K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPetition Approved!!
Congratulations on your NOA2! My 129F didn't take long to reach NVC and to be sent to the NL Embassy, so I wish you luck! You will receive a letter from NVC with your new case number when they sent your petition to the Embassy.

And, what was approved was your 129F, not the K-1 yet ;) The K-1 is approved on the interview @ d'Embassy.

Good luck on your journey!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Questions
Ronin,

I sent them the copies of my passport pages to show my visits to Netherlands. What USCIS needs is a proof of your citizenship or that you are legal to be on the US.

Wow so you've been @ the Van Gogh Museum! I love that Museum too. Funny thing, me and my fiancé met there @ the Museumplein and he'll have his interview on the NL-US Embassy which is @ the Museumplein! Small world, isn't it?

I wish you the best of luck on your journey!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Questions
Hello!

Here is what I did and didn't get an RFE (lucky me)

1. On the letter for the circumstances for meeting, I explained how we met (thru a mutual friend, her name and where she is from) and also a brief summary of our meeting (visited the museum, had dinner @ restaurant, walked around the city, etc.) and when he took me to the airport. I also explained that we kept contact via email, telephone, MSN, letters, etc. and submitted copies for evidence. He also sent me the same kind of letter signed by him.

2. On the letter of intent, there were two letters, each one of us made and signed one. There are examples of the letters here @ VJ.

3. I sent my Birth Certificate and copy of my passport with Point of Entry stamps + copy of his passport with POE stamps. If your BC is not in English, it needs to be translated.

4. For the proof of ongoing relationship you can provide phonebills, emails, pictures, plane tickets, receipts, anything that proves contact between the both of you.

5. The current forms should be on the USCIS site or you can also find them here @ VJ.

Hope this helps a bit and good luck with your journey!!

Hi Samuel,

If you could include proof of an ongoing relationship like emails, letters or phonebills which show you two had contact within two years, that would help.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresList of Documents I'm Filing with I-129F
Hello!

If this is your submission for the K-1 for the first time, I think you may have more evidence than you need. The I-134 is submitted later when it comes on the "Packet 3" from the embassy that is sent to your fiancee. At least that's what happened with our petition, but I am with the Netherlands embassy so it may be different.

Other than that, I think you have more than plenty!! I may recommend for you not making a file that it's too big for the officer, IMHO, a few but solid evidence to prove an ongoing relationship is better so they can review and approve faster.

Good luck!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLawers
Hello,

I would recommend that you read the K-1 guides here @ VJ and that could help you decide if you might need a lawyer or not. If you can obtain all the evidence needed for your petition and your case is pretty straight forward, you can do the application yourself. At least, that's what I did, follow the guides and did not get an RFE

Good luck on your journey!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSending Originals to My Fiancee
Hello Country Boy!

I am afraid that you sent more information than required for the 129F and you may have to submit some of it again. (Maybe not).

With yout 129 F petition, you didn't need to send the I-134 form + "support packet" information until consulate stage, which is when they will ask your fiancee for this evidence because it has to be as current as possible.

Good luck on your process and please, read the guides, it's the easiest to go thru this process...

:guides:

Good luck on your journey!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat happens to all your documents/evidence after the petition or visa is approved?

I used an attorney to file my I-129F petition to USCIS and he sent it to the California Service Center. After my petition was approved, notice was sent to NVC. My NOA2 was sent to my attorney and he forwarded it on to me. Everything the Attorney forwarded to the CSC was also returned to me along with a letter from my attorney to the US consulate in Manila, stating "this is the information used to file for the petition for the I-129F K-1 visa for my fiancee". My fiancee will give this information, along with her forms and information asked by the Embassy, at her interview on February 13th,(day before valentine's day).
I suppose this is one advantage of using an attorney.

No offense intended but it sounds like the attorney was an expensive copy machine.

Hi Country Boy,

You'll be able to get your case number pretty soon when your NOA1 arrives. They'll send it to confirm they got the payment and assigned a case # for you. I got mine fairly quick, even though I was transfered from the Nebraska to d' California Service Center.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow deal with parents who talk guilt?
Alexander, :star:

I am hispanic and I know how hard it can get sometimes because we can be "over protective" with our children and we have real strong family ties. But one thing is protecting our kids and trying to help them and another thing is being unreasonable. Her family is just being unreasonable. I may sound mean, but they are being selfish with your fiancee by not letting her be independent and depending on her so much financialy and emotionally...

I believe that she is the only one who can change the situation and break this cycle. She is allowing them to do what they do because they made her feel guilty.

She needs to disconnect from their dependence, but how? Talking seriously with her parents and by not feeling guilty, because she deserves to have a life on her own, to get married, start her own family and be happy. And there is no reason to feel guilty by wishing that. I think that you two need to have a talk about this and spend some time alone so you can sort things out.

I really wish for you two to solve this and to be together, my best wishes for you (F) (F) .

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTranslation
Hi Elena!

If you are the USC, I don't think that you would need to submit his bank statements for the 129F petition. They are not necessary unless you are trying to provide some supporting evidence of your relationship... You may need bank statements for the I-134 affidavit of support, but they should be your statements, not his.

But if you still need the translator, any person that certifies on writing that is fluent should be OK.

Good luck! My fiancé is from NL too!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresmeeting requirement

..... Is there a rulebook somewhere that tells new members what they can and cannot ask or post? Or if I don't understand seemly contradictory things, a place to go to find out the answer rather than post that I am confused? I don't ask this to be rude, at this point I am just really confused.......

Yes and No. ;)

There's the Guides and FAQ's tabs above. Everybody should begin by reading those.

Reading those will cause you to have questions. You can then use the Links, not the least of which is www.uscis.gov.

Read the pinned threads at the top of the Forums.

Phedre, this is a BIG message board. LOTS of activity. Nearly 30000 members. There are loads of personalities. And there are also loads of people who sign up as members, want a snap answer, breeze in, expect an immediate sound-bite answer without any research, and then ####### off. It's clear to me that is not the case with you, but we have enough of that kind of activity around here that many board members have a low tolerance for it.

Take into account what I said above about there being many personalities on board, plus the other advice given you about people having mood swings because of the stress of this process, and .....well there ya go.

Hotairguy isn't totally wrong. This is a hard process because it IS so personal. You WILL need to get a tough skin. And you WILL need to be realistic that the government IS going to invade your personal life, that they do it in the name of national security, and you will learn they don't give one damn if you like it or not.

As a woman I have likened the process to childbirth. Any woman who has given birth will tell you that by the time you have exposed your bottom to half the hospital during labor pains, you don't give a damn about modesty any longer. You just want the baby to be born.

Same sort of thing here.

Welcome to VJ. It's a good place. Learn, learn, learn and accept. You'll feel better.

 I aggree with Rebecca.
