kool. i was applying for more jobs today. i hope i get it i think it would be perfect for me. it's with a non profit org. that does rehabilitation for disabled folks right here in gary. i will be working in the clerical dept. if i get the job. i hope the pay is reasonable.i am thinking of going back to school to due a degree in social work.

Good luck with the job search Jakes....hope u get it! I've been a hospital social worker for the last 10 years but before I had my Master's Degree in social work, and did the hospital work...I did a bunch of entry level jobs in mental health. Like Roxie pointed out, u can atleast benefit from their tuition reimbursement plan if ur still interested in social work etc.

LOL, it's always good if someone else is footing your tution bill.

I went straight thru from undergrad to grad with scholarships, loans etc. but I was even thinking about using the tuition plan at my job and going back for an MBA. I don't need it but it would help me to move up to a hospital management position. LOLLL Plus it wouldn't cost a thing!

Just FYI for anyone who newly filed AOS like us and wants to travel on the AP.....Dave got delayed in Miami earlier today and had to miss his connecting flight from JA. The customs agent at the POE said the "new" rules after January 1st is that you must bring both copies of your AP with you to travel back into the States.

They wanted him to have one to obviously give to them at the POE but they also wanted him to show that he had the other copy as well. Dave was kinda surprised since he had the proper documents but the agent said they like to see that the person traveling has both copies because once they take the first one, you no longer have an AP "on your person" in case something else were to happen during your "visit" to the States.

I know it sounds kinda crazy but i guess they have a point. Not everybody who's traveling on those AP's stays put the whole time they're waiting on the AOS to go through. We never really thought about that way because if you leave the states for a significant amount of time, they can consider the AOS app. abandoned, but this is what they told Dave.

Like I said, it's not a real important issue but just figured i would mention it for anyone who is new to the process or hasn't traveled in awhile. Dave said he was only held up for an extra 15min. or so but he DID have to take the NEXT plane.

Speaking of injections, this last trip in JA we were going down mister's road headed to Lucea and it's definitely not a main road so when I saw an ambulance with a team of 3 or 4 people inside I asked what happened. I was told that nothing happened but that the ambulance goes around once a month to 'jook' all the crazy people!

So, I guess that afternoon, there were a lot of sedated nutcases after that! (Oops! Is that an insensitive term? Of course I mean no harm by it.)

We booked a trip for November. We're thinking of staying a few days at Sunset JA Grande. Let me know how it is and if it's friendly for locals. You know how some places are!

From the infromation I've received already, it seems as if SJG's a good place for locals and tourists. I did hear about them being strict when it comes to people coming on the property (to the lobby area) that are not guests', but I'll have to see when I get there. I'll let you know.

SJG is fine for locals but they are pretty strict about making sure whatever locals are there, have armbands. When me & dave were there in Nov. the Day pass was $80 for locals and they have to be accompanied by someone who has a room there to get that. You won't see any locals on the property if they don't work there & it's not someone staying there. That wasn't a problem for us but alot of people got a rude awakening when they "met" someone and then tried to bring them up there to hang out....they got turned away.

All in all, it was a good place because of the location, the staff and the food was decent but they don't cater to locals at all, from what i saw.

GURL yes..I was about to go to urgent care like clarey suggested but I was drinking rum tea like crazy, then sleeping some more, wakin up in sweats and just drinkin more tea..It was over proof rum...I guess this stuff will kill bacteria in the thorat too cause my pus pockets are bout gone...I know claire will tell me to go get some anitbiotics but it's not sore anymore...iI know I'm a bad nurse but I do feel better.

Well on better news...I found a place for Kenny (YEAAAAAAAA!) It's not too far from where I live (maybe 10 mins.), nice lady renting a room. So, we just haffi gwaan wid dat til wi can move out hopefully by July! The good news is deh rent is about what I pay for my phone bill each month...so I know wi can manage it and save same time!

I said the same ting...mi nuh ting deh Auntie thought we were gonna get through!....'F' har!!!! Unfortunately, Sunny my father is not in support of this 'foolishness', so no Ken staying here wouldn't have been an option!

Depends upon how much you make Sunny. One interviewer did take those returns...SERIOUSLY!! She was like your SO OWES ALOT of TAXES EVERY YEAR and is barely able to take care of herself...

Just open an ING account now and start throwing whatever you can into! I get $$ back but my savings was pitiful. That's what I did...but they didn't even ask for the blasted bank statement!!!

I'm not too worried... Just because you owe taxes doesn't mean you can't take care of yourself, so I don't know where they got that from. lol For me, I simply prefer to have my money during the year. It's a shame you spend all that time preparing all your paperwork and then they don't even ask for it. Well, at least you saved some money girl...lol

LOL......Yeah, i thought that was kinda weird too cause plenty of people owe taxes who can certainly take care of themselves

They just didn't tax themselves hard enough over the course of the year and stuff like that but it still wouldn't change how much they EARNED for that year.

Guess that was the interviewer's way of trying to "imply" that anyone who owes taxes might be someone who has some sort of financial problems etc.....Probably wasn't the best thing to say LOL

I agree with you, I think the reason we liked SJG so much too is because we got a REALLY good rate for the 5 days but ur right about the "no room service" and stuff like that. They make it so u HAVE to eat all your meals at certain times and since i smoke cigarettes...I didn't like how you couldn't smoke in your room or really anywhere on the property but outside.

The food was decent and i enjoyed the beach, the pools and some of the entertainment....the bar in the main lobby was my favorite cause u could smoke cigarettes out there and here music 24-7

Overall, the best thing about SJG is the location and the fact that when it goes on sale, ur only paying about $100 a night for 2 people. Otherwise, I heard the RIU is the best all inclusive in Ochi....if you don't mind not being able to really Walk to anything close by.

The restraining order on HER sounds like a good idea right about now!

You always make good decisions so I'm sure you'll do whatever is comfortable for you and the kids without having to deal with her or the EX for that matter.

Agreed, I'm just hoping she's out grown the need for this thread, re: info regarding immigration and nothing else. She most likely wouldn't feel comfortable sharing anything else, here esp.

I agree Mich....she just called me last night and left me a message.....we talk a few times a week and nothing she sd on my answering machine sounded like someone in distress.

I'm thinking she closed her account for reasons related to something else. Some folks at her job got in trouble for being on the internet or something a few months ago so maybe she just "closed it" temporarily to prove a point so no one at work could see her sites, emails etc. from here on out.

If I talk to her tonight, I'll let u guys know if she's o.k. and that we're thinking about her in case she wants to talk.
