Congrats to all who have made it through the process.... I have been off line for a few days as I am in Jamaica now and my laptop chose to freeze up on me....BUT now I have it working and thought I better check in. Good news....I the weather has been good, Bad news....I am ending my journey. I only say bad because my heart is a bit hurting now but in the long run I know this is a good thing. Kev and I had a great first 2 days together going out partying the first then out in country with his family the next then it all went to hell. Don't ask me what happened because for the life of me....I don't know. I just know that the way he handles differences of opinions it will NEVER work in the USA. He used jealousy as an excuse to cause issues between us....I beleive it was an excuse...whatever the reason... I am too old to be going though this ######. Well....I need to log off because I am not spending my last night in the hotel... Heading to a bar on the beach---no worries...I have a companion....nothing more!! Nothing like going though a breakup in jamaica!!!! always someone to make you feel betta!!!! Sorry guys...just trying to keep from crying crying.gif

Keep your head up....maybe your relationship can still be "rescued" but either way be safe and no you're not alone... smile.gif

Those words/phrases mentioned above are "slang words" so yes they will/might not be around next year. Thats like looking at a teenager and saying "that's fresh" they would give you a blank stare. Some of you reading that phrase might be giving me a blank stare too. lol whistling.gif

Bottom line patios is mainly a spoken language and when writing its spelled phonetically - meaning you spell it the way its pronouced. Hence the spelling changes/variations. and the beauty of it all is that it is a dialect of english. and as long as the person slows down so u can pick up the words individually, you should have no problem.

at least patios is a spoken language...I had to learn Latin for 7 years and that language is dead like herring and only written

Well I say it is a great book. It was recomeded to my by an American who know lives in Jamaica with her husband. She has lived their 10 years now. I know it helped me out a lot. Everyone is shocked that I understand spoken patios real well. When they ask my hubby that I really know what they are saying he says yes. Plus I can speak it but he gets embrassed if I do. I spoke patios to his good friend once and he was in shock and laughing so hard because he thought I didn't understand. The book helped me out a lot. The little tourist books don't help. I recomeded it to any one. I would give it 3 1/2 stars since it might go out of date. smile.gif!!

Who knows where an RGD (RDG?, I always forget!) office is for someone in Ochi to get their non-impediment form. I saw a girl ask on another thread. Please give specifics if you know as her fianace hasn't a clue.

Thanks for trying to help me out with the RGD stuff earlier. Someone sd we might have to go to Kingston if the one in Ochi has odd hours or doesn't do some of the requests at that location. Oh well, I'm still working on it...

You're welcome. If you have the time, I would definitely visit the RGD in Kingston. I'm off to Jamaica on Sunday. My hubby's interview is on Tuesday. Please pray for us.

You make a good point about going to the RGD in Kingston. That's probably our best bet.

Good luck with the interview on Tuesday....I'm sure you'll do fine. I'll be pulling for ya'! kicking.gif

OK now....

Can we get a Thursday Chuckle today??? I think we all need a little something to lighten the mood. In no way is it sweeping it under the rug BUT.... I think this issue/situation has beed tackled from all angles and now it is time to let the parties involved deal with their pain. I have no doubt that they are both aware that EVERYONE on this board is there for support and if need be .... can be addressed again one on one.... but...we have many people who are at different stages of journey's and would like to get back to status's or questions about other issues. If I am wrong please forgive my assumptions but I am ready to move on to another topic.

Wow...I musta missed a lot since last night! Anyways.....I've been reading pages and pages of posts about this Lilly/Nikki thing and to both women involved it is very sad if this Corey character mislead both of them. I won't comment on the situation cause' it seems like anything and everything I would have said....has already been said by now.

However, I see both women have "talked" to each other about this but seems like the focus should be more on the MAN etc. Since we don't know what he's up to right now, it's a little hard to give any real advice to either of these women. Unfortunately, stuff like this upsets all of us because we've all seen this type of stuff before and we want to believe that nothing like this could really happen to us. I know I want to believe that but I'm smart enough to know....it does happen whether he's from JA , USA or wherever!

Hopefully these ladies will recover from all of this and make choices they can live with. I don't know them personally but I know these posts probably caused them a whole LOT more pain, stress etc. Is there really anyone to blame in a situation like this once everyone is in your business? Probably not.

I vote to keep it movin and just pray that both ladies are o.k........

I went to the interview and hubby flew to the states by himself. It was his first plane flight and he did well. He didn't want me to spend anymore money.

It seems like most SO's do fine flying here by themselves, especially if they've flown before like your fiance (to JaLove) but i guess it's a personal choice. I know my fiance has never been outta JA so flying alone might create some anxiety so I might chose to fly in with him?! wacko.gif Maybe I can convince him to do it alone.....and try to save us some money! smile.gif

My hubby was looking up bands who play at the Chicago Jamaican club wild hair and he found two of his former friends who use to play music with him at Holiday INN Sunspree in Mo Bay. So he went to the Wild Hair Club tonight to see his friends play and I guess he is going to get to play with them. They told him they may need a bass player. Really its just nice to know that he has some friends close by with so he can JAM. When I have a Tuesday night free I want to go and see his friends play. Tuesday is one of the only free days at the Wild Hair. Anyways sorry to blab on and on. Its a small world after all. whistling.gif

It really is. We were in a JA restaurant the other day and I just happened to pick up a flyer for a concert in Dec. here in Philly and my SO was like "see mi cousin deh". I was like "what". So he call him and he came over and they were able to catch up. They haven't seen each other in over 10 yrs. I was just happy that he knew someone until I realized that he is a stone cold RASTA and he stank up my couch smelling like ganja damn near giving me a contact mad.gif

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusInterview scheduled, Moscow hotel?? and getting a SSN
Tanya wanted to go to Moscow for the day too, but she needs the medical screening a day or two before the interview. October 21 is a WEdnesday, so if she could schedule the med screening the day before in the afternoon at some time she could get to Moscow in the morning, spend a night and get up for the interview the next morning @ 0800, and be on a plane later in the afternoon. I imagine this could work. However could she get a med exam in her town? I cannot imagine this is true, but I wanted to ask. I am sure there are only few places that are " US sanctioned" medical offices, and I imagine they are all in Moscow or St Pete.

She is coming from Kemerovo, Russia in Siberia.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusInterview scheduled, Moscow hotel?? and getting a SSN
Tanya has her interview date for October 21 at 0800. We are both very excited for all this to happen so fast. I cannot believe how fast this is happening. I gotta clean the bathroom. Ha ha. Anyway, she has not received the packet of info from the US embassy in Moscow just yet, but I am sure it will be there soon. I am ready for a backup plan anyway with all the necessary documents (tax statements, letter from employer, etc…). So when should I send the second I-129 petition info with all originals? I imagine I can send this once Tanya receives her packet from the embassy.

So I was curious if any of you could tell me how many days your loved one stayed in Moscow for the interview and med exam. One of Tanya’s friends who used to live in Moscow has moved so now we have to think about a hotel for the time she is there. Can any of you recommend anything close to the embassy for a few days? Tanya insists on paying for this herself, but that doesn’t fly well with me, so I will be helping, but she is just looking for a place to lay her head at night while she is there. Any ideas? Or do any of you know anyone who could help her out? I imagine hotels in Moscow are through the roof for a night, but of course all this is necessary.

I realize she needs to have a medical exam before the interview, and I am sure this will be in here packet from the embassy, but of course she will have to make the appointment. Once she does have the med exam will she be given her shots record as well? Reading through the guides here it seems she DEFINITELY needs to have the original vaccination record when she enters the US.

One more question…. A friend of mine who brought his wife here from China said he wished he would have gotten paperwork together, and submitted the application for his wife’s Social Security Number before she got here. He could not remember, but he said it might be able to be done the same time as getting the visa. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks so much for your help guys and girls.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusInterview in 1 week, but no police report!!!!
So Tanya and I are down to one week until her interview, but she has not received her up to date police report. She has one that is about 9 months old, and requested the newest one 2 months ago, and the report has not arrived yet. This is the only document we are missing, and this is really out of our hand. Not really sure why this is taking so long, but what can we do? Should she still go to the interview even though we are missing this document? Everything else is in order, and ready for the interview. We thought about trying to reschedule, but at this point in the game would she be waiting another couple months for an interview? I have a feeling this would be the case. Let me know any advice, or experience you all have with this. thanks.
Chris MMale02010-10-14 06:17:00
Russia, Ukraine and BelarusInterview tomorrow October 21!!!!!
So i am talking to Tanya now and she said the people in the medical exam office told her she could not go to the interview because she did not have her vaccination records as a child and teen. Anyone ever heard of this? So to make a long depressing story even worse she did not go to the interview. I cannot believe this!!!! So she is trying to see what she can do to get these vaccination records she does not have. She called her father, with whom she lived with for a time, to see if he has them, but it does not look good. why would this even happen? I thought the medical exam was a formality where she just gets her results and goes to the interview.

so I am in the process of writing an email to the Moscow embassy to ask them about rescheduling the interview. I still do not know why she didn't go, but if someone told me I could not go to an interview because I didn't have the right paperwork I would probably do the same and not go. I know the next interview date could be two more months away, and at this point is fine, but will they look down on this because she did not show for the interview?

I need some desperate help here. what do we do now? We have no idea where we go from here. Please help

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusInterview tomorrow October 21!!!!!
Well I finally heard from Tanya. She came home last night, and immediately went to work. From time to time her internet will get shut off if she has not paid in advance, so while she was gone the internet was shut off. So we are finally back online. Yay!!!!

So the real story is she said she needed to present her vaccination records from when she was a child. What the hell is this about? I didn't think she needed any of this now, and she does not have this available. I haven't seen my vaccination records for 25 years!!!! why would she need these? What can we do? Tanya is working on this from her end, but she is scared and dpressed because we are at this dead end. Anyone with any ideas would be helpful. I have no idea.

Until this is completed we are dead in water. we both do not know how to proceed. any help please.

Yup, it will all be good. I'm sure she would have called if it was more serious. Her text said not to worry, so I'm not going to worry, as much as I would like to. I think what happened was her medical exam was later in the day, the day before her 0800 interview. She probably didn't have the results ready for the interview the next morning. I'll find out more when she gets back home, but for now I am confident all is OK. :)
Chris MMale02010-10-22 20:59:00
Russia, Ukraine and BelarusInterview tomorrow October 21!!!!!
I wish I knew wh10 words on a text are not that helpful. I am hoping she had the interview, and they took her passport, but I do not know. I was going to text her to ask, but at the same time I am not sure if I want to know because then I will try to quarterback this whole thing from 7000 miles away. ha ha. I'd rather just talk to her when she comes back, and try to relax about all this. I imagine she knows what she has to do. She also has tomorrow to work on anything she needs as well. Hopefully the embassy is open tomorrow if she needs anything.

What would happen if she went to the interview, but they didn't take her passport? I would hate for her to go back to Moscow one more time. Also gets quite expensive as I am sure you are all very aware.

No, certainly not buying any plane tickets. That's rule number 1.

Unfortunately I do not know the details, but her text messages were calm, and told me not to worry, so I am going to stay calm, and not worry. LOL. I'm sure she is handling this. I just hope they let her interview today. the exam results can be sent to the embassy when they are available.

I have so little information about all this, that I cannot tell you all anything. I'll have to wait until I see her on webcam Monday. The worse thing I can do is speculate and wonder what is going on. It's out of my control and completely in her's so I will let her do her thing. I'll keep you all posted, and thanks for the ideas.
Chris MMale02010-10-21 12:59:00
Russia, Ukraine and BelarusInterview tomorrow October 21!!!!!
Just got text from Tanya, and she said she did not get the visa today. She only sent me a text which said the med exam was not good, and we will talk when she gets back home in 5 days. Also said not to worry about it. The medical exam was scheduled for yesterday, and she arrived yesterday, so I do not know what time she had the exam, so maybe she missed the exam, or it was not enough time to get the results of the tests. Maybe the exam was in the afternoon yesterday, and she could not get the results in time. Her interview was at 0800 Moscow time today.

What kind of medical screening do they actually do there? I imagine they take blood, and run tests, but I am not sure. Anyone ever have this happen to them? From her very minimal text messages it sounds like it was a problem with the medical. Would they let her interview even though the medical results were not in hand?

Excited about this, but at the same time a little nervous. I know she will do fine, but of course there is a little apprehension. Wesubmitted the petition back in May, and did not have any hiccups along the way. No RFE's or any issues that needed to be addressed. It is exciting that tomorrow we should know. I cannot believe how fast the process has gone, and I am hopeful we will be together soon. Thanks to all of you for your help with setting me straight during this process. I cannot thank you all enough.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusPlease help! Med exam told my fiancee she could not go to interview because she did not have her adolescent vaccination records!!!!! She never went
My concern is, will the documents get sent back to the USA if we do not do this soon? I am looking at my NOA 2 now and it says the approval notice is good from July 30 to November 30. I imagine after this date the petition would get sent back to the USA. So we essentially have a month to get this scheduled? although what happens if the interview is scheduled past November 30, which I think will probably happen. Uh oh. Although maybe once you have the interview scheduled I imagine they would hold on to the documents. I guess we will have to work fast since we are on a time crunch now. Any thoughts?

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusPlease help! Med exam told my fiancee she could not go to interview because she did not have her adolescent vaccination records!!!!! She never went
OK, I just got off the phone with the embassy, and the girl said we needed to send the documents to them, and a reason as to why we need to reschedule the interview. I did not understand this, and the person helping me did not know much, and tried to hang up the phone with me several times. Tanya was sent the papers a month or so ago for her to fill out and take with her to the interview. Although I took everyone's advice and printed these and did them ourselves. So she has them in her possession now, but it sounds like we need to send these to the embassy. I was given the fax number, so I am guessing we can send them that way. Tanya already completed these, so we might only have to send them in, and tell them why we need to reschedule.

Does this make sense? The girl was very nice, but very excited to get off the phone with me. ha ha. I understand she is just the "messenger," but there was not much information. I am hoping my assumption is right. let me know.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusPlease help! Med exam told my fiancee she could not go to interview because she did not have her adolescent vaccination records!!!!! She never went
Things are good here. We talked about it, and apparently the doctor would not let her get a physical at all. She was very detailed in the story, and I was not in her shoes, so we are moving forward now. she was very depressed, and I am sure if i was there for her things may have gone differently. I sent emails to the embassy to get the interview rescheduled, and actually am calling in an hour to see what the status is. I called yesterday, and they said to call 24 hours later. So I'm calling to see what happened. However I am going to talk to Tanya about going to Moscow to be with her the next time. It's only right I am there for her.

So we are just going to work through this. We were hoping for Christmas, but there's always next Christmas. :)

See I am really trying to give here the benefit of the doubt too. I don't want to be all investigative on her, but at the same time I need to ask her, but also do the leg work myself. She is 11 hours ahead of me here in PA, so when she was leaving for the airport we talked for 10 minutes at 4 in the afternoon here, 0300 her time. She was going to the airport. It is about an hour train ride, and her plane was leaving early. I can ask her for her ticket, but this could tick her off a little. I think it would tick me off as well.

I mean she arrived Wednesday sometime and then had to find the medical building and do a physical, then be ready for an interview the next day and find the embassy. The problem with calling the clinic is I do not speak Russian. so might be a little useless. ha ha. I would have much rather went a day or two in advance as well, but she works hard, and I know she got to Kemerovo late last night, then went to work today.

I think the biggest thing now is not to question her trust, but to question what we need to do now. Of course I have questions of why this and why that, but what's done is done and we both have to work through this and get to the next step. So tonight I will call the embassy and try to get her interview rescheduled, not worry about the vaccination record, or maybe even ask them about this, maybe think about going to Moscow to meet up with her, and just try to work through this. I think I am getting warped with thinking she is not being true when I know she is. I do not have ALL the facts just yet, so I think I need to get these first and move from there.

Well to put this in to perspective I sent her a one-time $1500. $550 of this was for the plane to Moscow, which I can confirm cost this much. $350 for the visa and another $160 for the physical. So right there we are over a grand. Of course the visa was not granted, but it's not entirely too much, and that is the second time. The other time was for our meeting in Egypt. It's not that much in the grand scheme of things. She has never, I repeat NEVER, asked for money. Even 6 months ago when her sister tore a tendon and the family did not have money for the operation. I offered to help because I have talked to her sister several times, and wanted to help, but she did not want anything. She told me not to send anything because it is not my problem. I tried to help, but she would not let me. that has to count for something, right?

I am going to call the embassy late tonight as soon as they open in Moscow to get the interview rescheduled. I just have this huge pit in my stomach right now. We were on our way to seeing each other by Christmas, but we will have to wait a little longer. I realize it is a difference in cultures. I myself would have gone to the interview, but again cultures, and me not being in Tanya's shoes. Ultimately this could work out better. I just accepted a new job yesterday with a new company, so at this rate by the time she gets here I would be settle in to my new job, and there is opportunity to work from home for a few days a week once trained, so this could work out. Either way I know things will work out, but having reservations about this incident I think is normal. She is a great girl. I forgot to mention she bought dolls for my two nieces as well, she also has an email relationship with my mom, sister, 3 aunt's and 2 cousins. I think she just was confused. It's not like we do this every day, and without you all here I don't know where I would be right now. Chicken without a head comes to mind. ha ha. I will talk to her more when I see her tonight. I'll be much more relaxed I'm sure.

How much money are you sending her every month? Did you buy her a new pair of boots or a coat lately? How did she feed herself before you came along?

I gave it the benefit of the doubt at first but now I would be VERY suspicious.

None, I don't send her anything every month. I sent her money for the interview in Moscow, and that's it. We sent small, very small, gifts back and forth, but we always kept in mind that when we were together we would do nicer things. If sending post cards and refrigerator magnets is a scam then I am guilty. I think she sent me more things. Nesting doll, handmade stein, handmade plate from tree bark, framed pictures, etc... I gave her a hundred dollar iPod in Egypt, and I forgot to mention I sent her more peanut butter because she loved the peanut butter I brought to Egypt. Maybe she loves me for my peanut butter.

She DID NOT go to the interview. Not sure why just yet, but she didn't.

I don't understand why she would be scamming me. As with your significant others I do not know the whole situation. I don't know what the scam is here. It's not like I am dumb enough to send her $10,000. I know you all are not trying to pass judgment, and just looking out for my best interest, and ultimately my heart. I just don't think this is possible. Maybe she had cold feet, but at the same time I would have went to the interview too with or without any papers.

Where is this other person who was scammed like this? Is there a post for him/her? I just want to see if there are any similarities here.

Well this helps. I just wish this would have been on the embassy website. I know I would have made sure she had this when she went, or she would have had this done as well.

As far as not going to the interview, you are correct in saying, 'this is water under the bridge." We will just have to work through it.

I tried to call the embassy, but the line was busy and I am on a call now at work. I will try first thing in the morning, or even really late tonight. They close in 8 minutes for the day.

I hope they did not send the petition back to the USA yet!!!!

Email to the embassy has been sent to reschedule the interview. I hope it's not too late. She was schedule for last Thursday, so I am hoping this is not the case. What would happen if they sent the documents back to the USA? I imagine we would have to start from the beginning. I cannot imagine how awful that would be.

I think we both were so used to not contacting each other using the phone that we didn't think about it. Dumb on both our parts. I was trying to let her handle these things herself, but I will be calling next time.

I certainly do not think she is scamming me. We have been talking for a year and a half, and I have barely given her any money at all. So I cannot pass this kind of judgment on her. Of course I am a little skeptical, but at this stage I really cannot be. I think this was just a mistake.

Thanks all. Believe me I have thought about my skepticism as well. I just think she didn't know, and I am not so sure I would have known either. Not trying to make excuses for her, but who knows. What would I have done? But believe me I am a little cautious. However it is not like I have sent her thousands of dollars. I think this is normal that my mind is running around in circles. I love this girl, and I believe she loves me very much too. At the same time we are thousands of miles away from each other, and you never know. I don't want to start questioning her trust, but at the same time I think I have to. To her defense though I am not in her shoes. We need to talk out what actually happened before I start passing judgment.

Her interview was for a K-1 visa, and if she doesn't have the vaccinations for the next time she goes to the interview, and they tell her the same thing then I'm gonna be really pissed. So I think we need to have her go to a school and get the vaccination documentation just for peace of mind.

I am just hoping the next interview will not be too far off. I still am in a little shock as to this whole process, but I am trying to calm down a little before I start drilling Tanya with questions. That would not be fair to her, and could be a recipe for a break-up. So I just want to talk to her. I'm just anxious.

I just don't know why they didn't give her all the vaccinations on the spot. Now we have to reschedule, buy another plane ticket and worry about accommodation in Moscow. Maybe she misunderstood them or something.

Can you all read my letter to the embassy too? do you think this will be frowned up on now? I am just so lost. we were hoping to be together by Christmas, and of course this is shot down. Mind is racing right now.

Does this sound OK for the Moscow embassy????? I left out Tatiana's last name here.

My fiancee, Tatiana, had her interview scheduled on October 21 at 0800. She went to her medical exam the day before the interview, and was told she needed to have her vaccination records from when she was a child. She was told she cannot go to the interview because she did not have the vaccination records which is why she was not at the interview on the scheduled day. Is this true that she needs vaccination records when her younger days? I thought we had everything in order for the interview and the medical exam was just something we needed to do as a formality to have vaccinations and blood work done.

At any rate we need to reschedule the interview, and we realize this could be some time, but we are extremely lost as to what to do now. She does not have these records, so we do not know how to proceed. Could this stop her from getting an interview? We are both very confused right now. Please help.

Thank you very much for your help.
