thanks for the link sunnybear, it's one wedding site i have never checked out. good.gif

$5,000 for the wedding wacko.gif .. i am really hoping for a little less than that. I will be buying my dress here and also ricky's barong so I guess it will slash the wedding budget a little. It is cheaper here compared to buying in the US. We will have his cousin do the photography so it is another thing that will be free... and we wont have that many guest so I hope we could really fit everything in a less than $5,000 budget.
Our budget is about that, too. I keep seeing all these brides who are like "Wahhhh...my budget is only 25,000...how am I going to AFFORD everything." And I'm like "ummm...what?"

Somehow this cracked me up... maybe those are brides who have rich daddy paying for everything... but still $25,000 for a wedding???? I would rather spend and prepare for the life we will share AFTER the wedding than spend a fortune for just one day. But of course it is just me.

Sticking to a budget is good! I can fully understand your concerns...fuss isn't me, either! Good luck sorting everything out; I hope it doesn't cause too much stress. smile.gif

Yeah, we have fixed it... my future stepdaughter's bf will be best man and ashley, FSD, will be my maid of honor and my kids will walk with me to the altar..... but i told ricky that should be it, no more bridesmaids, groomsmen and all other fuss.

I just hope 1st week of Oct won't be too cold for an outdoor wedding.

Not yet, mostly because at the moment the plans change from one day to the next - it might be better to talk when we both have a more concrete idea of what to do! One week we can't find anywhere and we're going to need to cut down on the number of guests, the next someone has offered us their garden and we can have as many people as we'd like. We still don't even have a firm date, yet, so that's also complicating the planning somewhat. wacko.gif That, and I've been worrying about Packet 3 and vaccinations these past few days.

Aww using the garden and having just a bbq or something would be wonderful! Do they have a nice huge lush garden? I can direct you to loads of ideas when you are ready for them hahaha....it is VERY overwhelming but I found once you pick a theme of sorts it helps!!!

I can relate to 'plan changes from one day to the next... wacko.gif

last month Ricky and I already agreed not to have best man, maid of honor and all that fuzz. We agreed that it will be a very intimate wedding with just me and him and our 3 kids plus his mom and sister and family of his sister..... today, he was talking about getting the measurement of his daughter's bf for the barong (a filipino formal wear for men) and he will be sending it to me so i could go ahead and have it done here.. I was like: "wait, i thought we wouldn't be having all those fuss?"

I just want to have an outdoor wedding with a bbq reception and just a licensed Christian minister to perform the ceremony and that's it... now I don't know what he will pop up again next time we talk... I told him we should set the budget and then plan around it and stick with it NOT plan ahead and then have the budget later.

sunny, hope you could share ideas for a wedding by the lake (it is actually a park)... but first, I hope you will get that NOA2 soonest. I'm rooting for you!!!!

rachel, I am with you.. when the medical and interview seems so close, it will be hard to think of other things... especially big things such as wedding.

I agree, now that we got NOA2, things look more "real". We are really going to leave our country, start a new life with our fiance (soon to be husband/wife). This can be quite stressing. So many things to take care before leaving, so many things to organize! but I'm sure we will all be fine smile.gif

On another note, I just realized that Bryan's new intent of letter is probably still addressed to the USCIS (or whoever it was supposed to be addressed the first time) and not to the embassy... do you think I should ask him to send me another one?

You are soo right about the stress of leaving your home country and your family and friends... I still have 3 months here and I am starting to have mix feelings.. I am happy that I will be with the man I love and be with him for the rest of my life and yet I am sad to be leaving my family and friends here.. I also have the fear that once I leave, I won't be able to see my father alive ever again which add to my torn feelings. Well, at least he is showing health progress since his last hospitalization compared to a few months back. I just have to think that my father is a fighter, always been a fighter so I guess he still have years and decades to live.

Re new letter of intent, I do not know if it is a requirement in the US embassy in your country but in the Philippines it is not, though I did bring a new letter of intent from Ricky addressed to the US embassy in Manila during my interview but they never asked for it.. i have not encountered anybody who was asked for a letter of intent here.. but of course it might be different in your home country.

If the new letter of intent will make you feel more comfortable and confident for the interview then I would say, go ask for a new one specifically addressed to the USembssy in france.

Loads of luck and God's blessings always.

I am indeed under the age of 27 - I am 24, will be 25 when I emigrate!

That is strange about the medical fees. We pay a rate here for the medical, blood results and x-ray and any injections on top of that are extra. That's why I am getting them done beforehand, as even if I have to pay privately they will be cheaper than at the medical (for example, £80 for one HPV injection with my doctor compared to £115 for one HPV injection with the London medical people). So you paid for it but couldn't have it done?

Yeah, paid for it but they couldn't give it to me coz of age... and strange is actually the surname of USEM Philippines. whistling.gif .. some here gets 6 shots, others gets 1 or 2 vaccine shots and we all pay the same medical fee. But at least medical and interview has been done and over with. now I am just waiting when I would get out of the AR black hole so we could really finalize planning.

I wish you and cecile will have interview schedules soon. good.gif

Well, I had my MMR today, free on the NHS! The nurse was really nice, said to return next week and she'd have had a thorough look over my records (she couldn't believe I'd only had 3 shots since I was born) and inquired about the HPV vaccine for me (which I have to have done privately, £80 a shot). She also said that the NHS doesn't cover medical advice for immigration purposes and that technically they're supposed to charge me, but that they're fairly liberal and usually waive the fees. biggrin.gif

HPV vaccine? I would assume you are still 26yrs old and or younger then? (i know we might have talked about ages but it seemed like eons ago already.. must be sign of me getting older)

I would have wanted to have the HPV vaccine but they put in "not age appropriate" for HPV on my vaccination record... they said I am already over age for it. unsure.gif

of course the private OB-GYN disagrees and said 30 is not yet overage for HPV vaccine (she charges $175 per shot for HPV)... the thing is, here in the Philippines, the USEM accredited center included all vaccines in our medical exam fee which means I included HPV on what i paid for.

BIG BIG CONGRATS DJ+Ten.. if Nvc received the approved I-129F May 15, there is a strong possibilty that your papers are already in Manila US embassy. You can call to schedule interview appointment already. Numbers to call are: 1-909-101-7878 if calling within the Philippines... 1-888-877-9888 if calling outside the Philippines. Some wait for the beneficiary to receive notification from embassy, others like me didn't wait at all. (I am highly OC so I tracked down our papers from NVC to USEM and soon as I knew our papers were there we gave it 2 working days then we called for interview appointment). Pls check here for more information:http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3238.html

No kidden? You can do that?
We'll try that.
Thanks,
DJ

Yes sir you can call, you won't have interview appointment sched unless you make the call. it is the new procedure ath the US embassy in the Philippines now.. when to call is another question. For us we called soon as our papers was with embassy in manila and didn't have problem at all. But pls make sure that you only call Monday to Friday, 8AM-6PM Manila time.

Pls check the Philippine forum for US embassy manila specific topics.

Best of luck again. good.gif

NOA2 Recvd but Online Status is Broke
My I-129F NOA1 date is Jan 4th and NOA2 date is May 7, and NVC received on May 15, 2008.
I know the last two dates from paper mail.
CSC "updated" my "online status" on May 7 but it reads exactly the same as it did in January. There is no mention of the NOA2.
I was also signed up for email notification, but alas, no email arrived.
Is it routine for the electronic notices to be missed?

I'd like to extend my late BIG BIG CONGRATS to those who have been approved in the last 2weeks.

I'm back after a long period of going through medical and interview.... Our medical and interview was not the smoothest of smooth but I don't have any right to complain since we got approved. kicking.gif

Now that I think about it, the consul did ask me my age then he asked me ricky's birthdate... there's a 15year gap between us, Ricky being the cradle snatcher whistling.gif (if a 30yr old woman could still be considered in a cradle innocent.gif )...

kidding aside, the consul was more concerned about the authenticity of the relationship than the age difference and also the legal capacity of each party to contact marriage.

My dad's laptop and some of his prescription drugs (which he doesn't really need... Kind of an advantage there), my mom's old 1940's binoculars and a bunch of her jewelery, one of my checkbooks and a bunch of loose change.

I'm more annoyed that they took my mom's jewelery and her old 1940's binoculars than anything else, though.

I mean, my dad's laptop, yeah that was expensive but it was just a laptop. His drugs, well, he didn't really need those anyway.

But those old binoculars were like a family heirloom and the jewelry was really nice.

The real wedding is hopefully going to be cheap as chips anyway! What I'm concerned with is having money for moving/visa/medical. Until I have enough money to pay for my flight and shipping my belongings sorting out the actual wedding is a moot point.
Well good luck on the driving, Olga's in the same situation. She want's me to teach her when she gets here, but I think that in order to avoid having to "correct" her continually (always dangerous for a husband to do) I'll get her in a driving class so someone else can do it. whistling.gif

The money issue is a big one for most of us. I'm trying to figure out how I'll get through all this without getting up to my eyeballs in debt. August is going to be an ugly financial month for sure. My daughter's first semester college tuition is due and if things go smoothly I'll be forking over a round trip and two one way tickets from Kiev. Mucho Dollars. Oh boy. blink.gif

I can relate with the money thing... we've changed plans so many times becoz of it.. Ricky was supposed to come here and get us by end of july or first week of august but we figured we could save the $2,500-3,000 that he is going to spend coming here on other things that we would be needing... this process is indeed a very expensive process most especially since the cost is times three for me and the kids. Ricky feels bad about letting me & the kids fly half way around the world without him but since I was the one who suggested it, I had to tell him it is ok and it is the most practical thing to do, besides I don't think I would be dragging all our luggage all over the planet, it will just sit on the cargo portion and me and the kids will just sit and wait for the plane to land.

I honestly would have loved for him to come here and personally assure my parents that he will not insure me then chop me to pieces and I would have loved for our church to lay hands on us and pray for us but with the rising cost of everything and with the ailing economy of the US, I just thought that practicality should take centerstage. I don't want to put more financial strain on both of us since we will be starting a new life and I know I still won't be able to work and help him financially right away. I'd like to think I am just a very practical person and $2,500-3,000 is still huge amount.

Yes, now I'm going to start checking the USCIS website excessively. I've already checked it 3 times since I woke up this morning wacko.gif

I don't know if it was just me but when i was obssessively checking USCIS site, it didn't came.. but when I decided to stop checking they sent me the email... i think it was true with some also.

It will be depressing to constantly check USCIS site and that status update doesnt change.. it will eventually wear you out faster... this is the time to actually find ways to be more busy.

I wish all of you would all get it soon.. NO STRANGLERS!!!

Dbears, you're also a Vermont Filer so you'll probably be interviewing by the time I get my NOA2. Like you, I will probably not see my SO until I fly out to Kiev for her interview and to bring her home. But for some reason I still check flights and my checkbook to see if an earlier trip is possible - this separation stuff is for the birds. It is nice to see all the January filers supporting each other - I can't imagine going through all this without being able to talk to people who are going through the same process. I tried to explain the whole process to my father not long ago and he was pissed off at our friends at the USCIS within 15 minutes. People not going through this really don't understand. I appreciate all of you and your efforts. Keep the Faith yes.gif

trust me son, i know how you feel whistling.gif good.gif

CSC is working hard to catch up with VSC.. well, at least last week they were... well, let's just hope those who got approved this week are still too overwhelmed to share the good news. let's wait till they come down to earth again to share their approval story.... approvals do give us hope and encouragement you know.

I'm in Bogota now with Bella.. Will be here for another 6 days, then I go to San Andres to take care of some things for my business there..
I am counting down the days...literally...I leave to see Aidan on Valentine's Day but only for a long weekend. I work as a tax accountant and had to BEG for these days off.

I won't be seeing Rick again till August when he comes here to accompany us back to US (i'm keeping a positive mind that we will have the visa on hand before August).

I'm so jealous of you joe for being with bella now and to ashley for having a long weekend with your SO.. i wish i could have even one day with Rick right now. crying.gif

Well, I just console myself by thinking August is not really too far away and that this would be our last valentines day apart.

VSC is already working on some November filers... there are some october filers who have interview scheds already... so we are not so far behind... VSC January filers would probably start getting NOA2 by April -- as long as there are no RFE--... We would have our interview by June also. AND NO RFE FOR ALL JANUARY FILERS!!! Well, I'd rather not see touches until the day they approve us (maybe I should stop checking USCIS site daily?-- but i can't do it, it's a habit already girlwerewolf2xn.gif -- see, this journey is turning me into a looney, it's not even one month yet rolleyes.gif )... Well, I do remember reading that a US - Cuban couple was approved 1 week after they sent their petition at the beginning of Junuary. Apparently, when you're from Cuba that goes a lot faster! Maybe the second couple was from Cuba too ?
Check this out: Zulima & Yanzel Timeline
Sent I-129F: 1/3/2008; NOA1: 1/12/2008; NOA2: 1/14/2008; Interview date: 6/9/2008

Barbara & Alex Timeline
Sent I-129F: 1/11/2008; NOA1: 1/15/2008; NOA2: 1/22/2008

Country is Cuba but consulate is Switzerland (why switzerland???-- i guess i need to brush up on my geography blink.gif )... So it's true, they did get their NOA2 really fast!!!..... well, it takes them a long time to get interview schedule so I guess that evens out.. we would probably have the same interview date as them or maybe, even earlier good.gif
Maybe the Cuban fiance is currently in Switzerland?

Anyway, yes I hope we will have an interview date as "early" as theirs!! that would be great!
Please people in CSC, continue to approve 30 petitions (or more!) each week!!!
Cuba's a special case since we do not have an embassy there - the Swiss embassy serves as charge-de-affairs in Cuba. I've read about other Cuban citizens being processed here and all have worked outside the normal timelines.

That explains it good.gif. I'm learning new things, thank you.

Does that mean they would need to vie for interview schedule with people from switzerland or other countries that don't have embassy also? Coz if you'd look at the first couple, their interview date is 5months after the NOA2.. that is awfully long (though, at least they do have interview schedule already)

I know I'm coming late into this topic, but you're not alone. I filed January 23rd, received NOA1 after about 1 week, dated January 25th.

I hope everything else goes quickly. So I am just starting the waiting game.

You and I are on the same timeline. Your expected adjucated date is sooner than mine - lucky!

Historically, VSC is faster than CSC. But at the rate the 2 service centers are going, as long as no one will get RFE, we would all get our NOA2 earlier than the VJ estimated adjudication date no matter where we filed.

Cheer up guys, our time will come. For USC, you only have a few months more to prepare for your SO's arrival.. and for the alien fiancee/fiance (like me) there's few months left to enjoy my time with my family and my friends here. Time moves fast, and before we know it, we will all be saying "I do's" with our SO already.

BTW guys, this will probably sound like a very stupid question but how did you get your canceled check with receipt number back? unsure.gif
I think for most on this board they looked up their canceled check online. On the back where the service center endorses your check should be a case number with letters & numbers.

Thanks, i'll surely pass this info to SO later.
