Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	When is form considered filed?	Does anybody know when USCIS considers the I-751 as filed? Is it when postmarked? When it arrives at the USCIS office? My two years expires 12/11/11 which is a Sunday. Does that mean it needs to be received by Friday to be filed on time? Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 December filers	You should received a new permanent resident card, Form i-551 within 60 days. Your card will include a mailer, Form I797D with important information about your status, responsibilities, and permanent resident services available to you." Can you or anyone explain what is involved with the Form I-551 and the I797D? Is there more paperwork after approval!!!! The I-551 is your new permanent resident card. Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 December filers	I'm beginning to get jealous of all you CSC filers who are getting approvals! My only semi-related news is that I filed my passport renewal when I was up in Canada for Mother's Day and my new passport was delivered this morning. (I'll spare you the telling of the story of the hour-long ordeal it was getting my passport photo taken in my hometown. I ended up wishing I'd just done it while we were in the city. Even after I got the call from FedEx saying they were delivering something tomorrow, I was sure it would be a photo rejection (even though the passport office clerk saw my photos when he accepted my application). I think that's because the processing time was 10 business days, and I got my passport only six days after handing over my renewal paperwork. I handed the paperwork in on Tuesday, and it left Canada on Friday. If only removing conditions from our green cards was so quick!	maplestar	Male	Canada	2012-05-21 14:45:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 December filers	Yep -- it took a long while for my appointment to come through. I think a lot of the reason is because Norfolk, VA is the seat of the U.S. Navy -- the largest Naval base in the world. I can only imagine that a LOT of immigration stuff goes through the local office. So Together-forever, if you're feeling worried about it, it can't hurt to call. But sometimes it can take awhile for the biometrics to get scheduled. It does surprise me, though, because when I went for my biometrics appointment for adjusting status and then went this past week (both in Norfolk), the place has always been dead: a huge space, and never been busy that I've seen. There have been some items not arriving in the mail lately, which is worrying me a little. I'll wait another week or so before I give USCIS a call though. Yeah, I think I made a similar post about a day before my biometrics letter arrived, because it seemed like everybody else had a date but me. The next day's mail had my letter. Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 December filers	I'm starting to get a little concerned since I haven't received my biometrics letter yet. What seems to be the normal timeframe for that these days? I think I've read that it's based on the backlog/availability of biometrics appointments through the local office. In my case, it was almost a month after my NOA date when I received my biometrics letter. My appointment is for two months after my NOA date, which is longer than what most of the December filers have had to wait, and I was early in December. So I wouldn't be worried quite yet, but if you get to a month out from the NOA date, that's when I'd start thinking about calling.	maplestar	Male	Canada	2012-01-26 17:31:00

That's the impression that I got from reading the DMV website. Yes, that's right. Because you can't renew a limited-duration license, and that's all you can get unless you're a citizen or have a ten-year green card. Coming from Ontario where driver's licenses were so expensive, it feels fun to pay my $4 for a one-year license...but I'm ready to deal with the DMV less often. We're also in Virginia, so my wife's license expires the same day as her GC. Yes...everybody was a little uncertain, I think, and I saw people referring to binders to make sure they were doing things right, and a supervisor had to be called to confirm what date to expire the new license: was it one year from the date on the green card or one year from the date on the NOA (they settled on one year from the date on the green card, which didn't worry me much one way or the other, since there was only 2 days difference in my case). But everybody found the information they needed to get me licensed. I was fortunate that it was shortly before Christmas, and my local DMV was very quiet. I was in and out in 25 minutes: I didn't even have time to look at the reading I'd brought with me to pass the time. I was called to the counter before I'd finished filling out the form! Probably the biggest hassle in my case was that my driver's license expired before I received the NOA, so I had to take the city bus to the DMV, since my wife was working.
