Hello everyone passed my interview with no problem
Interview at at 8:30AM , had to wait 2 hours before they called my name... The officer was ok....she started with asking me if any have my taxes and any joint utility bills... I gave her all the joint proofs I had...she also asked for the children's birth certificate....after that she jumped on application question....and then told me to read a question...which state has most people?? And then she told me to writes CAlifornia has more people....then came history/civic question
1how long do we elect the senator for?
2 what does cabinet do?
3 we elect a senator for how long?
4 what happened at the declaration of independence?
5 ....
6.... Forgot number 5 and 6
Anyway she told me congrats and wait for the oath letter should get it in 3weeks...

Okay, My interview was today! arrived there like 5 minutes before my appointment.
The questions were super easy!.. went right to the point, didn't #### chat with me or anything.
!. What does the president cabinet do?
2. for how many years do we elect senators?
3. How many justices are in the supreme court?
4. Branch of government?
5. what did the declaration of independence do?
6. cant remember...

then read something about Abraham Lincoln and wrote thanksgiving is in November.

she asked for some utility bills and banks accounts letters. I gave her Con Ed, the Car insurance and the bank accounts letters. that was all.

She said: Im Approving you, you will receive the letter in the mail and gave me a letter that says Im Approve.

I have friend that file for citizenship she is not on this site though, but with file just three days apart, got our fingerprints appointment one day apart and she receive her interview letter last week Wednesday.. So hopefully mine is on its way! And we live in the same city..

After the Oath Ceremony

Sweet!! Much appreciated, i was getting a little worried.

Was your oath in BK? If so, are guests alowed to attend, my mom really wants to go.

Yeah Brooklyn, cadman plaza. You can take ur mom, but they are gonna take her to another room to see u on tv. And she won't be seeing much. My husband went with me and that's what happened. He told me they put audio at the end when the judge came. And u gonna be there like 4 hours or so. I seriously wasn't impress with the ceremony.. I was actually sad that my husband couldn't be in there with me.

After the Oath Ceremony

Thanks, lets hope NYC is also the same, I was scheduled almost a month ago.

UMUC - the question was more about wether I will get the cert the same day as the oath or something I can use to get the passport. I have seen other people mention waiting up to 3 weeks for the cert. I would be in big trouble if that were to happen to me since I need to get my passport before Sep. 1st.

I'm from NYC too and I did my oath last week. So yeah u get the certificate the same day.

All,

I am looking to get opinions on the risk level behind the following idea, based on the timelines posted here along with the USCIS online processing times (5.6 Months for NY).

As noted on the Jan '12 table my Priority Date is 1/25/12, FP on 2/16/12, still have not received an Int Letter (which is the reason I need to plan based on deduction and expectations).

I am planning on going to Colombia to get married to my fiance, I will be there from 5/16/12 - 6/3/12, based on the timelines and such mentioned earlier I expect this to not be an issue, I am under the assumption that my Int Letter should be coming within the next two weeks (4/30-5/11) at the earliest. Based on the pattern I have noticed the actual Int will be for at least a month later (6/4-6/22). This would be inline or earlier than the 5.6 month turnaround noted on the USCIS portal for the NY Office.

Again, most of this is based on deduction/assumption, all made from timelines for people posting in Dec '11, Jan '12, and Feb '12. I am turning to the senior members who have had the chance to see many more of these timelines and cases to see if my assumptions are correct (or at least VERY probable). I understand there is always a risk but my main goal is to understand how likely it is that my case will be pushed forward when everything seems to be trending to being delayed (since NY Office is over the 5 month national average).

Ok, so today, 3 months and 9 days after the day I sent my N-400, now I am a US citizen It was a kind of small ceremony, it took about 2 hours. There were 56 new citizens from 22 counties, and I was really surprised to find that only one person from Russian-speaking countries was me
By the way, there was no video with the President's message.
And you know, it is very unusual feeling not to have the greencard in my wallet

Im not sure about that.. All depends on where do you file. Cuz for me it's been 4months + a few days since I file for citizenship and two months and a few days since I did my fingerprints and finally today I got an update that I was schedule for interview and to expect a letter within 14 days.. I'm in NYC FYI. Some other ppl from other States got their thing done in less than four months .

Extended Review after Husband's Naturalization Interview?

To be honest Brother H is very direct. IO has a job to do. If they need to ask for additional information they can. Just paying $680 does not give US Citizentship. If they decline the application or does not provide answer in 120 days then the case will be transferred to a court where applicant will have a chance to present their case. I would say hold your horses and let the process work. You can always make an infopass appointment and find out additional information. I think OP did every thing by hiring an atty and contacting the congressman. Now there is no reason to throw rocks at IO when he/she doing the job. Give it time.

One thing is to be direct and another sarcastic and offensive. Just answer what the person asked without ur stupid nonsense.. And it is not just $680 there is also taxes we pay as lpr that is part of the requirements to become a citizen, and other legal fees that some ppl have.. I think the ppl that comes legally to this country pay their fair share to be a citizen. We come to this site for support! And help.
