I did an updated one for our interview, re-used much of the same information and proof, just added more up to date proof.

Thanks JG,

That was my thought too....do another one this month and just bring all the 2007 stuff with me to the interview.

Should we bring the pictures, copies of flight info, boarding passes etc. from my November and February Trips too? I'm thinking it won't hurt since I only had 2 trips under my belt back when we filed and now I've been down 4 times - total? blink.gif

I would think that since I'm there in person I could just use my passport to "prove" I've been back there anyways, Right? LOL

Isn't that just part of men being men? They don't know what they got till it's gone. And they somehow think this tactic will make everything better.

I'm loving the comments on the men and the gynocologists too. Such rude comments. Sometimes I want to say, STHU.......funny, you don't have these issues when YOU want to touch it.

DWLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL (aint that the TRUTH).

JG -- I was so embrassed. The doctor stretch his hand across the bed and my EX refused to shake it. Instead he give the doctor the "HEAD NOD". I wanted to WRING his neck. My mom was standing at the end of the bed, so she shook the doctor's hand.

HEY EVERYONE!

Sorry I can't contribute much about children, their dads and how they get along with our men from JA....I never crossed that bridge just yet since i'm not a Mom (LOL) but wanted to ask anyone who might know....

DO I HAVE TO DO A NEW AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT FOR THE INTERVIEW OR SHOULD I JUST BRING ALL MY "UPDATED" supporting INFO LIKE Taxes, Retirement statements, W-2's etc. My initial aff. of support is from October but I'm sure they'll want more recent info.

I can get things notarized easily here at work in the hospital....just curious since all my info is still the same?

Hey ladies....question about this interview stuff. I know everyone's off to bed but I'll be back on tomorrow to see if anyone posted answers to my questions. LOL

When me and Dave go to this interview, don't we have to pay some Fee at Paymaster or something BEFORE the interview??? When should we do that? I know there's a fee for the K-1 that's about $100 or something that you pay before the interview.....Can somebody fill me in on where/ how we do that? I know we pay for the visa processing as well, after the interview but I need info on that other fee.

If anyone knows, post it or PM me. Thanks all!

you can go anytime BEFORE the interview....they will give you a reciept that you paid for it...you will need to show that when you go for the interview

good night everyone.....sweet dreams....

So we pay this BEFORE the interview and then take the receipt to the interview with us? Do we need the Appointment Letter or anything else to go and Pay For This?

I think the new Fee is $130 from what I saw on the Embassy Website wacko.gif helpsmilie.gif

Is PayMaster something that's all over JA or something we have to go to Kingston to Pay? Just curious cause I can have Dave go and Pay it next week before I get down there etc.

Anyone who knows or remembers this part....PM me or I'll check in again tomorrow.
Thanks Fam!

YW.....on that same note about paying for pretty useless stuff, I just had a meltdown with the phone company. Well, first with my husband and then with the phone company.

Tell me you all don't hate when those unexpected charges happen on your phone bills....... Just got ours via the internet and I see this stupid charge on there that wasn't there last month. It's on Andre's cell phone, so I call him and ask him to find out about it. Mind you, he's at home and I'm at work. So he calls the number listed and they tell him he must call AT&T billing. So, he calls them and the woman there is not understanding what he is saying and can't even find the charge. So, he calls me and tells me I MUST call them. I was good until then. Then, I had one of those why am I the one who has to clean every GD thing up all the time.......I blew!

After I calmed down, I called and after only 3 transfers and repeating the same info. over and over and over again, found someone who could do something. Ringtone. Stupid FREE ringtones which have such small print and always say you are signing yourself up for a monthly charge. He never gets this aspect of FREE stuff. I said he UNintentionally signed up for that and she said it's impossible to unintentionally sign up for it cause you have to go through 4 screens to do so. I very nearly lost it again. Such ####### the way they try and trick you. And, if you don't watch the phone bill like a hawk, they slip so many additional charges in there.

Well, I took care of it. I also blocked text messages to and from both our phones and internet access. All stuff we don't need that keep getting used. I'm so tired of people texting me at 40 cents a text or whatever it is when they can just call me on my already included in the plan FREE minutes.

Whew......I feel better now. Thanks for listening.

This happened to me and one of my exes a couple years ago so I know EXACTLY how you feel!

We had our cellphone plans together on Sprint and the bill was in my name. I would always see these extra $4-5 a month charges for texts and never knew where they were coming from. Finally, I Realized the "Ex" had "signed up" for these so-called FREE Ringtones and different companies were sending him these ringtones, games, internet stuff everyday for like 35cents a day???!!! wacko.gif

Of course he thought it was "all good" until I took text messaging off his phone and left him with a one-way! laughing.gif laughing.gif

Yeah....I feel your plight! LOL

Also, what is a choice of agent and how do I get this form so he can turn this into them as well. Thanks everyone, I appreciate all the advice!

Welcome LAPrincess. Congrats on your case getting to Kingston. The choice of agent is the person in the states who the beneficiery elect to receive their mail and all correspondence from the NVC and Kingston. Seeing that the mail system in the US is "better" than in most foreign countries, that is the best choice. I think you have to email the embassy to get a date/appointment to drop off the DS-230. Hola...

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaPOE Miami
I came thru Miami, and since I had only read bad reviews about it I decided to get a ticket with 5 hours layover in Miami (coming from Venezuela). I wont say that the immigration lines were short or any of the sort. But I guess the person organizing the lines knew something about K1’s or K3’s. I was carrying the X rays, so I guess he flagged me, he came and checked my I-94 for any mistakes, and sent me to the Citizen’s line which was SO much shorter.

The customs officers took my “brown envelope”, opened it, and congratulated me for my wedding, stamped some papers and sent me to secondary inspection. I got a lil’ nervous there, because there was a woman with a child, and a guy, the guy was getting some “lip service” from a couple of officers who didn’t look too happy. The lady and the kid were getting grilled with questions. When an officer signaled me to come closer I almost started crying. But then he started joking, literally joking with me about the wedding, about why was I marrying an American, and so and so. He proceeded to tell me all about the K1 and a lil’ explanation of AOS, stamped my passport, kept the mysterious brown envelope, and wished me good luck. All in all took around 30 mins or so. Not too shabby at all.

With all my nerves, I totally forgot to ask about the EAD stamp. But then again, some people consider it worthless. It isn’t too bad, I guess it depends on your luck, the quantity of people sent to secondary inspection that day, and the emotional state of the officers that day.

Good luck!

PS: I got there around 11 am... if this piece of information is worth something... on a Saturday

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaDESPUES DEL CERTIFICADO DE MATRIMONIO....

Buena suerte...

That's a no can do with the American Embassy in Vzla. You need the $100 convertes in Bs and in CASH!! Dont forget to bring that or they wont issue your visa until next week.

Lucyrich is right.

If you do choose to have it delivered, it will take up to three days after your interview (business days). I dont know if K3 get the brown envelope too.

When I got my visa, I received this big envelope with my passport and the brown envelope inside. I was freaked out, because they tell you so many times not to open the envelope and I thought it had even my passport inside. But no, open the biggest envelope, get you passport and DO NOT open the other envelope. That's for the immigration officer.

Good luck, hope everything goes fine!

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaLetting Him in...
Well...

I guess it all depends on how independent and comfortable he is with those assignments. I think that the library one
is not so bad, it'd actually make him try to communicate with other people. I've always been really independant, but when I came here, I got a case of the jitters. I thought that I'd get lost, and I wouldnt be able to find my way back, or that something would happen and Rob would never be able to find out. (As in, since there were absolutely no public records of my persona, I'd totally dissappear between the cracks)... I know it's silly, but your mind plays awful games.

The bus ride, well, maybe not go to another city. I'd use the bus pass just to loop around on the buses to get familiar with the layout of the city. I rode the bus, and I swear to god, I tried to memorize the things I'd seen in the way, just to try to visit those places on my next ride.

It takes a while, and like I said, even the most independent person will get a case of the jitters, and I think it's only normal.

Try not to be too hard on him...:D

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaLetting Him in...
This is definitely an interesting thread. And I might not be the best person to reply since I am the immigrating part of my relationship. But I guess it will help you guys see a little bit of the other side. And yes, I spoke English well before moving here, but it’s SO much different when you’re immersed on it, speaking and listening to English 24/7. At times I thought my head was going to explode, and some others I felt like I had a knot tied in my tongue and words wouldn’t come out the way I was thinking them.

It is a huge change to move to a new place, I am sure you’re all aware of that. Leaving family, friends and the world as you know it behind, is a huge step, but its also something your SO should think long and thoroughly before deciding on the move. Because even speaking the language, it was a pretty tough transition for me, in spite of being welcomed very warmly by his family and friends. My husband’s family couldn’t be better, even trying to find Latino groups in the area, learning about my country and my culture. Like Daniel’s friends, my husband’s friends were all so interested in meeting me and making me feel like I was another old friend. But it just happens that there are cultural differences, it just happens that when you grow up with your friends (back home), it’s pretty tough to make ‘new friends’ that have different traditions, they don’t share your highschool/college stories, and that are simply ‘different’ from what you’re used to.

And it’s true, that you have each other, it’s true that you don’t need to make new friends… but it’s only true to an extent. And both parties have to commit to trying to integrate, and trying to fit. I’ve always seen relationships as a guy and a girl, and a whole world turning between them, the magic is that the guy and a girl are holding hands and never letting go, no matter how fast or slow that world turns between them.

What did my husband do to make me feel at home?, he was there for me all the time but he also encouraged me to do things on my own (made me feel protected and independent at the same time), and when introducing me to his friends, it was never like I was special because I came from another country, I was special because he had chosen me to spend the rest of his life with him, and we did spend a lot of time together alone, taking road trips, even driving around the city so I could learn my way around, or simply hanging out at home, and oh my God, did we talk, we talked about the things I liked, I disliked, the things I’d try to get used to, the things I didn’t want to get used to, we learned and we grew, and after 18 months (more or less) we’re still learning and growing.

I hope this helped a little bit, and even though it might not be real advice, at least it’d give some insight on how it goes when you come to a new country…

Good luck to all of you and I hope you’re processes go fast and without problems.

Ana

Hey, just wondering....does anyone know if mail is moving again in Jamaica? I know the electricity had been out due to the storm last week and things are slowly coming around. Of course I sent forms etc. to my fiancé right before the storm and I'm not sure if he should expect them soon.

Hope your loved ones down there are o.k. too!

I just talked to my fiancé on Friday and he is in Clarendon. There is still no electricity there but cell signal was restored on Friday. From what I understand major businesses were restored to power and some residences but not all. As far as I know DHL and AirPak are operating. Join the Yardie thread under forums, regional, and Caribbean. We'd love to have you! Welcome to VJ and may your loved ones in Jamaica be safe!

Thanks for th info...I'm glad your fiance is o.k. too. I will definitely get in on the regional forum as well! My fiance is in Ochi and I spoke to him on Friday. I hope he gets his mail soon, if not he'll have to give me all of it in person when I'm down there in a couple of weeks! LOL

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaShould they file K-1 or K-3 Help?!
I'm in the process of filing K-1 for my fiance in Jamaica but have a friend who's also just starting the "process" and is unsure about which petition to file. Here's the scenario.....

She met and got engaged to a man from Jamaica who is already working here in the States on a work visa. His current visa expires Oct 2008 and she's unsure if they should be looking at a K-1 or a K-3 later down the road. They want to eventually get married but don't know if they are legally allowed to do that while he's already here or should they just wait until he's no longer on the work visa, wait till' he's back in Jamaica....then just file the K-1?

I've heard mixed things about all of this in the past and wasn't really sure what to tell her. It seems like it would make sense for them to get married while he's here - even if he has to return to his country for her to file the K-3 but she wants to make sure she's doing everything on the up and up.

Any advice I can give her would be helpful! smile.gif

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaHow did you organize the I-129 before you sent it?
Hey VJ crew,

I'm about to send in my packet next week after I get back from JA. Any advice on how to "organize" it or assemble it? I remember seeing a link on here about putting the packet together (i.e. cover letter, two hole punch etc.) but I can't remember where I saw it?

Any suggestions would be helpful or maybe direct me where to go for the guidelines etc.

I'll be in JA this friday to see my fiance so I'm trying to organize everything before I go. Wish me luck!

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaUK OVERSTAY ON PASSPORT 2002
QUOTE (meow mix @ Sep 21 2007, 07:53 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
As far as I know, the US doesn't care about overstays in any other countries - only things that would make you inadmissable in our country, which an overstay in the UK wouldn't do.

Yeah, that's my understanding too. As long as no US immigration laws were violated I'm sure you'll be fine.

You could try asking others in other countries what their experience was like. I know...we all know Jamaica is in it's own world when it come to the US Embassy.

I don't know of anyone who ever did direct filing in JA for the K-1.....is it only an option for K-3/ CR-1 filers?
