K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsJanuary filers VSC lottery, who gets the jackpot next?
I have removed from the list those that have not been seen on VJ since January and February with the hope that somehow, those people have gotten their NOA2 already.

To those who are still waiting... I've sent a prayer and well wishes for all of you that somehow this will be a better week and that this week will not end without an approval or two.

May God give all of you the gift of hope and the strength to endure.

"When things are bad, we take comfort in the thought that they could always be worse. And when they are, we find hope in the thought that things are so bad they have to get better."

"Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are anger and courage; anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain the way they are."

BIG CONGRATS & JUMP of JOY for LILIANE & JACK (braziliusa2008) who received NOA2 on April 10, 2008.

the approval is crawling but one approval is always a sign of HOPE that they have not totally forgotten the remaining January filers.

Well, it's been a month today since we got our RFE... and still nothing.

I feel like its all my fault we didn't receive our approval that day.
They tell you on the RFE that they will definitely (yeah right) make a decision within 60 days. At least 30 are already gone.

But now the earliest he would get here is the end of July. Who is going to watch my kids now for the entire month of July? I checked again, and all the childcare spots are filled in my area. May have to quit the new job (!!!). And be jobless.

Why do WE have to be the ones getting the raw deal from VSC?

First off, a big hug for you

Its absolutely very frustarting to be waiting this long when others within your timeframe and even after you have been approved and already waiting for interview. sad.gif

We could count things that will make this process even more depressing and there are many... but on the brighter side, you received RFE in less than two months unlike others who got their RFE after over 6months and as you said, at least the 30days from RFE is already gone... It won't be too long for the NOA2 now and he will be there soon good.gif

I can understand your frustrations but pls try not to think that you would have to quit and be jobless yet. Even if he gets there by the end of July, at least you know he will get there in a few months time... I am sure you will find a solution to who will watch over the kids... you always have found a solution when time is pressed and pressure is high right? You're actually stronger & wiser than you give yourself credit for.... Just have faith in yourself and have faith in a higher being.

Pls stay strong and have faith.... It is not yet over till you say it is over. rose.gif

Dawn... big hugs! One of the most important things i've learned in my years is that worrying wont get the bills paid! wink.gif I know it's stressful to think about all that is to come but you have to believe it will all work out! This is a wonderful time for you both. I really hope you enjoy it! smile.gif -101% agree kim good.gif .. 8years of being a single mom had really thought me that what you said is absolutely true... when I am in a tight place, when bills pill up and the kids are sick, i panic but then stop and sing "God will make a way" by Don Moen. The words of the song just calms my nerves and it allows me to focus more on the things i can do to make things a little better and just lift all the things that are way beyond my control into God's mighty hand. He has never let me down so far... I am always sure, He will take care of all of us wherever and whatever.

Gaye... LOVE yoga! Does the soul good, doesn't it? It's great your father is ok with your immigration. -Yeah, maybe he feels that I'd be safe in Ricky's hands... my mother's initial worries was probably just becoz she'd be missing us and just don't want to admit it but she's ok now. She just worries it will be too cold for me and the kids. She still thinks, North Carolina is very near the North Pole laughing.gif

So many of you are almost through this part of the process! That's great! I'm very happy for you all. smile.gif

It's difficult to think of a reason why some from even early January are still waiting while others are approved in less than a month. That's just not right! I hope you folks get your approvals SOON!-- yeah, and there are some from December and earlier still waiting also. My heart really breaks everytime I open Igor's list and there is no new January filer or earlier filer approved. sad.gif

Less than a week for us now!--YAY! You'll finally be on the waiting room! I'm wishing you all the luck and fast and hassle free approval.

Howdy, everybody!!! Just wishing everyone a great Tuesday!!!

The enormity of everything has hit me today...Darren will be here soon (God willing), and I am stressing about $...for the AoS, the wedding, and trying to find him reliable transportation (in Orlando, that's a necessity). Usually I would just sign up to teach summer school, but our state education budget has been slashed this year, and, unfortunately, one of the first things to go is summer school...I would try to find other work for the summer, but it's hard to find anywhere that will work around my teacher training schedule for the summer.

I don't really have any viable solutions, just wanted to vent...I'm trying to keep my anxiety to a minimum around Darren since he is already so nervous about the interview, and I don't want him to worry about anything else.

Thanks for listening to me....

I guess we are all feeling the stress in a different way and for different reasons... maybe you and ricky and all the other USC could relate with the kinds of stress you guys are dealing with the impending arrival of your foreign SO's.

As for me and Darren and all the foreign SO's.... MAN! Insomnia anyone? Our medical (mine and my kids') will be May 13 and interview would be May 21.. when we called April 1 we were offered April 9 interview and I just freaked out... it can't be that fast... I'm totally not ready. So we opted for a date in middle to last week of may... I'm still working on most requirements and gathering documents here. And I'll be packing and the things i need to dispose. And to fix and put everything in order here first before I could leave. I'm just glad I was able to tell my father about my impending immigration and he was ok with it, not a negative word. star_smile.gif

One of my worries of who will stay in our house and manage our little boarding house have been ironed out but there's also one of my sisters who wants to go to Dubai for work and I still need to assist her before I could go. It's hard to be the eldest, your siblings just expect you to know everything and help them out with everything. i don't really mind under normal circumstances but it is adding to my stressors right now.

Maybe I need to go to the yoga center and do some meditations. OHM SHANTI! rose.gif

Gaye,

I just noticed your wedding date smile.gif 8/8/08! If that would have fallen on a Saturday we might have done that too. That's pretty cool.

I guess that's pretty hard for the husband to forget smile.gif

We met on the first week of august but we can't remember the exact date since we were not that serious yet so we picked 8-08-08 last year... then we thought of having it on october 3, that's the day we first saw each other's face online and first heard each other's voice but then, we need to get married before the kids starts school also so we decided to go back to original date and trim off the wedding budget again.

My younger sister had her graduation today and by our talks the past weeks it seems she and her husband have decided to stay in our house even after I leave so at least one of my worries have been resolve already (they wanted to moved out of the house when i leave and I was worried this house would just deteriorate if nobody would stay here on permanent basis, my mom's business is based in another town so she rarely comes home here, my father has another house so he don't stay here). Was able to tell my father also about going to the US this year and for the first time, I didn't hear any negative comment from him, he just wanted me to look up some of his relatives in the U.S. if I could. good.gif This is a very good day albeit a tiring one. (its 12:12AM already here).

I just hope this week will be a better week for everybody still waiting. My thoughts are always with you guys. VSC & CSC MOVE!!!

kitEEgirl good luck for the medical exam and also for the coming interview! rose.gif

Wow... I am so glad it is minor. How long will it take to heal?
Too bad you couldn't spend more time with your sister though... Next time tell you boy that when you're away, he's not allowed to climb on trees tongue.gif

doctor said he will remove the cast in 3weeks so I hope it will be completely mended by then or before we go to the states...

I told my son he is not tarzan... and he is not superman either so he should always be careful in climbing and jumping from trees or big trucks... my father did not help when he narrated how i got my collar bone completely broken when i was little (too much climbing trees) wacko.gif

as a mother, I am sometimes torn between being so protective and allowing my kids to enjoy their childhood to the fullest... climbing trees is one of those things that gives more joy to being a child... when i was a kid, no matter how many times i have fallen from the tree, i would still go up and climb again and again... so, i guess, no matter how much i want to prevent my own kids from climbing and falling, i will just have to take what happened as accident... i won't stop him from climbing another tree as long as it won't be a very very tall one.

I do want to protect my kids from getting hurt in anyway but of course they will never learn if I shelter them too much. GOSH, every mother out there could relate to how hard it is to strike the right balance between healthy protectiveness, being overly protective (which stunts kids emotional growth), and not being protective enough (which could endanger the kids life).

Such is the angst and joy of MOTHERHOOD.

Hope everyone is doing well today!!!

My trip to visit my two sisters were shortened.. after 11hours of travel--BY BUS-- i received a text message from my kids school directress saying my son fell from a guava tree before the class started and they need to bring him to ER coz he might have broken bones.. and true enough he had fractured his lower arm and the ortho had to put a cast on his arms.

I received the message just as soon as my mother and I got off the bus so I just saw my sisters and then said goodbye right away then, head back to our place-- which meant i had anothe 11 hours of sitting in a bus.. it felt like I travelled 24hours straight, my butt ached from sitting. But all's well, my son was discharged from hospital yesterday and the doctor said he will remove the cast in 3weeks time.

Well, it was another huge expense (with more than half of the bill taken by the orthopedic doctor) but I am still thanking God coz at least it was only minor fracture and it was on the arm, not on the head. It could have been a lot worst.

You stay safe also nicole.. Philippines is not the only country being afflicted with typhoons and floods now.. i have been reading about floods in some part of the US also and I wish everyone to be safe always.

Will be going out of town for 3days.. will be visiting my younger sister who is expecting a baby and will also be sending off another sister who is going abroad for work... there is actually 4 family members who are leaving home this year.. first my sister then in a few months time, I and the kids will be leaving also. So it is a little sad but life goes on. we are all just trying to make the most of the remaining days that we have together becoz who knows how many years it will be till we all get together again as a family. sad.gif

I am getting a little sentimental already.. tongue.gif ...

Well, I wish everyone a happy week and loads of approval for those who are still waiting especially for Mounia, Sunnybear, Shes and of course Kim. and visa for those who are waiting for visa, interview & medical approval for those who will be going for interview & medical and also interview dates soonest for those who are waiting for that.

God bless everyone.

Thank you very much for the concern Dawn and Sally & Kim... I am deeply touched rose.gif ... thankfully, typhoons do not visit my hometown so we are safe here... but unfortunately, the other parts of the country is not that lucky, and my father's relatives lives in areas which are experiencing storms right now... as of now, we still don't have news about them sad.gif

It is Sunday evening here... In our church, we offered a special prayer for the people who were being affected by typhoon, esp the ship that recently sunk here and all other calamities & crisis that our country and even the rest of the world is facing now... we also offered a special prayer for the political fate of the USA.

On a lighter note, our prayer group (our church is divided into several zonal group that meet once a week to pray jointly) surprised a member couple who are celebrating their 25th year together as husband as wife. Each family in our group brought some food over and we had dinner together. It was fun and touching and inspiring...the wife shared about the struggles they went through and how thankful she is that they have overcome all the marital storms still intact... the husband said that if time will turn back, he will still chose to marry his wife and no one else. blush.gif

I wish and pray that all of us will reach our 25th, 50th & even 75th wedding anniversaries with our current partners...and I hope that we would still be madly in love with our partners (and them with us) by that time.

Aleena: thank you for the congrats... soon you will be with your love one also. Good luck to you. good.gif

Thank you again for the thoughts and concerns dawn, sally & kim. rose.gif rose.gif rose.gif

I've been reading around trying to keep myself busy and I've run into threads regarding the TB skin test being requested for AOS... soo I guess I'd rather avoid the RFE and get it taken care of. I'm still trying to decide if we'll go the extra mile and have the K1 medical results transcribed by a civil surgeon to that I-693 or whatever it is..
Sorry for posting these random questions in this particular thread - I figured we'd all be running into the same issues at some point anyway.

my kids have had the skin test already and they were positive on the skin test due to BCG vaccination(bacille Calmette-Guérin, is a vaccine for tuberculosis (TB) when they were babies. I am now wondering if I should get it for myself here, if that will be a requirement for AOS. unsure.gif

Sally, sending you BIG HUGS. I got busy last week organizing my sister's debut (18th birthday party) but I kept checking this thread to check if you have posted any update.. I was thinking that you would get the result right after the ct scan. Gosh, the added several days of waiting for somethng you don't know! Not knowing what will be the outcome must be stressful... but it will be ok... everything will be ok with you Sal. rose.gif

Sam: US embassy here in the Philippines requires TB skin test for kids not for adults.

I have read somewhere that when you are on K1/K2 you wont need to undergo another medical for AOS but I don't know about TB skin test.

Here in the Philippines we don't only have different accent, we have different dialect for every region... as of last count, there is more than 170 different dialects & languages spoken here. Our only unifying language is Filipino and English.

So the SSA gave us the number to USCIS - who can't help at this stage, once they approve the petition they no longer have case status updated (which I knew, but took the sheet the woman gave us for USCIS). I figured we would need to contact the local USCIS office (not the 800 number they gave us). Anyhow, got a helpful woman at the 800 number for USCIS and she indicated we would need to goto the local office (thank goodness the Raleigh/Durham office just opened last month, otherwise would have to drive to Charlotte!). Anyhow, we went onto the Infopass site, to set-up an appointment, not the most user friendly site to set up an appointment, but we found a way through. And we figured it would be a week or more for an appointment ... but to our amazement, we were able to make an appointment for 8:45AM tomorrow morning ... yay!!! So we are going to "kick some butt" tomorrow to find out why he isn't in the system yet. The woman at the 800 number said he should have been entered by the next business day after he entered the US! Hahahaha ... didn't happen!!!!

Gaye, I'll let you know how things go, at least our experiences might help you and Ricky move along faster! smile.gif

On a side note for us ... we went to the Social Security Administration today (11 business days, 16 days) since Stephen arrived. We got there before they opened, we got ticket #207 (#8 in line). So we waited 20 minutes outside the building, then got the number, then waited another 15-20 minutes, got up to the window, hand over the application, and his passport with visa & I-94 in it. We sit there quietly for a few minutes and she then looks up and says, sorry, he's not in the system, we'll have to file paperwork with DHS/INS to find his file. "How long will that take?" --- 4-6 weeks .... Umm, NOT! North Carolina requires a SSN# to get married (he can sign a waiver as a last resort)... but he prefers to have the SSN#, because without it, the license will take longer. So instead, we took the SSN# application back, and she gave us a phone number to INS, to find out where his file is, and perhaps we can go back in a week to apply.

Every state is different ... even all the SSA offices are different .... let the waiting continue ohmy.gif unsure.gif

OH GOLLY! I hope you get SSN# for Stephen soon. I will be arriving @ NC Sept. 4 and we plan to get married Oct. 3.. i do hope there will be enough time for me to get the SSN and then apply for license before then.

Good luck to you and Stephen, I hope they won't keep you waiting too long.

You are not alone there.. future step daughter actualy offered to accompany me to go dress hunting when i get to NC but i declined coz I am sure it will cost more to have alterations done for the dress. That is the main reason why I am opting to have the dress sewn for me at least it will really fit me not some stick figure they call a model.

As for friends, they are happy for me but some of them did give Ricky a sermon on sanctity of marriage and etc. Most of my friends, the closest ones were quiet worried about me after they learned that Ricky has been divorced 3x in the past. My friends are just concerned because they have seen how I have been hurt before and have struggled to raise my two kids on my own and they told Ricky that they just don't want to see me hurt again. Well, I have been assuring them that we will be getting re-marriage counseling prior to tying the knot, it won't assure a 100% successful marriage but at least it will help a lot.

As for Ricky's friends, I don't know what they think... yet.

Amanda: Maybe that is the career change you have been looking for, to be team manager for 9-11year old boys. laughing.gif ... I am sure you are having a blast.. at least you are doing it with Stephen by your side. good.gif

Sally: You will change the course of history... after your ct scan, friday the 13th will be known to bring GOOD LUCK instead of bad.

Sending you positive energies and loads of prayers. rose.gif

Kim: I hope you will have your NOA2 soonest...

I also continue to hope and pray that everybody waiting will get their NOA2 soonest... Herolmounia, Keith & Lynda, and all the January CSC filers who are still waiting for NOA2 as well as those who have been waiting since last year.

I teach high school (ages 15-18), so my experience is slightly different than at the elementary level. I consulted a colleague who has more elementary expertise. At the high school level, most students already have set skills (math and reading), and the majority of classes are content, not skills based. At the elementary level, though, instruction is centered around learning skills such as reading and math. As a result, missing time at school puts children at a disadvantage.

My friend told me that missing the first couple of weeks should not be a problem, but anything beyond that could make them fall behind. Our nation is standardized-test crazy (scores are EVERYTHING), so schools start earlier and earlier with skills preparation for the tests. Based on their ages, your daughter should be entering 5th grade, and your son should be entering 3rd grade. If English is not their first or primary language, they may be given a test to measure their English proficiency. Depending on the scores, they may be placed in a class for limited English (in FL we call it English for Speakers of Other Languages-ESOL).

If you go on the state Department of Education (DOE) site for North Carolina, they can give you more information about testing and entering your children in school.

I hope this helps a little...

Thank you very much Dawn. This has indeed helped. good.gif I'm checking DOE-MC now.

Just got back from visiting England, had a wonderful time! It was hard to have to leave as i'm sure you all know that feeling. I was hoping to receive some notice prior to, or while I was away but no such luck sad.gif

Current Status: Response to request for evidence received, and case processing has resumed. ( April 10th )

June 10th will be 60 days ... what should I do, just wait on them or is it possible to call and inquire about it?

PS who else is a Jan 08 filer at VSC and still waiting?

Thanks,
Lynda

I was hoping you've been approved already.sad.gif....

there is still Herolmounia who are also waiting for the NOA2. They have tried calling but was discouraged by the not so friendly person that Mounia's fiance talked to.... but you or you fiance can try calling, who know you will end up calling a nice person who could give you positive response.

Just wanted to wish everyone a happy Sunday!!! Last week of school for me (then next week is summer school), so I have to do a mountain of planning this weekend!

Dawn, you are just the perfect person to ask.

Classes in Johnston county, NC would start August 25 but I am seriously considering going to the US first week of september when ticket prices become considerably cheaper. My question is: Do you think it is ok for the kids to miss out the first 3-4 weeks of school? Do you think they would still be able to cope up with lessons? (My daughter is 10, would be 11 next november, while my son is 8, would be 9 by september.) Do you think it would be ok for the kids to attend school 3rd or 4th week of september then be absent on Oct. 3 or would it be better for them to start school till after october 3 when everything has finally been settled, including the wedding.

I have talked to the kids and they said they are ok with going there on september, though they would actually rather stay here till next year or even till after they finish grade school (which is sooo out of the question whistling.gif ). Classes here starts next week and the kids would still be going to thier old school here June-July so they will be occupied while waiting and also be able to spend more time with their friends in school.

Any inputs you could share would be greatly appreciated.
