PhilippinesCan We Make Our Own Embassy Appointment to Save Time?

Its really interesting this Visa Journey process.  The US Traveldocs site allows me to create a profile for my SPOUSE.  They ask if we are K-1 or CR-1. I select CR-1. No where on the site does it ask me for the missed appointment date or previously scheduled appointment date. Now, of course maybe common sense does not always work but why does the US goverenment allow me to create a profile and set an appointment date and time if they really don't allow this? I am so confused. Again this process does not make sense.

I understand what your saying. Even though my parents IR-5 interview was scheduled by NVC, in the ustraveldocs site there was no record of them even having that schedule. It's like the profile I created there couldn't be connected with that of what NVC & the USEM had scheduled. The profile is solely all about what information we put there.

If it's IR (Immigrant Visa) you can only use the ustraveldocs site if you have to RESCHEDULE an interview in an event that you can't make it to the interview appointment date that NVC had set up.

PhilippinesMedical to interview

The timing is crucial as to when you will have your period. They won't let you have the physical examination if you have your period. You will be told to come back after a week when your period is over. So bear that in mind.

PhilippinesAOS Application / Changing Her Name

Then, I guess I really have no choice but to keep it. laughing.gif Was worth a shot asking though.

And yes, the legal name change here is a long process. Grar at Spaniards.

Ok, then just to be clear:

When getting and/or applying for SSN/EAD/AP/AOS, I would use this format?

First Name: Maria Erika

Middle Name: Reyes

Last Name: Smith

No issues with having a two-part first name, right?

You won't have any issues whatsoever with having two first names. I have two first names  & I've used them in all my paper works.

I am now using my father's surname ( my former maiden name) as my middle name therefore dropping my mom's maiden name ( my former middle name). Overall, didn't encounter any issues with  US govt agencies etc.

Thank you let it be and jlmp sa reply. Actually may false checklist ako from way back when they reviewed my AOS DOCS and one form says barcode sheets with ATTN:DR with my Mom's MNL#, would this is be OK to send out along with my missing document?

No, that checklist was meant for the AOS packet.

Follow the instruction. Nung ako, pagkatapos ko sinend ang civil documents, tumawag ako sa NVC to know if case complete na ako. Ang sabi may kulang pa daw na local police certificate. Hinintay ko ung email nila then i printed out the cover sheet at un ang pinadala ko sa NVC.

I did follow instructions! Didn't you read the part where I wrote that I waited for the email from NVC & printed off the cover sheet from the attachment?

I was merely stating the fact that "OTHER members" however didn't wait for the email & it still worked! Their cases were complete afterwards.

Now it's up to the OP what she wants to do!

Others did not wait for the checklist email from NVC & just used the bar-code cover sheet printed off from the payment portal. It was fine doing so.

But in my case, I waited  for the checklist email to ease my anxiety. I wanted to print out the bar code cover sheet from that  email. It is ATTN: DR

PhilippinesSending Documents to the Philippines

Just an update. I went to LBC today to try to send docs and at this point in time they do not have that service. They said that they are scheduled to re-instate air service the end of May but that I should call first to confirm. So right now they only do sea shipping. I don't know whether this is just the Portland branch or LBC USA in general.

I didn't know that.  My recent transactions were money remittances thru the Tambayan LBC agent. The last two balikbayan boxes transactions were by pick up since we didn't want to drive all the way to their new location close to the airport.

PhilippinesSending Documents to the Philippines

I have sent docs and even a Xmas present via USPS with no problems. However when my fiance sent docs to me she used LBC and I was shocked to receive them in my mailbox in 3 days! So it's good to know that LBC is here in Portland, where I also reside.

Yes, it only takes 3 days for the parcels to be delivered.  DHL delivers it to the home address.

The one here in Portland is at:

#13509 NE Whitaker Way Portland Or, 97230
Services : REMITTANCE/CARGO

We send money & go to an agent in Tambayan Restaurant. They only do remittance service.

6014 SE Foster Rd., Portland, OR 97206
Services : REMITTANCE

You were lucky that the docs arrived in a timely manner. I've had good experience with PhilPost myself in my home town.  All of my then-fiance's letters/cards & packages arrived without any problems. When he discovered that there is LBC here in Portland, he then switched to sending packages through them.  I'm quite surprised you didn't use LBC to send those documents since you have had good experience with sending balikbayan boxes. .

Philippinesneed URGENT advise re: St. Lukes appointment letter

My parents were asked the same thing. The appointment confirmation(s) my parents printed off from ustraveldocs didn't have the case numbers only their names. SLEC wants to see both the MNL case number & name of the applicant. It doesn't have to be the interview letter but just an email from NVC. But they were allowed to start day 1 of the medical &  to just bring the NVC letter later that day or the next day. Which they did within that day. A bit of a hassle but it turned out just fine.

PhilippinesPre Departure Orientation Seminar

I'd suggest you go to CFO the day before your flight. You are going to be really exhausted at the end of that day. Having to get up early so you can be there at the crack of dawn to make it for the limited number of slots & the seminar taking up the whole morning or afternoon. Then another long line for the registration. It doesn't matter if your flight is later at night. Get a good night sleep & relax prior to your flight.

PhilippinesACR-I

You can avail of the Balikbayan 1 yr visa free stay  upon entering the Philippines with your Filipina wife. Just show your marriage certificate & they will stamp the BB on your passport.

http://www.philippin...-free-stay.html

Balikbayans ? any overseas Filipino returning to the Philippines, including former Filipinos who have acquired foreign citizenship ? can stay in the Philippines without a visa for a period of one year. The balikbayan visa-free stay privilege is extended to the balikbayan?s non-Filipino spouse and children, provided they enter the Philippines with the balikbayan.

Former Filipino balikbayans traveling to the Philippines are advised to bring either their old Philippine passport or copy of Philippine birth certificate as proof of their former Philippine citizenship. Accompanying family members of the balikbayan can bring appropriate supporting documents:

  • For the spouse: copy of marriage certificate
  • For each child: copy of birth certificate
  • For adopted children: copy of adoption papers

Philippine Law (R.A. 9174) provides benefits to baikbayans:

  • Tax-exempt maximum purchases in the amount of USD 1,500, or the equivalent in Philippine and other currency, at Philippine Government?operated duty free shops
  • Exemption from Travel Tax, provided that their stay in the Philippines is one year or less. If their stay in the Philippines exceeds one year, Travel tax will apply to them.

During my parents medical last month, SLEC told them to submit a NVC letter the next day.. I think it wouldn't have mattered if they submitted it the next day or not because they are already done with the 1st day of the medical. But my parents sure didn't wanna take the chance. lol

Recently, SLEC have been asking for the NVC letter that has the applicant's MNL case number.& name. One can still proceed with the 1st day of medical & will just have to bring the letter the next day.

PhilippinesIs it possible

I would recommend that your fiancee have a relative or friend accompany her & her child when they have their medical exam. The guards in SLEC will allow a companion in because she has a child with her.

For CFO, there are limited number of slots for the seminar, that entails getting up early & being there at the crack of dawn. I doubt CFO will allow the child to sit in during the seminar, as we all know they get easily bored or will be too hyper to stay quiet.

I agree with the others, do the medical & CFO in one trip which will be  a week before the interview.  The 2nd trip will be the interview. Third trip to get the CFO stickers preferably a day before their flight.

This scenario is realistic considering there is a minor child.

I just logged back in my father's/mother's account(s) that I signed up on their behalf.  Their interview appointment can only be seen now in appointment history. In order to see available appointments, I had to click on "schedule appointment" & go through all the options to get to the calendar part.

I think one can only technically register if NVC has finally set an interview schedule. I'm not really sure.

PhilippinesCASE COMPLETE-HOW MUCH LONGER MUST WE WAIT?

Sorry to hear about that. Sounds like a unstable situation.

Once you have an interview schedule, you can register in ustravel.docs site & logged in there everyday to see available interview slots. You can then re-schedule your wife's appointment to an earlier one. I had to re-schedule my parents appointment to a later month so I know this can be done.

I was just checking the site & there are 13 available days. Maybe, others had to cancel theirs or the one who posted about June being fully booked was of different category (K-1).

Relax, you're almost there. You are more likely going to received the email from NVC about your interview appointment two weeks after Case Complete. I've read here that the June interview slots are pretty much booked. So you are looking at probably July or August appointment.

http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3238.html

Immigrant Visa Appointment

All case processing for Manila, including appointment scheduling for immigrant visa cases, is generally done at the National Visa Center (NVC) in the U.S. An applicant?s case number does not determine his or her position in the scheduling queue. Once a case is current (i.e., priority date is current for processing), and is ?documentarily qualified?(i.e., all the necessary, completed documents are received at the NVC) , the waiting time for an appointment date is approximately one (1) to three (3) months.

As soon as an appointment date becomes available, NVC will forward the case to Embassy Manila. NVC will also send the petitioner and/or the authorized agent/representative an appointment letter.

I think what the OP is trying to say is that his wife's maiden name is also reflected on her green card (aside from her married name)?

Opps. I just re-read the OP's title. His wife' green card  has her maiden name. They can correct this when they finally file for removal of conditions. First file for report of marriage to the philippine consulate so she can change the name on her phil passport to her married name.  Good luck OP.
