IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC now requiring photocopies as well? DS-230
QUOTE (amberlynn @ Dec 3 2007, 04:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Did anyone else notice this?

Under Document Requirements it says:
In addition to sending the original documents or certified copies of the documents to the NVC, the applicant and each accompanying family member must submit a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents.

But under Getting the applicant’s documents back, it says:

Note: Only one original or certified copy of each document must be submitted with the visa application. huh.gif

We gotta put an end to this..

That's it.. I'm calling NVC Live Operator!!

I will keep you guys updated after the call..

Hi Roserick,

Good point, you should always look for posts from people who have gone through your same embassy/consulate to see what 'really' happens at the interview. good.gif

That is why I thank all VJer for sharing their experience from start to finish..

I know every case is different, but its always good to have guidelines..

Thank You all.. good.gif

QUOTE (trailmix @ Dec 3 2007, 02:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This is what I see on the Manila site:

Applicants must submit application documents to NVC to be documentarily qualified for the visa interview. Unless all requirements are submitted, the Embassy cannot process a visa application to completion. Be mindful of the expiration dates of the required documents, and bring updated ones to the interview if necessary.

I think maybe they are talking about 2 different things, perhaps Direct Consular Filing vs NVC processing?

- I'm not saying you shouldn't, I'm just thinking that for some people the added expense of getting more originals, when not required, might be a waste of money.

From what I heard from other people's Interview experience..

It really depends on the Consul.. Some might ask you for it, some might not..

Majority of the time, what they really need is proof of bona fide relationship/marriage.. (Pictures, letters, etc..)

But like what rjp44 said.. You don't want to risk your case of getting AR and the consul having you to comeback to submit documents..

Its always good to be prepared...

It's on the US Embassy Manila site under things to do to prepare for your interview. I'm not going to take the chance of being put on AR over not having whatever forms they want after this long journey.

From what I heard.. That's on the Interview Packet too..

Under Guidelines on what to bring on the Interview day.

The other option for us still waiting to receive our DS-230 packet is simply that, let's wait to see what the instructions say and do just that. Making copies is no problems for us here in the States am sure. Gud luck guys!

ROSERICK, LET ME KNOW IF YOU GET YOUR DS-230 TODAY, OK!!! good.gif

Surely.. :-)

Your right DJturbo.. We should still follow what's on the Packets.. If packet info is different from the website..

idea9dv.gif We should call NVC live operator to get this thing straightened out..

Alright, silly and redunant as it seems, I will follow instructions per NVC. I will have an original AND photocopy of each document requested sent to them with the other info..(save for the passport) can't send the original there wink.gif

Do we have to Photocopy and duplicate the DS230 forms as well? Or just the supporting documents?

I don't get it...

From my understanding.. I know we have to submit Original Docs to NVC..

Are they asking us to photo copy all docs as well and sent it as well along with the Original Docs?

On the DS-230 there is no benneficiary or petitioner... There is only a Visa applicant. All questions are related to the visa applicant

I would like to start this thread for those who filed I-130 in October and November. We sent our I-130 on October 1st still didn't get NOA. With all this processing time delays published by USCIS it seems like it is going to take a long long very long time for us to get NOA.

Don't be hopeless.. Check out my timeline..

I sent my I-130 on 5-19-07 to the Vermont Office
Notice of Receipt was on 5-21-07
Notice of Approval was on 6-7-07

I didn't request no Expedite service.. I also I sent my application via Priority Mail only..

Today I just got my IV Fee Bill of $380.. After paying this, I am going to be on my last step which is the DS230..

As for Cover Sheet.. I never really made a coversheet till my wife's DS-230 submission..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresINTERVIEW EXPERIENCE
QUOTE (topharry123 @ Nov 8 2007, 07:20 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well yesterday i had my interview and i have finally been approved! As long as the blood test comes back clear from the medical, which it will i will have my visa in hand ina bout 2 weeks! Here is what happened at the interview for anyone still waiting.

Firstly after waiting in line for an hour, they let us into the building on a first come first serve basis i think. They called my number and took me up to booth 1. Not a room like i expected, just a bloke behind a glass pane like in a bank. He asked to see the documents in order and told me to go and sit down to wait for my interview.

About 15 minutes later i was called up to a separate interview window, again in a line of booths. I was asked how i met my fiance. I answered this and was immediately told i had been approved and to arrange for it to be couriered, as long as my medical (later on in the day) was all ok. It took roughly 5 minutes, and i was never asked for any evidence of our relationship.

A job well done, now i am travelling on my visa on 10th december on a 1 way flight! Finally the hard part is over.

WoW.. You got some good evidence there...

It should be harder and more Questions for K VISAS.. From what I heard IR VISAS get more questions.. Which I don't understand.. For god sake you guys have been married for more than 2 yrs.. I feel they should just be easy on IR VISA interviews.. But oh well every consul is different..

CONGRATULATION!! and Have a safe trip to America!!

PhilippinesQuestions about my visit to the Philippines
Its funny reading this..

I like to thank the Americans here in VJ for giving such a helpful pointers to a fellow American and his 1st visit to the Philippines..

Hey forgiven..

Enjoy the Philippines, Just follow the pointers and you will be alright, Locals understand English, they might not speak it well but they understand it..

my thoughts to you is go to the US Embassy and register yourself as a tourist staying in the Philippines..

Also one more thing... Never negotiate with Taxi Drivers meaning asking for how much to go to a place.. Taxis in the Philippines have meters.. Let the taxi meter work for you.

Good Luck and Have Fun!!

QUOTE (RyaNRiza @ May 5 2008, 02:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I was just curious how many people have been asked for a Baptismal Certificate during their interview.

If you were asked and did not have it, did they fuss about it?

If you were asked for it, how many items did you have showing your birthdate?

-Ryan

If they ask for something and you don't have it, they don't make a big fuzz about it they go to the next alternative..

Not unless its your pictures, or marriage certificate is missing..

PhilippinesFilipinas
For some GENETIC reason.. A foreigner and a filipino/filipina is always a good mix..

Look at the celebrities in the Philippines.. Majority of them are Mix..

Starts from Piolo Pascual, Bea Alonzo, Billy Crawford, Gerald Anderson, Luke Mijares, Kristine Hermosa, Sam Milby etc..

These Philippine Celebrities mentioned are all half foreigner half Filipino..

Heck Even in the US.. Vanessa Minilo, Vanessa Hudgens, APL from Black Eyed Peas, Lou Diamond Phillips, etc..

Its been a 7 weeks since Delbros submitted the request and until now no word from the USEM about my wife's visa..

Its been so hard for me.. I can't leave my family... Its nonesense coming back to the US without them, I have a 2yrs old daughter..

Just found out that I lost my job..

This is so much painful than I imagine...

I hope I get some news this week.. I will be going to the USEM tomorrow.. Its cheaper for me to go there rather than call them and live with the rates of 55 pesos per min..

Good Luck to all.. Please Pray for us..

I am sure it must be an airline policy. I don't know how they can really tell so many people that they don't want their business, but I guess they just want to look out only for themselves, not for the travelers they are stranding.

i have heard from someone that booking for flight to US must be made here in the philippines...what im worried right now,is that my flight was booked by my fiance from US...i just receive the confirmation from the northwest airlines about the confirmation and everything...
my question is, is this okay that my fiance was the one who booked my flight and the booking was made from US?
do i have no problem during my flight?

by the way,my flight will be on may 23....

any suggestion and opinions are highly appreciated....

thanks....

Your gonna be fine...

YES some airlines have policies, but not NWA, I flew NWA before and my ticket was purchased using my mother's credit card and had no problem coming back to the US.

The most important part is NWA knowing your Confirmation #. BTW since your a Filipino Citizen you might pay Travel tax, and be prepare to pay Terminal fee also.. All flyers pay Terminal fee..

Good Luck and be sure come to NAIA 3hrs before your flight....
