US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionBlue Slip

The last one i did was dated August 16, 2010.. so the next one am going to do will be the third...

If you don't mind me asking....what was the reason for needing a new one? The last thing that I was told from NVC was it just had to be dated after that June 2010 date....did they say why you need another one?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionBlue Slip

So today i went for my interview,at my interview i got a blue slip for a new police record again, this will be my 3rd Police record to those people, also they need me to do a DNA to prove that my father is really my dad, i feel so bad, am 27yrs old, and my dad or any one in my family have ever doubt me and these people doubt my relationship with my dad,i don't have a problem with my dad wanting a DNA, but its not my dad who needed it, its a stranger all because off wanting to to live as a family with my dad and sisters, i don't see whats wrong with someone having a child when they were 16yrs it happens all the time, my mom laugh so hard about it... but i don't see the joke in it... i told my daddy they i will do the DNA but i dont feel like leaving my country again i rather stay here with my people.... he said i break his heart to say that.. but honestly that's how i feel... anyways does anyone know how to get the DNA test done.. i didn't ask the white man who interview me nothing i just walk out when he said they not sure he is really my dad. and today atleast while i was there only one was granted all get blue slips but only me for DNA...

What was the date on the last police record? It has been notated many times in the Jamaican Forum that the US/JA embassy is requiring new police records dated after June 14th (or some date near that) did you just not see that? or, was yours dated after and they still requested another? Just asking because we just got our 2nd police record and are now waiting for an interview... About the other issue....Girl, go get the DNA ...as frustrating as it feels you are almost there! Keep your head up and jump through this last hoop! Good luck.

Request at the Japanese consulate in the Philippines (if there is one). My New Zealand fiance also lived in Japan for 4 years in her early 20's. She got the police cert from the Japanese consulate in Auckland. It takes about a month and was free.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionk1 visa process...
QUOTE (lvm1984 @ Apr 28 2009, 10:42 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello My fiance is American and I am British..

we first filed the k1 process back in August 08. Things have gone quite smoothly and I have just sent the last of the paperwork to the embassy in London .. and now I await notice of my interview date..

Does anyone know on average how long it takes for your interview at London to happen?

I am so eager and anxious to start my life with my fiance... we have lived apart for almost a year now and have only seen each other three times in the year crying.gif

The whole process has been so long and drawn out... it is such a relief to finally see an end to it....

Please advise kicking.gif

It is a terribly long and inefficient process that takes months and months longer than it should.

You can scroll down here and find the London consulate's average interview time:
http://www.visajourn.../stats.php?cfl=
(looks like 65 days from when they receive the file to an interview, on average)

Hi,
I'm new as of today to this site. I had to join as I am a nervous wreck.

My questions are pretty simple, so here they are;

For packet 3, I just want to make sure I only mail in DS-230 part 1, the check list, and complete the online DS-160 and nothing else. I ask because I was told that I also need to send in the affidavit of support from my lawyer. blink.gif
The petitioner sends you the affidavit of support, which you include with your package. Your embassy should have a list of items needed to send back to them.

This is consulate specific, based on the instructions in packet 3. Our consulate, Auckland, request the affidavit be brought to the interview. Send back whatever they ask for.

Also; for the medical I made my appointment, but they have me sched. start of June, has anyone had a medical done before the interview letter arrives? It was suggested to me not to wait until the appointment letter arrived, as it may arrive 1 week before interview.
We received an email, and scheduled the med appointment. If you have the case number as given by NVC, you can do that.
Usually you can schedule the medical as soon as you get packet 3

I am just nervous, and worry alot as I am 2.5 months pregnant (yes this was planned if anyone is wondering, as my fiance is miltary and will be deployed in the new year-and wants to be present for the birth) I am worried that the wait to get into Montreal for the interview is going to be over 4 months.... i can handle that even 5 months, but freaking about 6, as I won't even be able to travel to the interview as I will be right at my due date...egads, someone calm me down. unsure.gif

Wait is a tough one. Our petition hit the embassy pretty fast, but we have to wait 3 months for the interview. Hang in there.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionUS Customs Forms arriving in US?
QUOTE (JayandZou @ May 22 2009, 01:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi All,

I have a quick question. My fiance is flying from Casablanca to JFK next Friday so I'm preparing an email to make sure he knows how to fill out the 1 94 form. Does he also have to fill out the typical US Customs and Border control form? I'm assuming he does but I don't know if it's the exact one I usually fill out.

Anyway, we are staying in NYC for a few days before we fly home to Los Angeles. When it says to write your US Address/Hotel Destination, should I have him write the address of where we are staying in NY??? Or my address in Los Angeles?

Thanks!!

Customs form is the same blue form everyone files out, regardless of citizenship.
Home address would be appropriate, but it probably doesn't matter.

Personally i think our economies just auto corrected. They were over bloated. Now the rest of things is catching up to the drop.

Hopefully it will stay where your salary is more in line with your bills tongue.gif

$4.50 / gal of gas was rediculous and $400,000 for a 3 bed room townhouse was equally nuts.

What scares me is im only 31 and i remember gasoline being $0.77 a gallon in high school

Try living overseas. Even at $4.50/gal gas is still cheap by what people pay in Europe. Americans are just spoiled.

Same with your $400,000 townhouse. It is all relative.
Example: In the US, the average home is 4-5 times your salary. In New Zealand, its more like 10 times your salary.

I also think it would be best for him to go to the interview but he NEEDS his job esp now. IMO.

You can always get another job. If it is really the person they will spend their life with (and not a exotic fling), I would leave my job today. Depends on the seriousness of his relationship though. I think some people in foreign relationships marry just to be in the US, without spending more than a couple of weeks together, particularly when the foreigner is from a country that can’t easily visit the US. Sometimes the marriage is more serious. Only the OP can judge what the value of his relationship is verses his other obligations in life.

Think of it this way: what would you do if the visa was denied. If you would eventually end the relationship, then maybe its not serious enough. If you would leave the US to be with them, then it’s worth fighting for.

QUOTE (Kimbear @ May 31 2009, 11:38 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Just noticed this question now..and i have the same concern. Although i'm from Canada, i actually still have a copy of the Refusal notice that the POE gave me to give back to Canada saying i was refused on Dec 12/20008.

no specifics are given on it..but it does have the box "Refused admission into the USA" ticked off.

I've heard of the withdraw application for admision..but that was never offered or mentioned to me. And I only found VJ a couple of months after this happend.

I also had fingerprints and photos taken by the CBP officers when this happend and that it's normal for them to do that all the time every time someone is refused.

I'm guessing becuz of the paper and the photos fingerprints, that i HAVE to say yes i was refused entry, in my case it was stated i had not enough proof of Canadian ties for them to allowe me passage.

FYI, my fiance got in fine. Although, she was treated very poorly by the consular officer during the interview (rest of Auckland staff treated her nicely). Immigration in SFO was very nice too.

The entry issues she had last year were from Canada to the US. I think parts of the CA/US border are the worst. I have filled complaints against one of the WA/BC POEs.

Good luck. PM me later if you want details.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPacket 3 forms for people who were denied entry (withdrew application for admission)
My fiancé was turned around at the border by CBP when she tried to visit. Technically she “withdrew her application for admission’.

I know this has happened to others. For those others, how did you answer the two questions on DS-230 and DS-156 about being refused entry?

If I want to be technical about it, I believe since she voluntarily withdrew her application, she was not ‘refused’. My concern is we check ‘yes’ on these questions and they cause problems with visa issue from the consulate.

If this hasn't happened to you, please ignore this thread.

They have to enter the info in the system (which the lady at Auckland told us doesn't always co-operate well).
They also have to prepare the envelope that you give CBP at the border, and type up the actual visa sticker.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 and I-864 questions
QUOTE (James & Erma @ Jul 8 2009, 01:20 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi, I mailed the I-129F paperwork in today, so now begins the waiting game. I wanted to go ahead and start work on the I-134 since I am sure I will need a co-sponsor, I just didn't have enough income last year and I don't have a stable job right now.

I am asking my brother and sister-in-law to co-sponsor. How long would they be responsible for my fiancee legally? I want to be able to answer any questions that have.

Do I just fill out a I-134 and have them fill one out as well?

When is a I-864 needed instead of the I-134? I just want to make sure I'm filling out the correct paperwork.

I-134 is needed for the K-1 visa. It is not a legally binding document, so technically your co-sponsor can't be held liable in court.
I-864 is needed for the Adjustment of Status. It is legally binding and is valid until your spouse has US citizenship or leaves the US and surrenders her GC.

If you are just applying now for the I-129F, its likely you may not file AOS until 2010. If you have better income in 2009, you won't need a co-sponsor for the AOS phase. If I were you, I would work on making above the poverty live in 2009, so you can sponsor your wife on the AOS alone.

This is on the form you mailed the consulate, right? There is no RFE. Two things will probably happen:

1) they will mail it back and ask you to sign it, or just sign a copy you have at home and mail it in to them now.
2) they will ask you to sign it at the interview.

Call or email the consulate and tell them you forgot to sign it.

My wife just took the medical, and she missed her plane because the hospital thought she had fluid filled lungs from the Chest X-Ray. They wanted to keep her for months and do invasive microscopy. They apparently had the right to hold onto the forms until they were satisfied. I guess they were astounded that she was standing, much less in perfect health - with fluid filled lungs and all. Or maybe they thought she was from Waterworld. I dunno.

Anyway, we got them to release the forms and clear her today, but the plane is tomorrow, so we will not be able to get the visa by then. The next plane is Aug 24 :( I may have to buy a new plane ticket

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionTrying to Change Beneficiary Address
I'm getting the run around here... My fiance (who lives in Japan) has moved since we sent in the original application. I was told to contact the Embassy in Tokyo to change the address since they have the application now. However, the numbers they gave me on the mailings from the embassy are all coming back as disconnected. I finally was able to get the main number for the embassy online and called. I got who I assume was an operator who was less than helpful. She transferred me to American Citizen Services line which never actually answered. Just repeated a recording over and over even though they were supposedly open. I found another phone number online but it's a 'pay to play' sort of line and I don't want to pay them money just to be told I'm calling the wrong number.

Any help at all at this point would be very much appreciated. I'm ready to tear my hair out and NOT looking forward to the phone bill from this debacle.
