May I ask what inappropriate things have been written by this person? Are we talking about one person or two or three? One in particular I don't think is harmful in the least btw. To me he's just looking for friends. I'd hate to see his name slandered all over here if there wasn't anything bad going on. unsure.gif

It isnt ' complicated ' to figure out who he is....I hear he has been coming on to women here for some time now. Imagine a married man with a child doing such a thing!

Well it's complicated for me!

I'm missing something. unsure.gif

Never mind, I've been filled in. blush.gif

Turns out I've been harassed too, but I didn't even know it. unsure.gif

I didn't know it either. Seemed pretty harmless to me. *shrug*

the one that PM'd me didn't seem like he was being inappropriate.. he just wanted to chat... I just don't feel comfortable chatting with a married man in private...

I agree. I've made some long term friendships on the internet. I've never understood when people say you shouldnt' care about the people you meet on these kinds of places. I've met some wonderful people.

yeah and a lot of us have met our SOs on the internet too.. there are people on the other side of our computer screens ......

there usually isn't an interview at the ROC stage..

and also he can apply for naturalization sooner then 3 years from now... a person can apply 3 years after becoming a permanent resident (conditional or not) if married to a USC

Really? I was sure there is usually an interview with LIfting of Conditions. I was also told that he couldnt apply until 5 years from the date of his first Green Card.

nope, there usually isn't an interview.. some people are interviewed but it isn't the norm..

and no it is 3 years after the first card, if married to a USC

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR-1 or IR-1
i am not sure about the question the IR1 and CR1 are basically the same visa...

you get the IR1 if you have been married for over 2 years.. this leads to the 10 year green card....

and you get the CR1 if you have been married for less then 2 years.. this leads to the 2 year green card.... (you have to apply to remove the conditions in 2 years after receiving this card)

from what I remember you can't.... it will cost you to call the NVC from CAnada

and they only need the USC's long form birth certificate for the initial I-130 petition (at least we did, we got RFE'd for it) but not for the NVC

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTravel after receiving CR-1 visa

So is it basically the same as a multiple entry Visa?
Isnt their a time requiremnt to physically stay in the US on a CR-1??

once you get the stamp/green card you will be a permanent resident of the United States..... the CR1 visa no longer comes into play, it is basically obsolete.... you can come and go as you please but like I mentioned before different countries might have different regulations about entering their country as a permanent resident rather then a citizen... I hope that makes sense....

I think there is some kind of time period , but i am not sure and I think it is just if you want to become a citizen which you can't do anyways for 3 years....

maybe someone who has better info can better answer that question....

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTravel after receiving CR-1 visa
when you activate your visa at the border you will get a stamp in the visa, that stamp is basically like your green card.... the stamp is good for a year but you should get your Green Card a few weeks after you activate your visa.... you should have no problems travelling , but you would have to check the travel requirements for the countries you plan to visit.....

so I just listed the trips I could think of that were longer then a few days and then I listed the one trip I made to the United States to visit my SO then for all the rest I just put that I had been to the United States numerous times and I can't remember the exact dates, I am sure they realize because of CAnada's close proximity to the United STates that we might visit the US a lot.....

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPlease, just give me the answer!

My brain hurts from reading immigration information, so I figured I'd just ask.

My wife will enter the US on a CR1 visa. We got married in January and filed in Santiago Chile. Her interview is March 21st. So I guess we'll have to file for adjustment of status, but, will she be able to work in the meantime? Does she just need her SS# or does she have to wait until the adjustment of status is completed? Thanks.

If you filed the K3 visa that shows under your name your wife will enter the country and have to file AOS before she can work.

If you filed and get an approved CR1 visa once she comes into the states and gets her social security card she can then work once she receives it. You then would file to lift conditions after 21 months time.

Was not sure of the exact visa you applied for. :time: This would help anyone trying to give you some advice. Good luck.

Mary

He did mention in his post what visa they have  .....

hubbardude, when your wife gets here.. I would suggest waiting a few weeks and then going to your local SSN office to apply for a SSN # for her... it should take about a week after that to get her SSN card... she can still work before then if the employer allows it and is aware that the SSN number is on its way...

not much else you have to do... you will not need to apply for AOS... but in 2 years less 3 months you will have to lift the conditions off her green card....
