National Visa Center (Dept of State)NVC recieved case
Yes it does take about 20 business days. It could be less or more than that. I suggest you call NVC everyday. Before you know it, you will get it. At NVC, you have to always call them to get information on your case whether it be about your DS-3032, AOS and/or IV Packets. Best of luck :)

National Visa Center (Dept of State)communication proof
Hey VJ members! I hope to find all of you doing well. My husband's interview is on April 17th in Mumbai. I would like to know if all the documents including pictures that needs to be brought to the interview should be put into a clear cover sheet? Or what type of things can you bring into the embassy that can carry the documents or perhaps albums? If anyone can help me with this, it will be appreciated. Thank you.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)False Checklist?

I'm guessing the same. Thank you. Also why is NVC closed on Monday?

Never mind. I know why. Being away from home makes it difficult for me to know what's happen in the U.S lol. Thanks anyway.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)False Checklist?

They've probably not yet received or processed your IV packet. Call NVC on Tuesday (they're closed Monday) to check out wether that file has been received.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)False Checklist?

What makes you think this is fake? You should receive a hard (mailed) copy of same in a few days, confirming that it is real - You can call them and confirm that it is real - but by no means should you assume it is a fake. Good luck.

I assumed it's a false checklist because I already sent in my IV packet so there's no reason for them to ask for it again. And I know NVC tends to send out the check list for the second packet once the first one is received just to let us know that we have to send in the next and last package. I'm pretty sure they haven't entered my IV packet into the system because it just reached on the 14th of this month so they still haven't processed it. Also I came across lots of people who were sent a false checklist so I just wanted to double check. However thank you for your input.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)False Checklist?
I received an email from NVC which I've pasted below. I sent in my AOS package which was accepted without an RFE. Then I sent the IV package with all the requested evidence which was received by NVC on 02/14/13. So could this be a fake checklist for the IV packet?

Page 4 says to bring any missing documents at the time of the interview. It says nothing about submitting it to the VFS at all. Perhaps in the past you had to but I don't think you have to now. I think I will have my husband bring it at the time of the interview and give it to the IO. What are you going to do? Submit it to VFS or bring it to the interview?

Thank you so much for sharing. It really helps. The only document I haven't submitted is the Passport Police Clearance. I ws told by NVC that it should be brought to the interview and not sumbitted at NVC. So does my husband have to sumbit the PCC to VFS on the day of interview or a few days before or do you just bring it to the interview and give it to the Immigration Officer when they ask for it? Do you have anything missing that you need to sumbit as well?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-130 August 2012 Filers
Hello everyone! I have an update. Today (09/13/2012), I checked my case status which said the following:

The I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

Before this update, just to remind those who know and don't know me, I sent my I-130 to the Chicago Lockbox which was then sent to Vermont Service Center. From there it was sent to National Benefits Center (NBC). Now my new update is that it was transferred and is now being processed at a USCIS office. Also I am a U.S Citizen who is living abroad with my husband. We will be leaving together once everything is approved. Can anyone be kind enough to tell me what this clearly means? I want to make sure if everything is going smoothly and what others think. And please feel free to share similar experiences as well which will help me to better understand what is going on. Thank you :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhy was my case transfered?
Hi Treva! My case was sent to NBC (National Benefits Center). I believe it is Lee's Summit, MO. Is this a good thing? Will this speed up the process and perhaps give us an interview sooner? Anyone who has an idea, please do respond. Thank you.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhy was my case transfered?
Hello everyone! I would like to know more information regarding my I-130. I am a U.S Citizen and my husband is an Indian Citizen. I am currently living with him in India until we get approved for the visa so we can go back together to the US. I filed and sent the I-130 to the Chicago Lockbox on August 20, 2012. It reached there on August 22, 2012. A few days later, I received the NOA1 letter stating it was sent to the Vermont Service Center. A few days after that, I checked my case status which stated that on August 28, 2012, the case has been transferred to NBC (National Benefits Center) because they now have jurisdiction over the case. They mailed the letter stating that which I received yesterday. Can anyone tell me exactly or in detail what that means? It would greatly appreciated. Thank you!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresG325A form question

Hi, I am filling out the G325A form for my wife. The problem is my wifes mother did not have a last maiden name in Indonesia. I put the word none where it asks for my wifes maiden name. Should have I put N/A or none or leave it blank. I am afraid they might think her last name is none. Thanks for any advise. Jeff n Merry

Hello there! Don't leave it blank. I think the best option would be to put N/A.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-864 Joint Sponsor Question

Hi there! I know this topic has been beat to death, but I'm just trying to make sure I have all the correct information so that the process can go smoothly. I have read the instructions for the forms, but I think I'm just confusing myself even further...even though I'm sure this is a simple thing.

I am filling out the form sponsoring my husband, who is Canadian. I am having my mother file as a joint sponsor since I am currently unemployed. The part I'm confused about is whether I can count my mom as a household member and have her fill out an I-864A form or if she needs to fill out a separate I-864 form. I am currently living temporarily in Canada with my husband, but intend to move back to the house my mother lives in as soon as his visa is approved(where all my current ties are). Does she count as a household member even though I am not currently living there, but lived there before coming to Canada and plan on moving back there after leaving here?

Thanks in advance!

Yes your mom is considered a household member therefore she will fill out the I-864A.

Who says you were never transferred to a local field office?
Did you just decide that yourself?

I'm getting tired of people saying where their petitions were NOT transferred.
The only thing you can be sure of is where you're told you petition IS transferred.
Not where it ISNT transferred.

Every petition doesn't get transferred to a local office. And no I didn't decide it for myself. After I received my NOA2, I checked to see where it was sent from. When I saw that it wasn't from a local office, I was a bit curious so I called USCIS and spoke to a Tier 2. I was told by a Tier 2 that my petition was never tranferred to a local office and was always with NBC. Also I wanted to know for myself so I can help others with questions that they might have regarding tranfers that's all. No need to get all fed up with people saying what they may think is going on with their case. Like I said, every case is different. I don't know about your petition but for others like me my petition stayed at NBC and not a local office. So I thought I'll just clarify my side of the story and share my experience. I'm waiting for my husband's interview as my case is already completed with no issues.

Hello VJ Members!

My experience with USCIS:

USCIS doesn't always give you the correct information. During my USCIS stage, I was told my petition was transferred to a local office but it never was. It went to Vermont Service Center then transferred to NBC. I got my NOA2 (4 months) from NBC itself. I felt that they were never able to help me. It's when you get into the NVC stage where you feel like your petition is getting somewhere and whatever questions you may have is answered more thorougly. At the same time USCIS never gave me a hard time but patience is the key. Others might of had it better but this my story lol. Best of luck to everyone that's still waiting for their NOA2.
