United KingdomMarrying in the UK/Scotland

We opted to get married and then file for CR1, as we still have another year of living in India. The idea was to get married and then apply DCF.

Thats a good idea. Since u have been living in india more than 6 months , you re eligible to apply DCF. Its faster than normal processing time. All the best

United KingdomMarrying in the UK/Scotland

Since you both known to each other for more than 2 years, you are eligible to pursue K1 visa(Fiance visa) which s the faster process. But Since you decided to get marry, The only safest option is CR1 process which takes longer than K1 visa.

We received our NOA1 dated 10/16/2012 (Vermont Service Center). It's coming up on a month and the USCIS website is still saying that the case number cannot be found. I've seen a few posts that it take a couple of weeks to get it in the system for tracking. But a month? Anyone else having the same issue?

Thanks!

USCIS Service CentersPost August 15 Transfers

Looking at the volume and trends, they didn't stop totally transfering from CSC & VSC until sometime in September. http://dashboard.usc...e=2&charttype=1 So, maybe once CSC gets through all of those it will turn it's attention to I-129F's for a change.

Thanks for the link. I see what you mean. It looks like you guys should be coming up on your NOA2 soon. Good luck!!

USCIS Service CentersPost August 15 Transfers

What are you referring to about transferring non K1 petitions to other centers? Where did you read about this or heard this rumor and why August 15 filing date?

I have noticed that VSC is still processing K1s very consistently where CSC has practically come to a stop on them. Also, quite a few are August filed petitions too.

Apparently, as of August 15, 2012 I-130 filers for IR-1/CR-1 visas were being transferred by the NBC to local processing centers instead of to Cali or Vermont to ease the workload. You can go to the advanced search (top right of page) type in 'transfer local centers' and there are various threads. We're hoping that once CSC and VSC get done processing these visa types that are already there they can devote more time to plowing through their substantial backlog of K-1s (fingers crossed).

Good luck!!!

USCIS Service CentersPost August 15 Transfers
Anyone have any thoughts on the topic of how the K-1 service centers might/will be affected once they get passed the August 15 filing date of when they started transferring a lot of non-K1 visa apps out to other centers? Of course, I'm hopeful that things will speed up for us but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

USCIS Service Centersvermont processing time ??

Please keep us updated fellow VSC filers :)

Since I was up so early this morning I thought I would do a little research. I started with my EAC number and started working backward in number blocks of 5. I have 10 in my block of filers and I found 2 more blocks with lower numbers. One block was very close to mine but the other was about 500 lower. None are showing anything past "Initial Review". As a point of reference we are Oct. 16 NOA1.

I know from watching VJ that things are not always in order but if I see blocks getting approved near mine (most aren't on VJ anyway) then we should have some good idea that our files will be 'touched' soon. If I have time this evening I'll try to go back farther and see what I find.

Good luck to us all!

Hi, I actually have the same message you posted. I posted a shortened version for brevity. So you're saying despite you going for a 2nd interview 1 year after your initial one, the status says 'expiring soon'? From reaching other threads, it sounds like it may be a false alarm. I'm having the congressman's rep confirm with the consulate directly.

When I received the letter for second interview ,the status again changed to AP.

So,I am going to mumbai on 18th will let you know .......

Thanks for responding. The Mumbai Consultate only provides the USTravelDocs email ID as the contact info. I email them every month. And in April 2013, I sent the consulate additonal documentation they requested at my interview. On top of that, my spouse's congressman's office writes to the consultate every month to inquire about my AP's progress. So certainly, isnt a case of going A.W.O.L!

I am going through the same situation.

But my status also showed

You were advised of this requirement over 1 year ago, but we have not received a response from you since then. As a result, your application for a visa has been canceled and any petition approved on your behalf has also been canceled.

Your application may be reinstated and any petition revalidated if, within one year, you can establish that your failure to pursue your immigrant visa application was due to circumstances beyond your control. Please provide a written statement to the Embassy or Consulate outlining the circumstances beyond your control and noting that you still wish to pursue this visa petition.

meanwhile I have forwarded the documents which they have asked,as a result i received a letter asking me to come for second interview along with 2/2 photographs, new ds230 and update my visa delivery address in traveldocs site and i am going this 18 nov.

United KingdomBest way to transfer British savings into american

Transferwise is 0.5% commission vrs Currencyfair's average 0.35% so it looks like a good one to compare.

Which means that CF has a lower commission rate. Another thing I like about CF, is that you can put your currency on the market (if you're not in a hurry and are dealing with larger sum), to see if anyone accepts your offer.

United KingdomBest way to transfer British savings into american

From my personal experience, I would recommend currencyfair.com  It costs 4 quid to exchange GBP to whatever currency you want - USD in my case, and another 4 quid to transfer to any U.S. bank account. Most U.S. banks will charge you a fee for receiving the money, but it's usually not that much.  Also, exchange rates at CF are far better than at any post office and banks.  Hope this helps.

United KingdomCollective Help: CR-1/IR-1(DCF London)

I'm looking for fellow UK members, who had filed an I-130 via DCF in London recently.  Reason to create this separate thread, is to give all the London CR-1/IR-1 filers, an easy way to share their experience from when they filed  their petition, to the finish line ;)   Updated stories, will help everyone to be current on their process - and allow them to get "real time"  fresh answers.

Lets start by getting the current timeline of receiving NOA2.  I wonder by how much does the actual timeline differs from what members have received in their I-130 notice of receipt.

United KingdomLondon Applications Behind Schedule?

On the U.S. Embassy's in London website, it states that: "As of April 07, 2014, we are processing petitions filed on March 06, 2014."  I have filed mine on February 4th, but it was put in the system on the 7th.  Does that mean, I will most likely have to wait another 4 weeks until NOA2? Looking at previous filings, most petitions were getting approved within 3-4 weeks.  Have they fallen behind?  Has anyone else filed their I-130 in London in January or February?

United KingdomApplicant Readiness/Medical

Hi,

Just to give you a bit of an update for our timeline: Medical results were received by the embassy on 23rd June, an interview letter was sent from the embassy on 24th June with my interview scheduled for 11 July.  On my readiness form we did state that husband has orders to leave the U.K on the 17th July, so I'm not sure if that and that he is military may have had a bearing on how fast we got the interview date.

Thanks for the info.  Yes, I'm positive it made a difference in their decision on when to schedule your interview.  When you file the readiness form, it asks you about your tentative day of travel.  I can't remember what I put on mine.  I'm thinking that if my wife's medical is on the 3rd of July, then the interview will most likely be scheduled for the first or second week of August - not earlier. Although, they do surprise sometime.  I just ho[e it's not by the end of August.

United KingdomApplicant Readiness/Medical

For ours, the medical was Friday May 16, filed NoR on Monday May 19, got the interview letter on May 31st, with an interview date of June 20th (tomorrow!!)

Great!  I went and scheduled my wife's medical last week, for July 3rd and sent (electronically) the NoR the same day I scheduled the medical.  So it seems as though we might be looking at a possible interview date around the first or second week of August. We shall see.   It's 3 days past your interview, how did it go?

Just out of interest, did any of you get a receipt when you filled in the online readiness form?

I'm afraid, the only receipt you get is when the page refreshes and informs you of successful filing.  That's all.  It is a bit weird, because you will know for sure until the Embassy receives your medical results and you get the interview date letter.

bluebird74MaleUnited Kingdom2014-06-23 07:41:00
United KingdomApplicant Readiness/Medical

That is a fairly safe assumption. But if you want to be risk-free, you can always hold off mailing the readiness until you are actually ready, ie home from the trip. Or maybe two weeks post medical while you are on the trip, so Readiness is the last thing to arrive at the embassy.

Thanks.  I'm a bit surprised to see you here.  Thought you were gone from the forum. Good to see you back :)

I hate to postpone anything else, because due to unforeseen circumstances, I have already fallen behind for over a month.  I will go ahead and schedule the medical and file the readiness form the same day.

Thanks everyone for replying.  I do appreciate your input.  I will go ahead and schedule wife's appointment and file the readiness form as well.

United KingdomApplicant Readiness/Medical

Hello to everyone.  I have a quick question, which I previously posted on London Medical -Knightsbridge Doctors thread, but have not receive a single response.  Let me try again:

My wife is ready to schedule her medical and we wanted to know when's the best time to send the Notification of Applicant Readiness form to the Embassy?  The form asks you to provide them with your medical appointment's date and the results from Knightsbridge usually take up to 4 days to reach the Embassy.  With that being said, is it safe to assume they will schedule her interview NOT earlier than 3-4 weeks post her medical?  We're planning a trip next month and wanted to know how to schedule everything.  If anyone has had their interview letter, please let me know when you had your medical, sent the readiness form and when your interview was scheduled.  Thanks.

United KingdomDo I have everything I need for Interview?

FlyingPhoenix--

Did you have a sponsor other than your fiancé? Can you confirm a joint sponsor's birth certificate was asked of you? I do not believe this to be a requirement for an I-134 in London. Yes, it would be for a IR1/CR1 spouse visa using the I-864 because that has specific rules stating the joint sponsor must be a USC. There aren't any such rules for a K1 and the I-134.

Nich-Nick,  you may have just confused and scared me with your last statement.  When filing for spouse on IR1/CR1 you need the joint sponsor's birth certificate? And what about that joint sponsor having to be a USC?  I have filed a petition for my wife recently (I-130), and I will have to have a joint sponsor. My joint sponsor is in the process of waiting for her oath ceremony, but at this time she is still an LPR.  All I know, is that the joint sponsor has to be either an LPR or a USC - currently residing in the US (having U.S. domicile) and either biographic page from U.S. passport or photo copies of both sides of LPR card need to be submitted.  There is no information on birth certificates.   Could you clarify this for me please.

United KingdomMedical (London)

Quick question before wife's medical.  I have noticed a requirement for females (11-26 years) to be vaccinated for Human Papillonomavirus.  Somehow I missed this earlier and thought she was only to need  her second MMR and DTP/DTaP/DT. Can someone tell me if that HP vaccine is really a must for the CR-1 visa?  Wife will actually be getting her  DTP/DTaP/DT tomorrow and her medical is on Thursday.

United KingdomHave you used Transferwire to move funds from US to UK?

Hello All,

I am looking at the best option to transfer funds from the US to the UK on a monthly basis. I have seen Xoom mentioned on this forum before and have read user reviews which are good but Transferwire had much better user ratings.

Has anyone used Transferwire? If yes, what has been your experience?

If you have another agency that you use for this and you have had a good experience, please share.

Many thanks

I may be late with a reply, but here it is anyway:  I used to send my money (usually from UK-US) through CF (Currency Fair), but have just signed up with TR (Transferwise).  I have received a free payment and upon taking advantage of it, I can say that I am fully satisfied with their service.  The usual transfer fee is similar to that of CF, but it seems as though the conversion rates are better.  The best thing I liked, was the fact that my bank in the US, did not take any wire receiving fee - as it was the case when I transferred with CF.  The reason the bank didn't charge me was because it was NOT a wire but rather a direct deposit via ACH (Automated Clearing House) which TW uses.  I am definitely recommending TW's service.

United KingdomApplicant Readiness Form Q

I have recently came across some uncertainty that people have after sending Notification of Applicant Readiness Form online.  Thing is, you do not receive any other confirmation other than that it was submitted (after you click the submit button).  Things happen and there is always a possibility of that form never reaching the Visa Unit.  So, there you are, waiting for your interview letter to arrive and weeks go by and it's not here. What if you could have resubmitted that Readiness form again a few weeks earlier (just to have 2 shots at it).  Would this be a bad thing?

bluebird74MaleUnited Kingdom2014-07-09 14:18:00
United KingdomI-864 from co-sponsor

Well...the I-864 was accurate on the date the co-sponsor signed it, so it would go through just fine as it is. Or you could get a new one filled out to be most accurate and up to date. Either way, the person qualifies. You have time to receive it since your interview has not been assigned yet.

Read the instructions for the Form I-864. Page 4, Item #5 lists the documents acceptable to prove US status for your (joint) sponsor. Yes you need documentation for a joint sponsor. If your sponsor is now a citizen, she has a naturalization certificate even if she hasn't applied for a passport yet.

Question: I was looking at your timeline. Have you had the medical? You mention being delayed waiting for 2 MMR shots. You only need one. The second is marked "insufficient time interval" by the clinic and receives a waiver. Your immigration is not held up waiting on time intervals for shots that are a series. As long as you got the first shot, the others are waived. You never have to get it.

Yes, she had her medical done on the 3rd of this month.  It was scheduled two weeks prior and her Applicant Readiness Form was sent the same day.  Well, I've had a headache of a time trying to make sure wife wouldn't need to get any shots at Knightsbridge.  She had her immunization record from Poland and it was a hell of a time trying to decipher it all.  She's had it translated, but they didn't use Excell to make it easier to read.  Anyway, her UK GP studied it and told her she couldn't see when and if she was given the MMR shot. She gave her one MMR shot on the spot and told her she will need a booster (Td) shot later. She had to wait a month to get it.  As soon s she was able to book her appointment for that shot, I scheduled the earliest medical, and here we are.   What's confusing to me, is the fact that Knightsbridge wrote down 2 MMR's as if they were given the same day and the Td as the one which was given a month later.  That's wrong, because my wife was given one shot and two shots the next time.  I've very confused and Igotta tell you, I am not used to dealing with GP's in the UK.   Whether she needed that second one or not, it's a done deal.  I'm just glad that nothing was missing at the time of her medical.  However, Knightsbridge did put something in results section that got me thinking.  1. Vaccine History Incomplete 2. Applicant may be eligible for blanket waiver because vaccination not medically appropriate.  When I asked about it, they told me it was nothing to worry - they are instructed by the Embassy to do this now.  So, it was quite confusing to me about the shots and I hope she didn't get anything she wasn't supposed to, but at least she passed it.  I just hope the Embassy didn't lose that electronically submitted readiness form.  I hate to be waiting and waiting and the interview letter never comes.
