National Visa Center (Dept of State)Department of State Online Visa Status Check

For IR categories,The status is READY once a case is complete in NVC & have an interview scheduled in the US Embassy abroad. When an applicant is approved during the interview & a visa is issued, the status is ISSUED.

I'm not sure with K-1/K-2 categories if it will be the same.

Just sent out IV packet todaydancin5hr.gif Man what a relief just getting all the paper work out. How does one know that the AOS packet was approved?

You can call NVC & ask if they have reviewed your AOS packet.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Documents to be submitted with IV package
Follow the advice of all of those the responded to your thread.

1.Make photocopies of all the documents.
2.Write Name, DOB & case # on the back of photos.
3.Your own Cover Letter.

NVC emailed me (petitioner) & my parents (applicants) that the they have completed the processing of their petitions , that the case(s) have been forwarded to the US Embassy in Manila and that an interview have been scheduled for each of my parents.

The email contains also instructions to read & follow Interview Preparation Instructions from the Department of State site: www.ImmigrantVisas.state.gov. It is under the "Prepare for your Visa interview abroad." link. Your parents then will go to the US Embassy in Vietnam site & read more about the interview preparations. They have to register in www.ustraveldocs.com site.

Your parents can print out the NVC letter & present that when they go to their interview appointment.
I have re-scheduled my parents interview appointments so they are going to print out the confirmation letter from www.ustraveldocs.com/ph.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Documents to be submitted with IV package

Here is the NVC link to what they want in the IV packet. http://travel.state..../info_3195.html
Everything you have looks good except you don't need to submit the petitioner's birth certificate (that should have been submitted as proof of US citizenship with the I-130 if not using a passport or naturalization certificate). Also, make sure to write down the NVC case number, the beneficiary's name and date of birth on the back of both passport photos. I'm assuming the IV document is the barcoded coversheet from payment portal, if so, you should be set.

The CO will return the original documents at the interview, but always ask for those back anyway, some can forget to give them back or won't give them back unless asked.

The OP is petitioning for his/her father so he/she needs to include the petitioner's original/certified copy of birth certificate & marriage certificate. The link you provided above explains what documents to include for those who are applying for IR-5 (Parent of a US Citizen) visa.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMy Story My Question(s)
QUOTE (RayandJay2007 @ Nov 13 2007, 12:45 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I am 24 years old and currently reside in the Philippines. I am getting married to a 27 year old Filipina on Dec. 8th and we are planning on having her immigrate back to South Carolina, USA. My first Question simply is, Which is the fastest way to get her there?

Secondly, I suffer the side affects of a burst blood vessel in the Corpus Colosum of my brain at 14 hours old. I will be seeing someone along with my parents who I live with, about appealing a Social Security claim that was denied some time before the end of last year. I am interested to know if I receive my Social Security, can I put in for a spousal visa and subsequently a waiver that would allow her to come back with me to the states. First off to be absolutely truthful I suffer no visible impediments that can be seen or detected without me telling you. I suffer from sever sinus infections, sever migraine's, balance problems and a strong fear of heights, and I lack 20/20 vision due to an astygmatism in one eye (its really freaky when i cross my eyes only one eye crosses LOL) and last but not least I suffer from severe social anxiety and depression. As I said I am not aware if these problems stem from something chemical or otherwise although i take medication when the migraines arise (one of my arms usually go numb from my shoulder to the tip of my fingers at the initial onset) also for the sinus infections and an anti-convulsant for the electrical spikes in my brain stem from my condition and medication for the depression. I will at times by my previous experiences need someone who can take care of me. Obviously as my (future) wife I will need her for many reasons, but I am looking for any way that I can have her immigrate sooner for the purpose of taking care of me. My mother suffers from a severe auto-immune disease (Scleroderma) and cannot take care of me during the times that I become sick, so it goes without saying that I will need her to take care of me through my sickness and tough times.

I hope that anyone here can help me. If you want to get into with me via e-mail for a more personal discussion hit me up here bigblueboy74@gmail.com

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionUSEM Interview Inquieries
QUOTE (Dianne and Ryan @ Jun 2 2008, 08:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello All!

I have all my documents prepared for my upcoming interview this June 11. Also, I have each and every piece of all my original documents duplicated (xeroxed). However I am kinda wondering about the following:

1) Has anyone here personally experienced or maybe witnessed or knew other applicants whose original documents were forwarded to the interviewer/consul and were returned, or maybe not returned after? helpsmilie.gif

NSO BC, CENOMAR & NBI - will not be returned to you anymore.
I-134 (notarized), ITR (xerox), W2 ( xerox) - will not be returned
snail mails, cards, emails, pictures & other evidences - will be returned to you after the Consul's interview.

2) Those who were asked by the interviewer to show proof of financial support. Did you showed the duplicate copy or is it the original copy right away? helpsmilie.gif

I-134 notarized (original)
ITR & Wage Statements can be xerox copies - no need to show originals

3) Do I have to show right away all the original documents, or duplicates? Or should I just wait for the interview to ask about the originals, and until they dont ask, duplicate is ok as proof? helpsmilie.gif

4) I have 2 copies of DS156, 156k and 157. Where do these 2 copies go to? Does it go to the interviewer? helpsmilie.gif

The pre-screener will collect them from you before you will be interviewed by the consul.

DS-156 - 2 copies
DS-157 - 2 copies ( 1 copy fill up online ) + (1 copy hand written -validated by the bank)
DS-156K - 1 copy only

I have all my original documents (primary docs, application forms, evidence of support and its financial docs attachment, evidence of continuous relationship and engagement) placed inside the clearbook. On the other hand, all its duplicates I fastened it up in a one folder (the same way, same format, my fiance compiled the documents he sent way back to USCIS).

I was just worried that in case the interviewer get all my original documents, I will not have anything more to save or to keep for the continuous process of k1 once i get to USA. If that would be the case, I will only have the duplicates.

Many thanks. Looking forward to your usual help.

That's great! Congrats!

I have to correct what I posted before. When my mom received her visa packet, she told me that there was a written date when the visa was issued. It was issued right after their interview (so that same day May 2nd).

My parents received their visas 3 business days (May 7th) after the interview (May 2nd).

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDenied - what to do next

This happens more often in USE Manila than you all think. I have read 2 cases here in VJ & 1 case in another forum. All of the beneficiaries have interviews scheduled in USEM that they didn't attend. They all assumed that if they didn't show up for the interviews that the said  petitions/cases will be considered abandoned. The (ex fiance) petitioners didn't formally cancel the said petitions. So the beneficiaries were denied when they had their 2nd petition/visa applications (with their current fiance's). Please try to search here in VJ a case like this that happened last year.

US Citizenship General Discussionhow to acquire dual citizenship?
The information below is from this link: http://seoul.usembas...v/acs_dual.html

Korean Nationality
Laws establishing one's claim to citizenship can be complex, and differ significantly from country to country. For information on other possible claims of nationality you should direct your queries to the appropriate country's embassy or representatives. This includes instances where your American Citizen child has a Korean parent. The child may have acquired Korean nationality at birth, though the final determination would rest with the Korean authorities. Begin by contacting the Korean government's Department of Nationality of the Immigration Bureau at 02-653-0462 (Korean language only).

The Government of the Republic of Korea does not permit dual citizenship after the age of 21. American citizens of Korean descent who hold dual citizenship under South Korean law and work or study in South Korea are usually compelled by the Republic of Korea to choose one or the other nationality soon after reaching that age.

In addition, South Korean men over the age of 18, including American citizens of Korean descent, are subject to compulsory military service. A dual national may not be allowed to abandon his ROK nationality until he finishes his military service, or has received a special exemption from military service. There have been several instances in which young American men of Korean descent, who were born and lived all of their lives in the United States, arrived in the ROK for a tourist visit only to find themselves drafted into the South Korean army.

Americans of Korean descent may request further information from the nearest South Korean Embassy or Consulate before visiting Korea.

In the U.S., contact the Embassy of the Republic of Korea at 2320 Massachusetts Avenue N.W., Washington, D.C. 20008, telephone (202) 939-5660/63 or online. There are South Korean consulates in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Guam, Honolulu, Houston, Miami, New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.

It is required by law that you use your US passport.

Section 215 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1185) requires U.S. citizens to use U.S. passports when entering or leaving the United States

(b) Except as otherwise provided by the President and subject to such limitations and exceptions as the President may authorize and prescribe, it shall be unlawful for any citizen of the United States to depart from or enter, or attempt to depart from or enter, the United States unless he bears a valid United States passport.

US Citizenship General Discussioncertified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past 3 years;

I am not sure what "certified" means in this context.
I have the tax returns forms(the originals). If we make plain copies of those, would that work? Do I have to notirised the copies? If yes, it seems easier to just order a tax certificate.

I need to submit these forms for naturalization through marriage with US citizen.

I only sent the photocopies of the tax returns. There is no need to have those notarized. You can send tax transcripts versus tax returns.

US Citizenship General DiscussionNeed an advice/ideas for my N-400 issue

Hello,
I am new here and I hope to get an insight on my issue from you guys
I came to the US and obtained GC based on marriage to my US wife. I removed conditions and have my 10 GC already.
My wife was married 4 times before, one of her husbands got a GC through her, but we did not have any issues because of that at any stage.
We filled my N-400 and it was sent in August already. I found out from my wife later she was married to her first husband twice, the second time was a kind of giving him a chance to prove he changed since he was gambling with almost every penny he made. He did not really change and marriage was terminated only after 9 month.
So, all the immigration papers we filled was based on the fact she married 4 times, but when including this second marriage, she has been married 5 times before. She did not include this marriage saying it was from the same man and so breif so she did not count it as a marriage.
I contacted USCIS and was able to get an immigration officer who told me to go a head and correct it at the interview which I will do for sure.
My question is, from your experiences with different situations, is there a possibility that I will get denied or my case will be delayed as a result?
Thank you everyone.

It was an honest mistake from your part as your wife assumed that since it was with the same man. The IO will go through your application with you & you are given a chance to make any corrections or additions if there are any. You can then hand in the divorce decree to the IO.

During my interview I had to explain to the IO that I forgot to include another organization that I was a member of during my college years. She was appreciative of my honesty about it.

So I think you'll be fine & I doubt you will be denied.

Hi!!!

I am so sorry, I only saw your reply now.
Finally got my interview date: 12/21/2011. Hadrien is sad that the interview date is so far away, so I am going to try and re-schedule the date.
I don't know how easy that will be but I will give it a shot.

How did your interview go? Would love some info to calm Hadrien down. You know how those French are!! So nervous all the time.lol. I am half French as well, so I know.

Glad to hear they finally assigned your interview date! That is a bit far off, so I wish you the best of luck in rescheduling. Back in "my day" (a few months ago, haha) there were a few people from European embassies who succeeded in moving their interview dates up... I don't specifically know of any at the Paris embassy, but as you know there aren't too many French IR-1/CRI-1 filers.

I definitely understand you and your husband's nervousness, but I'll just reiterate what you probably already know about Paris... it's a cake walk in the grand scheme of embassy interviews. I'm sure you guys will be totally fine! You can read my embassy review at the bottom of my timeline page... it pretty much details my husband's whole interview experience. It was very smooth and easy, and the most stressful part was actually waiting for the visa to arrive in the mail (ours took slightly longer than average).

Anyway, best of luck and congratulations - you guys are almost done with this mess! It's nice to meet some fellow Frenchies Posted Image

Sounds like an eligibility letter...and yes! some did not receive the hard copy of the said letter when they got the same email and proceed to pay the visa fee, get their interview date and medical. It wouldn't be asked in the interview anyway. You need it tho for the medical exam:)

SLMEC was fine with the interview appointment letter and the NVC letter (containing case number) I showed them during the medical (although I brought the petition approval notice too for good measure). Best to have 2 copies of each.

P.S. The letter I quoted above was their e-mail reply to me when I followed up.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionIs this a routine response?
To the OP: The below might be the sequel to the letter you got yesterday since we seem to have the same NVC and USEM receipt dates. Sounds promising but don't count on it yet.

The 2nd paragraph seems to be an admission that the eligibility letter sent thru mail is really superfluous. No need for that white lie come interview time B-) (Their call center agents have to be better briefed though. One of them still insists that I should wait for that confounded letter.)

"We received the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)-approved visa petition (I-129F) from the State Department's National Visa Center (NVC) on April 28, 2011, and notified you in writing that you are eligible to be scheduled for a visa interview at the Embassy.

You need not wait for the hard copy of our letter and may now visit this website: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph or contact the Embassy?s Visa Information and Appointment Service at (632) 982-5555 or (632) 902-8930 to schedule a visa interview date. US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of Eligibility from Manila Embassy

Thanks Grace... So what if I do schedule online? That shouldn't be as difficult as TRYING to call in, right? Or is it hard to schedule online too? I called that U.S. number, and I'm guessing it was routed to the Philippines because the guy had the accent. Anyway, he couldn't hear most of what I was saying... So, hopefully online works better.

Hi, so long as your case number is in the system already, it should be easy, either online or by calling. (I personally prefer calling). And don't mind the under-informed call agents who insists you should have your eligibility letter first. If your number is not yet in, you would get a "case number not valid" feedback from the online scheduler.

By the way, forgot to mention that you gotta pay the visa fee first before trying to schedule.
