again welcome...i only realized you are also from the philippines after your introduction....nice to know i'm not alone in here that there are other Filipinos out there seeking for NOA2 who filed october. i hope we do get our noa2 soon and who knows maybe me and your SO might have the same interview day at the us embassy. good luck to us and everyone out there.

Thanks...I think I will take a look too at everyone's introduction here. I'm still new to everything. Well, I guess I sorta introduced myself in one of the earlier posts here and on my profile itself...but I will tell a little about myself and my fiance.

I went to the philippines for some schooling back in 2003. I met my fiance who also attended the same school. Our paths crossed at a mutual friends' party. We introduced ourselves and started dating shortly after. Once I graduated in 2005, I returned to the states. My fiance and I had no ifs or buts about us continuing our relationship because we knew marriage was in our future. I've been back to visit him since I left but definitely not as often as I would like. Our longest being apart was 2yrs. But, we are as crazy and more deeply in love with each other despite the years we've spent apart. luv.gif Thank goodness for phone calls and webcams because we've been able to see each other practically everyday. They certainly have made things easier.

That pretty much is my story in a nutshell. I hope we all soon get some really good news tongue.gif

watching a movie together sounds really sweet...wish i could do that but the time difference i have with my fiance it sounds impossible. i am 13 hours ahead from maryland, usa and i am usually awake til like 3am in the morning in my country and wake up at around 10am just to talk to my fiance. when i wake up and talk to him he is then about to sleep coz he just got home and tired from working the whole day while i don't do anything...im not working so all my time is just put to waste on waiting. i was thinking already of learning spanish to keep me busy. and maybe next month my whole family is thinking of going to bangkok for a tour which sounds exciting =) i love bangkok and would like to eat tonsof sweet fresh fruits.

QUOTE (Laura+Tom @ Jan 20 2009, 06:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It's great that you can video conference every night. I got a suggestion from Anne from Johan&Anne about renting the same movie and watching it together over Skype. I'd love to be able to do that but we only get to Skype once a week as Tom works nights 6 days a weeks and with him being three hours ahead, I'm normally asleep when he's at work. The rest of the time we try and message using a Air Force online chat that he can use from work. Unfortunately we only discovered this chat about a month ago, 11 months too late!

weddings are really exciting! i plan to just have a very simple civil wedding as soon as i get to baltimore hopefully on april 16th would be a good day for a civil wedding because it is our 2nd year anniversary. I am then having a big formal church wedding on oct 23, 2010 in the philippines and already booked the church, venue, caterer and i already have someone to make my pretty wedding gown. star_smile.gif

I'll be spending my christmas here with my family in the philippines and still missing my fiance. I spent the past xmas in usa wherein my last xmas i was working as a chef in a hotel on christmas eve and was so bored at worked. i remember when i got home my fiance was already sleeping hahaha that was my 1st christmas to celebrate with him (he was my boyfriend at that time.)
And i remember spending my 1st new year's eve together and i was so mad because i wasn't able to see the fireworks at downtown baltimore coz we got stuck in traffic for leaving late coz he was playing poker with his friends.

I am not excited for this holiday but is looking forward for the coming january coz i think that i can already receive noa2 anytime soon yes.gif

hahaha im doing the same having my name engraved on his ring and vise versa...is it really corny?! lol
i love weddings and as early as now i'm trying to plan my wedding. Filipino weddings are usually big i already tried listing down my close relatives from my dad and mom side and really close friends total of 150 pax already and since my fiance said to count in 50 pax for him coz most of his relatives will be from usa and not everyone could afford to fly to the philippines. i told my fiance to try to save up money about $20,000 for our wedding...i know it is hard to save up that much but i told him he needs to try.

i'm doing a black and white with silver wedding motif and i want all the flowers to be bright pink. i will also ask all the bridesmaid and guests to wear black and for the guys a barong tagalog (a filipino traditional long sleeves) and i will be the only person wearing a white dress. i told you i was excited already even if my church wedding will be on october 23,2010. i already made reservations for the church and the events area but is not final yet coz i was thinking also of doing it in the renaissance hotel or shangrila hotel in manila.

We will also pay everything half-half...no one offred to help yet, but I PRAY that someone speaks up!! LOLOLOL

as for wedding bands we are both very simple people so we will probably both get simple gold bands. I'm thinking of having his name engarved in mine with the date and vise versa...is that corny?it seems like a great i dea when i think about it, but now that i wrote it down, it looks a little corny....LOL

we also want something small with close family and friends...i'm hoping for 50-60 people

hello pete and everyone!

about wedding rings i know platinum is the best if you have the money why not get both of you platinum rings. i prefer that me and my SO will have matching rings but he wanted his to be simple without diamonds and i prefer the one with diamonds. i already got somebody to customize our wedding bands here in the philippines and it would cost me about $1000 for 2 rings with vs diamonds but white gold only not the platinum ones. The wedding bands that im getting is for our civil wedding and for 2010 i might get a new pair of wedding bands for our big church wedding.

Treat yourself and buy something that you can wear forever!

QUOTE (ThaitoUSA @ Nov 24 2008, 03:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Wedding rings?!?!

I was looking at sites online for some ideas. I believe I speak for my fiancee and myself when I say that we prefer simple. But now I wonder, do we spend a little extra and buy platinum or save on white gold? I would be willing to spend $1,000 on hers and just buy myself a $50 titanium ring. Do I go cheap on myself, or do I treat myself?

Generally I do not wear any jewelry whatsoever, not even a wristwatch. I would be quite willing to wear the wedding ring as a sign of my commitment , however opulence does not attract me.

Is it customary for a man to select both rings or the couple to choose together?

How is this going for the rest of you?

QUOTE (ThaitoUSA @ Nov 19 2008, 07:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
How could it be any time in January? It seems like the average has been at least four months. Looking at several VSC filers who have been receiving petitions over the last month most are between 120 to 135 days. That would be corroborated by the processing time information at the top of this page, which had be showing about 130 days on average; up until this week when it climbed to 140 days.

130 days from October 1 would be mid-February. Since mine was mailed after the 15th of October, I would not expect anything until the end of February or beginning of March. The estimated adjudication date range is mid to the end of March. With some indications of a slowdown (USCIS adjusting it's timeframe backward and several VJ May and June filers who have yet to be adjudicated, which would be 5 to 6 months already), we might not be seeing NOA2 until end of March into April.

I am not certain if anyone else is in a similar situation, but my fiancee shall not be available to come here until after mid-July 2009. So whether we get it in April or May has very little bearing on our plans. We even accept that it could be until after July until we get the visa. Of course we wish to be together as soon as possible, but getting our visa in May won't facilitate that. So I am resigned. Resigned to wait until July or after if necessary.

I really wish I could bottle and sell patience!

I'm not expecting to leave for at least 3-4 months after my visa is granted, mainly due to my job and sorting out lots of stuff. I see some people leave about three days after their visa is given.

I am also starting to get documents for the next packet and started with my fingerprints in the local police station here in the philippines for my state of maryland police clearance. just sent it thru fed ex last week and hopefully i would get my maryland police certificate before january and that they would accept what i sent them and will give me a police certificate. I am really praying that I get my NOA2 before the end of december but it seems like i need a miracle for that!

you are right pete..flying to thailand is just like flying to the philippines....i just wish usa to the philippines is just as close as thailand and philippines where in i can fly from the philippines to thailand for about $50 one way. Thailand is similar to the philippines..i also remember when i was in college i stayed in thailand for 3 weeks to learn hospitality and thai cooking but what i did there was mostly shopping hahaha. but treat yourself sometime....have you been to the H mart at route 40? korean food there is good and cheap.....

i'm also saving money by trying to just stay home and not to go to the malls which is a big sacrifice for me. i am currently not working and just waiting for my petition which makes the days and waiting longer but at the same time i was thinking that i want to spend more time with my parents and that if i work they wont see me often.

soinlove- both me and my soon to be hubby was born in the philippines...pure pilipino nga hahaha pag kinausap mo sha parang hindi taga america kasi tagalog na tagalog kami mag usap!saan ka sa pilipinas? Originally I discussed with my fiancee the notion of flying to Thailand once she has received the visa and coming back to America with her. Although she really would love that, I have decided against it for the same reason. It costs too much during a time when we really need all we can save. With an impending wedding, the costs of her move, and supporting her until she can work, I am not even treating myself to anything more than oatmeal and rice for my daily meals. ok, an occasional apple too.

As Laura+Tom said earlier, it's only going to be for the major notices e.g. RFE or status changes. However some who have been issued K-1 already have commented that even after receiving an NOA2, they never got an email.

ruby_mtl: Although you could check daily and/or weekly for each touch, it is not so informative. It does indicate that someone has 'touched' or, in other words, physically opened or moved your petition, but that hardly indicates adjudication or faster processing.

From looking over timelines, it appears as though many petitions that currently are receiving NOA2 had filed approximately 4 to 5 months ago. Any others who filed before 5 and are just receiving NOA2 almost always had received an RFE (which is shown in timelines).

Perhaps in about 4 months from now, I'll check back at the USCIS website (ok, maybe 3 months biggrin.gif ) however I already know that my case is not likely to be seen until then and the watched pot just doesn't seem to boil for me!

I bet you end up checking nearly every day! I know I do, it's addictive.

Very addicting! I told myself to would check once a month, but I can't help it! I even check it once in the morning, once in the evening sometimes....it's crazy!

by the way its been weeks ago since my fiance got the NOA1 hardcopy...i kept on bugging him asking him if he got the NOA1 and he kept on saying no but then i asked him if he got any letter from uscis then he said he got a receipt. ohhh boy he was looking for a letter with NOA1 as a heading. maybe coz every time i ask him about the NOA1 he is already sleepy coz we talk like 1am his time and 1pm my time. now i can say he got the NOA1 and was dated october 3, 2008. now im happy! laughing.gif

bad news for me..i just called uscis and told them my situation of living in usa for 19 months and they said i need to get a police clearance from state of maryland.

in my case since i will be the one to have an interview here in us embassy in manila in time..is it required that i have a job or that i am employed? coz i don't have any plans on working anymore. i am financially stable but i am not working..is that okay?

Will you be moving back to the Baltimore area with your fiance when you return?

Kaye,

Looking over some posts, I agree with Laura+Tom that the Police certificate is not needed for the time you were residing in the US. I apologize for my incorrect response. I live just north of Baltimore, near Towson.

wow thank you very much!!! i wanted to call uscis and check with them if i do really need one coz somebody told me that us embassy in manila is also tapped with the system and that i don't need it anymore and that i only need the police clearance from manila philippines. my fiance said that he would call but it has been a week already and i hate him for not calling uscis about it. i wanted to call personally to uscis but its too expensive for me to call long distance coz i am so bothered already and wanted to know asap coz it might take months to get one or that maybe i also need to personally get it from usa and thus need to go back to usa which is expensive.

if you have time to ask around i would be very happy! thanks in advance star_smile.gif

where in maryland are you from? i use to live in baltimore...

I believe you will need to have police clearance from Maryland/USA since you had lived here for more than 6 months, however you will not be required to show it until the interview. I actually live in the state of Maryland so if I could provide any help, I would be happy to do so.

Pete

thanks again! hehehe sorry for getting everyone confused....i dont know also when the cheque was cashed for my case. my fiance just sent me an email copy of the stamped part of the cheque. i also want to see our hardcopy of noa1 i just hope it would arrive by monday already. did everyone sent a letter of intent to marry from the beneficiary also? coz i did not make one ...only my fiance (petitioner) made his coz we followed the procedure from the instructions on the I-129F and later on i found this VJ and just read what you guys have been doing. if i dont have that letter do you think i would get an RFE?

does anyone here know if i still need to get a police clearance from state of maryland coz i lived there for 19 months. coz i just think the us embassy as their own system on checking police stuff for their own country? any help pls?

thanks for the help guys star_smile.gif

but on your signature timeline it says they cashed cheque oct 14? that got me confused again hahaha lol

just checked the stamp by vsc at the back of the cheque above the case number it says 100308 which is oct 3 2008 and as i said earlier the online thing said that they received the petition oct 3 also. i guess i wanna stick with the oct 3rd coz i know i will just feel bad if i put sept 22 and then count days behind and would count longer coz vsc actually counted me in their system oct 3 plus it makes me one of the 1st filers for oct and not the last of sept and it would be easier for me to check with you guys coz the oct file group is not that big yet.

how about you guys?what date was stamped by vsc behind your cheque? and what date does your online petition say that uscis recieved their docs? i was just wondering where we all stand hehehe thanks for the info and good luck to all october filers! cool.gif

I said to Tom they must not want his money!

What confused you? Because I said they didnt want our money in my post from the 17th? We found out a couple hours later it had been cashed on the 14th but didn't show up on Tom's bank statement until the 17th.

The date on my cheque was the 14th. The date on my NOA1 was also the 14th. I wouldn't let it worry you too much. Whatever date ypu put on your timeline, your projected date for approval gives a window of about a month anyway.

I know both my fiance and myself sent the letter of intent. However, no point in worrying about it now until you get an RFE. It really varies from person to person to see who will get an RFE and for what. If they ask just provide it in a timely manner, that's all you can do. Good luck!
