it says on the I-129F instruction form that, "Translations, any document containing foreign language submitted to the service shall be accompanied by a full english translation... blah blah blah"

does that statement mean we can have someone translate our documents who isnt a professional translator. Can someone who is fluent in English and the document's language do the translation and certify that it is complete and that he is competent to translate it. Thanks for your help

Thanks all that answered my last question. We had the interview set up for tomorrow (the 28th) and last tuesday she ended our relationship. My question is... Can I file a new application for a different woman right away? or is there a waiting period? I started to write to a woman in the phillipines instead of the Ukraine, and I will probably go over there in the begining of april to meet her if it works out. Please let me know if there is some amount of time that must pass by, so that I can let her know if we feel that our relationship is headding that way. thanks again for the help last time!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLetters and e-mails from USCIS
QUOTE (CBR @ Feb 1 2008, 12:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I'm confused. I'd guess that when you send back the RFE info they'll continue processing your case and give you a decision. Maybe the 60 days statements were just their way of putting you and your congressman off for a bit, then they looked at your file and decided what they wanted from you and sent an RFE and the 60 days is not an issue anymore.

My question to you is this...did you have to ask your congressman again, or did the USCIS tell THEM that they were sending you an RFE since you had the congressional inquiry going already. And in your signature it says "service inquiry". Is that from YOU asking USCIS for an inquiry or are you referring to a congressional inquiry?

My congressman sent a congressional inquiry on my behalf so that's why I'm wondering.

The service inquiries,I had them done myself because my case was outside the normal processing time. After the first one,no response, after the second,no response. Finally,I called my congressman's office. After doing this, they sent me a RFE.My congressman's office let told me about the 60 days, and they sent me a e-mail about it as well. The reason why I am confused is that a week prior to calling my congressman, they sent me a letter stating they would be taking another 60 days.My congressman's office just said that if I don't receive a decision in a month,to call their office, not the USCIS.

I certainly do feel for you on this.Make sure you only send them the RFE once you have the letter in your hand first. Also be sure to send it registered/return receipt. Some primary evidence is passport stamps, plane ticket stubs,e-mails,copies of phone bills.Good luck and hang in there,I know how it feels.

Everyone getting a K visa receives an A-number (alien number - used to number all you aliens), and all visas have expirations. Because the processing times have gone way up, if your NOA-2 gets close to expiring, the consulate will automatically extend it, so no worries.

Blah Blah Blah, Alameda#, casa #, Ipis, Guadalupe, San Jose, Costa Rica

Now I can figure out what to do with the San Jose and the Costa Rica part. I assume I just put the "Blah Blah Blah, Alameda#, casa #, Ipis, Guadalupe" as the address? Do I put the casa # as the apartment number?

When I mail her packages via UPS, i just put the "Blah Blah Blah, Alameda#, casa #, Ipis, Guadalupe" as the whole address and since it doesn't all fit, I put the "Ipis, Guadalupe" on the second line of the address. Somehow, magically, all my packages get to her, but this is a bit more important than what I mail her and I want to make sure I get it right. I'm going to have space problems fitting "Blah Blah Blah, Alameda#, casa #, Ipis, Guadalupe" on the I-129F form and probably any other forms we need to fill out when typing into the forms.

I'm so confused on this. Hopefully someone here has dealt with an address similar to this and can help me. smile.gif

Thanks in advance,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTouched on a Sunday?
QUOTE (adair @ Mar 24 2008, 07:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi gang,

As many of us do, I satisfy both my curiosity and obsession by checking my case status online each day via the USCIS website. Considering that a "touch" == a government employee looking at your case file and thus updating the date you see when you examine your petition details, has anyone else experienced a "touch" on a Sunday? When I looked this morning, the "last updated" date was 3/23/08. That was/is yesterday. That was/is a Sunday. And that was/is Easter Sunday. As a former civil servant myself (albeit in a much different agency) this seems a bit odd to me...

Now mistake me not, I am thankful, I will take a "touch" anytime I can get it, regardless of the day so long as it helps to shorten my time in the proverbial visa waiting room, but still my curiosity was/is piqued. Perhaps a typo and someone actually updated it today? Anyone?

Thanks,

Jerry

Better put this on hold for awhile or back out now. You seem to have some serious misgivings about this and probably for good reason, sometimes the heart gets in the way of the head. You might strongly consider flying down to see her by surprise on an unannounced visit just to see what is going on there for yourself and to see her face to face to get it worked out or your answers to your questions before you marry or bring someone to the USA that will make you more miserable later on. Investigate thoroughly. Good luck.

If my SO had chosen to fly in on an unannounced visit I would have seriously revisited our "relationship". Not only did I have a life separate from his own prior to our marriage, I would have questioned the integrity of a person who could not trust that I have values and morals which I uphold whether he is with me or not. A man who is that insecure about a relationship is not a man I would be interested in marrying.

You are right, he better rethink his commitment to this relationship and start investigating now and thoroughly. Something is a miss as you say. blink.gif

It sounds like she's found herself another man.Make sure you have proof of this before you cancel the visa petition.I know cholos/cholas like I know the back of my hand and it looks like she's trying to play you.Nip it in the bud before you get hurt, please.

Oh, come on. Just because they're experiencing the symptoms of a long distance relationship, doesn't mean it automatically translates into "She's found herself another man."

Well, something fishy is going on and the man did ask for an honest opinion. That's just my opinion. And it totally okay if you disagree with me.

I had one reading what you just posted also. laughing.gif

Completely and utterly ridiculous. Why would you even say this?
Sigh. So tired of people stereotyping!!! RUDE!!!! mad.gif

Um,okay,I'm stereotyping my own culture.I don't like seeing anybody get used.My best friend was in denial for 6 years before he woke up and admitted he had gotten played. The situation was very similar to this one.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCultural misunderstanding or fraud?
QUOTE (sipues @ Jan 21 2008, 10:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This is kinda long:
So, I am trying to distinguish what is cultural misunderstanding and what is not. My SO is from Lima, but originally from one of the mid Andes-Jungle provinces - i.e, not quite from la sierra and not quite from la selva. She moved to Lima right after high school to work, because her family needed her to.

We have a basic connection that I can't explain, and that I have never had with anybody else. I am sure that's why all of us here are with our SO's, right? Any way, I lived in Peru for just over a year, and learned Spanish and the culture for the first time. We started dating a few months before I had to leave. She is very much like alot of the young women you will meet when you go to the tourist Peruvian handcraft markets that are peppered all over Lima, and to whom alot of Peruvians refer to as "Cholas". Please, let's keep this to the Peruvian understanding of "Chola".

The problem? I know, I know: The communication, almost entirely via phone, for hours almost every day, is wonderful, untill recently. But I am almost always left with contradicting statements to ponder about, or to wonder why she has answers to everything. And then, the dreaded Peruvian habit of not being forthcoming with information. A questions is only answered exactly to its required answer, no more, and no less; so there's no expounding (spelling?) beyond the minimum, which was one of my frustrations while living there. Here you are taught that every statement is a mini-thesis, with introduction, body and conclusion (there abouts), and so when you talk, you kind of talk in a similar manner; it is not what I have experienced in Peru. I guess we Americans always reveal so much info in our conversations, eh? So, lately I have been pointing out the contradictions, and she obviously denies them. So, the communication has gone down. I will call, and we will be on the phone a few minutes before she comes up with an excuse why she has to go. It has seemed pretty evasive.

Now, with Peru being known for high visa fraud, of course this is setting off all sorts of alarms in my head about the "validity" of the relationship, and whether this woman is playing me for a visa. Yes, I know, if that's the case, it won't be the first or last. But I would rather try to understand this further than just cutoff the process because I may have suspected wrongly. The K1 was already filed, so if worse comes to worst, I would be looking at canceling it.

Has any body else had similar experiences with their SO's? How have you handled it?

What are the Ports of Enterance in the US? I feel stupid asking this blush.gif but I've been looking over the guides and other questions asked and haven't foud an answer. Is JFK the only POE? Is there a POE in Colorado? If this is in one of the guides and I missed it, I'm so sorry. I was just curious about it since I've seen so many questions about POEs recently.

I think LAX is one also. How are you doing ?

so I guess I'm in the opposite side of most of you, my K1 was approved, but now we broke it off and it's over. He's not coming so I just want to cancel and forget about the waste of time that I've been through.

Is anyone out there aware of the process to do this?

Sorry to hear that. sad.gif You have to write a letter to the USCIS and the counsalate stating that you wish to withdraw the petition.
