K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsGood News Out of the CSC! NOA2 (3.5 Months...what???)

I'm delighted and a little bit shocked to say that yesterday 7/12/13 Maria and I received our NOA2 from the California Service Center!   Our first NOA was 03/28/13.  that means that we only waited a total of 115 Days.   I don't know what's going on in California, but we both feel extremely blessed for this expediency.  Now on to the next round and preparations for our interview in the Moscow Embassy.

I hope for the rest of you who are waiting, this fast time is a sign of new speed on behalf of the CSC.   I know we aren't done yet, but I haven't stopped smiling since yesterday afternoon.

Best Wishes to all of you!!!!

I think there are one or two posters here who should make their own topic. It gets really confusing. Also, it will help you more to do so.

Sutherland and Shirley& Dan2.

However to the OP, I suggest you contact your senator or representative to see if they can inquire about your denial. From what I've read on VJ, the service centers will surely let it expire, so act fast and I sincerely wish you the best!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSo much stress...

I'm sorry you're going through all this. It sounds like a pain.

You will have 90 days to marry upon entering the U.S.

If your fiancé is set on having the car after your marriage, I'm certain he can find a rental car to pick you up. And he might get a discount for being in the military. And as for furniture, if funds are tight, maybe rent to own. They charge more in the long run, but sometimes, it's the only option.

I really hope everything works out for you!

Love always wins in the end!

Keep your head up!

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2!!! December Filer

Saw you just got approved. Yay! Congrats! kicking.gif

Thankyou!!!

After all the CSC problems, we'd resigned ourselves to an extended delay, but it really looks like they're trying to get the Dec filers done by the 5 month target.  (And my slightly stalkerish monitoring of Igor's list suggests that they will - 44 CSC Dec filers left, averaging 3 approvals a day of late...)

Oh wow, that's great!  We got our NOA1 on the same day as you guys, so maybe (just maybe), we'll be next!!!

PortlandiaFemaleUnited Kingdom2013-05-10 15:35:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSo, wager a guess as to what date CSC is going to claim they are working on?

My guess is that they won't update it at all until they're back on track - it looks like they're working on everything from July - December (and even some January ones) at the moment in a frantic effort to make up for lost time - so I think they'll update it at the end of May and claim to be back to 5 months.  That way they avoid dealing with Service Requests.  If that is true, it sucks.

PortlandiaFemaleUnited Kingdom2013-05-13 16:05:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsIgors list

So, those figures on Igors list, are they from registered users on this site, or USCIS figures?

As Leon & Mylen said, it's registered Visa Journey users who bother to update their status.

BUT - I saw a post a while back from someone who had taken the time to run the stats, and something like 7% of all applicants are registered on this site (which is pretty awesome!), which means that the stats from Igor's List are going to be pretty good (probably statistically significant, given the numbers, although I'm not a statistician)  Pros - they're up to date (California Service Center hasn't updated their site since Feb 28).  Cons - Igor's List will never get to 100% - some people won't bother updating it, and some will drop out of the process (lets face it, the delays put a lot of pressure on relationships) - my assumption has been looking for a target of 85-90% to show that everyone in a month has been processed.  So in the absence of up to date USCIS figures, Igor's List provides a pretty good indication of how the service centers are doing...

Good luck - hope your NOA2 comes through quickly!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAnother milestone....Case Number assigned

Well after receiving NOA2 on 9th May, my fiance just called NVC and they were able to give him the case number YAY!!!!!!

They did tell him though that it takes 4-6 weeks usually before the papers get to London.  But that is still good news in my books.  We are still moving forward smile.png

Great news!  We got NOA2 on 10 May but my fiance hasn't got anything through in the post yet. :-(  I'm flying out to see him tomorrow so we'll be calling on Monday and hopefully we'll get our case number too. Does it really take 4-6 weeks to get to London? Wow.

Anyway, congratulations!  I will be stalking you (in the nicest possible way) all the way to Oregon as that's where I'm heading too...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDecember Filers

Hang in there guys!

I was using Igor's List as a better source of information than case numbers close to ours, and every day there are a few extra December filers being approved (we got NOA1 on 31 December and were approved on Friday).  It really looks like they're trying to get back to the 5 month deadline by the end of May, which is great news for us December filers (though I feel very sorry for the July - October filers who are seeing later petitions being approved and are still waiting).  There are 44 still awaiting NOA2, 11 of those have had an RFE, so over 2/3 of the December filers have either been approved or got an RFE, and if they keep up their current processing rate of 3 a day, all the December filers will have been processed by the end of May.  Even if you get an RFE, it looks as though they process those pretty quickly after they're returned.  (Yes, I have been spending WAY too much time on Igor's List in the last month!!!)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDecember Filers

Hi everyone!  We got NOA1 on 31 December.  At that time we were looking at the stats and feeling pretty pleased that we were California, as their processing times looked great (hah!).  It was only last week that we started checking (in the hopes that we'd get an earlier-than-5-months adjudication) and the USCIS processing times site (still hasn't been updated since Feb 28???) and reading pretty much the entire internet has left us feeling really disheartened.  Us December filers are a relatively small group, and it's so lovely to see that the early December filers have mostly got their NOA2s.  But things have slowed down, and there are still a huge number of people in front of us, and Igor's list suggests that things have almost ground to a halt in terms of processing applications (it's mostly those who had April RFEs who are now getting processed, and I haven't seen many December ones coming through in the last couple of weeks).

I'm the alien fiancee, and having lost my job just before we got engaged, I decided to go down the contracting route to give me more flexibility (and I would have felt bad taking a permanent job knowing that I'd be leaving later this year).  That's worked out really well, so I thought, on the basis of original processing times (with a bit of contingency added in - hey, I'm a project manager, what do you expect?) - I'll be going through the London embassy and their time frames are pretty consistent (3 months from NOA2 to interview), and I've got a part time contract until mid October.  But I'm now thinking that that was a bad decision - the processing rates have gone up then down and I have no idea what is happening. :-(

Is there any way we can work out / get some indication of how long it's going to take from now?  Or do we just have to sit back and wait and hope for the best?

Well your petition goes to NVC first for a stop over and case#. Check your countries forum for procedures what to do next. Some embassies you schedule your interview before medical some after. But check it out.

Call NVC now they stay open until midnight eastern time 603-334-0700.

Thanks a ton for the info. I appreciate it. I called them and they said they do not receive my packet for 3 weeks after approval. That seems so slow :( At least I got an answer

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow long does it take to get a visa after approval?

My fiance and I were approved exactly two weeks ago now. We got a letter of approval from the California Service Center but the American Embassy in South Korea said that they need to receive confirmation of our approval before we can make our interview. How long does it usually take for the embassy to get their confirmation? And how long should we accept to wait until hearing that they got their confirmation? My fiance bought his ticket to America after we were approved and now I'm realizing maybe we should have waited a little longer blush.png

Thanks a ton for any information ~~

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMedical Exam for Cuba in the American Consulate
She needs to go to the hospital, and schedule medical exams specifically exams to leave the country. She needs to specify that the exam results are to take to the interview. Her and the kids need them as well. Each exam is $400. She should do this soon because it takes about a month after the exam to get results. Once she receives results they'll give them to her in a sealed envelope, make sure she doesn't tamper or open the envelope or the embassy may take that as fraud. I think you can pay later, but I'm not sure if things have changed. I am having my fiancé pay when he goes to get them just in case. His interview is April 28, 2014. I have a question for you, have you received the appointment letter? I have not and I am not sure how important it is to have it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsQuick NOA 2 response

Hi guys!

This is my first forum update and I also have a question.

Update: WE GOT OUR NOA 2!!!! ... I think.

Question: Our receipt date was October 9, 2013 and our notice date was October 31, 2013. I feel like this is an excessively quick turn around. Our I-797 reads "The above petition has been approved and forwarded to the listed consulate." Is this indeed our NOA 2 or did I just get really excited over an NOA 1? And am I wrong in thinking this was a really quick turn around?

I received an I-797C on October 10, 2013 stating "The I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiance has been received by our office..." I hope I'm correct in thinking this is our NOA 1.

Thanks for all your support and celebration during this journey!

<3 Mary and Pieter

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportswedding advice!

We sent our application in February and just got our NOA2 this week, yay! Now I am starting to think more about the wedding and I need advice from people who know more than me. For a variety of reasons we don't want to live together until we have our religious ceremony, but I'd really love to have a summer wedding. At this point it looks like he'll be coming here in autumn so we'd have to do the civil ceremony by the end of the year towards wintertime. Is it true that they check up on you to make sure you're living together after the ceremony and everything? Should I give up on my dreams of being a summer bride?

I'm glad you let your elephant out of the closet and I'm sure he appreciates it too. What do you feed it and do you or your wife clean up after it? :D

For me personally, I have no problem with the discussion of the "age difference" but I usually don't chime in. I've been a member her since 07 and only average about .2 posts/day. As I mentioned before, what interests me more than the actual discussion is the motivation of the posters.

My wife and I talked about our motives many times before we got married. Both of us have benifited greatly over the past four years and I feel that's what marriage is all about.

PS. Jena thinks your wife probably cleans up after your elephant

PhilippinesHow did you meet your Filipino Fiance?

My wife and I met online. I'll leave it that.

The reason I'm replying to this thread is that I find it interesting. It's typical in that many times a thread in the philippines forum is dragged down the same old tired road of "age difference". I can't speak to other forums, since I mainly frequent this one.

I understand looking at a picture of a couple and thinking to oneself about the age gap. What I don't understand is creating post after post, discussing the subject ad nauseam. If you do a search about the subject you will find many examples.

I suppose people could have several motivations. Maybe they are trying to warn other young women or older men of the pitfalls of such relationships. Maybe it's just jelousy. Maybe they enjoy a spirited conversation and realize they will get many responses by bringing up the topic.

My questions are:

Why are some people so compelled to steer a thread in this direction?

Why are they so fascinated by couples with large age differences?

What do you think?

Kev

There's an elephant in the room that for whatever reasons, a lot of guys who entered the international dating scene don't feel comfortable talking about it or they've actually convinced themselves that there's nothing unique about these dating services where zillians of young Filipinas are practically throwing themselves at any foreign guy who joins the site. This thread title is how couples met and a good majority have met through a dating service, so it is inevitable that the reasons why many of the couples here are together are brought up. Online dating is a huge industry and international dating is big chunk of it.

This is an interesting chart - especially number 10, which states that a woman's online desirability peaks at age 21:

PhilippinesHow did you meet your Filipino Fiance?

I thought my question was simple and direct. Sorry. Let me rephrase. Is that you situation? Did your wife marry an older Larry King? Did she marry you in spite of your looks? Did your wife marry for your money? I'm not turning a blind eye. I was simply inquiring if you were projecting your status onto others. Are you?

There weren't any of the incentives that exist for a lot of young Filipinas to marry an older gentleman, but I think you misunderstand me pointing out the elephant in the closet that therefore I think this is a horrible thing. I do not. It is what it is. I'm 44 and my wife is 33. She never used a dating site, while I had prior to meeting her. She was a practicing dentist (6 years in the PI) and had her own clinic. There were actual disincentives for her to leave her profession and start from scratch here in the states. Would I have found a woman like that in the states? Hard to say, but I don't think it's beyond the norm. Look, there are a lot guys here who are very happy and proud of their wives which is great, but I don't think anyone is fooling themselves that for many Fil/Am couples with a large age gape and a young Filipina, there are incentives that exist that normally don't, making it possibly for older gentlemen to marry pretty, young wives even without being wealthy or a celebrity.

PhilippinesHow did you meet your Filipino Fiance?

You and your wife are a nice looking couple, but lets be honest, Paul, do you think you would have been able to find a woman of her age and beauty here in the states? For example, there are millions of Filipino-Americans living here in the states and plenty of young, beautiful Filipinas, yet the frequency of these Filipina Americans marrying much older, American men is very low compared to the ones coming from the Philippines. So it's obvious that there are incentives for middle-aged to older American men to look to the Philippines for young, pretty Filipinas.

Are you projecting?

Projecting what? Why can't we have an honest discussion about why so many older men pair up with these young, beautiful Filipinas? There are factors at play here, relevant to these discussions about how couples here met. When Larry King married is third wife who was way younger and very beautiful, no one was thinking that she married Larry for his looks, which is all good in the end since both parties are adults and are freely making the decision. But the facts are that such big age differences are rare in the states and typically only happen when the man is wealthy. It comes down to incentives. There are no real incentives that exist when all things being relatively on equal footing here in the states for a young, beautiful woman to marry a much older gentleman. We don't have to turn a blind eye to that very prominent factor with these Fil/Am courtships.

I don't follow old Hugh around but he's 85 and has done pretty well with a string of 18-21 y.o.'s over the years. Who is Donald Trump with these days? It is an endless list but in general it is acceptable for the rich and powerful to do it in America. They can even get paid handsomly to be on magazine covers or centerfolds for it. Treated like royalty. Royal priviliges.

Oh, but to see a mere commoner do it - why we can't have that! These men are not worthy, and neither are the girls. :D

Please don't take offense, I am trying to point out a general hypocrisy I see that may not be yours. You may be offended by old Hugh or the Donald et al too, but tens of millions of others sure aren't.

It's always been a bit scandalous looking on the surface, no matter who the couple is. We were at our son's first soccer practice a couple of weeks ago, and the soccer coach, who is also a dad, put his foot in his mouth when he asked one of the other dads if he was the grandfather of one of the players. He looked at least 30 years older than his younger, Asian wife.
