K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresphotos as evidence of meeting....

Just be aware that the interviewer will be behind a glass window with a very narrow opening allowing nothing as big as a scrapbook to pass through it.

:D :D I guess it'll just be a wonderful but useless keepsake then. Worth a try.

It was also a way of coping with the 5+ months of waiting for the petition approval and now the interview, visa processing etc.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresphotos as evidence of meeting....
Forgot to add that the pull quotes should of course be supported by the actual letters, e-mails, YMs and what-have-you that the two of you wrote to each other. You can just choose those that absolutely drip with honey ^_^ and/or indicative of your plans for the future.

I've added as appendices the list of phone calls, text messages, snapshots of e-mail inbox to establish the frequency and the ongoing nature of the communication, again with the proper annotation (i.e.how many, how frequent, how long).

Actually, it has gotten so elaborately personal (I was originally planning to just do a photo album with some captions) that I'm now a bit embarrassed to show it to the interviewer :D I just hope he/she sees it for what it is. A true labor of love.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresphotos as evidence of meeting....
I made an honest-to-goodness scrapbook with all the bells and whistles. A lot of work and probably a bit excessive but was certainly fun to do (is fun to do. It will still be a work in progress till my interview day). I even plan to bring it to the States with me for us to enjoy later.

I put "chapters" corresponding to each of his visits and major events like our birthdays, Christmas and Valentine's Day exchanges. Each chapter has a heading and contains photos, related correspondences and of course all the receipts, tickets, boarding passes etc. I wrote in photo captions and other annotations needed to explain what's going on.

I even included pull quotes to highlight the most romantic phrases we ever said to each other and statements that clearly indicate our serious intention to marry.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS-156K (Non-immigrant fiance visa application form)
http://www.state.gov...ation/82063.pdf

Has anyone encountered any problem editing and printing this form?

The blanks for items 4c and d, 5, fiance name, date and place have default characters (i.e."undefined", current date) that refuse to be deleted or edited and show up in the printout. I'm not sure if it's my PDF reader which has an issue but I've tried it in three different computers with the same results.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresno packet from Mla embassy after 2 wks

Thank you for the link! I've read and printed the document :) This particular document is not included in the packet we are expecting from the embassy then? The document is only available on the website? My apologies for what may seem like a silly question, but since my man is out in the fields, and has slim to none access to an internet, I may have to scan the document instead for him. I'd like him to be a part of every step of the process, so we can rejoice dreamily when we get the chance to talk

I believe this is the same one we're supposed to get through the mail.

That's a lot of requirements that have to be accomplished so if I were you, I'd get started right away! Our lawyer actually sent it to us right after NOA1 so we can have a head start working on some of them.

Item K alone is a project unto itself. I decided that a good way to go about it is to make a chronological scrapbook so that every evidence you put there (photos, letters, receipts) contributes to a nice narrative flow of the relationship. It's fun to do and also a nice keepsake for the both of you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHepatitis B - reason for VISA denial?

hiv has been removed from the list

I'll find this rather surprising in the context of the Philippines. I recently wrote a story about PH being one of the seven countries with increasing HIV cases, among the 63 countries submitting data to the UN watchdog for HIV-AIDS. The rest either have stable or decreasing infection rates.

QUOTE (Kwagga @ Sep 3 2009, 05:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
QUOTE (Kurt y Dora @ Sep 3 2009, 04:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It is a pity that all of us here (on both sides of the various borders) have to endure such long timelines to be able to get the chance to be together on a daily basis. I think that for many of us, especially those of us who have been through marrriage and divorce and DEFINITELY those men (and a few women) who lost their a$$es in divorce settlements, the 90 day period between arrival and the "deadline" is really the final test. Sure, we are all committed to getting engaged and married, but the 90 days is a final test. Having been involved in many long distance relationships, you can never be certain how your relationship is going to be on a day in, day out basis. If you and your fiance had actually spent much time in a "normal" dating situation, you might have found out you were not right for each other much sooner and certainly wouldn't have had to endure the USCIS torture test. Be glad that your fiance' had the fortitude to be able to make the tough decision to stop what he felt was not the right thing for him. In the long run it will be less painful for you. But do not lose hope that the right person is out there for you.

Good luck healing and then finding the right one for you.

Just a correction to your statement above: I was the one that made the "tough decision" to return home, to make things easier for him. We are both still very much in love with each other and want to be together, bearing in mind we've known each other for over 10 years and have spent "normal" dating time together, but due to medical reasons, like panic and anxiety attacks when he realized the 90 days were counting down, it made life very difficult for both of us, so it was either me coming home or the risk of being deported.

sorry, but it doesn;t make sense to me at all

Hi Everyone,
This is for anyone who received packet 3 and/or packet 4 for K1 VISA: Do you still have the instructions pages (checklist) received with the forms?
I would like to read them ahead of time, and help my fiancee to gather and prepare the required paperwork for the interview. If your fiance(e) is from Romania that is even better.
Please let me know.
Thank you,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFull addresses required for g-325a?
I tried to fit as much as possible of the name and address for my employers... I even used initials to make name shorter. My application had been successfully processed. Keep the address as simple as possible (Street and #, City, Zip). I know there are some countries where it is longer but.. again, try to keep it as simple as possible. You can call 1-800-375-5283 if you are in the US to ask this question to an authorized person and then post something here for everyone who may bump into the same problem. I had a problem with my fiancee residence address which is really long, but I kept it at the same shortness "Street and #, City, Zip" as I stated above. It was no problem with that either.
Good luck and post the results.
Thanks.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSilly Question
Hi,
Now that we know more about your sittuation, here is my personal advice:
If your boyfriend from US Airforce want to marry you, then he needs to file a pettition for you (I-129F) with the USCIS office to get you a K-1 fiancee VISA. Once you'll get your foot on US soil, you have 90 days to marry your fiancee, or you'll have to go back to your country.
If there are no marriage intentions at this time, you can try to visit him on a tourist visa, and he can help you to get that by sending you a I-134 Affidavit of support.
I hope this helps a little.
Good luck!
Vik

Thank you all for messages. I will try better to help you know more about me. I really think that is good picture of China. Did you take picture yourself? I also really like those flags everyone has. They are cool. I want to get one someday but I not sure they have one for my country. It is little country in coast of middle west africa.

My b/f lives in USA in state of North Dakota. I think that is near Canada. He is in air force military. I want to marry him so badly and cannot stand to be apart.

No. It is not required, and it won't help. You will need to give one to your fiancee to have it at the interview.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFaxed G-325A and e-mailed photo - is it OK?
 NO  .. don't do that. :protest:
Don't try a shortcut unless someone else on the SAME situation like yours (Russia) had that checked before and it was ok. Many times you try to save time upfront, and you lose a lot more afterwords... So, wait to receive original G-325A signed in original by your fiancee on all 4 copies, and those 2 photos with the name printed lightly with a pencil on the back of each picture.
You will need to learn to wait and respect the standard steps because otherwise you may bump into more time consuming sittuation. Read the guides, it will help you manage the process in the most succesful way.
Good luck!

Hi!

I am new on this forum, and I am about to start K1 process. At this time I am accembling all paperwork, and I was wondering if it is OK to submit a faxed form G-325A and digitally printed photo of my fiance. It takes over a week to get express-mail from Russia, and I rather have my fiance fax me G-325A and e-mail her photo, so I can submit the whole package earlier.

Thank you,

Hi,
I understand that She is in the US. Well, for $20 or $25 plus rush order fees she may have a certified duplicate Birth Certificate in 3 business days if neccessary.
Did you guys thought about that? I don't understand whay they still have her original Birth certificate, because when I applied for passport all my originals came back with the passport in the mail, and they only kept copies.
Good luck,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPease help me!! Need to file yesterday!
Thanks! That is really helpful. It seems that with either K1 or CR-1 + K3, the time it would take for us to get back to the US would be the same, with the CR-1 being cheaper. However, what happens if we enter the US and the CR-1 hasn't gone through yet..would he have to pay $1000 to get adjustment of status? That is the part I am confused about now. If the CR-1 is more complicated and could end up costing us more than the K1 in the long run, maybe it would be better to just do K1, be able to move a couple months sooner, and be able to have the Hawaiian wedding we planned on having.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPease help me!! Need to file yesterday!
I have been reading the guides like crazy for months and am still confused as hell. I am working in Canada on a work permit and have been here for 5 months. I have paid all my taxes in the US, have bills from my former address in the US in my name and a letter from my roommate living there saying that we will be staying there, a bank account, license, car insurance and registration, etc. According to the link posted about domicile, I can easily meet that requirement while staying here for at least a few more months, more if I get the second work permit approved that is being processed. SO why would I NEED to move back the US when I could keep working here and still prove US domicile? One person is telling me that I need to have a permanent address in the states (Portland, Oregon, currently in Vancouver, BC), but this domicile discussion guide is telling me that even people who were US citizens and had never even been in the states were able to establish US domicile. Which is it?? Basically I am trying to decide whether to file for K1 or for CR-1 with the K3 I-129 option. Is one process more strict about domicile than the other? We could get married now in Canada and then file for CR-1 and the I-129 K3 option and it sounds like we could enter the US in the same amount of time either way, except with CR-1 it would cost less and he could work when it goes through. I know I don't meet the financial requirements but I have several co sponsors available to fill out the form as well. I REALLY appreciate all of your help. I apologize for my confusion..it seems like no matter how much I read, one little question comes up and everything I thought I knew is just shattered.

What if we just went down to the US, got married and then came back up here to wait? Would that be a better option? Now I am very confused about whether to do K1 or to get married and apply the other way. We spoke to a lawyer who made it seem like this process was no big deal but now I am realized that it is a really big complicated deal!

I thought that domicile was only an issue with the visas for married couples. I haven't seen any info about needing to have domicile in order for my fiancee to enter the US on K1.

Thanks everyone for your help! I am still confused about why I will have a domicile issue...I am living in Canada legally for at least 2 more months, then will either get a new permit or stay as a visitor for 8 months. Also, what did you mean when you said that I CANNOT stay in Canada (canadian wife)? I am here legally on a work permit and immigration told me if the new permit gets denied I can just go back to the US for a day and then enter Canada as a visitor for 6 months. I was under the impression that I could wait here while the K1 is being processed. THANKS!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPease help me!! Need to file yesterday!
Oh my god. What is this about an interview in Montreal? We are living in Vancouver. I read about the direct filing and I am not a Canadian resident, so this would not work out. I guess we could wait 90 days after entering the US for my fiance to begin working, since he is saving up money now so that we have some safety cushion. My other question is about the 134 financial support form. I am working in Canada now so obviously I don't have a job in the US and it will likely take me a while to find one. Could I have a family member fill out this form for him? I was about to mail in my form to start K1 but now I am feeling completely shattered. The most important thing for us is to not be seperated and to move back to the US as soon as possible. It sounds like if the K1 takes 5-6 months and then we can go to the US together, this would be better than waiting for 10 months while living apart. This is so ridiculous! I live a couple hours south from here! I really appreciate the help! Also, wouldn't our case be helped since we are living here together and have been for the past 6 months? Obviously it isn't a scam relationship. Would this mean that we wouldn't have to do this interview in Montreal? Wow I am as confused as ever.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPease help me!! Need to file yesterday!
Hello! I am so so confused and could really use some help before I send in my K1 form. My fiance is a Canadian citizen and I am a US citizen. We met in the US and fell in love and I moved up here to Canada 6 months ago on a non-renewable work permit. I am currently working and have a new work permit being processed right now. Chances are that the labour market opinion will come back negative because of the recession and I will need to go down to the US and then come back up here as a visitor. My fiance has a contract to work here until June and we are both dying to move down to the States as soon as possible after June 1st. We decided that K1 is probably the best way to go because we need to stay here and save up money for our move until summer. Obviously we are trying to find the cheapest, fastest way for my fiance to enter the US and be able to work ASAP. Is K1 the best way to go? It seems to make the most sense since we would like to get married sometime this summer and we are stuck up here until at least June trying to save up money. Some people are telling me that K1 takes 4-6 months, other sources are saying 8 months. I do not want to stay here until September and I don't want to go back home without my fiance! What is the best option for us?? Would the K1 process be quicker for us since we are in Canada and not overseas? Would it be better to marry now in Canada or in the US? Please help us!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffadavit of Support
Hello! We have our interview at the Vancouver, BC consulate in a few weeks. I am sponsoring my fiance to come to the US but have been living here in Canada for almost a year. I am about to move back to the US, a few weeks before he goes to the interview. I have no income because I will be just arriving in the States. My fiance does not have a job lined up in the US but has savings that will support us for several months after we move. I have a cosponsor (my parents) and am curious if the number of people that their income needs to support includes myself (since I am not working). Would the household size be 3 (my fiance, my mom, my stepdad), or 4 (myself, my fiance, my mom, my stepdad)? I am confused...my mom is just barely over the 125% for 3 people...really hoping I am not included in this! Anyone have any advice for the interview?
