i think you can call the NVC to check if they received your I-129F application.. the flowchart says, you can call after 2weeks, but i have read about people calling just 1week after receiving their NOA2 and they still received favorable response.

some also tried emailing the NVC... for the NVC contact information, pls click HERE

Teachers can certainly have a rough time here. Not just from the children, but also children's parents! There are few rights for teachers and you do hear some horror stories, and to be a good teacher you really have to have an extremely strong personality. You can't lay a finger on a child - even if it's to help them, i.e. with a cut - without first filing a report.


Paperworks! that's what i hate the most. Well, actually, it is the redundancy of the reports that i really hate.. you just have to keep repeating everything over and over again and i just don't have the patience for that.

Anyway, I hope we would see favorable movements with VSC and CSC today. good.gif

So, TRUE! It took me a while to get adjusted to school in the states. That was back in 1979. When I came to Washington, D.C. the teachers were on strike. When I did start school I was a total cultural shock. The kids spoke back to the teachers and had no respect for them at all. Of course, I was always the teachers pet.
It seems like the workload gets bigger every year, but our paychecks don't reflect that...but I didn't go into teaching to make money, that's for sure...but I would like to make enough to live beyond just rent, food, and utilities...lately, with petrol, groceries, rent, and utilities going up in price more than my pay, it's difficult...but I have a job that I love, and I'm thankful for that...


Do kids really talk back to teachers and have no respect there? sad.gif Some of the teachers from here who are now working there have also reported the same, but most of them are in the florida, california and new york areas.. i don't know if that makes a difference.... and also, is it true that praying is prohibited in schools?

Anyway, KUDOS to you Dawn and to all the other wonderful teachers. I'm a business grad but i took units in special education and worked for a few months with children with autism and also those with ADD/ADHD. While I love being with special children, I don't have the patience for the recording part. I don't know if it is the same there but here there are just tons and tons of paperwork associated with teaching.

I'm hats off to teacher who have true passion for teaching and also have the patience for paperworks...

When I get there, I am hoping to find a way to work with special children without going into teaching... perhaps learn about other forms of interventions and do volunteer work. Here, all forms and methods of intervention programs for children with autism are being tackled in class discussions for teachers but only in theory. In reality, the few schools for special children here only use modified ABA (applied behavioral analysis) which I personally find very restrictive and aversive. My heart would always break when I see the regular teachers (the regular teaching staff at the special school i was with) forcefully restrain children when they have their so-called "tantrums" without addressing what may have caused the agitation... everytime, I would just turn around and force myself not to cry.

Now, if i could have the chance to learn and master some less aversive intervention program when i get there, i would surely bring it back home and share it with the schools for special kids here... well, i am rambling already blush.gif

Hey, have you noticed that on feb. 17 (sunday), there were a lot (as in A LOT) of touches especially among december filers, then that week we've seen december approvals roll in... then, on feb. 24 (sunday), there were a lot of touches again especially among january filers, then of course, they started kicking in january approvals... i have not noticed the same crazy touches on march 2(sunday) on any filing month... i hope it does not equate to low number of approvals this week.

I'm not yet expecting to get approval this week (next week probably--10th or 11th, just a wild guess) but i do love to see our name going up.... ok, im really going to sleep now

Thanks so much Rachel. I am still ok as of now. I'm positive we will get the approval & visa before school year starts in North Carolina. we both want my 2 kids to get there in time for the start of school.

I just hope and pray that those who have been waiting longer will get approved soon and that CSC will catch up soon. It is just not right that on top of the longer waiting period, you CSC filers will still go through the emotional roller coaster of seeing people within your timelines get their approvals earlier a month or two from now. for VSC fielrs, its emotional roller coaster right away.

Well, everything is in God's mighty hands. He will never be late nor too early, God's time is always the PERFECT TIME.

As for dresses...well, my mother's friend made my mother feel guilty for not taking enough of an interest in my wedding, so this evening my mother has asked if I'd like to go dress shopping with her next week when I visit my parents. We originally thought of having beach wedding here this year but since we changed plans and did the K1 instead.. We still plan on having a beach wedding here in the Philippines maybe 3-5years after so it is ok to have a simple wedding when i get there... Now, that BBQ backyard wedding would sound really kwel!

least i be misunderstood, i know not everyone in the south are rednecks and i think those rednecks jokes are just that, "jokes"... it is the same way, here in my place, Filipinos from other regions always use our diction here when they want to make a character the butt f joke in the movies.. but people from my region don't really take those seriously. we always know better... the same way, me and my fiance just laugh about redneck jokes, he even says he is a redneck sometimes ("here's the sign")... but it doesn't really affect him in any negative way.

I had a crazy dream last night... (well it's thursday morning here in my part of the world by the way) I dreamed we were touched again and then the status had changed... changed not to approval stat but to RFE STAT wacko.gif . In my dream they were asking for my son's school record to prove that he is indeed 11 years old (my son is just 8 yr old actually & i have a 10 year old daughter) laughing.gif

i will take this one as a good sign since there are so many other filers who were touched on the same day also... remember last sunday when there were so many december filers getting touched? and then, december approvals started pouring in last week, more than 10 december approvals last week! dancin5hr.gif .... i just don't know if all those who were touched got approval but still a touch on a Sunday is always a good thing dancin5hr.gif

for those who were not touched, just always hold this truth in your heart: THERE ARE A LOT OF APPLICATION WHICH NEVER EVER RECEIVED TOUCHES EARLY ON THE PROCESS AND YET WERE APPROVED FASTER THAN THOSE WHO HAVE GOTTEN SO MANY TOUCHES!

I would be happy to get approval the soonest... but I will be happier to see all my fellow January filers get approved the soonest, even those who filed at CSC: NO RFE for anyone.... and I will be happiest to see all those who have filed before me, especially those who have filed since June or earlier, get their approval soonest.

I filed on 12/31/07 and it was received on 1/3/08 and the check was cashed on 1/7/08. I didn't get our NOA1 yet because whoever entered our information, forgot to enter my apartment number. So it's floating somewhere because when I called the CSC, they never received it as returned. But I have our receipt number. Just keeping an eye on it.

These forums are quite addictive, aren't they. I keep checking the CSC NOA2 approval thread to see if there's any activity (one today), and of course my cohorts in this thread. It's very uplifting when I see people getting approved, in some way it makes me feel one step closer. On the other hand when there's no activity it does seem a little sad. Enjoy your schoolwork, I'm at the office myself today.

as others have mentioned here, NOA 1 is not an accurate gauge coz some people put the the received date as NOA1 while some put in the date when NOA1 was sent by the USCIS...

My fiance sent me my Valentine's gift the 5th of February. They said it would take 5 to 10 days to go to France. Everyday I checked my mailbox and it wasn't there. hello and welcome to VJ and to the january filers thread!

Since you already have your NOA1 you can use the case number found there to check the status of your petition or you can also register to be able to monitor touches.

"touch" is when your last update date changes from the last time you check you status on USCIS site (provided you have registered an account). and pls don't stress so much on the touches, we are still early on our visa journey so touches at this point may just mean somebody moved our file from one desk to another or from one filing bin to another.... if you will read through the post on the different threads you will see that there are a lot of people getting approved without getting any touch until the day they are approved. i don't know if i had explained it well but i hope i have somewhat ease your worries a little.

Yes, some VSC filers might receive their NOA2 in a month, but I doubt that will be the case for CSC. Hopefully though they will start going fast again (like they did 2 weeks ago) and we won't have to wait 6 months either.
