Thanks for the advice. I know I did contact a travel group and they said since I was under 45 I couldn't travel with them alone so I'm sure I won't be going. We talked about maybe having the interview in Cairo, do you know if its possible to change the Consulate after we filed the I-129F?

Yes you can change the consulate, but would need a valid reason. He can ask the Cairo to request his file, but then you going to wait for a interview and also Cairo to review the file.

I don't think he should change the consulate at this point if he got an interview date.. just have him ride it through

Middle East and North AfricaEVIDENCE
Hi Amuna,

When I went with my fiancé' for the interview in Jordan, I was told by Nahda office to take the full album of pictures ( 100 ) and all chats and emails for the past 3 years with me, but not to give it to CO but rather just keep it on side of table during interview.

During interview the CO did not look at any of it, he just looked at pictures we had with the application we sent which been like 10.

When we got into the room for interview, I wanted to take my trench coat off (cause were nice dress) and my fiancé helped me with removing it and place it on a chair, so not sure if that showed something to CO, but he was watching.

Then when CO told us we need additional process, my smile went away, and my fiancé hold my hand and said it is OK

I think the evidence does not count for a lot.. it is more how serious both parties are

Middle East and North AfricaWhich Home Address to Report at POE
Hello,

I am not sure if anyone can advise on this...

I am wondering at POE which address my fiancé should be reporting. I am a resident of Texas for the past 19 years, I own a home there, plus my company is there as well, but of the past 2 years I been working off and on in Chicago. I do have an apartment rented and I spend at least 10 months in Chicago.

All our papers we used the Texas address because I was always worried what if my company move me to another location. So now as we going to file, which address should we reporting? Does he have to decide the address at POE or I can change it when I submit the papers.

Please let me know

Thanks

Middle East and North AfricaThursday ... Happy Day
Good morning all,

It is a happy day for me, well last night at 11:30 PM my fiancé told me that aramex website was updated and it seems passport is out of embassy.
I got the call at 3 AM telling me his visa in hand and everything seems to be good.

He is planning to come back end of this month... finishing some dental work in Jordan.
I cannot wait to see him again.. I know he just left US on 12th of this month, but it is like a celebration for phase 1 of a project.
I will meet him in NY and spend a weekend there..

I am going to start looking for a wedding dress, since my Dad wants us to marry in Church.. I hate planning a wedding, I was hoping for something simple.. Arab's parents demands on both sides

Good luck to everyone else..

Middle East and North AfricaFriday... Nor a Good start

Sorry his tardiness cost so much! Sucks. Why on earth was he late or why did he leave home late???????????

Well he did admit his fault, but he was also at the ticket counter close to 1:15 minutes before flight time.
I am not sure you had seen the Jordan airport. There is craziness in every corner. There are in total chaos, no orders.
If you want to pay someone close to 50 bucks they will bring you the ticket and walk you through the passport line fast.

He said that not only him but 6 others were also told same thing that door is closed although the flight had 1:10 minutes left for t is departure.
We believe that airline over sold the seats and they just wanted to cut off the last people.

My last two trips with Royal Jordanian, I fought with them. They are idiots with every meaning of the word.
My future mother in law was with me, she felt sick, so I got her a 7up to drink, as we were inside the airport pass the security and the passport waiting for the flight room to open. The girl said you cannot get this drink with you. I tol her I bought it from inside airport.
They had to call supervisor to approve it, but he aked me to drink it before i get on plane and show the empty can to the agent!!!!!

Amazing, I will do a terror woth with a can of 7up!!!

Anyway... I am all set for tomorrow. It is OK for the money. I am pretty sure it is one of the losses we keep enduring.

Good morning,

I am about to shed tears because he missed his flight. He left late from the home, and off course the Jordan airline had to close their gate 45 minutes early. He had to pay another 250 dollars to fly tomorrow.

Now what would I do with my flight, what would I do in NY all alone.. not that I like that city!!
Hotel is non-refundable at 350 dollars, my ticket is 240 dollars, to book anther one it will cost another 200 bucks at least..

More and More spending.. nothing comes at cheap..

Just not feel like going to NY tomorrow either.. all for 1 day!

Have a great weekend everyone else

Middle East and North AfricaFiancé POE at JFK
Good morning all,

Finally my fiancé had made it home. On Saturday he arrived in JFK. He called me from his cell to tell me he landed. I was waiting at that terminal for about 2 hours since I took earlier flight.

He called me at 3:45 PM ET. I was standing till 5:40 ET with no sign of him, but as I was turning my head, he came out, as soon as he saw he, he started to smile.
He was sweating badly. He said this airport is a ZOO and truly it was, because 3 flights came in from Egypt, Dubai and Amman, brought a lot of Arabs, Indians and some Asians. The arrival room was packed; some people don't even have manners.

Anyway, I asked him how it went, and here it is:

He said he filled out the White card I-94 as I told him, since he is Canadian; he never filled out any card during his visits to USA only card he fill is customs. He arrived to the passport agent line. He mentioned all windows were open. He stood in the visitor line; the officers were sharp directing people and moving some to the US line.
He arrived at counter after 1 hour. The officer was an ex-marine. He started to talk to my fiancé about his role with US army in Falujha since the officer served in same part of country. He asked him how he we met, what do I do for living, and when we are planning to get married. My fiancé asked him about the EAD card, and office said that other agents will take care of it.

He then was moved to area location 2. There were lot of people sitting, he thought it is going to take another long hour, but after 10 minutes, officer came out, called his name and he gave him the passport with I-94. My fiancé directly flipped the back and saw the EAD stamp dated till August 27th. He moved to take on his bag and then exit. He said it was easy with no issue, only problem the heat and too many people.

We spent one night in NYC; we both did not like it since it was crowded. We were glad to go back to Chicago last night. We are looking to do the civil wedding this week and start applying for all needed document. The good part, his DL from Canada allows him to drive here.

Thank you Visa journey for your help, I am glad I come here to read about anything which allowed me to use it during out process.

Today is our 1 year engagement anniversary and sure after 1 year he is finally home.

Good luck everyone.

Good morning,

I would had been a good day of it was not raining, but I heard that rain is a good thing on a wedding day..

Today we will be heading to court in few hours to do the civil wedding so we can complete his AOS papers.
The real wedding at church will be done in Mid august or towards the end. I have been so busy and cannot even think of a date.
I think the challange that I live in Chicago, but my actual home in Texas and his family in Arizona. The customs says to do it in Arizona so it is hard since i know nothing about that city..

I wish I could clone myself on this day!

Middle East and North Africaflying to the USA
Hello,

I was at JFK on 29th of May waiting for my finace. His flight arrived at 3:46 PM ( I believe the Cario flight came in earlier).
He called me when he was still on plane, I did not see him exit out till 5:40 PM.

Please note that on that day, there were like 5 flights arrived from Dubai, Cario, India, London, Amman and some Turkey.
As you can see having all these flights at same time during a busy holiday week took longer time for him.

He did not wait long time after he spoke to the immigration officer, but he mention the line on visitor was way too long, and so many people with kids which made that wait longer.

Once your husband is out from the gate, he can hand his luggage to the next airline, and then go up escalator to take the air train to next destination.

I am not sure which airline you are taking, but the Delta airline was horrible, I would never fly on them any more.

I hope this helps

Middle East and North AfricaTuesday.. Hate it
Good morning all,

It is been few days since I wrote here because was in process to plan for a wedding, bought dress, he bought suits, church is confirmed, now we need cake, photos, and a place to have the wedding dinner..

The sad thing in all of this his family will not attend because they claiming they are busy.. His mom is upset because she wanted wedding in Arizona, but planning one where I am 100% busy with work and 2 major projects makes it difficult.

We choose Chicago since we both are here, and we can manage things around, plus he have cousins living here and my family is coming over.
I was so sad since Sunday and eyes tearing up.. He broke a fight with his mom yesterday because he thinks she is not being cooperative.

Anyway.. No social security yet.. He went to the USCIS last Monday they told him his name is missing some information that are still not there!!!
He went to social security office yesterday and they still don't have his name. The lady freaked him out saying by August 27th if your name does not show up then you will never have a social security. I told him this is a BS, you will have one when EAD is approved.
Then he did not believe me and called USCIS again and they said same thing when EAD is approved.

We are sending the AOS and EAD this morning, I have went over all papers 6 times, and will do it one last time before I hand it to him to mail it.

Great day out in Chicago.. Going to Springfield tomorrow for BBQ (customer meeting)

Any advice on SS...

Well I bought him the one he wants to build for 850 but I kept seeing him buying parts and parts and parts.
I keep asking how much it is going to cost.. he said don't ask.

Last night I went into his account and counted about another 850 for parts..

So tell me how is it suppose to be cheaper :)

Good morning MENA,

I hope all of you will have a Good Day and Week..
I have not been here a lot cause it is been a crazy August Month. Finally we got married " Church Wedding" on 14th of last month.
It was a nice wedding with family on both sides. Then work was just as crazy as it is every month, and did not go for any honeymoon.
This weekend we end up staying in Chicago at the Westin and had a good time shopping, dinners, and site seeing.
I still have another 4 weeks of vacation to kill so I hope I can take it all before end of year.

I checked this morning after finally register in USCIS nothing is changed. His EAD still not touched since August 10th and 1-485 is August 24th.
I just wonder how long it will take till he gets his EAD, he is so ready to work.. at least now he is in school and killing his time with it.

Middle East and North AfricaChange the way I dress?

Your post reminded me of the time a few months ago that I was grocery shopping and saw a niqabi shopping with her husband who was dressed in shorts, a Hawaiian shirt (gag) and mandals. It was a very hot day that day. Now I don't know if the woman wore niqab out of her own personal choice or if her husband expected it of her or whatever but I felt kinda weird seeing her all bundled up on a sweltering day whilst her husband was ready for the beach. Not really anything to do with the subject but I felt like sharing. :D

And if you go to the arab gulf countries and walk during June till Sep when it is actually hot and humid you can possibly see that most of the women dress in shorts or underwear below the “ Abbaya” ( saw many of them when the wind comes flying )because it is simply hot, others poses this “Dirty Sweaty Smell’ that kills you no wonder they use a lot of perfume or “ bokhoor”
BattaFemaleJordan2010-09-23 18:10:00
Middle East and North AfricaChange the way I dress?

How was that absurd? I had to do a lot of soul searching before I decided to convert to Islam. It does not only effect me but it affects my children as well. And then when I chose to cover I had to face criticism from my family and my ex and his opinions on what it was doing to our daughter. If you are born Muslim that I can understand it being absurd but anyone who has converted knows the difficulties you face especially living in a state or town that is primarily Christian. I was just offering support to a sister I didn't need your approval or disapproval for a comment that obviously was understood by who it was meant for.

Sorry.. if you feel so pressured in a Christian town / Country how about then you pack and move to Arab country may be you feel more relaxed there!! No one forced you to live here!
I just cannot understand why so many Muslim people feeling the guilt of so called being abused or targeted by others in a country that accepts all religion practices.

Only people who cannot stand up for themselves find excuses of their surrounding to justify their weakness.

Middle East and North AfricaMoroccan Culture?
Hello,
This is a very sensitive topic to discuss around all cultures. Many of us who had been raised in a 3rd world country understand what it means to support other family members who are in need.
Growing up, I saw my parents struggle to make ends needs, and when dad finally opened his own clinic he was doing well, and to be honest many of extend family members were living off my dad medical help and his willing to support them although they had enough of asset to make it on their own. My mom was a super mom who helped her nephews and nieces throughout their childhood time.

Yet when the war started in Iraq and we had to leave, my family lost almost everything and when my mom was diagnosed with cancer and called her family for her to pay for medication, we got the deaf ear. Then we finally were able to sell the gold we have to pay for her medication, and after arriving into the US back in 1993 she did not even got the support of her brother here, we all had to start looking for jobs just a week from arriving in USA. I remember I started working after 20 days and my brother started after 10 days.

My mom passed away in 1995, and when my other family members in Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan needed money I used to send and help, taking it away from my mouth and helping them, but my dad was upset because he always remembers when we needed help but no one offered.

Today, I help some family but not a whole lot, because I discovered some people say they need support but they go spend it on luxury items which I could prohibit myself from them. I don’t send the 5K like I used to do, but now I send 200 to 500 Max.

When I met my husband, we talked about helping family only closest ones, nothing like cousins and others outside the close circle. Yet he also understands that we need to pay our 2 homes and also save for the future. Once he starts working we agreed that his paycheck will go to pay off the 2 mortgages and I will still support the house bills, and any other stuff. We agreed we will help family but after we discuss how much we can help them with.

It is part of our love to our parents and family to support them, but also we need to look at our self. We are not putting our family in homeless homes but also we are not promising them mansions to live in.

I have many friends who sent loads of money to their family in Iraq because they felt bad for them not able to work, yet these families were spending left of right close to 1000 dollars a month on stupid things while the folks over here working 2 jobs to help them.. Isn’t this a classic case of being run by so called “love your family!!”

Middle East and North AfricaHe never says sorry...

Generally speaking I am not one for playing games with people; however, I learned that my husband does not like if I do the silent treatment/ignoring the problem back at him. That is what he used to do to deal with problems that arose and once I started giving him back what he gave me, he realized it wasn't pleasant and he opened up more. If I acted like I didn't care he would approach me to talk it over. It's strange, I know. Not saying this would work for you but maybe if you backed off a bit after an argument or issue instead of trying to fix it right away, he may be more willing to open up? I have found that most men need some space after a problem before they are willing to discuss it and fix it.

Totally agree.. In our case it takes him about 6 hours before he could speak to me..I used to bug him trying to correctc it but now i just let it go and come back after sometime to make it up :)

Hello Mena..

It is a cold night in Chicago. I was happy Friday night when hubby came home for his 1st week at work. He was dead tired but I welcomed him with a cooked “Okra Stew" and his favorite bean salad. It was nice to have him home this weekend since last week seems to be a tough one with him being away for 8 days.

Well things does not last for long since he will be leaving tomorrow at 5 AM to go back to WI for another 8 days working with another team leader which means I will be all alone :( he will be back on 8th of Nov. Therefore, Olivia don't feel bad, at least yours is for sometime mine will be like this for LONG time only if he decide to quit this job and we move to Texas so he can work with my Bro at his auto shop.

I cooked " Chicken Curry" today and tonight he is having " Beef Liver" which I master cooking it since I used to see my mom's doing it all times back home. I put lots of curry, cumin, Arabic allspice, black pepper, onion and most important oil.

I am thinking to start opening an Arabic cooking school since it seems I have time at my hand, because working 16 hours at work will not change anything since I am on a salary..

Have a wonderful week all..

Hello Mena,

Been a while since postd here, although I try to make the time to read all posts :)

Well, I spend today helping out on the Job fair and holding interviews for graduates. Hubby now has a job and went to Green Bay for 1 week for orientation and training, so I am all alone.. It was Sad when he pull away from the parking lot and tears in my eyes. He reminded me that he is only 3 hours away and he will be home soon. This job will put him on the road a lot for more than 5 days a week, so not sure how it going to work.

This is when I kill myself at work and try to go to GYM to lose the weight i put on because of stress and the no focus diet.

I am happy things are in order as hubby work will ease things on him as he was starting to lose it and fight with little things. He started to be a change man just when he knew he was accepted and i could sense it.

I cannot wait for teh holidays to come so I can visit my family in Texas and have some quality time with them..

Pray for us and especially for my husband to change his mind and accept us to move to Dallas because I will be so happy there :)

Have a great evening.

Good morning ,,

Good luck with the job Olivia...

I have blisters all over my feet from wearing new shoes 2 days ago where I was forced to walk in them for 1 hour :(
Hubby now has more hobbies such as car racing and flying planes :) More spending than ever.. he is killing time..

The Green Card had been ordered so we just going to wait for it, plus he got the EAD in hand so now he is reading his books to possibly take the CDL for trucks next week so he can start looking for Jobs.

As for me , boring life at work with so much to do and less time to complete everything. I made a Zucchini stew last night but made a mistake and put some cinnamon instead of chili red pepper, hubby eat it with no complaint :) I have not told him the human error.
I been cooking a lot all of the Arabic food cause he does not like eating out. I am just running out of ideas. I need to pull out my Arabic cook book and start discover the hard dishes my mom used to make.

Have good day all
