K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	commuting while waiting for K-3	When crossing to the US, make sure you have with you each trip: Utility bills, rent reciepts, check stubs, all most recent. What they will ask for is proof of responsibility in canada, and im not sure how long they will let you do that, the term "Intent to Immigrate" seems to be viewed differently for each officer. I'd suggest you wife make a majority of the trips to visit you durring this process... that trip is a bit less painfull and risky. As far as working in ca afterward, good question. I dont suspect it will be an issue as long as your paperwork is in order. I would be weary of possible double taxation tho, you may not find it to be worth it. as far as the 2nd question goes, probably not a good idea.. you would probably be better off getting a co-sponsor if its needed. We have sent the I130 last week, I wonder how often I can cross the border to see my wife, I work and live in canada and my wife is in US (50 miles away from me). Is there a limit to how often I cross to see her-in other words will the immigration personnel let me cross everyday or will it become a potential problem for me and the application process (I assume I can't stay with her even if I prove I'm actively employed in Canada). 2nd question Our intent is for me to continue working Canada while living in US, with this in mind will we be able to use my income as part of the support requirements?? K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Patterns for approvals after being touched (i-129f)	Yea, unfortunatly I dont think uscis uses any form of logical process. I know many people report a few touches in a row just prior to being approved. Mine, however was touchless for about a month then BAM, approved. Seems to be a bit different for everyone. Thankfully a lot of you are getting approved faster than that! If i understand the new reporting from USCIS correctly... they are doing it like this: USCIS's target timeframe is 6 months. If they are running ahead of schedule, they will still only display their "target" timeframe. If they are running behind, they will show the behind date instead. Basicly they rendered their timeframes useless, unless your in a group of petitions thats taking longer than their "target" timeframe -edit: Oh, and you can add me to this list as soon as i recieve my NOA =) Edited by Davin, 07 September 2006 - 01:59 PM. US Embassy and Consulate Discussion	i134 and new child	so, im sitting here getting ready to fill out the real version of the i-134, and starting to question one little part... i'll have to give a moments background first. My wife and i are persuing a K3, and durring the course of the process, we've had a child. Since we were married before the child was born, she qualifies for a certificate of brith born abroad, so she is not "immigrating" (i think?) So... In section 3 of the 134, under "name of spouse and children accompanying", i've listed none, and none... in section 8, under dependants, i've listed our daughter. and for my logic: Even tho she is currently residing in canada with her mother (I lack food recepticals on my chest), for all legeal purposes she may as well allready be in the US. US Embassy and Consulate Discussion	DS-156 Barcode	Just filled this out online and while it creates the barcode on the first page fine, the one at the end (on page three) looks a complete mess and certainly unlike any barcode I've seen before - is this right?! (Had a look at the example forms and they don't seem to include it.) Thanks again! Yup, thats right. It generates a 2 dimensional barcode that actually contains all the information you entered into the form. Canada	Proof of Divorce?	After laying all the approximate dates down on a calender, along with the babys due date... we've decided that going the route of a K2 visa is the safest route for us to go... This leaves us getting married in canada... ok, cool.. except... Having been married once before (in the US), I have to: a) get a canadian lawyer to validate my divorce paperwork B) send it to.. I believe nova scotia (sp?) for them to ok it c) wait for them to send it back approved, then can continue applying for a marriage license Has anyone else had to do this? if so.. approximately how long did this process take? Canada	Passport	Silly question, but being from canada, my wife has never needed a passport to come visit me in michigan. Canada	just starting out	Congradulations on the wedding! sounds like your on the same step of the same journey as us. Very recently, ordering your marrage certificate is available online in ont. Make sure you order it online! we applied by mail in early may... decided they lost it in late july, and ordered online. Both of them arrived within a week of eachother. I wasnt expecting a 4 month wait for the marriage cert, in the states its a week at most (and calling the Office of the Registar is a joke.... only take calls from 1:00 to 4:00 on tuesdays or somethign stupid) It really threw off our plans, so be certain to plan for it =)	Davin and Rachel	Not Telling	Canada	2006-08-29 20:50:00

Canada	Need some more advice and help if you can.	Im not sure if your past the point of uscis careing or not.. but you may want to consider keeping the appartment (or at least a smaller appartment) to help prove ties to the US. Thats usualy the only thing customs asks me when i come and go from canada is if im maintaining a residency in the US.
