IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTragedy! Visa Denied!
Being prepared is 99% of success. Anyways, this is a lesson and hopefully things will work out for you guys!! Good luck :star:

Those VOs are a bunch of idiots! NO, YOU ARE THE IDIOT FOR NOT LETTING YOUR WIFE BE PREPARED ENOUGH FOR HER INTERVIEW!!!!! They want to detect fraud, fine. But at least they need to give honest people a chance to clarify things and remedy whatever they suspected during interview. It's unfair to outright denial and then send the files back to USCIS to sit in the dust for two years, without giving people even a chance for rebuttal.

Just saying

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDublin IS A POE....SERIOUSLY?
; How come you don't go through immigration and be interviewed (normal procedure) with a CBP since flying from Dublin to NY is still an international flight and not considered a domestic flight?!

Every international flight has to go through Custom Border Protection and Security, is for what I understand.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat happens if you ARE turned away by CBP
; I WAS REFUSED ENTRY LAST MAY

I HAD TO SIT DOWN IN SECONDAIRY SECURITY AND SAT ON A CHAIR FOR 4 HOURS. THEY GAVE ME FOOD AND DRINK AND I WENT ON THE FIRST PLANE BACK HOME TO THE NETHERLANDS. OH... AND GUESS WHAT, I DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR MY FLIGHT BACK.. THEN I HAD AN INTERVIEW 2 MONTHS LATER (B2) AND I DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS ENTERING THE US EVER SINCE... :innocent:

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresso upset and confused.
; At this point, you're visa hasn't been approved YET Maybe they need something else added to his tax returns. Haven't you asked why they didn't take your passport? I would make a phone call and ask what they need from you for them to approve your petition.

I don't have a lot of knowledge about this yet, since I'm "new" and haven't been thru the interview stage.

But I do know is, is that IF they have approved your petition, they would have taken your Passport from you in order to put your Visa in it and send it back to your home address.

I'd like to hear what other members have to say about this.

Good luck and don't panic, there must be a reason why they didn't approve you at this point. All you have to know is what they need more from you, so they can review your case and re-schedule an interview appointment.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWe got NOA2.. What to do next?
I would recommend getting your finanacial documentation and evidence in order. Request your tax transcripts, fill out the support form. For my fiance I sent a complete copy of the original petition, the financial support forms (at the time Morocco was waivering between the I-134 and the I-864 so I sent both), any chat logs, new letter of intent and additional evidences I had of our on-going relationship. It was expensive to send because you do not want to do standard mail (way to risky in Morocco) rather I sent USPS Express Mail and he had it in about a weeks time. Use this time to also just do some extra coaching with your fiance. If you search the site you will see lots of threads regarding the types of questions asked in the interviews at the Morocco Consulate.

Good luck with your interview!

Middle East and North AfricaOk I read to much here!!!OK
I have to admit I am right there with you....I am only at the NA01 stage waiting for the NA02, but sometimes reading the stories on here scare me to death. Though I do find hope in the successes as well. It just seems that the embassy in Casa can go either way on any given day...If you are unprepared, if you are too organized, if you are wearing the wrong color shirt..... I am just going to hope and pray for the best. We will make it work somehow. Hang in there and keep us posted, best of luck for a very successful interview!

Zaytoona,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. This information is so very helpful. I am really glad your fiance was able to also point out some of the commonalities of the others who were denied that day. Congratulations again, and thank you. This actually helps me to feel a bit better as my fiance and I get further along in this process.

Middle East and North AfricaFavorite dish from SO's country

I'm still a sucker for bastilla... I know it's cliche, but I'd walk a mile for one! ^_^ It's a meat pie with chicken that's cooked in oil with onions and spices, then chilled to a paste and mixed with sugar and cinnamon, and baked into a flake pastry crust, then the outside is decorated with either powdered sugar and cinnamon, or sliced roasted almonds..

This one was from our engagement party:

And this one is from a Moroccan restaurant near Washington DC (honestly, it tastes better than the ones I've had here.. they have an amazing chef):

I am definitely a fan of the bastilla too...but I prefer the seafood one. Sooooo good. I am salivating just thinking about it.

Middle East and North Africapassed interview but I-864 wanted

My fiance passed the interview. The embassy rep told her "you passed". but, then said "bring two I-864's and you will get the visa". Should we worry about this? She will drop off the requested forms, no problem, but should we worry that between the "you passed" and this week they may change their mind?

What embassy are you dealing with? Sounds like you just need to provide the forms and they will give the visa.

Middle East and North AfricaCasa Interview Today

Congratulations again! Did you and your SO have any particular red flags that you overcame or positive aspects of your case that may have helped you in this process? Did you "front load" a lot of evidence with your original petition, and/or send your SO to the interview with a lot of evidence? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to capture a bit of your success!!

Lol..no problem and thank you, the more prepared you are the better...right?! As for red flags, we did not have anything too bad, but there are a couple of things that may have stood out... One, I was only able to manage one trip over there because of work. Secondly he has family here in the states. A sister and brother-in-law who live in the states (they are citizens for 10 years). Lastly, he did apply for a visa several years ago..but was only ever made it to the "wait-list." But, we were prepared for any questions about those things. We are close in age, he is actually older by a whopping 3 years (I love holding that over his head).

As for "front-loading" no, not really. I included about 5 or 6 photos, the proof of meeting and about 4 emails. He didn't take too much to the interview either. But what we did make sure of was that the photos we took were not just smiling for the camera, it was having fun with his family and each other. I did send a personal letter for him to give the CO from me and one from my sister representing our family. I sent him a few additional emails, 2 months of chat-logs and two months of my phone records...that's it. I think the most important thing to remember at the interview is to talk through the answers, not just yes or no. And to be attentive and responsive. I am convinced they look at body language and eye contact more than listening to the answers anyway. Unfortunately, the biggest factor none of us have control over is if the CO is having a good or bad day. Sadly, there are a lot of people who just get denied unjustly. I feel awful celebrating knowing how hard it was for Monica. But, hopefully she gets that turned around quickly.

Good luck to you...hopefully you have a quick and painless experience.

Middle East and North AfricaCasa Interview Today

I am hoping and praying it will be good news and I do not want make you worry or think anything different. I will say, like others, until the Visa is in hand, you never know. There was man on here not long ago, who left his passport and was called to return and when he did they returned the passport and denied. I do not know the reason, so it could have been something they found and an isolated situation.

Keeping my fingers crossed

Thank you...I need all the finger crossing and prayers I can get right now. I definitely will not stop stressing or get a good night's sleep until he has a visa in his hands. I am just trying to stay sane and keep pushing back. I am waiting to hear if my Congressman got any information, then I think I will call the Senator's office. It's so nervewracking. Hopefully yours is smooth sailing :)

I wouldn't wait....just asking the results shouldn't cause problems...and that way you know what they are doing with it. Cuz I know sometimes APs can be sent back to the US (correct me if i'm wrong ppl)...so its best to keep it in the embassy if u can, if they are considering that. And they may tell your senator or congressman more than they tell u. Can't hurt to have them on board either way. I regret not contacting mine right after the 1st interview. I say, better to be safe, then sorry :)

Good Point! I am faxing my congressman right now to see if he can make an inquiry for me. I guess it can't hurt.

Thanks for the positive thoughts too Sarah. I am hopeful that we hear something quickly. Hopefully you hear something soon too!...the waiting is so difficult. Or maybe I am just way too impatient. :)

I will keep you all posted!

Middle East and North AfricaCasa Interview Today

Atleast they kept his passport....that should be a good sign. But just know, you never know with Casa. We were told we were in AP also, and then called in for a 2nd interview & refused. So it can go either way. Keep your hopes up and stay on top of the embassy. I always got the most information when I called. And your senator or congressman may be able to help also. Best of luck to you and your fiance.

Thank you. I am thrilled that they kept the passport, but as I have seen with Casa it can still go either way. I am going to give them until Wednesday then start calling. I don't want to overdo it and have them give him a hard time. I just hate the waiting games. Hopefully we hear something soon. Until then I will just keep praying.

Thanks,
Jackie

I feel a little better now...I emailed the embassy and they actually responded within an hour. They told me that my fiance's case "requires additional administrative processing. We will notify him once the processing is complete" So, I feel a little more positive...hopefully just a little time in AP. Until then, I will just keep praying!

Middle East and North AfricaCasa Interview Today
My fiance had his interview in Casa this morning, but I am a little confused and wondering if anyone else had a similar situation  . I don't have all the details yet because I am at work but I will see if I can get more from him later. He said the interview went well and they asked him a lot of detailed questions, but did not give him much of a hard time. In the end they gave him slip of paper without anything but his name and interview date on it and told him they would contact him. They did keep all of his paperwork, pictures and his passport. Does this mean they are reviewing his evidence, AP, second interview??? Not sure if I should email the embassy myself to inquire...or if I should just wait and see...

This whole thing is soooo stressful!! It is making me crazy not to know....

Middle East and North AfricaMENA men say the darndest things....
This thread keeps making me laugh...

Another thing that my husband does is confuses numbers...anytime he means to say thirty, he says thirteen, forty is fourteen....and then when I say something like that is thirty dollars, he always says...you mean like 3-0? As if I am the one who is confused  I keep trying to correct him...but he still does it all the time!

Middle East and North AfricaMENA men say the darndest things....
I love this thread, it is making me smile....my husband says so many things that just make me laugh each day. I know that accent helps too.

Like: instead of "me too" when he agrees with me...its always "so mine" it always melts my heart...
and always on the phone..."have a nice day" no matter what he always says that. I called him to tell him I would be home in five minutes..."ok, have a nice day" its just adorable.

As for the food...he is obsessed with ketchup. He puts it on EVERYTHING, unless we are making Moroccan food...pizza, chicken, eggs...and even on Thanksgiving turkey (on top of the gravy)...gotta love him.

:)
