Hi everyone in Visa Journey My fiancé and I are having problems with our paper works. We don’t know what to do anymore or where to ask. I saw this site and maybe one of you had an encounter similar to what we are going through. First off, my fiancée filed the petition on March of 2012 and it was approved on July of the same year. When my fiancé called the NVC to ask about the manila case, they said the papers was sent back to USCIS for review. Calling USCIS, they told us to wait another 180 days, so we waited patiently. This February 2013 my fiancée went to USCIS in Honolulu to talk with someone about the issues with our case. At this point, the 180 days lapsed and we never heard anything from them.
Unfortunately we received bad news and was shocked that our case was terminated. Asking the USCIS agent the reason for the termination, they could only respond with “I DON’T KNOW”. They gave my fiancé an MPU number whatever that is, and told him to wait another 3 weeks to receive results in the mail. My fiancé asked several times, and all he got was an “IDON’T KNOW”. Why is it that we follow all the steps and do everything according to instructions and we get the short end of the stick? Could the reason why NVC terminated the paperwork’s would be because my status of being married in the Philippines had not yet been annulled, though my marriage has been legally divorced through Guam. Currently my ex husband is now married to another women. That’s the only thing we can think about; Waiting has taken a toll on our relationship, and has been a very frustrating journey for both of us. I hope someone has an answer to this dilemma we are having. Anything would help. Thank you very much.


unfortunately YOU NEED TO BE ANNULLED in Philippines even if your legally divorced in Guam. One thing you have to remember, when you have your US embassy interview in Manila, they will ask for your CERTIFICATE OF ANNULLMENT..if you don't have it then you will NOT BE APPROVED since its one of the requirement.

no worry...your already here in US so even ur k1 visa expired it doesn't matter as all as long as you STAY IN USA...u can travel in all different US states but not outside US.Goodluck sa AOS approval mo...stay warm kabayan...

Hi guys,

Me and my girlfriend have had a 3 year relationship. Last year I decisioned to meet her for the first time. This was back in May and we spend a week together. I come back and we decide to get married. We filed in Oct and put together a great I-129F. We got out Noa 1 and of course are waiting for the NOA2. I was wondering is the fact I only once going to hurt me. I make a good living but I do not make the type of money to go back and forth to the Philippines. I would run up a huge credit card bill doing so and I hate those things. Like I said our packet looks great with pcitures of me with her family, and her friends. We traveled to Hong Kong together. We talk on Skype every night. I have shown proof of this. Plus our ages are close to each other (same interests in music and movies). Going into this I was thinking one visit is resonable considering the distance. We would like the end the distances with the K1. LOL

So this is me and my fiancé's situation. I am the immigrant to be from Manila and she is the USC. She just got a job that pays $8.40 an hour which would put us under the 125% of the poverty line. She has had a little credit problem as well. Would we have a decent chance of having the visa granted to us as it is? If not, I have an uncle that would be willing to sponsor me/us and should be enough through poverty line. I would be very thankful for your feedback and opinion on this matter!


if you have an uncle that would sponsor then that would be a possibility, he just need to fill up the forms for affidavit of support....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPost NOA2

Hello all,

I received my NOA2 letter on Feb. 21st. I called NVC to try an obtain an MNL number/Release date from them but wasn't successful in obtaining that information until today. Honestly, I was surprised they had it. They had told me it could take well over a month for them to have that information for me, so to have it this quickly makes me very happy.

They gave me the MNL number and told me that it was sent to the Philippines Embassy on March 8th. Now that I have this info, I was wondering if you vets could provide some clarity on the next steps. Some of the guides I've seen say to basically wait 8 days or so from the date of when it was sent to the Embassy (In this case it'd be March 16th) and try to schedule an interview at UltraVisaDocs (Non Immigrant). If it allows me, my fiancee can pay the BPI fee ($350.00) and get her medical exam taken care of at St. Lukes in Manila.

Is this the correct setup?

Can some one offer me an explaination as to why the process has slowed down to a trickle? Estimates of 5 months are a reasonable wait time, but things are trickling to one a day , with 90 a month being submitted the back log is astronomical!
We are on day 195... and yes probably will hear any day now... but also may have to wait until April!


checking the waiting period now seems ridiculous....way back 2010 when my fiancée (my present husband now) petition me via k1 visa...he applied May 2010 and got already NOA2 approval by July 2010...got here in US by Aug 2010....and now im on removal of condition journey, I guess I need to wait for more than a year till I got the ROC approval...

I didnt wait for the letter from the embassy, if you do have a MNL case number, you can start scheduling your interview. To schedule an interview , they only need your manila case number and information about you and you can also hav your medical now.

One week after we got the manila case number, my husband scheduled me for an interview and I proceed to the medical. Its true, I myself, didnt recived any letter from the US embassy informing that I could sechdule interview, they should I guess change and update their website because not all receieved a call or letter from the US embassy Manila. My window for citizenship is now open anytime now. My question is: Do I really need to renew my Philippine passport that is expiring 2 months from now?  Does my Phil passport needed for Citizenship application?

I applied for citizenship last January 2....my Philippine passport will expire on June 2014....I submitted a copy of my passport when I applied for citizenship to show the stamp when I visited Philippines last year for 2 weeks. I don't think they need your Philippine passport as main requirement for citizenship application. Im planning of renewing my Philippine passport still because I wish to keep my Philippine citizenship by applying dual citizenship after Im done with N-400 =)

Better try calling the NVC for an update of your case...I guess that's the best thing you could do.

I am hoping somebody could help me here..My husband and I are planning to travel this Oct.to Phils. but the problem is my passport validity is until March 14,2014.So am I good to travel this Oct? or do i need to renew my passport before traveling? Also my last name is different from my passport and green card is there any issue for re entry to U.S with different last name on a passport and green card?My husband told me to renew my passport with my new last name so that it will match my green card and id's here in U.S but I did not report the marriage to the embassy after we got married(Dec.2010) bec. no phil.embassy in Kansas.So it confuse me if I should go ahead to renew my passport with my new last name before traveling and report my marriage at the phil.embassy?(but couldn't fine phil.embassy in Kansas) Pls.help.

Im from the Philippines as well...hi there kabayan..anyway with your concern about u travelling to Philippines with ur passport getting expired on March 2014...pwede pa yan....just be back before it expires. With your concern that you haven't reported yet your marriage..okey lng yan, just make sure when u buy a ticket, use the name on your passport then just bring your green card and documents like marriage certificate and/or marriage contract and ur good to go....hope this helps....

If you submit your ROC documents, the NOA1 receipt would act as a ONE YEAR extension of your 2 years green card...in that way you can still go out of country just have your 2 year greencard with you and the NOA1 receipt for removal of condition. :thumbs:

my wife had received her extension letter [ROC] yesterday. I would like to thank all vj members becaused everyone was a big help to me and my wife. This vj website was a big help on my wife's AOS and also on the ROC. Without this website and also without the members on this website, i know that i would had some problems doing the AOS and the ROC. Becaused of the vj members, i did everything correct and i also advoided problems. I know that we had sent in alot of documents and evidence to the VSC and i hope that there won't be RFE sent to us. My wife's next step is going for her fingerprints and we are waiting for the appointment letter. The good about this website is everybody helps each other and that is a good thing. I will keep on coming on this vj website to see if i can help other members on their ROC. Also, if i should get a RFE or other problems, i will come on this website and i am very sure that everyone will help. Once again to all vj members, thank you very much. This is a great website and i have learned alot from being on this site. Thank you everyone and god bless.

Hi I'm newbie here,,, need help too,, I mailed my form I-751 and supporting documents today and its 10 days late,,I am expecting a baby on August o this year,, the reason why I just mailed it today is that I got so sick (nauseated/ vomiting with connection of my pregnancy) and on those times i just feel helpless,,and been busy working,, I didn't notice that my gc will expire on 6/01/13 I haven't paid attention on the expiration I thought I see 6/11/13 not 6/01/13,, till I made a copy of it and didn't research on the Internet that I need to write letter of explanation of why I am late,, is someone out there have the same issue before? As long as your greencard is not expired when u return back to US, there would be no problem. With the biometrics question, usually it takes 3-4 weeks before you will be get the biometrics appointment but it depends on your state. Just wondering are u a k1 visa? if your currently holding a 2 years green card and your applying already for a removal of condition which is the 10 years gc, the receipt of your application would include the extension for another year for your 2 years gc..so you don't need to worry about the expiration of your gc...

hello everyone...my fiance just called the USEM to set me an appointment for the interview....the lady said they already got our paperworks from the NVC but cannot set us an appointment because of some technical problem, they said their system broke and told us to call again in few days.....waaaaaaaaaaa.......

ANYBODY has the same experience??????? Praying here that USEM will go back to normal SOON.


We do experience that last week...saying that we cannot set an appointment, and then my fiance called and he is the one who set an appointment for me for 18$ and got scheduled on Aug 16.

hello..good day...it's almost 2 weeks now after the embassy received our case from NVC..still we are waiting for the packet from the embassy(letter.. :bonk: )...yes, others just presented their letter from NVc with their manila case during their med exam..I'm just alil worried about the interview, coz they said, before you can enter embassy grounds, you need to present the letter from the embassy to the guard and appointment letter(is this true??..or just the email notification of appointment you will present..??..)..as for us, we already have our schedule for the interview but no embassy letter yet(worried if it's needed)..I wonder when it will come..I only have a 2 weeks left prior to my interview date(...how long do you have to wait for that letter?? :help: )...it's difficult for us coz I'm living in the province...just putting everything to God's guidance and grace that everything will go well and we will get an approval :thumbs: ...God bless us all on our journey!!!.. :D :yes:


My interview date would be on Aug 16, 2010 around 7am. According to them, you need to download the packet 3 which can be found on the their company website and I did. I have already passed my medical thanks GOD..now waiting for my interview date......Goodluck for us....

my fiance recieved a letter from the nvc last july 31 but it was dated july 24 they said they will forward our case to the manila embassy althought its just 1 week since we got the letter but i really dont want to wait again i dont know if the manila embassy will notify us if they already had our papers but since we already have the case no.from the nvc im planning also to call them next week and set an appointment im just waiting for package that my fiance sent to me last day,..i really want to have interview done before end of sept.thats why im waiting for the manila embassy even though i heard that info also that theres no longer packet 3 than i guess i will not waste my time waiting for nothing..

yeah, that would be the best thing to do, try to contact and schedule for an interview, in scheduling for an interview, the only thing they would ask would be the Manila case number, the passport number, your full name and address and your bday. If they ask if you received a letter just say YES and you'll be fine. Then they would ask you the specific date you want to be interviewed and check if that would be available...Good luck for you and feel free to asked some further questions.....i passed my medical yesterday and now im waiting for my interview date, that would be on Aug 16.....

Hi there fellow Filipinas for K1 visa...hope this would help you! Please dont wait and wait for the PACKET 3 anymore, I dont know maybe some received, some dont...me I dont received any packet 3, im located here In Manila Philippines specifically in Pasig area, all you need to have is the letter from the NVC showing your manila case number, if you have it, you'll be fine. You can schedule for an interview 2 weeks after and start your medical. Thats what I did and evrything works great. Im now on my second day for my medical. Please be in SLMC ahead of time, I was there for 6:45am and got 194 as my number really sucks I thought Im on the top first person (lol)GOODLUCK ALL AND GOD BLESS!
