PhilippinesWhat to bring???

hello again vj members,

can anyone give me a link, on what to documents to bring at the interview. I am looking for it but i cannot find it.
thanks a lot.

M

Is this a citizenship interview? I noticed that your timeline shows that your ROC was approved last 2010. I'm assuming that your asking about what documents to bring for your citizenship interview. If so, bring all the original documents (like BC, MC) and supporting documents that you submitted with your N-400 application.

Ah, "DCF"... lol VJ's gobbledygook can be confounding. lol

I guess that might be different then. I forget that some people don't live with their spouses. And in in different countries than them. I don't see how that works...

I also see that her children are filing for her, not a spouse. My mistake.

PhilippinesGetting NBI Clearance while outside the Philippines

That is not a link to the Manila site. It's at the end of the NVC stage. The last day you will ever deal with the Embassy.

You'll be doing this in NOX-2. But when you go to NOX-2, you basically turn in your few sheets of paper, sit, do biometrics, sit, swear-in, and go home! Then your passport with visa comes in a few days.

So yeah, you turn those forms in during the last couple hours of the process.

As far as I know, NVC will not schedule an interview unless those civil documents are sent to them. Case not complete, no interview schedule. The OP is not filing DCF.

I guess I have to check with my nearest consulate if they do this. If not, I will have to wait til I go to Tokyo next month.

Can you please tell me how long an NBI clearance is valid? And also, if I get it this early (Feb/March), will that be too early for an intended Sept/Oct interview with the consulate in Japan? :)

Call the Philippine Consulate there in Japan. Ask them about how to go about getting your fingerprints taken there. They can answer all your questions. Posted Image

Wow. An online NBI clearance that actually requires you to still be in the country. That is just so inconvenient. I wish the Philippine government dealt with paperwork online :(

When is it exactly needed? Sorry, I'm such a newbie. :( before NOA2?

After NOA2. The approved petition will be forwarded to National Visa Center.

PhilippinesGetting NBI Clearance while outside the Philippines

No online for NBI. They need to take a photo of you. What you can do is get an NBI clearance when you arrive in August. You might get lucky if the Embassy will not ask for a newer one. But if you have time a few days before the interview, get a new NBI clearance.

Go to Robinsons Otis in UN Ave. (near Unilever). There's not a lot of people there.

For spousal visa application her NBI clearance is needed during the NVC stage. Posted Image

I personally have not used any other shipping company except LBC & they have been a reliable one. Unfortunately, they don't have branches in all the states. I have heard that there are independent agents that have a flexible pick up option for those customers who will pool together their lbc boxes upto 8 or more if they were from a neighboring state that doesn't have a branch.

I agree with them that you can have your mom or dad get it from the NSO & mail (LBC/DHL/FED-EX) it to you. It's a better idea to have them send you 2 or 3 copies. A lot cheaper compared to ordering online. Your family can mail it within a week. Posted Image

PhilippinesMiddle name
Hubby & I discussed this when I was pregnant with our first child. I also wanted to go for the Filipino tradition in naming our baby. Hubby's reasoning in not going for it was that, since the baby will be born here in the US, might as will go for the American tradition. So, with our second baby, there was no question which tradition to follow.

Although, my boys Philippine passports shows my middle name as their middle name. This was clearly explained to us by the consulate that they are following the Filipino tradition.

Within this year, we are planning to get them US passports. Obviously, the names my boys are going to use is the same as what is on their US birth certificates.
So, in the end, hubby & I got what we both wanted.:dance:

PhilippinesUNUSUAL PROBLEM - HELP
I copied & posted the information below from the NSO site. This is the same link that I posted in my previous post to the OP.

http://nso.citizense...cate-correction

NSO Certificate Correction Of Entry

TEN steps to be undertaken in the correction o an entry in a civil registry document

  • Contact a lawyer who will prepare the Petition for Correction of Entry.
  • Lawyers shall file the Petition in the Regional Trial Court. The fee for filing the Petition in the Regional Trial Court is Php 160.00.
  • The Petition will be raffled and assigned to a branch of the Regional Trial Court.
  • The assigned Regional Trial Court shall issue an Order for the publication of its Order in a newspaper of general circulation for three consecutive weeks. Fee for publication varies.
  • The Order contains the date of the first hearing.
  • During the first hearing, the lawyer will present compliance of the jurisdictional requirements like publication of the Order in a newspaper of general circulation.
  • After establishing compliance with jurisdictional requirements, the petitioner will be presented in Court to testify. The Court may assign the Clerk of Court to receive evidence.
  • During the hearing, i is possible that an oppositor may appear contesting the Petition. If no oppositor appears, the Clerk of Court will receive the petitioner's evidence.
  • After presentation of evidence, the Court will rule on the Petition.
  • If the decision is favorable, the Court will order the Office of Civil Registrar to correct the entry in the civil registry document (birth/marriage/death certificate of the petitioner).

Someone answer me this one..... WHo is to say you couldn't take a quick shopping trip to Hong Kong for 5 days before leaving for the U.S... No CFO sticker required!!!!! The PI immigration can't stop you from going to Hong Kong of Bangkok... Then leave on your U.S. Journey...

You're right, one won't need the CFO sticker to go to Hongkong. But won't PI immigration asks for R/T tickets?
They will see the US visa & will assume that the person is going to USA eventually after the supposedly shopping spree in HK.:unsure:

PhilippinesIs it really need to attend CFO seminars?

Ok. To make the long story short, here's my question: Is it really need to attend the CFO seminar? When is the best date to go, after the visa interview or before the interview? I am planning to go medical this last week of the month (what would be the best day for this?)Just curious, that is why I am asking this kind of query. I already read some thread regarding this matter, I already have birth cert, marriage cert, ID's, passport, and what else do I need to bring aside from that? Payment maybe. How about pictures? PLease share :)

Thanks in advance.

I agree with plus 0212 about attending the seminar after you already have your visa. But during my time, I attended it the day before my embassy interview since I didn't have anything to do that day & I was too hyped up (for my interview the next day) to just sit around in my hotel room. I brought all my documents, evidence, and pictures. Make sure you have multiple photocopies of your pertinent papers like Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, NBI, divorce papers (if any), and ID's. I went back to get the CFO sticker after I got my visa.

The schedule of Guidance & Counselling Sessions in Metro Manila

Destination Country

United States of America Monday to Friday 10:00 am, 1:30 pm, 3:30pm

If you plan on attending the morning session/seminar, be sure to arrive before 10 am. I was there 7:30 am and was the 2nd person in line already.

"Fiancee, Spouses and Other Partners of Foreign Nationals
What you need to know...

As Filipinos going abroad as fiancé(e)s, spouses or other partners of foreign nationals, you are required to attend the CFO's guidance and counseling session in order to secure the Guidance and Counseling Certificate (GCC) and the CFO sticker. You need this certificate to renew or apply for a new passport at the Department of Foreign Affairs (per Department of Foreign Affairs Order Nos. 11-97 Implementing Rules and Regulations for Republic Act 8239, "Philippine Passport Act" and 28-94). You will also need to present this certificate together with your spouse/partner visa, at the Immigration office at the international airport on your day of departure.

To attend the seminar, you may proceed to either two of CFO's service providers: the St. Mary Euphrasia Foundation-Center for Overseas Workers (SMEF-COW) or the People's Reform Initiative for Social Mobilization, Inc. (PRISM).

You will have to bring with you the required documents to be accommodated in the counseling seminar. The counseling session runs for a minimum of two hours and is meant to provide you with adequate information regarding inter-marriage and migration, the cultural and social realities abroad as well as available support networks for women in distress, among others.

After you comply with all the requirements and finish the counseling session, you will be given the Certificate of Attendance by SMEF-COW or PRISM which you will have to bring along with other pertinent documents, to the CFO, for registration. Once you already have your valid passport and spouse/partner visa, then you have to register with the CFO. You will then be issued the GCC as well as the CFO Sticker.

Important Notes:

  • The CFO and SMEF-COW have offices in Metro Manila and Metro Cebu. PRISM is in Metro Manila only. Visit the offices where it is most convenient.
  • Please check the schedule of the counseling session before proceeding to SMEF-COW or PRISM because it is country-specific and the slots are only limited. It is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
  • You may avail of the Guidance and Counseling Session even while you are still processing or waiting for your visa. If such is the case, you will only be issued the GCC. Once your visa is released, you will return to CFO to continue with your registration. The CFO sticker will then be affixed on your passport.
You will pay a fee totaling PhP 650.00. The PhP 250.00 is paid as counseling fee at SMEF-COW or PRISM while the PhP 400.00 is for registration at the CFO."

"Requirements for Registration

  • Original and photocopy of Passport;
  • Original and photocopy of visa;
  • Original and photocopy of Immigrant Data Summary for US bound/ Confirmation of Permanent Residence for Canada bound/ Certification of Eligibility (for Japan-bound);
  • Original CFO guidance and counseling certificate;
  • Duly completed emigrant registration form; and
  • Payment of the authorized registration fee."
Requirements for Attendance to Guidance and Counseling Program

  • Two (2) valid identification cards (IDs) with photograph;
  • Duly completed guidance and counseling form;
  • If married, certified true copy and photocopy of marriage contract on security paper from the National Statistics Office, or Local Civil Registry Offices; or original and photocopy of marriage contract duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/ Consulate (if married abroad)
  • Other documents as may be required by the counselors; and
  • Payment of P250.00 counseling fee.

I am a american citizen, im now 19 but when i was 18 i met a girl online and dated her for 10 months b4 flying to the Philippines to marry her, which i did. While i was there i got her pregnant. A month later i flew back to the states to start filing my petition, which i have already done. here is all my questions, please please answer them if you can.

5.My wife dosent have her passport yet, she has everythign ready but she must attend a seminar in manila b4 they will give her one, will this be a problem at the interview?

Yes, she will have to attend the CFO Guidance & Counseling Seminar. DFA won't issue her a Phil passport unless she can present the G & C certificate (GCC) from CFO.
The fee is only PHP 250.00

She needs the following for her CFO seminar:
1. Two (2) valid ID's
2. Certified true copy of your marriage certificate from NSO & a photocopy of it
3. As for "Other documents as may be required by the counselors" : Base from my experience, they wanted to see my NBI & birth certificate.

Have your wife photocopy all of these documents before she heads to SMEF-COW or PRISM for she will be required to submit these copies.
