd be a huge hassle......... (yeah, and last time I assumed, our file had gone missing for 7 months and we didn't know x.X)

The operator services are still 'out of order' atm, I think it's only till the 14th though. So hopefully their e-mail service is at least operating x.X

Thats how I get.

One time, I think it was like my 3rd trip over, I had this weird sensation over me whilst waiting in LAX. It felt like... I was going to a friends house that lived down the street.... except this street was on the other side of the world.

The first time I had no idea what I was doing, and I had flights all over the place. In LAX, I actually got on a bus to get to the next terminal I needed to go to... which was actually right next to it XD, and then later in DFW, I WALKED from one terminal to the next, which most definitly wasn't next to each other.

Your head goes all over the place. If I have an hour before my flight leaves, I *try* and relax, but I'm a bundle of nerves, but then 20 mins before we go, I'm sitting down, drinking a coffee and reading a magazine.... till 5 mins before we leave and it's a mad dash to finish the drink and make sure my boarding pass is in my pocket for the 20th time :P

I also have this weird fascination with Airports *shrugs* I suppose it's the thrill of seeing my hubby again mixed with fun and adventure :)
NiphredilFemaleAustralia2007-08-05 19:38:00
Asia: East and PacificLAND DOWNUNDER
If you're *really* worried, I'd try and find an online picture of the airport and try and find what terminal you'll be in, which hopefully should be easy since you're flying United all the way.. more then likely wont have to change terminals (unlike DFW :protest: )

http://www.flysfo.co.../page/index.jsp

I'm guessing this is the airport you'll be going into. If it is, United appears to land in at G Terminal. United Domestic is at F, right next door to it :)

3 hours, being as you are going all the way on the same airline, shouldn't be much of a problem. ALSO! when leaving Australia, ask the check-in person if they can book you all the way to your destination. If they can give you all of your boarding passes, you wont have to check back in after going through customs/immigration. I regularly do that with Qantas/AA.

I've heard if flying domestic, just explain you got off/onto an international flight, and they may waive the costs, but I think it's to their discretion...

May wanna try with the actual airline site you're using.

Generally it's something like that. There's carryon + a purse/notebook bag too. Domestics are a pain since they're usually only about 1 bag.

Who are you flying with?

CONGRATULATIONS! :) time for me soon enough!

My anxiety has relieved - just a little.

Apparently, there was a snag at NVC with my husband's AoS papers, in regards to joint sponsorship. Basically, they didn't put in 'N/A' where applicable, and just left it blank. *rolls eyes* Nit picky, but I guess anyone could come in afterwards and put in anything if they were devious enough.

So here I am, waiting to find out if they've sent the paperwork back yet or what, so I give him a call, and get his mother instead. She's sending it back tomorrow, but needs to call NVC again just to make sure thats all (because both herself, and her husband sent JS in, but they only sent back his, not hers, and hers has the same mistakes too. *shrugs*)

I blab too much :P

Anyway, so I'm thinking they send it in, 14 days to process, finally gets sent to Sydney. Till I call my husband. Apparently, it's processed!! It just needs this last paper, and then it's off to Sydney!!~ *dancetime*

*phew* And I need my Rubella shot and chicken pox, but thats easy enough *well, cept Chicken pox as it's a 6 week vaccine x.X* and well, even if they aren't required for the medical, I'd still rather have it. No problems with needles here... it's the getting nekkid part I don't like :P

I guess, being so late now into it, I'm worried about stuffing things up x.X They'd be processing it now if my husband hadn't forgotten to send something either :P (We're not sure what though x.X) Supposedly sent on the 19th, but as usual, when NVC says they sent something, and when they actually DO, are 2 separate things...

Hmm, I have a question.

I was going back over my documents again, seeing what I wrote and whatnot. It was then I realised I didn't send an extra piece of paper with my DS-230 that had the rest of my dates in America >< (I know I know, <--stupid)

On the actual form, it only has space for 3, but I've been over 6 times, and I listed them from the latest trip back (2006,2004,2003). None of them were for over 3 months, but I guess I'm worried since I didn't state them, they may think I'm hiding something.

Should I send an e-mail with this extra information? (considering it took them 10 days to write back) or just wait till the Interview? They have my maiden name and the dates of when I entered USA under that name, they possibly could track the other 3 if they wanted to.

In the meantime, I'm trying to track down my boarding passes, but most of them have faded beyond recognition ><

Loke, eewww American Airlines, Airline of The Beast. This will be my last flight with them, unless my husband decides he's actually going to spend money and get my tickets and goes with another airline ;P

I'd prefer SouthWest, especially after the fiasco last year of the December storms and not getting out of Arkansas because of the crappy AA planes (SW are sturdier and could fly during the storms), but they have that whole "lol, your ### is too wide, pay up" thing going on :P My ### aint THAT wide, but sheesh @.@ 17 inches is NOT that generous :P

There's just so much information on this site that keeps crisscrossing between the different visas that I get confused.

I was under the impression, for a IR1/CR1/I-130 visa, you need the Affidavit of Support at the interview. Now, I maybe getting confused between the I-864 and the I-134, however, reading through http://travel.state..../info_1335.html, it makes no mention about *ME* having to provide it at the interview. So is it just something that NVC sends the embassy and I don't need to worry about it?

Being as things take 2-3 weeks to be delivered, whilst it's not James's Shortcuts, any way I can cut the time down is good in my eyes, and I'm just trying to pre-empt any sidetracks. If my husband has to send me any forms, I'd like to know now, since he seems to take 2-3 weeks to get to the post office, let alone get it delivered x.X

I finally got over my shyness about confronting automated voices and called the NVC hotline :P Whee, my DS-230 is on it's way!

I've already d/led it from the site and have filled out a 'Tester' version. Whilst I haven't been to too many places since I was 16, it is nice to think about it beforehand, it's a few days less spent working on it.

Dave will hopefully get his AOS in sometime next week (which should be when the 230 arrives), then he can send an e-mail regarding his condition. Whilst I doubt it'll help with expedition at this stage of the game, it certaintly can't be a bad thing either. You'd have to be pretty hard-hearted to refuse someone a greencard because their husband is sick :\ Silly thing is, he'd probably be done with chemotherapy by the time I get there x.X

Grats on the interview date Rings :D I suppose even with an interview date its hard to just not go out and buy a ticket huh?
