Ask your what DFA Regional Office did she went to when she first applied for her passport ( the one that got lost).

If it's in their Region VI, then this is the address.

PhilippinesWife lost her passport
QUOTE (martinbr @ Dec 27 2007, 12:29 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello, my wife lost her passport that she had issued to her before we were married. To be honest I don't even know if it's valid anymore. Again, very hard to communicate 7000 miles away and her english is very poor.

So now that we are married, does she just apply for a new passport or does she have to apply for a lost passport with it being amended with a new last name? I have to get one for her daughter as well in which I believe never had one issued to her. The child is 10 yrs old.

I am kind of confused to where she goes for this. Does she have to go to the US Embassy in Manila or can she go somewhere closer to where she lives. Or does she go to the one of the Philippine Government Offices locally in which she lives? Which office would this be? My wife lives with her daughter in Bacolod City which is a long way from Manila. If someone could lead me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
martinbr

2. POLICE CERTIFICATE -- i really don't understand the importance of this. Isn't NBI Clearance enough? Anyweiz... I am living in Manila for 4yrs for work, so I will get a police clearance here right? But originally, my hometown is in Subic. That is my permanent address. Should I get another police clearance there?

Only those that had worked or lived outside PI.

g. OTHER COUNTRY POLICE CERTIFICATES. Applicants aged 16 years and older must also
present police certificates from other countries where they have lived for six (6) months or more
after reaching the age of 16. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained
in any maiden names, aliases or nicknames ever used while in the country in question, including
different spellings you have used of those names. Information on how to secure police certificates

That is pretty good that it only took 1 hour to go from Lincoln to Springfield. I think the real issue is in the zip code.... looks like a number transposition.

I am not sure about Canadian ketchup since I have not been there since I was 12. But when I went to the Philippines the Snickers were different. Smaller, less peanuts, tasted different. I think they monkeyed with the peanut to caramel and nougat ratio.

Should never mess with the Snickers!!

Interestingly the U.S. version of Coke has more sodium and less sugar than the Canadian version.

Coke 355ml (12 oz)

Calories
U.S. 140
Canada 160
Sodium
U.S. 50 mg
Canada 40 mg
Sugar
U.S. 39g
Canada 42g

Wonder if that isn't true of so many things we find different here. Not only the HFCS, but the ratio of sugar and salt? Would be interesting to check out. And I'm not always convinced it's sugar so much as the different types of sugar. Think it was mentioned here that Canadian catsup is sweeter? I find the American brands sweeter. Wonder if it's the type of sugar though?

Carla rose.gif

Yes I think you are on to something. Maybe the high fructose corn syrup is sweeter than the liquid sugar. So that is why the vinegar and sugar orders are reversed on the labels. It takes more liquid sugar to equal the same sweetness level as the corn syrup, but it changes the taste ever so slightly.

I have never thought about it much, but I am an American that does it American style. Imagine that!

My mother had a hard enough time getting me not to grip the fork in my right hand like a club. I must have been 8 or so before I finally gave in to her way.

CanadaAnyone have Kaiser Permanente Insurance in the USA?
I have Kaiser and it is good and bad sometimes. I find the dental to be worse than the medical with the long waits for regular check-ups. But they have many levels of coverage depending on which plan is provided by your employer.

It definitely is cheaper then regular insurance, which is why I have it. So I choose it over the other two companies that my employer offers me. But being a man, I use it about twice a year, so it is not a big deal. Plus I have never been pregnant.

Great to hear your news, Congrats!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports25 year age difference....Older women marrying younger men

My wife is not as much younger as your husband (15 year difference), and we do *just barely* fall under the traditional formula for acceptable age differences (which I discovered somewhere is (your age / 2) + 7). But in any event, I haven't had any negative remarks (actually lots of positive ones) and my wife had one of the easiest times in the embassy that I've ever heard about. No issues from either family either.

Toma1 --- This diverges a bit from the thread but I'm just curious about that formula you quoted. First time I've heard of one. Care to elaborate?

Yes Carla! You speak such wisdom. Loving what you do is the most important thing because you have to wake up every day and face it. I am a true believer in putting my heart into everything I do and when I don't have any heart left for it, I know it's time to move on.

Thank you, Sprailenes. You just gave me the perfect words to push me to finally quit my job as a part time teller. My bosses called me in today for "teller coaching" since I have not met the sales goals for 2 quarters and they need me to "step-up" and be more aggressive in marketing. I just listened to their rambling and said yes to everything they said about me. Truth is, I've been thinking of quitting for sometime since I am not happy with my job, don't look forward to going to work every single time, or in other words, "I don't have any heart left for it". So, thank you for your words of wisdom. I think it's really time to move on . . .

CanadaEstablishing evidence of domicile and continued income
I am living in Canada on a temporary work permit, trying to reestablish domicile..my bank account, voter registration, car insurance and registration, and technically my permanent address are all in Oregon. I can have my old roommate write a letter saying that we will be staying with her (at my old house where I am still receiving my mail), but I don't think we will be able to get on the lease as there are other people living there. Would it be better to have my father in Arizona draw up a rental agreement for us to stay there? Confused as to what to do..hoping someone reads this older posting and can help..thanks a million.

CanadaTemporarily living in Canada...which address to use?
Hello! I know I have asked this before, but only got one response and still don't feel confident about what to do. Any advice is GREATLY appreciated. I am a US citizen living in Canada on a temporary work permit. I am about to send in my I-129 to bring my Canadian fiance into the US. I am still receiving my mail at my old address in the states and my former roommate will be writing a letter stating that we will be staying there when moving back to the US. There is also a possibility that I can get back onto the lease there and we can actually live there permanently. I am trying to decide which address to write on my I-129...should I write my old address as my current residence (legal?) or can I put my Canadian address and not screw myself later with the domicile requirement? I listed my current job as the one I am working here in Canada and also stated that I am living here with him temporarily. The only response I got last time was someone telling me to just write the US address on the forms and have my roommate mail them to me here. If I have to write my Canadian address, are they even able to mail the NOA1 to me here in Canada? Finally, I am 90% sure I can mail the form from Canada, but if anyoneknows anything to the contrary... I would really appreciate your input.
