K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAll Quiet On the Western Front

Steven, I signed on to VJ today for the first time in like a week (a little downtime in Argentina) and I was totally expecting to see your approval. And its not being there broke my heart a little.

They're doing something though, because they at least received our RFE on Oct 4.

Anyway, good luck to you. I hope next time I get on VJ, there will be an approval on your timeline.

Thanks, Alex. :star: Hope your mouth heals soon.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWTF? Wakass RFE finally arrives

This is weird because I thought only the petitioner needed to provide a birth certificate.

Yeah! I sure as helllll did too!!!! :ranting: :ranting: :ranting:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWTF? Wakass RFE finally arrives

Ok then, I will accept that it's just the birth certificate they want. What I need to know now is, can Rey take a good scan of it, e-mail it, have me print it out and get it translated here? Wer'e going to be in Argentina next week, so a Portuguese-to-English translation might be difficult to come by...

I know my birth certificate could have been a copy. Can I send them his as a copy too?

Yes, a copy of the original and a copy of the english translation is acceptable

You're sure? Did you also get this RFE/sent in with original petition?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMy RFE - Wants more evidence

I feared adding those would have been overkill, but when I finally received my RFE, it was only for the IMBRA and then after they received it, the email confirmation stated that...

On September 28, 2006, we received your response to our request for evidence or information. However because preliminary processing was complete, the remaining processing time will be less than the maximum stated in this message. You will receive a written decision on this case.

 Umm, that's their standard receipt email. I received the same email after my first and second RFE. :)

Seriously? deep sigh...I thought for sure...aw, nevermind...somebody shoot me. :(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMy RFE - Wants more evidence
In addition to sending the usual boarding passes, atm withdrawals, hotel and restaurant receipts, I had made a copy of my passport (all pages) even though I had included a copy of my birth certificate. Also, Jinky had made copies of her driver's license, social security card and university diploma from the Philippines. I feared adding those would have been overkill, but when I finally received my RFE, it was only for the IMBRA and then after they received it, the email confirmation stated that...

I've been on pins and needles since last week thinking that the approval would be anyday now, but at least I'm pretty confident that will not be sending any additional RFE's.

When I gathered all the evidence, I just kept in my mind that I'm trying to build a case to convince a stranger that my relationship is in fact legitimate and that we've met within the last 2 years. I was confident that the evidence was overwhelming.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCSC Mail Room

btw, what was your RFE for? IMBRA form?

Yes...and that was it. Some others who received their RFE's around the same time had additional requests - beneficiary's birth certificate, more evidence of meeting in person, etc. Then on my confirmation email, it said that the processing was complete except for the RFE, so I was assuming that all they were waiting for, was the IMBRA RFE from me. Now that my file's been touched a couple of times this week without an approval, I'm wondering if it's being given a second lookover?

Thanks! We were wondering if California was just slowing down again! :o
Good luck on your NOA2...let us all know if it works fast...I just want to get out of California!!!! lol

You're welcome. Yeah, CSC seems to have slowed down to a trickle in the last couple of weeks without any rhyme or reason. I had 2 touches this week but then nothing. On top of that, several people who got their NOA2's over a month ago have said that the CSC hasn't yet mailed them off to NVC! :o It's been so disheartening. I once thought ....maybe, just maybe Jinky would be here for Christmas, but that hope has quickly faded. It's hard not to fall into despair...wondering just how much longer we have to wait. I've already braced myself for about a 4 month wait for the interview once the US Embassy receives our file....deep sigh.

If it was mailed with a signature upon receipt and USPS is showing it was delivered, then I wouldn't worry too much about the zip code being off by one number. It took close to a week after mine was sent before USCIS emailed me confirmation that they had received my RFE.

Here's some info on zip codes I found on Wikipedia... More than likely the barcode that was printed for your envelope when you first mailed is what they go by.

Postal bar code

The ZIP code is often translated into a barcode called Postnet that is printed on the mailpiece to make it easier for automated machines to sort. Unlike most barcode symbologies, Postnet uses long and short bars, not thin and thick bars.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVery, Very Few K-1 Approvals

I'm naive, so correct me if I'm not quite getting it. However, since not everyone getting a K-1 visits VJ, is it possible that there have been just as many, just not with the people on VJ? That's what I like to think, anyway.

I would guess that members here on VJ represent a fairly accurate percentage of all applicants.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurestouched for a second day in a row!

I don't think it's required, but several VJ members have been asked to submit this, hopefully you're not one of them (or me either) because it will just cause a delay.

It would be interesting to know if any of the petitioners who received an RFE requesting the beneficiaries BC included any other identity documentation. Hang on, hang on.....Maybe I need to turn the question around.

For those who did not receive an RFE for the beneficiaries BC did you include other documentation such as identity page of there passport? In my first petition, I included the identity page of my then fiancee's passport. I did get an RFE but it was not for this....

I am just thinking out loud here but does the petitioner need to prove or adjudicator need proof of the age or nationality or something like that which the BC or the identity page of the passport would provide?

Jinky had sent me copies of her driver's license, social security card and university diploma (Philippines) which I included in my original K-1 submission thinking that it would help confirm that she is who she says she is. When I received my RFE, it was only for IMBRA. However, it may be that the adjucating officer wants further evidence since according to what I've read, it is left to their discretion. IMO, the petitioner should try to send evidence of the beneficiary's identity beyond just a passport style photo and their name.

Anyone else notice this poster's fiance sure moves around a lot? First going through the Ukraine and now Mozambique.

My hunch is that the OP is probably a 14 year old with acne. Either that or a 40 year old virgin that still lives with his mother. The last time he saw a woman's genitals was during his uneventful birth.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCSC ever lose anyones RFE reply?

It's been over a week and CSC has not confirmed receipt of my RFE reply which was sent with deliverly confirmation. I made a color scan of every page of my RFE and I am wondering if I do not receive confirmation by the end of the week, if I can print a copy from my scans and resend it.

Bill

Bill, I made a color copy of mine as well but I wouldn't panic just yet. I'd give them at least 10 business...last Monday was a holiday. :)

Already, I'll have one of the longest waits for the June filers - even if my approval came today, I'm already at day 121...sigh. I'm wondering if things such as my previous divorce or the fact that Jinky has a child, slows down the approval process?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNOA1 Approved!!!! I think????

I have been so frustrated by the lack of information from CSC after they receipted my RFE on September 29th that I decided to visit my Congressmans district office yesterday and beg them to help. Just an hour ago the congressional aide called and said she contacted CSC this morning who told her our petition had been approved. She did not say when, but she was very helpful and sympathetic. She also told me that during the remaining process to call her back in a month if I have not heard from NVC and she will call them too. I checked the website and still no change to my last touch? I checked my email and no emails either? I don't know wether to shout, laugh, scream, cry or dance a jig. Feels like an anti-climax somehow, with all the wait until now and the wait ahead. Still, I'm going to call my fiance and give her the news. Dare I say YIPEEEE!!!!! :dancing:

OMG! We have just about the same timeline! I contacted my Congressman back in August because I had NOT received my IMBRA RFE and June filers were getting approved already. They helped me that, but reminded me that USCIS timeline isn't at June yet, so they really couldn't help me further. So I'm not sure what else to do but hurry up and wait....unless I hit the 6 month mark and still no approval.

Congratulations!!!! :star: :star: :star: :star: :star: Hope you'll get it confirmed by mail soon!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOMG!

I decided to call USCIS about my RFE they received over 2 weeks ago. The person on the phone, Officer Cluff said the computer shows my petition was approved on the 10th but it hasn't sent out the notification yet! She said she note it since I called to see if it doesn't send out the approval emails within the next couple of days, she will do an inquiry - something about a glitch in their notification system!

Ayeeeeeee! Should I jump for joy or wait until I have the confirmation email? :crying:

Congratulations guys!!!

I read your entry today and tried what you did - called the USCIS hotline. In our case we got the same old news that our status was not approved and that the RFE may take 60 days. Was feeling very happy for you but sorry for myself when I opened today's mail and there it was - NOA2 letter showing the notice Date of October 11. I still haven't received emails or online status change but looks like we're moving too. We are very, very happy now!!!

Good luck in the next step!!

 That is adding more validity to what the officer said - they are having some glitch with their notification system! Whooohoooo! Hurray!
