The 1 year extension on your NOA and your expired Greencard and a Passport are all you will need for your trip home.... if your Passport is still in your maiden name you will need to book your tickets in your maiden name and also take a copy of your marriage certificate with you...

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBack to frustration
QUOTE (Crazy_Brit @ Feb 1 2008, 05:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all,
It has been so long since i was last obsessed with Visa Journey. I am back as i am going to send off my application to remove my conditions, plan to send it the end of Feb.
I have some questions
1) I came on K1 with my son K2 removing conditions for him on the same application as he still lives at home he is 18 i assume that is ok any red flags do you think? I have read and see none so far.
2) son's passport expires Oct this year, need to renew i know but what happens if his biometrics appointment comes in when he is waiting for a new passport?
3) Also son graduates school this year and planning to join the American Airforce we are going on Monday to see about this but i assume he will have to do his ciztizenship to join what would happen with his application then? Any ideas.
4) How long approx before you get your NOA1?
5) When do you get your letter to extend your current green Card?

Thanks all in advance.

Sharon

PS I see that some of the people I went through my K1 visa are still on the visajourney!!!

3 - you can only apply for citizenship if you have been a permanent resident for at least 3 years... conditional or not...

4 & 5 - they are one in the same and it can take up to a month or longer to get the NOA/Extension letter....

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMajor RFE Received
i think quality and range of info is better then quantity....

I don't think they want to see every bank statement for the last two years but even one per quarter or one per year would be fine... same goes with utility bills etc...

I would send in lots of different kinds of evidence instead of a lot of two or three different kinds of evidence....

QUOTE (Monty_Burns @ Feb 2 2008, 07:58 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Dont be upset about them asking for more info. At least you know they have your application and it has not gone lost. I agree with a few other people that posted notes to you. It has been my observation to send more info than is needed when you file your application. In our case we got a letter that extended my wifes 2 year green card for another year while the I-751 was processed. Just send them what they need and wait.

We used personal check so we know when it is cashed & be able to expect the NOA (and drive ourselves crazy waiting for the NOA laughing.gif )

So I guess it doesnt matter which I send then. I will send personal check because it has both names on the account. good.gif

But need to send 2 separate checks, one for application and one for biometrics, right?

nope, you can send one check...

You can have 2 separate accounts and show that the mailing address for both is the same as where you two live. That right there proves that you live together.

Diana

Thanks, Diana! I was wondering this -- is it enough to prove you are living together or do you need to prove you share and share alike? I'm not greedy (believe me, I push money on the boy all the time for treats and he won't take it!), just not thrilled about having to go open another bank account.

i included bills that were just in my name and some just in hubby's name... it does show that you live at the same address... so I think it is still good proof....

it is not really a "requirement".. if that were true you would also need to include BC of your children but what if you don't have children...

that being said, maybe you could get your mother-in-law to write a letter stating that you live with her....

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionChange of address during I-751 filing

If you are not a U.S. citizen, changing your address for legal purposes does not change your address on any application or petition pending with USCIS and changing your address on a pending application or petition does not meet the legal requirements of informing USCIS of your change of address. You will need to do both. For most cases, you can now do both at the same time on our website using the Electronic Change of Address tool (available under "Related Links" on this page).

With the exception noted above, all non-U.S. citizens who move within the United States and its territories must submit a Form AR-11 within 10 days after completing the change of address. You can do that here on our website with the Electronic Change of Address tool. If you choose to use this online tool, you can complete an electronic Form AR-11 and notify USCIS to update your address on most pending cases.

If you choose not to complete an electronic Form AR-11, you will be required to obtain a paper Form AR-11 and mail it to the address shown on the form. This will delay the process of notifying USCIS significantly. Not filing an electronic AR-11 and choosing to mail in a paper AR-11 will not update your address on any applications or petitions pending with USCIS.

Regardless of whether or not you are a U.S. citizen, if you choose not to use the electronic change of address notification, you will need to call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 to request that the address on your pending application/petition be changed. If you are not a U.S. citizen, you will also need to complete a paper Form AR-11.

If you are not a U.S. citizen and you have a case pending with USCIS, you will need to do both – call customer service and complete the paper AR-11. Completing an AR-11 does not update your address on any pending case. Also, notifying customer service does not meet the legal requirement of completing an AR-11.

If you mail a paper Form AR-11, we recommend using certified, registered or return receipt mail. This is not currently a requirement of USCIS, however it is advisable to send the AR-11 by a method that will give you documentation that you did mail the form to USCIS, in case there should ever be a question.
