PhilippinesLast min check list
Thanks :) funny how one who'd be so obsessed with details (me) overlook a simple two letter word "OR" :)

EXACTLY ~

Read the instructions for the I-134 instructions, it asks for income OR financial resources, if you have adequate income you don't need to list other resources.

PhilippinesLast min check list
Great Thread by the way...

I do have a question ( or sanity check ) regarding the Banking info..

Hank added "If you income alone exceeded the minimums... don't DO-DO when DO will DO. " to the Statment from Credit Union with a letter from them stating I have been in good standing for 15 yrs

For personal and fiscal reasons I changed my banking preferences this year. With my annual income greater than $80k ( as shown on previous 1040 and also current pay stubs projecting the same which I will send), am I to assume that I don't have to provide a detailed breakdown of my account, balances and how long I have been with my particular bank?

Thanks

PhilippinesFlying from Manila.
Asiana Airlines and Korean Air... both have top notch service... with a little bit of playing with date/times i have found that using search engines like fare compare dot com shows u price differences based on flight dates and you can adjust the dates and see the price fluctuations.... Re: The Delta to Seattle... :) I will check them out for sure... The layover at Incheon isn't bad at all and allows me the opportunity to break up the flight so its like 2 segments.

As a FYI... The last time i flew Asiana, I had a 12.5 hour layover at Incheon. To compensate me for the long layover, they offered me a complimentary hotel or a paid tour of Seoul. ( I took the tour)..

Both airlines (offered as budget airlines) are by far cleaner and better than domestic flights Ive traveled here in the US.

( just my thoughts)

The shower area at the airport..... used it... its a great benefit ...

Hi! I have tried Delta, Korean Air, PAL so far from US to Phils, vice versa. Heres the thing, i loved Korean Air among the 3. First, their attendants are very helpful to help you with your luggage. Second, they got the best asian food (i'm choosy when it comes to food). Third, they have comfortable seats and very nice tv screen in front of your seat, compared to delta and PAL which has the screen in the middle for everyone. By the way, their movies are all new and updated. Fourth, their airport is super nice. they also got a shower area so you can look freshened up before your last stop. The only down side is the long hours of layover. but it is worth it, comfort wise. PAL is okay coz its all pinoy but the seats look old and yucky but the food is good. we got tocilog on the flight. Delta is good for miles but their service is not so good. Food is terrible.

Hope this helps.

Philippinestb questions
What u were given was a TB Tine Test.. On some people they have a reaction which looks positive, but will recede ( go away some) before the reading. Years back my wife (now deceased) and I adopted a child who had many ailments including a positive TB test. At that time, it was common to go through INH Therapy. The same should still apply for today. The standard "token" of testing precedence is once you have tested positive for TB, you will "always" test positive. that is with and without the INH Therapy. Back in the states though, he was again tested years later and the results came out and still is negative. ( maybe it was the agressive treatment as a newborn??) This might not specifically answer all your question but can serve as guidance :)

no.... have them book the flights... they can pay with the financials you send them... Ive also done that
from cebu to manila :)

OK, so if I book flights for her and her father, the airlines will not ask her for my credit card? Philippine airlines did this last time.

PhilippinesMNL Case Number... Should we wait now ?
Thanks Everyone....

It was a Mis-cue on the passport thing...(suckssssss LOL) ... I think we saw a 7-10 day time window , but obviously we ( ok,, not 'we" ... but "I" ) was mistaken..

it's super good info update on the DS-230 not being required. I had mmade e note that I would have possibly needed it, and in afterthought saw my own note to myself and it must have been a stale note.

its kind of strange tho, that they dont send packages out. How else will we know otherwise? But alas,, I wont complain of rationale, but continue onward with all the """Excellent""" information I have here at my fingertips.

I thank you all very much !

ed :)

PhilippinesMNL Case Number... Should we wait now ?
Darn it.. but thank u for the good advice !!

I guess no rush to fill out the DS-230's

Ohh i miss that part, you don't have a passport yet..

Yes you need the passport because when you pay the visa fee at BPI they need to get your passport ID, because your passport ID should be in your visa fee receipt...

PhilippinesMNL Case Number... Should we wait now ?
Hi Fellow VJ'ers

Sooo ,, we feel like were in a "holding pattern" and seek some feedback on the whens's and how's to lessen the time we have to wait.

Heres our "current status"

  • Our package left NVC and is at the US Embassy in Manila
  • We have yet to get a package yet from the embassy
  • The Beneficiary K1 / K2 Philippine passports should be completed and in hand by 30 August
  • We do not "yet" have passport ID numbers to submit the package we have pre-pared
  • We have our MNL number already
  • Neither I or she has received any information on who and how to pay fees
Do we:

  • Wait until we get the package, before paying the Visa App fees?
  • Wait to schedule medical and interview's after the passports arrive
I dont know what is specifically "needed" to pay the fee's and I dont want to pay too early and have it get lost in the system

because they are scheduling already for September interviews and medicals, I'd like to be proactive, but am unsure how to properly execute this...

Any thoughts are appreciated...

ed

PhilippinesGot my MNL#!
Got our interview dates today.... A big Yayyyyy and thank You Jesus for listening to all our prayers :)

To give u an update and provide some guidance... Theres "4" of us getting the interview... You only seed to schedule (1) interview at the embassy website ( the K1), as you will see then with the final confirmation that they all are included into the one interview.

Also when going to schedule the appointment, there is "no need" to profile the chilldren under the K2 button to press, because towards the end of the K1 information, it provides another button to add dependents "smile"

I was worried wondering how i will try to get all the interviews on the same day, same time period, etc...The USEM has a system in place to ensure we dont have this burden.

:)

So I have to file separately for my two minor kids? (2 & 7 years old)

Will I be using the same MNL# for 3 of them?

So its $240 X 3 ?

Loida and EdMalePhilippines2012-09-03 23:34:00
PhilippinesGot my MNL#!
Hi

yes... 240 x 3...and again make sure the reciepts you get from BPI or wherever you pay for them are done individually. As a FYI, your AOS costs once here in the US will also triple ( tho u get some discount because of their ages). its less expensive to pay the AOS fees at one time. Also, yes,,, you use the same MNL# , DS156k for your fiance, and DS156's for the children. :) How am i sure of this you might ask? Well... I am flying my fiance along with a 15, 14 and 11 year old ...it gets expensive.. best wishes to you :)

Bunker,,,,

You left us with an open ended question here which makes it hard to give you proper advice... so:

IF your fiancee and her children are not US Citizens... you will need to have seperate reciepts from BPI for each ... It is important you have "seperate" reciepts for each.

IF this is just for your fiancee AND the children already are US citizens, then you will pay 1 fee (and that fee if for the fiancee)

PhilippinesManila No Appointments Available ? ?
can we still have the medical appointment done w/o appointment letter ?

It is no problem. It is a walk ing and no appointments necessary. However they want to see your appointment email for your interview or an offical document from the embassy that has your Manila Case number. Good thing my fiancee printed out her September 7 visa appointment email.

PhilippinesManila No Appointments Available ? ?
Hi... I think this may be because of a backlog due to the flooding... RE: ST L. I have no idea

Wow, it really is that backed up? So we're likely not to get an appointment until after October? How is getting an appointment at St.Lukes - just as bad?

PhilippinesManila No Appointments Available ? ?
:) :) means i will go back to trying :) :)

thanks... and by the way... with fiancee +3, would that be something where they need a larger "block" of time or do you think they all would go in at the same time ?

Thanks

Yea I got the same message about reaching my maximum limit but I still kept on refreshing. Persistance pays off :)

PhilippinesManila No Appointments Available ? ?
I remember reading your post, and was diong that today. then it said i was going to reach my max per day limit LOL

Also when you go online to schedule appoitment and it say none available. Keep checking every few hours and you will get an opening. I too was online and was disappointed to see none available. But I kept checking and suddenly a September 7 time slot opened. I jumped on it.

we have completed all requirments, and now want to schedule medical and interview in the embassy. The Appointment website states that no appointments are available for sep/ oct ? Our NOA2 is valid from July 6th thru Nov 5 th

I did the same as Mr Smiley recommends :) :) because were coming out of Cebu we added some buffer time for things, but it sure did feel good to see a date to click on on the calendars.. and it WILL happen for you... have faith and refresh !

Yes keep refreshing every hours. You may even see a message that says you reached the number of maximim logins or something similar - ignore it. I checked for two days and got a September 7 appointment on August 30.

PhilippinesWhich airline to choose?
a better rate than at kayak dot com and places like that ?

It's not just PAL... if you book thru a PI travel agent, you can get this first time immigrant discount.

PhilippinesWhich airline to choose?
The nice thing you have going for you is the POE of LA for convenience because its such a major hub. When our time comes, we'll focus on the shortest "air time" verses costs :)

best wishes and good luck on your journey !

Philippinesreturn to SLEC @4 weeks into sputum test
Thank you for the update. I sent you a pvt message also :) I hope for the best for you all and us too !
Thanks

Ed & Loida

Chera has a Condo close to Saint Lukes....so it easier for her to go for the treatment everyday...The treatment is easy and only takes a few minutes...She has to go to Saint Lukes everyday and take tablets in front of the nurse then you can leave, then once a month they do another Sputum and check for active TB. Xrays are every 3 months....Weekends and Holidays they send the tablets home with you...There are some side effects, Dizzy and tired but in the end it will be all worth it. Its kinda hard because she feels fine and has no effects from the TB so its like why take these stupid tablets. I am glad that she is being treated just don't like the delay. All her tests are showing negative only the culture is positive so I think she should be good to go in March. I am traveling back there for a couple weeks the first week of October and I will try and go in February for Valentines day...By then it should be almost time for her interview again...and time for her to come to the USA.:) :)

a great update...

It seems i learn more and more each day here. i didn't know that after DOT that their is an additional 2 more months to wait... Please keep us updated :) we pray all will be well for you and with good results !!!!

Regards

Ed & Loida

My Fiancee completed her DOT on September 9. Now we just have to wait another 8 weeks for the final culture test results. My Fiancee has passed all her Sputum Tests, her first Culture Test, and the doctor for her final evaluation indicated the spot in her CXR was improving. All signs are good and God willing she will pass her Medical Exam in November when the final culture results are ready. By the way, although my step-daughter passed her Medical Exam in April and got immunized, she will have to take the SLEC Medical Exam again since it expires in October. Thanks for all your support VJers. I'll update our progress when I can.

Philippinescheap tickets/animal travel
u can use kayak... i actually saved just a few $$ going to their website to access delta pricing. ANA/United seems to be best but thats a long flight. fare compare didnt do me justice this year. I would have preferred a asian carrier, but took into account time in the air and layovers, so i opted for delta. Also to consider is your POE. U can schedule your flights thru a POE thats not too busy. Seattle has 1 stop flights via chicago ( used them before) and they also have red eye flights.

Regarding animal travel, i know nothing about that :)

best of luck!!!!!
