Please note that income of sponsor should be 125% of poverty line.

Also, I don’t think the embassy and USCIS released a new bulletin/announcement re: new income requirement. Until then, this is just fyi.

p.s. sorry the table looks confusing. i had a hard time inserting the actual table. you can visit the site if you want :-) Source: http://aspe.hhs.gov/...rty/index.shtml

Well if you check the the current 2007 Poverty Guidelines I864P..

All the way in the bottom it does says..

QUOTE
These poverty guidelines remain in effect for use with Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, from April 1, 2007 until new poverty guidelines go into effect in the spring of 2008.

So meaning these are set by the US govt. But will take effect on USCIS on Spring.. That's my understanding..

hmmmnnn.. Wonder what's their guidelines on W2?

For those who are close on income levels, here's a link to the page and note at the top that they expect to post 2008 levels during the 2nd half of Jan.
So by the time many have their interview, the levels will change a little. I don't think it will be a lot based on a COLA adustment I received, but even 2-3% can be enough if you're close.

Go get married in another country. Maybe its too late now since Manila already denied the visa, but I'd investigate the possibility.

A K-3 marriage visa will process at the country where you get married, not in Manila. Flights to Hong Kong are cheap and short from Manila and she doesn't need a visa for short stays. She would only have to go twice, once for the medical and once for the interview.

If you get denied for illegal Drug use from an Interview on any US Consulate..

Your considered Blacklisted Permanent.. Banned from the US!!

Its really weird... You can't come to the US if you have illegal drugs history.. But when you get here it is so easy to get illegal drugs..
RoserickNot TellingPhilippines2008-02-05 12:44:00
Philippineswhat's documents verification for?
Here.. Check this thread for more info..

http://www.visajourn...ts verification

Its a new policy from USEM.. basically they want you to pay this at least 2 weeks before the Interview..

If not.. There will be a delay for the Visa Issuance which can take weeks..

Docs Verification is for your NSO docs... USEM needs to verify them..

QUOTE (USEM)
Applicants whose visa eligibility is dependent upon their marital status (i.e. K-1, K-3, CR-1, IR-1, F-1 and F2-B categories) will normally need to have their documents verified through the National Statistics Office (NSO) before the U.S. Embassy in Manila can issue the visa. Those with a delayed birth or death certificate or only local civil registrar copies of such documents may need to have their documents verified.

In order to avoid unnecessary delay in the visa issuance process, the U.S. Embassy in Manila strongly encourages applicants in the categories mentioned above to pay the document verification fee prior to their immigrant visa interview. Payment can be made through any Metrobank location. The cost of the document verification is P650 per applicant. For specific instructions on how to pay the document verification fee, please click here. If you are unable to pay for the document verification before your immigrant visa interview, you may be asked to pay the fee on the day of your interview. Please note that if you pay on the day of your interview, there will be a delay of one to two weeks in the processing of your application.

QUOTE (Steve_Donna @ Feb 7 2008, 01:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Often foreign purchases will be blocked. The security department at the card companies analyze spending habits. If something is out of the norm, it gets denied. More often it is a foreign purchase that gets blocked. Sometimes they will block a higher dollar purchase if your normal purchases is low. Contact them and tell them that you will be making purchases in a certain country or countries. And always always always notify your card companies when you are traveling abroad. The dates and countries. This will eliminate a lot of hassle. Also, get a toll free number that you can dial when abroad in case you need to contact them.

Now in regards to Cebu Pacific, they are just flat out not accepting the cards for some reason. I called my card companies and they never even seen an attempted authorization.

That is why I love my bank.. They don't be on my business with my transactions..

If they see a foreign charge and unsure about the charges.. They just give me a call and ask me if I am aware about the charges..

Like what Arrta said.. Its your money... You can do whatever you want with it..

HSBC all the way... Their all over the world!!

PhilippinesCredit Cards in the Philippines.
QUOTE (Arrta @ Feb 7 2008, 10:20 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well I'm ticked off.
First I was not able to purchase plane tickets from a Philippine based airline. I tried both Cebu Pac and PAL and was denied by both by all my credit cards.
When I posted online about this multiple people replied that they could not purchase online either and that they sent money to their other half to make the purchase in person, simple enough.

Well, now I am trying to make hotel reservations for my fiancee at a hotel for the interview.
I was just informed that my credit card denied the charges. This is my Visa Check Card which comes from my bank account. I made sure there was enough money to cover the hotel fee in the account.
So I call the bank and get informed that there have been no denied transactions on my card. When I mentioned that the charges were comming from the Philippines they told me, "Oh, well that is different. We denie all charges from the Pacific Rim countries due to the high ammount of fraudulent charges from the area." ?????? WHAT THE EFF???
So I say to the guy, "So you are prohibiting me from spending MY money the way I want to?"
"No sir, we are protecting you from fraudulent charges on your account."
"I am telling you right now, I want this charge to take place. I have provided all the evidence you have requested to prove I am how I say I am, CC#, SS#, DOB, etc. I want to spend my money."
So he goes to talk to management and then comes back and tells me that there is nothing that can be done because the charge is not making it to their systems to be denied so they can not make not to allow the charge.

What it sounds like is the CC companies in the Philippines are aware of the fact that the US card will be denied and never attempt to submit the request.

Is anyone else having trouble with any credit cards? So far I have only attempted to make the hotel reservation with my Visa Check Card. I have not tried my GM Mastercard or my AMEX card, both of which are true credit cards. However, both of these were denied by Cebu Pac and PAL a few weeks back.
If your not having trouble post what type of card it is and who the issueing bank is.
If anyone else is having trouble contact your CC company and find out if they also have a blanket block on all PAC rim countries.

Marc

Hey.. You just said its your money and you can do anything you want with it..

So here it goes.. Its your money.. Withdraw it and send it to her..

Let her buy the plane ticket from there, she might even find a good deal..

whats this documents verification? i read it on the manila us embassy website and it says there, ITS BETTER TO PAY EARLY THAN THE DATE OF INTERVIEW. then how will they verify my local documents (bc, nbi, etc..) if il pay the delbros earlier than my interview then HOW ON EARTH WILL THEY VERIFY MY DOCUMENTS?? obviously the only time the consul will check and see my documents is during the interview. so where and when does the verification happens?

anybody knows? i think its an applicants right to know how the process works before i pay that P650

Do you want to risk a delay of Visa issuance for 650 pesos?

Question is.. Is it worth the delay?

I say what the heck.. I just want to get this over with.. I will pay for it 3 weeks before the Interview..

Heck I don't even know how it works, since my case is still in the US, and hasn't forwarded to the USEM Manila.. How can they verify documents that they don't have..

Some say if you have a case # their will be no problem... But if you really think about it.. HOW? HOW?

I say just pay for it.. We will have receipt anyways..

Hello sis, yesterday i went to SLEC to asked if i can make my advance medical even my schedule is on feb 27, but they said its better i make advance medical 2 wks to a month. i asked the guard if i can pick up my packet 4 since i never recieve yet so they let me go to window G to pick up my packet 4. They asked my passport and my case no, but since i never bring my passport so he asked my ids, so i give me drivers license. i waited and 10 mins they let me sign and give my packet 4. they said imust xerox the apointment letter and give it to them when i start my medical already. I go out infront of saintlukes to take 2x2 photos then going home. IM planning to have my medical on feb 22, tuesday not so early maybe after lunch.

About the CFO i think no need to hurry to go for siminar coz its only takes half a day so not to worry about. and i read lots of info. its better to go to CFO after u get your visa. coz they asked you your passport and visa on it and if u can go early u cant show them what they ask. so better u take CFO if u have visa already.

My interview is on March 5, so im planning to take my CFO if my visa in my hand already...

GOOD LUCK!!!

PhilippinesRoserick IR-1 Interview Experience
Alright.. So my wife had her Interview today Feb 20, 2008 @ 8:30am

We went to the Embassy at around 7:30am.. We got in fast upon the guard seeing that we have a 8:30am Interview..

Upon going to the Ticket booth to get our ticket.. We had a good vibes.. Does people in there greeted us nicely and politely, they even played with my daughter then told us to take a seat...

After 10 mins.. My wife's name was called over the microphone for Fingerprinting.. WoW!! She did it in 1 shot. Then the lady asked us to take a seat again and wait for our number to flash on the screen..

Upon seating for about 5 mins our number flashed on the screen and was suggested to go to window 28 for the Filipino Pre-screener.. The Prescreener was a very friendly man, he greeted us nicely. and asked for the needed documents politely.

Here is what he asked us..

Is he the petitioner = YES

Asked me on when I arrived in the Philippines, asked me if our daughter has her US passport already and asked for a copy of the Consular Report or Passport.. We gave her Copy of Consular Report.

Asked my wife how did I get to the US. Asked my wife what do I do for a living, Asked for proof of bonafide marriage.. We gave our photo album which did fit on the slot, when he went through the pictures he said its enough and just present any other documents on the Interview room with the consul.

He went over my I864.. He sees that my Income is on the Border line.. He asked for my 2007 ITR which I said I didn't have.. (oppsss) then asked if I have a co-sponser (sigh) YES!! and I presented my prepared Co-Sponsor I864.. (Thank God). After that he just told us to go back to our seat and wait for our number to flash on screen again for CO Interview..

15 mins has passed.. Number flashed on the screen, (Anxious and nervous) Upon going inside the CO Interview room. (WoW!! the CO is a lady.. smile.gif) Me and my wife greeted the CO good morning and she also greeted us nicely and played with my daughter a lil bit before going through our paper works...

She didn't even asked my wife anything... She took a look at our photo album and was impress on how organize our pictures were.. CO started questioning me on what do I do for a living, Asked me to explain what I really do, and if my daughter has her US passport already and she just said ("Whoa.. That makes my job a little easier")

After that she just told my wife that she will love NYC and telling her its very cold and time is very fast..

She didn't say anything about APPROVED but she was talking to my wife about that she will get a VISA and their just waiting for NSO to send the result of the Document Verification to the Embassy. I was like I already paid for it 3 weeks ago and she was like that's good and just told me she has no control over the Docs Verification Processing..

FYI: Also she told me.. Not everyone is needed for this.. I guess we were just randomly picked. She even told me that she herself believe our relationship its just that its a policy that's out of her hand..

After that she told us to wait outside and we will be called again for releasing..

After getting out we haven't even gotten a seat and we were called again over the microphone to proceed to Window 37 for releasing.. We went to window 37 and was instructed to pay for Docs Verification and Delivery fee.. I was like I already paid for the Docs Verification fee 3 weeks ago.. The clerk was shocked and told me that's a instruction that a CO would decide and I was like it is on their website to pay for the fee 3 weeks before the Interview..

After that she gave us the pink slip and told us to go to the Delbros booth to pay for the delivery fee..

We went to the Delbros booth and paid the Delivery fee, even Delbros don't know what's going on with Docs Verification..

9:30am we got out the Embassy and had a brunch @ Chowking..

So I'm a bit happy that the Interview is done and a bit dissapointed and confuse about where I stand..

Thank You all and Good Luck to all upcomming Interviews..

Hope you like my experience..

So I was like.. You're already gone by then..

She's still insisting and telling me that she will comeback to SLEC after 2 months..

I was like.. If they didn't re-schedule your Interview appointment, meaning NO PROBLEM!! that shot is not important and will suggest you to take it here in the US instead..

Anyone has this experience with SLEC?

We must have lucked out then. We had a letter attached to the NVC that told us to do that, and we found a Metrobank near the Embassy that knew all about that. As well, while we were in town for the medical, we went to the PCI near Robinson's mall (4 blocks from Clinic next to Cherry Blossom's) and got the 157 form and paid for it. These locations are easy to get to if you are down near the medical clinic in Manila.

So did you pay for the PHP650?

She's always nervous when she's not with me.. I feel if I'm not going to be there for her Interview she would be speechless or faint or sumtin.. Hehehehee..

Everything is ready on her part.. She got her Appointment letter, 2x2 pic, and of course her passport..

Just the matter of packing her stuff for the 2 days journey..
