thanks again! hehehe sorry for getting everyone confused....i dont know also when the cheque was cashed for my case. my fiance just sent me an email copy of the stamped part of the cheque. i also want to see our hardcopy of noa1 i just hope it would arrive by monday already. did everyone sent a letter of intent to marry from the beneficiary also? coz i did not make one ...only my fiance (petitioner) made his coz we followed the procedure from the instructions on the I-129F and later on i found this VJ and just read what you guys have been doing. if i dont have that letter do you think i would get an RFE?

does anyone here know if i still need to get a police clearance from state of maryland coz i lived there for 19 months. coz i just think the us embassy as their own system on checking police stuff for their own country? any help pls?

but on your signature timeline it says they cashed cheque oct 14? that got me confused again hahaha lol

just checked the stamp by vsc at the back of the cheque above the case number it says 100308 which is oct 3 2008 and as i said earlier the online thing said that they received the petition oct 3 also. i guess i wanna stick with the oct 3rd coz i know i will just feel bad if i put sept 22 and then count days behind and would count longer coz vsc actually counted me in their system oct 3 plus it makes me one of the 1st filers for oct and not the last of sept and it would be easier for me to check with you guys coz the oct file group is not that big yet.

how about you guys?what date was stamped by vsc behind your cheque? and what date does your online petition say that uscis recieved their docs? i was just wondering where we all stand hehehe thanks for the info and good luck to all october filers! cool.gif

I said to Tom they must not want his money!

What confused you? Because I said they didnt want our money in my post from the 17th? We found out a couple hours later it had been cashed on the 14th but didn't show up on Tom's bank statement until the 17th.

The date on my cheque was the 14th. The date on my NOA1 was also the 14th. I wouldn't let it worry you too much. Whatever date ypu put on your timeline, your projected date for approval gives a window of about a month anyway.

I know both my fiance and myself sent the letter of intent. However, no point in worrying about it now until you get an RFE. It really varies from person to person to see who will get an RFE and for what. If they ask just provide it in a timely manner, that's all you can do. Good luck!

so when you guys say that vsc received your docs is it actually the time the courier hands it over to vsc or is it when the documents are inputed in their computer system?...im just confused.
i know my fiance sent I-129F thru dhl sept 19 and since it was an over night shipping and i counted that vsc got it sept 22 which was the next business day after the 19th. When we checked the bank, they cashed the cheque and got the case number wherein i checked uscis online. It said there that they received the petition oct 3 and sent out instructions and just wait for the letter thru mail (which i'm sure is the NOA1). and til now no NOA1 hardcopy.....again my question should i write oct 3 as the date wherein vermont got my I-129F? or sept 22 the day the courier handed it over to vsc?

would NOA1 hardcopy say the date oct 3 just like is says on the online thing of uscis?

i was just curious and wanted to update my timeline so that it can be somehow accurate...thanks blush.gif

THanks for everyone's help. I was pretty sure we didn't need it, but it's nice to be reassured. So many documents for this process and I'm so worried about missing one.

I agree - I would rather spend my 4 or so months waiting between the NOA1 and NOA2 running around gathering papers that I dont get asked for in the end, than spend a few months after my interview gathering papers that they wanted and I did not have. But any papers I can cross of the list as "100% not needed" are the very best ;-)

thanks for the help...thats also what i'm doing collecting all the information and documents needed so that i will be ready when the NOA2 arrives and not waste time gathering all the necessary documents.

My fiance was in the US for two years for school, which is how we met.

Does she need a police certificate from the US?

I think the answer is no, but I can't find any difinitive document from our Embassy that says this, although some other countries embassy web sites say so.

i also need an answer for your question..i lived in Maryland for 19 months as a j1 visa trainee i was also wondering and trying to search on how and should i really get a police clearance certificate or something while im already in my country of residence for my k1 application.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMy fiance has unused and expired K1 visa and in the process of applying B2 visa
QUOTE (risk13rml @ Oct 9 2008, 04:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My fiance's K1 visa expired on April 25, 2008 and was never used. He has to finish his projects so he can't come here yet in the US. However, he wants to visit this December through a tourist visa. He applied for a tourist visa last August 2008 and got denied. The interviewer wasn't clear on the reasons for denial but she asked my fiance to come back after a month and re-apply. The only reason we could think of is that the interviewer believed that the money in his dollar account was just borrowed. My fiance showed her his peso bank account statemnt and explained to her that the money was from his peso account. But she was not convinced. There were no any remarks on the slip that she gave to my fiance. Usually, if an applicant is denied for B2 visa, the interviewer will state the reasons in the slip.

Anyway, when he reapply for the B2 visa, will it be a good idea if I write a letter of invitation and another letter explaining why the fiance visa was never used and we have no intent to get married when he visits? Of course, we plan to get married but we have so many things going on right now, so we have no plans on getting married when he gets here. He has enough evidence of his strong ties to the Philippines by showing his contracts. Although, we might re-apply for K1 visa, maybe few months after his visit here in the US. Hopefully, he'll be done with his projects in the Philippines.

What's the best thing to do? Do we have to have something to clearly state that we don't intent to get married while he's on tourist visa? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

i accidentally found this at the us embassy manila website

http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3204.html

What if the fiancé(e) must delay their arrival in the U.S.?

The K-1 visa is valid for a maximum of six months. If the visa bearer is unable to leave for the United States immediately and the visa expires, a new one may be issued upon written request to the Embassy and the payment of another application and processing fee of U.S. $500.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMy fiance has unused and expired K1 visa and in the process of applying B2 visa
For everyone who applied for the B1/B2 visa that got denied the consul always say to re-apply again..they give this colored slip i think blue if they deny you for a tourist visa and yellow or white if you are given a visa. If you really want to try to reapply for a tourist visa there is a big risk because it really depends on the point of view of the consul reviewing the docs on hand and the status of the person applying for a visa, even the mood of the consul. but you can take your chances by sending a letter that you are inviting the person for a visit and try to make a tentative roundtrip airline booking wherein he can write those details in the forms just make sure the visit would be i guess a month. You guys can also indicate in the letter that you don't have plans of getting married yet and the reason why the k1 got expired without using it. but don't keep your hopes up it is really very hard to get a tourist visa.

A friend of mine (together with her sister and dad) had their interview last oct7 for a tourist visa and she was denied. Her dad who was a surgeon was the only person given a visa 10yrs multiple entry and they told her she can reapply gave her a blue slip.

I have a tourist visa since april 2005-2010 but never used it yet....i personally had a chance to go thru the hassle of the interview stuff it was really complicated based on the other people i saw getting interviewed. Good thing i was well travelled and it was supposed to be my 3rd travel to usa to tour and visit relatives, gone to australia, thailand, china, canada and hk. i wasn't given a hard time. They just asked me to show my old passports to check my previous travel abroad. No other docs was asked to present but they asked me about my employment like how much was my salary. They also asked me who was paying for my trip i told them it was my grandmother.

I also applied for a j1 visa dec 2005 and was given one already delivered by delbros had my passport with visa on hand but after a week the embassy called me up (7 of us in the group we were supposed to have our training in a hotel at washington DC) were all asked to go back at the embassy, they got our passports and marked cancelled without prejudice in our j1 visa. They also told us to reapply with giving us a reason that the program was like cheap labor. What the heck it was a training and we were all aware of that (but wasn't cheap labor for us actually good money compared to salary in manila). the company who sponsored us filed a complaint against the consul and we found out that it was the consul's 1st month working at the embassy in manila and that it was his first job, fresh grad from college i think. The company also got a letter of apology from a high positioned consul asking us to reapply again (which the company needs to pay again the application fee, go thru the process again and call for an interview appointment) too bad the company cancelled the program coz it already caused them a lot of money paying to get us in usa for our 18 month training. To bad also for me coz i already made a lot of winter clothes shopping in manila coz it was on sale, packed my clothes coz i was only waiting for my airline ticket. I Will never forget that horrible and traumatizing experience at the embassy.

Got a j1 visa again Oct 2006-May 2008 sponsored by another company and was given a j1 visa this time but i was at the embassy (6am-4pm) the whole day wherein the people i was in the same company left already with approved visas. I think they were doing a thorough background check on my cancelled j1 visa. Good thing i was able to undergo training met a guy and fell in love, he became my boyfriend since april 2007 and we got engaged just this august 2008. I went back to the philippines june 2008 coz my program ended and he went back to the philippines (by the way he is also filipino) to visit me again and proposed and that is the reason why i'm part of this forums. Just wanted to share my experiences at the US embassy in manila....and i'm here again to go thru a process of getting a visa hopefully it would be easy.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTourist Visa
It actually depends on the person applying for a tourist visa. my brother had his interview just last oct 28 and he was given 10 yr multiple entry but he also has an expired tourist visa since he was young and has been in and out america already i think 4 times. I also had a chance to apply for a tourist visa 2005 and i was given 5 yrs multiple entry. I remember the consul asked me about my job, salary and the years and times i have been to usa as a tourist maybe he was just checking if i was telling the truth. then i had to show my old passports with my old usa visa but he never checked my bank accounts and other documents...just my old passports. i heard some of the interviews while waiting for my turn and there were people not even asked anything but was just advised by the consul that he thinks that the person will not go back to the philippines anymore and then hands this denial slip.

too much pressure on getting all the requirements and as early as now i'm collecting those documents specially that police clearance from USA that i don't know how i could get one coz im back in the philippines already and they need physical appearance to be able to get one.

PhilippinesAre you acclimated?
yup i know winter sucks not only because it is so cold but it is very hard to drive specially if there is ice...i almost had a car accident before. i spent 2 winter and never enjoyed it at all. yes first time to see snow falling was exciting but the next morning when all the snow is on the road even if it was only 3 inches i hated it.

you need to turn on your heater at home so that you will be comfortable and not wearing those heavy thick clothes inside the house.

its the time to cuddle up with your loved ones. hahaha

PhilippinesTourist Visa for RR from Wowowee
I know they try not to bring in all the dancers from manila for their show abroad coz it would be cheaper if they hire somebody from there. Wowowee only gets the popular ones like milagring, mariposa and luningning and for the common backup dancers they just try to hire people to cut cost on spending for hotel, visa, airline tickets. Try watching wowowee live at abs-cbn it is really fun if you love watching the dancers. i brought my fiance and my brothers at wowowee they all enjoyed it im sure because of those sexy dancers hahaha

Philippinesfirst time immigrant questions
if you really want to bring with you bagoong look for the canned one at the grocery the bario fiesta one. i brought some also when i went to the usa it was okay.
california people are lucky coz they have big filipino groceries there unlike other places. i remember the big grocery at eagle rock and las vegas they have almost everything like frozen suman sa lihiya and most specially jollibee, chowking, red ribbon and goldilocks. thats why when i was there me and my fiance bought like almost $100 worth of goodies from goldilocks..really expensive compared to prices in the philippines.

Philippinesfirst time immigrant questions
last april 2008 my mom went to the usa with a tourist visa and she brought with her frozen tinapang bangus..it was vacuumed packed and frozen then wrapped in newspaper. she brought with her almost 5 kilos of smoked fish. it was okay as long as it is not smelly and it is cooked already. im sure tuyo is also okay. i also asked her to bring in canned bagoong and argentina corned beef. meat products are a big NO but if it is processed and canned like corned beef it is okay.

yeah i know how it feels...me too i'm the only girl in my family and the first one getting married i just convinced my parents that they have no choice because i'm old enough and could make decisions for myself and at the same time asking for their blessing i was able to persuade my parents that at least they can visit me whenever they want coz both of them have a 10 year multiple entry visa and they were kinda okay with us getting married soon but then they said that it is very important for them that me and my soon to be hubby do a church wedding also and not just the civil.

just try to spend more time with your family and comfort them specially your mom tell her that you have more chances of getting a better life in america rather than staying in the philippines.

Is it a requirement that the beneficiary is currently employed while waiting for the petition? i just don't feel like working yet and would just want to wait for the approval of my petition but if this would cause a problem for my future embassy interview i would then look for a job even if i don't fell like working...

for those people who got their visa or had their interview already where you asked about your employment in the philippines during your visa interview or was it all about the petitioner's work information?

thanks for the answers...

PhilippinesBalibayan Box
i just found this on a website forum and wanted to share the info to you. i use to get a balikbayan box in a filipino store in baltimore and when i am ready i would call them up and schedule a pick up then i know they bring it to jersey city also. Just dont forget to ask for a new balikbayan box free from the lbc guys when they drop by your house to pick up your box. i usually ask them 2-3 boxes and would fill it up then send to the philippines.

Just stop by one of your local filipino stores and pick up a box or two, or just go to one of the LBC offices. Maybe even call the Jersey City office to see who the agent/pickup guy is for your area.

i use LBC never lost anything yet and i think i sent almost total of 10 boxes already to my house in the philippines coming from baltimore but it takes about 45-65 days before it will arrive the philippine address that you want it delivered at. and you can put anything in it i mean any weight as long as you can close the box properly. just don't put any chocolates or candies that easily melt. i tried putting in some jellybeans and it was okay. i even brought home a hd dvd player but i declared it as used but actually it was brand new they never asked for taxes.

Good luck on finding the best sale stuff to send to the philippines...i know black friday sale is almost near and i love shopping on that day because everything is on sale.

NO need to file an annulment for he is a US Citizen even if the marriage held here in PI. I'd like to state the article in Philippine Family Code but unfortunately I forgot tongue.gif

Tell him, it's definitely fine to file I129f for K1 process...

God bless us all...

Philippinesboth usc previously married in the philippines, divorced
thanks payxibka! i was thinking of the same thing also but was not sure. since he is a us citizen and has his divorce papers already he is free to marry by us law. i was just curious if the usem would still look for annulment documents since the marriage itself took place in the philippines. i know the beneficiary is also free to marry and can prove it by cenomar and as the petitioner a divorce paper.

Hello VJers from the Philippines! i just wanted to help my SO's coworker about his problem on what visa to file and what other things he needs to fix before filing. here is the situation...

Way back years ago this guy a Filipino us citizen married a filipina us citizen. The marriage ceremony was held in the Philippines. The marriage did not last forever and they filed for divorce. In present time the guy fell in love with a new filipina girl whom he met during his previous visits in the Philippines. They have 2 children already and is thinking about going thru the K1 process. Now my question is since he was previously married by law in the Philippines but both of them were US citizens is it okay for them to file K1 visa or should he first file annulment in the philippines?? He already has his divorce documents from his previous marriage. But since the marriage was held in the Philippines is annulment needed for him to be able to file a K1/K2 visa for his fiancee from the philippines. I know the beneficiary would be getting a cenomar for the visa process, is annulment still necessary or could they just go thru the process with just the divorce papers as proof of free to marry for the petitioner?

i hope anybody out there can help me solve this situation and could give me insights to help my friend. thanks!

I could be wrong but as a USC petitioner he is not "bound" by PI's lack of divorce recognition, he will not be required to get a CENOMAR... his divorce decree should be just fine....

This is not the same for a PI benneficiary.... as a CENOMAR will be required....

PhilippinesQuestion about religious ceremony in the Phils.
i am also in the process of my k1 approval actually waiting for my noa2. I know both petitioner and beneficiary should be free to marry to be able to get the k1 visa. my family wanted us first to get a church ceremony in the philippines but i told them this is not possible coz k3 process is longer plus i wanted a big church wedding if ever i am having one and is currently still saving for one. Upon my entry to the USA i will have a civil ceremony there and then file for whatever is needed and on oct. 2010 i will fly back to manila to do my dream church wedding.

i also know somebody who had a civil wedding in the philippines then filed for k3 then had to wait a year to get the visa then before she left for the USA she had a big church wedding here in the philippines.

i wanted the fastest way to be together and everybody told me k1 is the answer.

PhilippinesTroulbe w/credit cards in RP?!
just call up your credit card company and inform them that you will be traveling to the philippines. I am still in the philippines but i currently have a usa issued capital one credit card and just last week i was purchasing a $300 thing in a mall here in the philippines. i had to call up their fraud department to inform them about my situation that my card wont go through and after that call i have not encountered any problem anymore. they just told me to inform them ahead of time if i will be traveling again so that i wont encounter the same problems again.

Philippineswedding bands

if you also find a particular design from the internet you can ask a jeweler here in the philippines to copy the design for you. i remember going in the tiffany and co. store in shangrila mall in mandaluyong i found a very pretty ring and it cost PHP590,000 just for 1 ring...i am not spending that much for a ring but rather splurge it for my church wedding.

i am also excited coz next month i will already ask my jeweler to start making our wedding bands. if ever you are to get your rings here in the PI just make sure somebody is with you who knows how to look at gold and diamonds if ever your getting your bands coz remember there are also a lot of bad people in the PI that sells fake stuffs.

Philippineswedding bands

i also think it is cheaper to get the rings here in the philippines as long as you know how to look at the quality of diamonds. diamonds that you buy in the philippines is imported and labor here is way cheaper. i also ordered my wedding bands from a jewelry store here in the philippines wherein i got a good price from a bridal fair. but if you want branded rings like tiffany & co. it is really nice but you are just paying for the name.
