it seems like here in the US they have a separate doctor for everything.. like you all have mentioned in Canada you just went to one doctor for everything..

I screamed and thrashed like a wild woman during labour, ... at the time I didn't care but then thinking about it afterward I was slightly embarrassed because the room was full of people because of the premature labour etc.. I know they probably see that a lot but I was still embarrassed.. oh and my water broke all over my doctor.. luckily she was wearing a mask ...lol

oh and my hubby was so sweet the whole time I was screaming and thrashing he just stood beside me touching my arm....

I also wanted to add that unless you are dead set on going the natural route, my vote is for drugs...

Thanks...

I did just find a couple of postmarked envelopes and I just remembered that I am included with his health insurance benifits through work and also listed on his car insurance and I am also included on his 401K... just not sure how to get evidence from some of those but I will figure it out....

I know I don't need to worry about this for a long time, but I was glancing at the FAQ and it looks like lifting the conditions is a lot more complicated than it sounds (surprise, surprise - this is the INS we're talking about!) So I want to get a rough idea of what I'll have to do, and what sort of stuff we need to try to accumulate for it...

It's no more complicated than the AOS. Just start putting away or creating things that validate your marriage. What I did is printout the form and Highlight what documents will be needed and put it in a folder and start sticking in there anything you think will be useful when you file, i.e. car registation, loan papers in both names. That way when the time comes you aren't running around trying to find things you can use and you can then sort through what you have and pick out the best stuff to submit.

Dittos for starting to save relevant docs starting *now*. Postmarked envelopes from cards/letters are good... lots of things will come across your desk that will be handy.
Save all boarding passes/itineraries.. keep a journal of travel dates (helpful for N-400 if you go that route).

Hoarding Rules!

geez, I never thought to keep postmarked envelopes etc... I might have a couple but I am not much of a hoarder, at least with those types of things... it never crossed my mind to keep them... not that we get a awful lot of them.... right now we don't really have any evidence that we actually are married and living together... I do have pictures but that is about it.... I guess I have just under a year to start collecting stuff

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHow to prove relationship...

Thank you very much for your replies, it has helped. =)

I had thought of the affidavits and photos,...however i didnt think of the school emergency contact.

its just a crazy situation, unfortunately we dont have cell phones cos im at school full time and my wife hasnt been able to find a steady job (here in Puerto-Rico).

any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. =)

hiya Brett!

Since you are in a non-mainland-traditional situation, you'll just have to make it up as you go along. My suggestion would be to sit down and think about all the places your lives cross with other people. The video store, Costco accounts, any clubs you belong to together, folks from your church. The emergency contact from school is a great idea! What other places have you been where you've gotten "official", either together on one paper, or both people using the same address? Documents don't have to be in both names to show that you live together--docs from both people individually at the same address carry weight as well.

You'll just have to think creatively, and use this next year to create some evidence that you're living together. Just don't have a baby for the sole reason of passing your I-751! :P

shucks darn... thats what we did  ... just kidding....

I just realized that the baby will be born around the time we have to file for the removal of conditions... so I am guessing that if we send a copy of the birth certificate with the application that will be pretty good proof, right?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 HELP DO I NEED ATTORNEY??
well, I am not sure the exact reason the OP has a different mailing adress but my hubby and I have a different mailing address then our house address.... all our mail goes to a P.O. box.... because we are renting a suite and before hubby got the P.O. Box all the mail would go to the landlord who happens to live in the main house and he sometimes wouldn't get his mail.....

It is not uncommon for people to get a P.O Box...

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionChange of Address

I wasn't living there. I was still in my homecountry at that time preparing to depart, but I had to fill in the new address of United States. My husband was still looking for the new apartment for us, so we set his parents' address to recieve 2yrs greencard and SSN. After that, we changed to our address sending AR-11 but I forgot I-865 one. Oh well, no matter it would be a big trouble, I am going to send it now.

OK, Good luck with removal of conditions.

In the future if you change address don't forget to file both forms bets to do with in 10 days of a move. And look into naturalization, you can do that after 3 years marriage to US Citizen, then no longer need to file the change of address forms.

you can apply for naturalization 3 years after becoming a permanent resident (if you are married to a US citizen) not 3 years after getting married to a US citizen....

don't worry too much about that changing of address... I forgot to do it once till a few months after moving... I didn't get in trouble... but make sure to do it but don't fret if you do it after the 10 days...

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionbeen a long time

Just want to clarify . . . your wife received her Green card March 13, 2004 and you are seeking removal of conditions prior to March 2006? I hope those dates are typos and you really meant March 13, 2005 and March 13, 2007 - because March 13, 2006 is long past. If that was your date, you probably have other worries than travel outside of the country . . .

(I am assuming it is supposed to be 2005 and 2007; I sure hope so!)

according to his time-line it is 2005.... prolly just a typo....

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionLost Green Card

Conditional residence visa: If you have been married for less than two years when your husband or wife (spouse) gets lawful permanent resident status (gets a green card), then your spouse gets residence on a conditional basis. After two years you and your spouse must apply together to the Department of Homeland Security to remove the condition to the residence.

What Is Conditional Residence?

If you have been married for less than two years when your spouse enters the United States on an immigrant visa, the permanent resident status is considered “conditional.”

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionChildren?
I have another question.... I was going to include Noah's birth certificate as proof but I don't have it yet... they said we could go in person, 3 months after the birth to pick up the certificate, which would be in January sometime.... I don't really feel like going into LA to get the certificate....

we do have a certificate thing that we got from the hospital that hubby used to add Noah to his health insurance... Do you think that would be good enough? ... I also am going to include a copy of his death certificate....

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionNOA1 received yesterday but have a question...

Guys,

Sent my wife's I-751 12/12/06 with $205 fee
they cashed my check 12/17/06
yesterday 12/28/06 received NOA1 with

Your conditional resident is extended for a period of one year................................

On the bottom of the letter says:

"“If you have not done so, provide supporting documents to assist USCIS in processing your petition and to establish eligibility to remove the conditional basis of your permanent residence. Please include a copy of this receipt notice with ant supporting documents you submit. Such evidence may include, but is not limited to, the following items:
Lease of joint tenancy
Joint mortgage agreement and/or property deed
Joint ownership of assets
Tax returns
Birth certificates of any child born from the marriage
Joint policies of life, medical, and /or car insurance “

Now my question is, Is that a normal NOA1 letter?
or they have already lost of my documents.

Please reply>>>>

david

the highlighted part tells me that they are just letting you know that if you haven't already submitted those documents, you still have a chance to do so... that is just my opinion though...
Marilyn.FemaleCanada2006-12-29 11:04:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionis this enough evidence?

Nobody can tell you exactly what's enough, but your list looks pretty comprehensive.

Double check the recent threads on the filing fee. I haven't followed what the current consensus is, but there's a biometrics fee now, so the total is $275, I believe. I'm not sure if that's to be split into two checks ($205 + $70), or one $275 check.

I believe that another recent change is that the passport photos are no longer required, but don't trust my word on this. Download a fresh I-751 from the USCIS website just before you actually file, and review it for any new changes in the requirements. Who knows, things may change still further between now and filing time.

In addition to the birth certificate, it might be nice to include a family photo showing mom, dad, and baby together in the hospital before being discharged.

Though I think you've got way more than enough for immigration now, you still should probably visit a family law attorney and see about having a will drawn up, and life insurance. The reason I say that has everything to do with planning for the child's future, and nothing to do with immigration.

I've never seen anybody post here that they got turned down for the I-751. A few have posted that they had to go to an interview, but that's not the end of the world, and they interview some couples at random, even with excellent evidence. If you're raising a child together, in addition to all the other evidence you've listed, you should sail through.

are these really necessary?? "letters from relatives & friends with knowledge of our marriage"

I am just asking for myself.... I know it probably has been asked a million times before

Yep, it's been asked. Use the advanced search button to search this forum for the word "affidavit" (in other forums, you'll get too many hits on affidafits of support).

Everybody agrees they don't hurt. Quite a few people believe they aren't necessary, as long as you have several types of the sorts of documentary evidence that a bona fide couple will naturally accumulate during two years of shared married life. FWIW, we didn't file any affidavits, but filed various kinds of financial evidence, travel photos, and the birth certificate of our daughter. Don't take that as a recommendation to avoid filing them, though.

yeah, I know how to use the search feature... just was easier to ask here.. sorry
