US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of Eligibility from Manila Embassy

Thanks Grace... So what if I do schedule online? That shouldn't be as difficult as TRYING to call in, right? Or is it hard to schedule online too? I called that U.S. number, and I'm guessing it was routed to the Philippines because the guy had the accent. Anyway, he couldn't hear most of what I was saying... So, hopefully online works better.

Hi, so long as your case number is in the system already, it should be easy, either online or by calling. (I personally prefer calling). And don't mind the under-informed call agents who insists you should have your eligibility letter first. If your number is not yet in, you would get a "case number not valid" feedback from the online scheduler.

By the way, forgot to mention that you gotta pay the visa fee first before trying to schedule.

You don't have to wait for the letter of eligibility to schedule an appointment.

If you have your NVC case number already, you can try scheduling an interview appointment online or by phone. The operative word here is "try" because you would have to make several attempts before getting through. It depends on when your case number is already in the US embassy system. You may want to include interview scheduling among your daily routines for a week or two :hehe: That's how long it may take.

Once you are able to schedule an appointment, either through online or by phone, you can then download the appointment letter which you should bring with you during the interview.

From my personal experience, calling the US number seems to produce a faster result. But it could have just been a coincidence.

[/quote

Congratulations! My interview was on April 4, 2008, and I was also given the white slip of paper with note - document verification. They also checked "wait till you hear from us". I called Delbros today after reading a lot of advice from this forum, and the guy said they will forward TODAY my docs to NSO and I will have to call him tomorrow to confirm (make sure) that my papers were actually forawrded to NSO for verification.

I then called the US embassy, and the guy told me (impatiently) that their computer system says our case is "under review", and he said to call again after 8 weeks. 8 long weeks??!!! I kept asking him if under review specifically means document verification only or could it mean any other problems, and he said rathr impatiently that their computer says it's just under review.

My question is - will it really take 8 weeks since I dont lack any documents?

Oh well, I hope I also get my visa in time and it's just document verification that's lacking. Anyway, I asked the consul if I was approved during the inreview and she said that she doesnt see any reason why I won;t be, since all the papers are in order, and they just have to do some document verification. . .

Congratulations to all who got their visas already and I pray for those who are waiting for theirs

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionattorney and packet 3
Hi,
Most of the people here are driving this process by themselves, if there are no special conditions that requires legal advice.
I've heard from many people here at VJ that heaving a lawyer involved just complicated a case otherwise simple. And it cost money also.
You may run a search on this forum to read what other people with lawyers wrote.
So... I have no advice, just a thought.
Good luck!
Vik

hello all

today my attorney got the packet 3 in California and send application to my fiance in Armenia to sign and than return to California and than attorney will mail all to embassy in Armenia to get the packet 4 .

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket3/Employment query
Wow, this is exactly what I am trying to figure out. I am about to send in my I-129 and struggling to find a cosponsor. How soon after I mail in the I-129 will I need to have the I-134's? Also, my mom did not make enough to cosponsor in 2009 but she thinks she will in 2010. If she has already filed for 2010 by the time they ask, does that mean that I still have to use 2009? Man would that blow! Thanks in advance for your assistance..I sure need it!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMedical Question - UK/England
You would need your case number issued after your NOA2 in order to even book the medical exam. While you're waiting for your NOA2, I would suggest applying for the Police Certificate (it's good for 12 months) and gathering vaccination records since you will need both for the medical.

Come hang out in the UK Regional Forum, you'll probably find a lot of your answers there. I certainly did.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAnkara Embassy interviews

I just recieved my interview date for Nov 7, my case was complete Sep 2, so about a month for an interview date. The CEAC website still says my file is at the NVC, I will update once it has been sent. I hope this encourages you, but I am also still worried if the shutdown could further effect my case :( I read on forums that they normally schedule interviews the first week of every month.

Okay my VJ friends, Can a Visa be picked up instead of mailed? Since my lady will be in Manila after the ainterview date of Nov 5, I was wondering if she could just pick it up instead on snail mail? This question I have not read or seen addressed in JV, so I am waiting for the repiles.

Blessing,

Yes it can. My asawa picked her's up at the embassy (she was in Hong Kong), because we had her plane scheduled to leave two days after the final interview.

We have been married 18 months, and I've never been so happy. Good luck to you brother!

Here are the details of this second time around.

His interview was at 1pm. He got to the embassy at 12:45, sat for an hour and 15 minutes and was called to the first window. He said it was a fellow Ghanaian who must have been having a bad day or something because he was very rude. He took the letters that Inusah had brought and then told him to sit back down.

He waited for another hour and was called to another window. It was the same CO who interviewed him at the first interview.

CO: Good afternoon
Inusah: Good afternoon. How are you today.
CO: Very well thank you. Do you have your passport?
Inusah: Yes
CO: Can I have it?
Inusah: Sure
CO: I have spent the past 30 minutes going over the letters you have brought. I am certain that your relaitonship is a true and stable relationship that has been going on for some time. Congratulations.

CO gives Inusah blue slip for visa pick up on Friday.

CO: Welcome to America

And that was it!!!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)How long til DS3032?

Called NVC today on 12/31/2012 and they finally got my I-130 package into their system. My NOA2 date was 12/20.

They gave me the NVC case number, and I provided email addresses for myself and my spouse. I asked about the IIN, but they said nothing has been invoiced yet.

How long should I expect to wait before receiving emails about DS-3032? Also, approximately how long before they'll set up an IIN?

I called today too (Dec 31) & was told that my dad's case have the case number. Dad's NOA2 was Dec 3 and it arrived in NVC dec 10. Mom's NOA2 Dec 14 & case arrived last week & not yet in the system & no case number.

I received an email today from NVC for dad's case, it contained the case number, IIN & the choice of agent. It took 20+ days to received the DS-3032 (choice of agent) from the date they received the case.

Thank you so much for everyone's help. We got the NOA2 on January 2, but it was through text. I knew we would have to wait to receive the actual letter in the mail, but I just wanted to see what we had to do next. I saw that people said to call NVC about a week of getting the noa2, but I too figured they would be busy so I might just wait for the letter NVC sends.

NVC will just assign you a case number & will forward the petition to the consulate/embassy.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)DS-3032 Choice of Agent for a Parent

Yeah, I read the other day about sending email in specific format instead of mailing DS-3032. Hopefully it will work for us, as well. As soon as the petition is approved and I get the case number, I'll email that, then do AOS bill and package. Already have almost all the papers for that. Hopefully by that time mom will have sent me her additional original civil documents. NVC customer rep told me they have to all be originals, but no translation is needed since she'll go to the local embassy for the interview.

Aside from DS-230 Part 1, is there any other form I need her to sign?

You are better off sending translations with the DS-230 packet. Read this: http://travel.state..../info_3195.html

The WHOLE file goes into the brown envelope? What if the whole file is 6 inches thick and had to be sent to the NVC in a box?

I assumed/think they forward everything. That was just what I thought., I am not sure if they indeed do it. The brown envelope that i carried when I flew here feels pretty much the whole file we have submitted from petition to the visa application. Posted Image

One member here accidentally opened the brown envelop & browse through it. He/she thinks that all the documents/forms that were submitted was in that brown envelope. It was a K-1 visa so not a whole lot of paper works compared to a I-130.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Does your entire file get transferred to NVC after USCIS?

On the same note, does the same thing occur between NVC to the Embassy? Does NVC mail everything including all supporting documents to the Embassy before the interview, such as birth certificates, marriage certificate, etc.

I think they do forward everything to the embassy. On the interview day, you can actually see the consular officer going thru your whole file. The whole file is then mailed to the visa applicant in a brown envelope together with the visa stamped in the passport. At the port of entry, when the immigrant is going thru the immigration inspection, this will be handed to the immigration officer.

Maybe someone else can chime in & explain it a little better.

Hi all, just trying to figure out if this is normal. There's all this talk about making your own barcoded cover sheets and I was getting ready to do that so as to not have to wait for the post to come to Chile.

However, NVC has been sending me everything by email, right after paying the bills. In fact I got an AOS packet barcoded cover sheet instantaneously, even before the bill showed as paid.

Hoping the same thing happens once I pay the IV bill as well.

Is this happening to everyone else? Hopefully this is another step toward moving everything online, which will be great for future VJ-ers.

If the line is busy, keep calling, but be prepared to be on hold for a long time. You can call up until midnight I believe.
My NOA2 was Dec.20. Got my NVC number and IIN number on Dec.31. Already emailed DS-3032, paid AoS bill, and mailed AoS (received by them last Friday). Now I'm just waiting for them to process the DS-3032 and invoice the DS-230 bill.

As soon as you get your NVC case number, things will start rolling pretty quick.

Yes, I know. One time I waited close to an hour and other times 20 mins or so. I don't really mind waiting that long.

I got case number, IIN & choice of agent last Dec 31 for my other petition. I am just waiting for the other one so I can proceed with both petitions at the same time.

It did went fast with the first one. In a matter of 24 hrs I got case number when I called & received the emails with the PDF.

Hello all:
My wife who is a U.S citzen filed I-130 for her mom. After approvel of I-130 my wife paid the AOS fee and the Immigrant visa fee both online. However she did not get any more forms in the mail. When my wife e-mailed NVC to inquire about the case they e-mailed her two links

http://travel.state..../info_3190.html

so now some questions

1. Is the NVC supposed to send her an I-864 cover sheet?
2. Which I-864 verison is she suppoused to file?
3. where can i find the poverty guideline that are in effect currenlty?

As always thanks in advance for any help

1. No, NVC is not going to send her the I-1864 cover sheet. It is found in the payment portal/center. Once you are logged in, click on Payment Receipts. If you can't print the cover sheet, choose the "Email Document Cover Sheet" and print it out.

2. She files the I-864.

3. Sorry, I tried searching & can't find it.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)RFE question

"Available. Applicants may obtain birth certificates at any NSO branch for a small fee. Relatives in the Philippines may obtain these documents. The NSO can also provide an index of all children born to an applicant.

Birth certificates can also be ordered on the website www.ecensus.com.ph. The site accepts credit cards issued in the U.S., Japan, Europe, Australia, and Hong Kong. There is a flat fee for each document of $20. The fee includes shipping by courier to the delivery address abroad.

A certified copy of a birth registration (less preferred) may be obtained from the local civil registrar at the place of birth. Local Civil Registrar records are often incomplete and it is often necessary to augment local birth certificates with baptismal certificates. "Affidavits from two disinterested persons" are generally considered unreliable but may be useful in cases where pre-war records are not locatable."

--------------------------

Taken right off of NVC's site: http://travel.state....5.html?cid=9719

I understand they prefer NSO birth certificates, but I did send in her local birth certificate AND her baptismal certificate. Why wouldn't they accept that? It's written in plain English on their website..

Just wait for the RFE mail. Send them what they ask for so you'll finally be done with them. Posted Image

you can send them in one package if you want and it is fine. i did that when I filed for my mom last year and it worked out great...no false check list for the other or things like that. Just make sure you seperate the IV and AOS in separate envelopes before you package it. I am waiting for my IV tbill to be sent so I can send mine in the same package again.

If I may ask, why use DHL? USPS is pretty reliable( esp for domestic next day delivery)and it cost lesS than $20.

This should be sufficient?

I used the VJ's DS-3032 template & it took about 10 business days for NVC acceptance.
I went overboard with the pay stubs. Sent pay stubs for the last 6 months. Posted Image I followed what was suggested from the guides here.
I waited until the AOS bill status changed to PAID when I sent my AOS packet. Didn't take long, it changed to PAID the next day. But it doesn't really matter, you don't necessarily need to wait because once NVC receives the packet it stays in the their mail room for a while.
