If you have a date or appointment and they tell you they will meet you lets say 7pm.. In Filipino time that means you get ready @ 7pm or wake up @ 7pm.. You will get to there when your there.. laughing.gif

PhilippinesDelay in filing petition
QUOTE (martinbr @ Dec 17 2007, 07:12 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This is frustrating. helpsmilie.gif I got married 11/19/07 in the PI. We had a problem with the childs birth certificate having some incorrect information on it. So my new wife took the papers to a lawyer friend who made the necessary changes.

We are now waiting for it to be processed thru the NSO office. Two weeks ago they said the new birth certificate would be ready on the 12'th of December. Now I found out today that they won't be ready for another two weeks. They could give is a temporary, but not a true certified copy. This is going into almost two months that could have been used towards the processing time of the petition. At this rate there is a chance I might not be able to even get her over here for two years with the way things are backed up. I feel so helpless in this situation. Could I use the temporary from the NSO as a copy to get things rolling. Once they are processed, it's going to take another five days to have them sent over by mail. Ughhhhh! mad.gif
martinbr

I can understand how you feel with NSO processing time.. You are not alone.. I too just recently got some typo on our marriage contract corrected. We went to Court Preceedings and just got our court order last month. We submitted it to NSO to get it corrected and they told us it will take 2 weeks..

Last time I was there.. You have to check in your mobile phone and a ID and they will give you #. So No mobile phones inside USEM.

Do they still do this? Or its an absolute Cellphone BAN @ USEM now inside and outside?

PhilippinesOne-Way Ticket for USC?
QUOTE (Stibnite @ Dec 19 2007, 12:11 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Yes, there are cheaper tickets available for me--even at priceline. Priceline had the same date tickets available for $1227. The airlines that I mentioned charging higher prices were ones that allowed you to buy tickets from non-US departure airports.

However, the problem with priceline.com = "Sorry! Currently, all tickets purchased from Priceline.com require a US departure airport."

I cannot buy Arlyn's return ticket through priceline, and the agents we spoke with in the Philippines were charging us upwards $1400+ for a similar return flight because the 1-way was "more expensive" and they couldn't even get the flights to match on the complete return. Although they did find 1-way tickets that didn't match my return on separate days for $650 range--but that would have defeated the purpose for us returning home together.

Unfortunately, Arlyn is still working full-time until I arrive, and she doesn't have time to venture out looking for agents everywhere to shop for a couple hundred $$ savings.

Well, with continental, I was not only able to buy her ticket from my end, I was able to get it to match my return exactly and get neighboring seats the entire way back.

Although I will certainly say, $720 is a great deal. You got a bargain on that. I wish there could have been prices like that this year. I guess international flights have increased greatly in price since USCIS mentioned that there were 2.5 million + petitions filed this year as opposed to last years 1.3 million.

As for me, though, I'll gladly fork out $400 extra for the convenience and service I got from Continental. Heck, it's worth it just to speak to a clear, English speaking customer service rep, haha!

Well someone just posted a thread about Cathay Promotion couple of weeks ago..

Ranging $719 - $800

QUOTE (Roserick @ Dec 17 2007, 10:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Sorry.. I think paying 1600 for a round trip to Philippines is roughly expensive..

Think now for a second . . . I bought it on the 15th of December for the 30th of December. Holiday season--New Years Eve--two weeks away!

I think it's very cheap for 15-day notice seeing that ALL other airlines were charging $2200-4500+ for the exact same flight on such short notice.

If I had been capable of getting it in advance, it would have been under $1000 like it was when I checked before we knew our K1 interview date.

I was the fortunate guy who grabbed the last available flight for the route/price I got. After I made my purchase, I searched the exact same flight, and there were none available for that day except in first class and one with a rediculous 29 hour layover--even it was still $2044 itself. Considering my other options, I think it was a fantastic deal. good.gif

My first trip to the Philippines was $1100, and that included the insurance, tax and all--but I also flew during a non-holiday season and bought my tickets two months in advance.

So is it higher than normal? Yes. Is it reasonable? Given the situation, Yes. Is it worth spending an extra $400 to be with my asawa on her interview date and having matching return trip tickets home with her? Do I even have to answer that?

whistling.gif

Let me also mention I am flying from the east coast and must depart out of Atlanta as well--which forces me to fly to an international airport from Atlanta (adds to the cost of the flight).

I flew from JFK 2yrs ago Dec 23, 2005 and I paid $850 tax included.. Well of course through an agent.. Paid the ticket December 5, 2005.

Well this year last January I paid really less.. $720 tax included.. Went home for my daughter's birthday.. I went there January 5, 2007 and paid for the ticket December 15, 2007.

Yes Open ticket means you have a return ticket but no date, you still need go to the Airline or call em to reserve a flight..

Sometimes its the same price, sometimes its extra.. Its not the much, probably extra $50-$100..

Coming back to America is really the hardest part, cause all the tourist and balikbayans are returning to their work place or 2nd home.. Its really hard to get a flight.

Well to answer your question..

As far as I know YES!! You can buy 1 way ticket to the Philippines..

I think Philippine Immigration will allow it.

I would assume they would say NO since you called and ask them if you can get an early Medical.. See on the phone, Receptionist will follow protocol.

It is different when talking to them in person, they can't turn you away if your already there..

Filipinos are not so hard to talk to.. Just be nice, tell them that you came from a far place and just in need to get the medical over with..

QUOTE (rjp44 @ Dec 18 2007, 05:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Your passport will get stamped both upon arrival and when leaving the Philippines. I've never heard of anyone with this case, and since the daughter has dual citizenship for now, I think it would be wise to contact the Philippine CFO office and find out for sure. There is a link to e-mail them on their web site, although I could find no mention of CFO stamp requirement for children leaving the counrty. http://www.cfo.gov.ph/

My daughter hasn't left the Philippines.. So she doesn't have any stamp on her passport..

Also I don't think this is even a CFO matter..

What my friend was trying to tell me is some type of overstaying fee and the stamp on her passport.. Something called EXIT PERMIT from the Bureau of Immigration in the Philippines..

I think its dumb.. Because how can my daughter overstay if she haven't even left Philippines.. unsure.gif

QUOTE (Stibnite @ Dec 26 2007, 07:10 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
They told her that it was required in case my cellphone was lost, stolen, or turned off. They needed a secured permananet phone to contact the petitioner in the event that something happened to Arlyn in the Philippines. The office number was just fine--as long as they had a working land-line to be able to make contact with me.

Phone get stolen? What kind of reason is that.. YES here in the US your phone can get lost or stolen.. But not your #...

If your phone is lost or stolen they can easily transport your # to another SIM and a new phone..

Also every Cell phone here in the US have Voicemails.. For all I know even prepaid have voicemails..

That's one good thing about having cell phone in the US.. They can steal everything from you but they can't steal your phone #..

So I don't see why they would reason that..
