Very simple and small..but I like it!

Since my dress has pink accents, all the roses on the cake will be in pink only...
Is this picture working?

BEAUTIFUL!!! good.gif good.gif good.gif

I don't know if we will have cake... maybe a smaller one or cup cakes arranged in a tier. just something sweet to share star_smile.gif

I hate to admit that I am the USC...and can't write in English!

"Don't worry! Your medicals will be fine. How old are the kids?"

I guess we all have some typo scattered on this forum.... i have so many typos here and I am just glad nobody is taking count.

the kids are 10 & 8 respectively... and yeah I am sure they will be fine.. it is just that everytime I go for medical, i have this weird imagination that somebody will sabotage my specimen, change my sample urine or blood extraction or whatever other weird stuffs... but of course it is just my hyperactive imagination that is giving me undue stress. I passed my medical before I started working for a multinational pharmaceutical company years ago and also passed the annual medical check up but still... well, i could only truly relax after our medical.

Thank you for the well wishes nicole and amanda. star_smile.gif

CONGRATS on the medical and hopefully you get that interview date soon... the same goes for susie.

I can only imagine the stress & nerves beneficiaries go through with the medical exams & interviews. I know, I'd be a complete and nervous wreck. Even if I get the common cold, I dread going to the doctor. I'll put it off until it's absolutely necessary laughing.gif

Hmmmm, we could exchange places on May 13.... I am honestly dreading this medical more than the interview.. and to make matters worse I am dreading it 3times coz the kids will also have their medical and they are requiring all kids to have skin test (for tb) and they say that all who have had BCG vaccine when young would most always be positive on skin test and my kids had BCG vaccine when they were babies:(

i can only lift everything up to God and Let God's will be done.

When I called they confirmed all the paperwork was good and just waiting for London to schedule an interview. mad.gif

In the US embassy here, they just wait for NVC to send the approved petition and then a day or two after receiving the hard copy they let us call to set up interview schedule: that's the new procedure here. Before, it was the NVC which determines the interview sched and they only send the papers to the embassy when there is available interview sched already.... i don't know the process in London but if it was me, I would call NVC daily till they get irratated and give me an interview sched ASAP... well, it might cost to call NVC but.... hayyy, in one way or another, there are just some glitches in every US embassy. sad.gif ...

I do hope and pray that you both (sally and susie) get that interview sched next week. hold on tight and stay strong. rose.gif

Door-to-door is 26-27 hours for me, and the longest journey I've taken has been 72 hours; Gaye, you and Ricky have my full sympathy! I'm hoping that once I'm in the US I won't have to travel back to the UK every year but will manage to get my friends/family to visit me occasionally instead. wink.gif

Ticket prices are around $1600 for economy in the summer but in winter time they're only around $850 so I foresee a lot of Christmas visits. That is also why I'm planning to have my wedding in the autumn/winter-time.
I think door to door will be about the same for me... and yep, it will be more like xmas visits as well over here, its a lot cheaper (however, your summer ticket is my winter ticket lol.. during summer I pay double from that :S bleh... living in paradise does cost sad.gif lol)

I don't know how many hours it will be door to door.. there is additional 6-7 hours travel if i'd count door to door wacko.gif .. and i heard yah, about the plane ticket prices... 1way ticket for us if we'd go 1st week of june would be 800+ per person.. by mid june to august it will be 1,800++ per person with northwest (one way ticket)... while it will only be 700++ per person if we would opt to go there by september.... so I don't know now when we will go... I do want the kids to be there and be able to adjust to the new place and new everything before school starts in august 25. unsure.gif .. i have already asked too much from them when I decided to marry Ricky and move half way around the world, i just don't want to push them to start with the new school (which is already stressful in itself) without getting acclimated to the new environment, new house, new people, new weather, new language, new foods, and everything else that would be new.

Ok..well I tried my dress on this morning....to find .. it's too big! It fit perfectly when I bought it.

Well this is normally a good problem, but I just got off the phone arguing with the store I bought it from. They had told me if I needed to exchange sizes, they'd do it. They didn't mention it had to be within 90 days! It was 101 days ago that I bought it. However, they finally agree. Now I have to go drive 1.5 hours to exchange the dress....ooooo what we do for love smile.gif

I'd say BIG BIG CONGRATS!!!! I wish I could drop a few dress sizes also... I wouldnt mind driving 1.5 hours if i would only drop a few dress sizes. good.gif good.gif good.gif

It's a pity that Ricky can't come and accompany you on your trip but $2,500-3,000 is a considerable amount of money especially when going through the visa process! I'd have made the same decision.

I hope that you'll have a good trip; it's around 20 hours for me to travel to California, too, and it's so tiring! But at least flying is one of the 'easier' trips to make in that you have to carry your luggage for the least amount of time and you don't really have to think about anything, just follow the signs.

Yes, this visa process will limp our finances for the next few months but as long as we would be together, we could find ways to turn it around. We just need to be frugal as a bee.

Thanks for the well wishes Rachel. I hope you would already be preparing to go there when end of july comes.

We should start another topic for people who have to fly about 20 hours or more to get at their SO's rolleyes.gif hehe

Last year it took me close to 24 hours to get at my SO, this included 2 stopovers, both quite short ones too... gah I was tired when I arrived :/ but... it was worth it biggrin.gif

too bad the stupid plane tickets are so darn expensive, may would be the last month for us to travel, june up until half september will be about 3000 euro (about 4500 usd) or even more for us to travel (normally it is about 1000 euro, about 1500 usd, for my trip).. its soooo expensive these days, it sucks, I know I wont be seeing my SO before september (well, unless I get the visa sooner and really want to leave but I rather save the money for the AOS and such tho).

last time ricky came here, it took more than 48 hours coz of some airline problems... my mistake on the 18hours,,, the least travel time is 21 hours... the options are 21hours to 40hours depending on how many stops.

last time he was here, the fare was just 1300++ round trip... now its 1,800++-5000 depending on class and how many stop over..

It is, thanks - although roll on the weekend - I have some sleep to catch up on!

I see you're waiting on an interview date, too - hope that comes quickly for you!

So how are all of the Vermont filers doing with regards to packing and preparing to leave your country? Have you already started to ship/sell items or are you waiting until you have your Visa in hand? How much are you shipping?

I will start sorting stuffs when i get the visa and will probably hold a garage sale for some of my stuff and then donate some of it to our daughter churh at the mountains....

But of course I won't be going to the US till end of July or first week of August so there will be plenty of time for the packing, closing accounts and closing shops and everything.

Ricky might not be able to come here and get us anymore since it's a little financially impractical to do so at the current situation. We could actually save $2,500-3,000 from his airfare and expenses coming here, that is already the amount for our AOS.... So I may have to travel alone half way around the globe with the kids... travel time is between 18-22hours depending on airline and number of stops.

The thought is a little scary but I am a big girl, I know I will survive it... the kids can survive it also... i won't be carrying our luggages all the way anyway. blush.gif

if i am to have my way, i won't have him undergo circumcision but then he had been asking me for over a year now.. he actually decided summer last year that he's have it by december but I was the one who has always been hesitant.

P.S. no news on our case. Randy called them...they were very polit? but short sad.gif

I feel lucky then that I was allowed inside.. at least i was able to hold his hand.. yesterday we went back for dressing coz the gauze had sticked to the skin and it was painful to remove (it was my fault, i should have taken it out soon as we got home the other day) My son was in pain but he didn't cry out loud, I just cried for him... as mothers we always want to have our kids pain instead of them suffering.

re your case status.... I hope Randy would keep on trying tell he be able to speak to somebody who could really tell him something... My heart just breaks for you Rina, I hope and pray you'd receive good news before this month ends. You know I always include you in my prayers.

What? No NOA1 yet?? it's been two months? how about your check were they cashed? he should really ask them what's going on, there are March filers getting approval already and you still don't have the NOA1.. if you can check with some of the April filers, some of them didn't get NOA1 coz their papers were lost or something and they had to refile again... It's so nice for you to bring our January thread back up.....

You must have been frustrated when the mower died out.... but at least in 14days you have somebody to cut grass for you:) SOO EXCITING! kicking.gif

Latest non-visa related news with me is that my 8 year old son was circumcised just 2 days ago... there is a stigma here in the Philippines about any male who is not circumcised so my son has been bugging me to allow him to go for it coz some of his friends is already circumcised.. i have been putting it off for awhile coz I get more nervous than him... but I finally relented and I was just holding his hands during the whole procedure, he didn't even cry while I already wanted to cry already.

Well, the pain of being a mother... mothers do feel their kids pain: emotional and physical, twice as strong as their kids who are facing those pain.

Thank you. i will still need to discuss things with Ricky and then I will let you know. But we might end up making plans till after the interview. (When we called the embassy here on April 1, we were offered April 9, April 22, April 29 and whole month of May to pick a date for interview and I had to chose May 21 so he could have plenty of time to compile the needed documents to send me--and it is just I-134 and supporting documents really coz he already have the other stuffs when we sent I-129F and I already have a copy of 98% of I-129F coz I was the one who made it) I am just grateful that he is not the one going to the interview and be filing up all these forms and compiling these documents needed on my end. That would have been more stressful on both of us. wacko.gif Well, he is still my guy and I'm sticking with him and in fairness to him he have other strengths and numerous admirable qualities. luv.gif

I tried to get away with just having a civil service, but my parents wouldn't have it. And after the planning started, I even said it would be so much easier to go to Vegas, but my mother immediately put an end to that. Being the only daughter has some challenges in the easy department for weddings!!! wacko.gif The other problem is I am the youngest "grandchild" as well, and I come from a rather large family, both my parents each have 5 other siblings, so my extended family goes on and on for miles!!!! When it came down to trying to create a guest list, it kept growing by family members laughing.gif In the end, we will be happy to share it with friends and family.

Bolded for 'applies to me'! I'm in pretty much the same situation - only I'm not the only daughter, but I am the eldest grandchild and the first to be married, which comes with its own pressures!

If you were both my daughters, it won't matter whether you're eldest or youngest or only daughter or just one of the daughters, I would want to see you both in a beautiful wedding gown and to have the most beautiful wedding... especially since this will be the first time (and hopefully the last time and only time) that both of you would be getting married.

Seeing even one of her daughters wear a wedding gown is one of my mother's greatest frustration... and I will yet to fulfil it when we have our wedding (ceremonial wedding which will be a renewal of vows sort of thing) in the Philippines in 3-5years from now.

When you have daughters of your own, you will fully understand why mothers are making such a big fuzz about their daughter's wedding (in the same way that we only came to fully understand the immigration process now that we are going through it). Your wedding is not only a gift for yourself but also a gift for your mothers. So bear it all and be the most stunning bride ever. good.gif

here's the rental fees:http://www.hr.duke.e...rental_fees.htm but if you have a friend there, who knows it might be free for you guys. The place looks so serene and beutiful. good.gif

As for spending for the wedding, it first wedding for both of you, you still don't have kids so there is really no worry about spending a little more on it.

For us, this will be my 2nd (though technically the first was deemed null and void from the start, it was like kids play, done at our garage with a minister who had no license to officiate blink.gif ) and I'd be his 4th wife wacko.gif . He's had the big fancy wedding decades ago during his first wedding, he's had a courthouse wedding, and his had a small chapel wedding. So for his 4th (AND DEFINITELY THE LAST, unless I die first) I just want something intimate and memorable for both of us and for our kids: a family wedding where we could also exchange vows with our kids. Amanda, I checked the Duke's Garden and it is BEAUTIFUL! but it is more pricey than either Lake Johnson or Lake Wheeler in Raleigh, the two places that we have been considering.

By the way, what is the other place that you were mentioning, the one that overlooks the lake? If it will be even more pricey than Duke's Garden then we can't really afford it but it will be nice to check out other places in N.C.

This immigration process is really putting a strain on our back: there's 3 of us (me and the kids), three visa fees, 3 medical fees, 3airfares and 3 AOS fees wacko.gif because of this, the wedding is compromised... we just have to make the most out of the little funds that we have.

That's a great idea... maybe Darren & Dawn could start it since they'll pobably be the first ones to finish the first leg of the immigration process. good.gif

Poor Darren is so nervous...but we've been going over things about the interview DAILY, so hopefully that will make him a little more comfortable about the process...When I was in London, we even made a nighttime visit to the embassy so he would know how to get there...

I bet he is nervous, its only 2weeks to go! That will come in no time at all. But I'm sure he'll do great! good.gif

Slight correction y'all wink.gif

Dawn & Darren will be the first interview we know of within the January filers circle for the UK. But Nicole and Marco, his interview is next week in Frankfurt!!

We emailed the embassy in Frankfurt today, so hopefully we'll have an interview date tomorrow or early next week!!! smile.gif

WOW! so they will be the first couple to have interview for January filers? I hope everything goes smoothly for them.

Hope you'll get your interview date also Amanda. good.gif

Bryan doesn't post here either. he doesn't even read this forum, unless I send him a link with something important (well I hope he does read what I send him! wink.gif )

svache, you're not the only male here, there's also Blake. There might be a few other ones but I can't think of any right now.
There was Chris, but you wouldn't like his posts anyway. no0pb.gif

I was actually going to file all the paperwork in December, but.... Olga left out a couple of key words in the letter of intent due to a pretty bad cut and paste job on the example I sent her. By the time I had received another signed (and complete) letter more than 30 days had passed and well, I found myself with the rest of you January filers. Thank goodness, because this is a great group of people. If I do have to wait a long time for approval, I can't think of a better group to do it with. yes.gif

Oh yeah, there was ChrisFuture also, a fellow January filer who filed @ CSC january 30.... poor bloke has been waiting 50+days already and he was probably expecting to have the approval in a week... it was just too much for him & his very patient fiancee. BLESS THEIR HEARTS! innocent.gif .

NO! Not July protest6wz.gif.. CSC is picking up speed now so I am really hoping and praying you guys will start getting approval by mid-April. I'm positive there will be January CSC filer approvals before April ends. I can smell it in the air!

I'll start badgering him again. I don't know why he doesn't post; he has 30,000 posts on another forum so it's not as if he's not used to how they work. laughing.gif He does read all of these posts, though, so - Alex: Read this!

Oh geez..I better get in touch with Aidan. He only mentioned the DS-230 and the checklist. He's not the most organized person in the world so I fear him not having me there to review things before they are sent off might result in a mistake. Maybe I'll just fill the forms in for him and send them over for him to sign.

Did you answer the question on the DS-230 re: did anyone assist you with preparation of this form? Curious if I do the forms for him and answer this question "yes" if that will cause any red flags. Can you see my obsessive nature coming out? Ha ha.
We just answered "no"....from one OCD person to another... good.gif laughing.gif wink.gif

Count me in on the OCD whistling.gif innocent.gif ... I am just glad that for the US consulate in the Philippines, they would only be needing the affidavit of support from the sponsor... no packet 3. all the other forms is for me to fill in and bring to the interview. yes.gif

Thank you very much smashrox rose.gif

I wish I am indeed a CSC january filer who got approved, at least it would have meant all the other january CSC filers are in line already.... but as it is, I am a VSC filer, it's probably not very obvious because I didn't get a superfast record breaking approval smile.gif but I still feel very very lucky to get approved in less than two months..... but it still breaks my heart to see fellow January VSC filers and those who filed months before me still waiting to be approved and all the CSC filers still waiting a few more weeks to a few months longer. sad.gif
