K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDo I need to bring dollars if so how much
; They don't care how much money you have in your wallet.

Best thing to do is to change your Valuta with US Dollars.. I always have 100 bucks in cash in my wallet and a CC just in case I'm hungry or thursty or want to read juicy gossip

Have a safe flight!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhat kinda birth certificate is needed for K-1 visa interview
; I would say the longest version as it contains all the information they need.

Also make sure you have an International (English) Birth Certificate. They can print it out for you.

Good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures8 months 11 days and still no NOA2
; you might want to keep in touch with my dearest VJ friends "Monyfer", "Charlize" and "Dumb&Dumberer" who are in my friends list.

They are waiting for 8, 9 and 10 months (September and October filers). One had RFE last May and haven't heard anything back and left out in the middle, even being told to wait 60 days after RFE, and still waiting.

It took me over 7 months for my NOA2, and you'll have good support from them since you are in the same boat.

I wish you good luck and I hope you'll get approved soon!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLet me get this straight
; Copy the entire I-129f package, because -sometimes- a Service Center lose a case.

You should also copy everything from your "between NOA2 and Interview" since you need it for your interview. When you don't have a copy, they can keep your originals.

Good luck on the rest of your journey

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDidn't meet in person
; Like everybody has mentioned, if you file now, it's nothing but a waste of money (fee).

IMHO, I would say that you should visit each other and then file AND visit each other one more time, if possible, couple of times so you get to know each other in real life.

I think everybody would agree when I say that fiance(e) is different than from what you think of him/her when you are chatting online. We all have been there.

It would also be a good thing for you to go to the US first and see what it's like and see if you can used to this other life style. Otherwise you may fall into this black hole because it's all very overwelming.

Good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI think I'm being a paranoid polly....
; the OP is talking about the everage time of NOA1 and that he doesn't want to wait longer than 1 month.

Please, give it some time and if you haven't heard anything after 3 weeks, contact USCIS.

Normally USCIS is only fast with cashing checks $$$ :pop:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoes it matter if he visited me only once?
; make sure you have all the proof to show them that your relationship is real. Embassy dont care if you met just once that much, as long if you have MET! :star:

The more you met, the more proof you have.. but still, they might ask some more questions, maybe not.

As long you have all your documents and proof of ongoing relationship and confidence, you should be alright

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPast Arrest for Drug Posession-Visa Denial?
; Be honest at all times. you lie + you cry = banned for life

Be prepared that the CO may ask your fiance a hell lot more questions and they will be more strict. Though, the Embassy peeps are defending the US border and they are strict when there is drugs involved, whether it's in the PAST or future.

And even though he hasn't been convicted, his police record will show. And ofcourse the Embassy needs his police record, otherwise no Visa can be granted. It says in the guide lines as anywhere else here on VJ.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWELCOME TO THE US!!!!

That is a GREAT story of Success!! Welcome and hope you don't suffer from Culture shock too much. I hope the process goes as smooth for my Fiance when she gets here. Hopefully only another month or two.

Thank you so much!! I think I won't have that much of a culture shock since I've been in the US for 4 months from March-July (we were waiting on our NOA2 together ) and I've been very lucky and blessed that I visited Aaron often in the past 1.5 year since we've known each other.

We actually got this house together last June and I decorated it before I left back to the Netherlands to have our interview. So, we were already settled. That's a plus :innocent:

It's just a great feeling not worrying about the time-limit of B2 Visa and I actually am allowed to stay with him (L).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWELCOME TO THE US!!!!
WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH, YESSSSSSS, I AM HOME!!!!

It's such a good feeling that it's almost ridiculous

After a long "bottom" flight from Amsterdam to Iceland, Iceland to JFK, JFk to Pittsburgh, I am finally home. As you can see, JFK was my POE. During my flights I was soooooo nervous, but I learned that as soon as I was questioned by the Officer, my confidence showed up :star:

Our plane landed as first from other International flights, so there was no line  . The woman said I can choose one Officer and I walked to a desk with a guy that seemed very nice to me, lol! And he was. I told him that I am a K1 and showed him my Visa. He asked for the big envelope and he looked thru it and put some stamps in it. He then asked me to follow him to an Immigration Officer.

I had to sit down and wait for them to call my name, thank goodness I was the only one there so I waited for like 5-10 min or so.
The Officer called my name and started to ask questions:

OFFICER: Your access got denied May 2010, why?!
ME: I explained that I travelled to the US before that time and never had to show anything, and that time I didn't bring any proof either.
OFFICER: So that's the only reason why your access got denied?
ME: I told him that I wasn't honest about my relationship with Aaron that time. I said that he was friend, instead of, at that time, my boyfriend :bonk:
OFFICER: Have you met him before your access got denied?
ME: I told him: like I said earlier, I've been to the US before to meet him. So yes!
OFFICER: At that time, was it your intention to marry him?
ME: I said no, if I really wanted to marry him on a B2 Visa, I would have married him during one of my visits.
OFFICER: Good answer.
OFFICER: So, during the time you were working at this company?

ME: Yes
OFFICER: What does your fiance do for a living?!
ME: I told him what my fiance is doing for a living
OFFICER: Is this the address you are going to stay, and is it Aaron's address?
ME: YES
OFFICER: Who decided to get married, you or Aaron?
ME: I told the Officer that we BOTH decided to get married
OFFICER: Very good answer
OFFICER: You know you need to get married within 90 days, right?

ME: I told him that we are going to get married by the end of this month.
OFFICER: You are all settled, and good luck and welcome in the USA

It all took +/- 20 min (included the waiting) So, I can say it was a breeze!

I WOULD LIKE TO THANK EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU WHO HELPED ME WHENEVER I NEEDED HELP!

It has been a long, sometimes rough, year. But it was WORHT IT!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs it possible for my fiancee to Submit I-129F to USCIS even we have not meet yet???
; File after the engagement. It's one of the requirements...
Channah&AaronFemaleNetherlands2011-08-15 17:38:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresExpedite request denied, background check under way
; I haven't seen a case that has been expedited due financial reasons  , so most likely, they won't expedite your case.

My tip, get your financial act together. Most people here are dealing with financial issues and this process isn't cheap, but try to manage to meet the financial requirements and get in the waiting line.

As your criminal background, you sent in some documents, you've been honest about it. They might ask for extra documents if not all presented (RFE) and/or your case can be delayed.

IMHO: they won't deny your case, because like we all know and have seen, are cases that were worse than yours and still got approved.

Good luck!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow soon can we marry once he goes through POE?
; Hey doll!!

LOL @ posting this topic in a Student Forum  too cute!! :innocent:

Evey State has it's own requirements and most Beneficiaries are taking their Passport as ID to get a Marriage Lisence. Though, like others have said, some did have problems getting one due to not having a SSN.

If he can use his Passport without a SSN, you can get married in the same week if you wanted to. Although you have set up a date already.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAOS - where are the border crossing papers!?!?!?!
; I agree with other members have said.

You should start AOS and don't wait on the papers, which won't be send to you but to the USCIS.

I had my POE last week, and they are going to send my sealed envelope to USCIS. All I received was a I-94 form in my passport.

Good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEngaged via email, wearing no wedding ring.
; the USCIS/Embassy/Consulate don't care a thing about not having an engagement ring, as long as you're engaged, and it doesn't matter either that you guys got engaged thru E-mail!! Don't worry about that!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLifetime Ban From Entering the U.S.?

Thanks for the advice Channah&Aaron,

But I don't do drugs and I am 99.9% sure that my fiancee doesn't do drugs either.

This is getting to be like a Tabloid here :-)

No drug story to get all excited about here. Sorry.

I was asking about all the other beaurocratic traps that might exist to add excitment and a sense of purpose and a tingling sensation to the beaurocrats who like to destroy lives.

Anyone have a list, in plain English?

notmuch88tosay

P.S. I should've put in my post that it wasn't meant for you, saying you or fiancee do drugs. That is what I figured out at the beginning of this post  .

Mine was offtopic but some VJ members were duscussing that, and I wanted to give my two cents

There might be, well there are other beaurocratic traps, but maybe we shouldn't pay that much attention to it since it's mobbing the floor with the water running :bonk: .

Channah&AaronFemaleNetherlands2011-08-26 22:19:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan my tourist visa be turned down at POE if I have an ongoing K1 application

Yes, they can deny you entry even if it is a valid tourist visa. They can also bar you from entering the U.S. for 10 years This is not true. You can only get a 10 year ban for serious misrepresentation, or overstaying for a very very long time. You can't get a bar when you are entering the US with the intention to visit your Fiance(e). . Or they can let you in Once again, nothing wrong to visit your fiance(e) during K1 process, they might ask you some more questions. Just be honest. I know the odds that they will bar you are probably pretty low but when you enter the U.S. while the visa process is ongoing they can easily see it as though you have abandoned the visa process and have decided to give up on immigrating legally, so you are just trying to immigrate ilegally on a valid tourist visa. The bar you will have is pretty low?? You have that in your own hands, as long as you're being honest to every question they ask and show them strong proof to your home country..

My fiance and I thought about having him come back here while we waited out the visa but our lawyer strongly advised against it (he has a lot of experience in K1s and he didn't overcharge us). He said that you had about a 30% chance of being let in. The big problem is that if they don't let you in you have to book an immediate flight home (which will cost at least $1,000) and you don't even get to see your fiance. Your lawyer was wrong, you are allowed to visit your fiance(e) during a K1 process, there is no such law that says you can't. Make sure if you decide to go you bring STRONG proof or having to return home (you would think and interview for a visa approval would be enough but it really isnt). My fiance lives with his parents and has a temp job; he would have probably been denied on the spot! I know being apart is terrible but it is just part of the process. If you have the money to burn and don't mind taking the risk, then go for it, but just be aware of the consequences. He wouldn't get denied, and he could have brought a letter from employer stating what he does and when he expect him to come back to work, even though it was only for 3 more weeks. And 99% of the people here haven't burned their money by visiting their fiance(e).

I hope this helps! Not really, you make VJ members more scared than they should be!
