I totally agree with the above, my fiancee doesn't even drink. And as far as going to the bar or disco club, her family would either not allow her, or they would look greatly down on her, because her family is very traditional.

I am very thankful for finding this site, and all the help that everyone on here gives, but when I read posts like this, it really plays a mind game on me. Our relationship is as true as it gets, but with all the negative things that I read, it makes me feel like there is such a slim chance of any of us passing the interview. Then the thoughts cross my mind, what if? I don't even want to think about it, but the thought of her not passing the interview would just totally crush me and her. It should not be this way. We have discussed me coming there to live if they give her a hard time at the interview. We are just going to be as prepared as we can.

Things like this really make me angry. This is the reason why it makes it so hard for the people that are truly in love to get their Visa. I hope this won't make it tougher than it already was.

Hello Lan and Andy,

I have a Question Regarding the MEDICAL EXAM

DO you know if the exam has to be done in HCMC, or can my fiancee who lives in Hanoi go to the IOM in Hanoi? I wasn't sure if your instructions specifically stated it must be done in HCMC.

Thanks,
Mike & Huong

Asia: East and PacificQuestions for Landy

Here is some valuable information that I received through personal message fron Lan and Andy. I had sent them a message to further clarify some of the document questions we had. I wanted to share it all with you.

STL_HCMC

"Hi STL_HCMC,

This is Lan, Andy's sweetheart :)

I got 3 translated copies for each document.

You just need to bring the original copy of the documents you want to translate to the Notary Office. Make some copies of them. Suppose you want to have 3 translated copies, you need to give them 4 copies. They will keep 1 copy for evidence, the other 3 copies they will attach them to the translated copies with notarized stamps.

I got the police certificate and single status statement right after receiving packet 3. But it's ok to get these papers sooner too since they are valid for a year (and that is what required from US consulate too: the documents need to be obtained within the past year to the interview date)

###### luck to you two in the incoming interview

Lan and Andy
"

Are you saying we need to get three copies?

Asia: East and PacificWhat Originals to send?
Hello to my fellow journey men and women. I am still in the process of organizing and gathering everything I will send to my fiancee Huong. So many thoughts running thru my head about what needs to be sent. I have everything that I need, but just need clarification as to what originals I need to send, and what can just be copies. Here is a list of the ones in question:

W-2's
Bank statements showing balances, purchase of plane tickets, purchase of flowers, and phone cards
Pay Stubs
Cell Phone statements showing I dialed the access number

Do I need to reprint both of our G-325A forms, meeting and intent to marry, and the I-129F petition and sign them so she has originals of them?

Also should I print our and get a newer version of the Meeting and intenet to marry, and the I-134 and get them notarized?

Do I need a photocopy of all pages from my passport or just the ones with the Visa and stamps?

I know I need the original birth certificate, hand written letters, form I-134, mail receipts, hotel receipts, plane stubs, and etc..

Thanks for your help!!!!

Mike,
This information is pretty old, it dates back to 2001. The Visa fee was only $45.00. Who know what else has changed since then.
[ /quote]

Sorry, I didn't realize that. I was in a rush to go pick up my kids when I found that and just posted it. Some of the information is probably the same. I wish that we can get a copy of everything inside packet 3.

Dalegg, thanks for those documents posted. The lawyer I used, which I am not too happy with, filled that form out for me, and I included one notarized I-134 in my original and he also instructed me to make a copy before notarization, and get both notarized, and send the other one to my fiancee for her interview. I searched some lawyers online, and found a few that actually have some people located in both Hanoi and HCMC.

Asia: East and PacificLetter from kids and ex wife
Let me expalin the situation first. I got married very young, and have been divorced for over 10 years. I have a son 14 and a daughter 12. At first my ex wife and I did not get along well after our divorce, but after realizing that our kids were more important, we have become good friends. She has been married now for about 9 years, and I also get along well with her husband, because I have respect for him because he treats my kids very good. After my first visit to see Huong, and to see if we did have true love, I came home and gradually gave details to my ex wife, and my kids, because Huong bought my kids some gifts and they should know the person I fell in love with. Now, my kids and Huong email each other, as well as my ex wife. Today, after my kids got done speaking to Huong on the phone, and them telling me that they can't wait to meet her and her son, I started thinking. This is very important at her interview, and maybe if they wrote about our relationship and have them sign it in front of a notary, that it would be very good for her interview. Why would someone with a fraudulaent case get their kids involved in a fake realtionship? My kids would be totally crushed if she failed her interview, as well as Huon, her son, and me.

What are your thoughts?
If I was to do this, should I obtain both of their birth certificates for her interview?

Thanks for your comments!

4 months before Our engagement ceremony was supposed to be 100-120 about 1000.00 then the a week before it was about 225 1900.00 but when the day came 275. They had to bring in 5 more tables to get everybody seated. My cost was going to be 1900.00 but adding the 5 extra table's was another 500.00. And thank God no Credit cards were used. I brought extra cash with me just in case of something came up. But it was well worth it, She was so happy that all her family and friends were there. They had this 6 course dinner plan and we didn't even get a chance to eat. After we left we went back to the Hotel and order Room Service.

I was just looking at your photos of your engagement ceremony, and I think you fall into the same as me and Dalegg. Are you using any of these pictures of the engagement ceremony with Van in her white dress?

Also can someone tell me the difference between the ceremony for the engagement and a wedding, as far as what happens at the parents home? What is the engagement ceremony called and what is the wedding ceremony called? Any insight to this would greatly be appreciated.

I totally agree with you that some action needs to be taken towards this consulate in general. They do not seem to be fooling the guidlines that all the other consulate follow. It is unfair to our fiancees living there and it is unfair to us the US citizen. I think that the manner in which the consulate is running she be brought to the attention of whomever would be in charge of them. All of those who have been ignorantly denied the right for you and your loved one to be together, should take the necessary steps in order fo you and your loved one to be together.

I would also love living in Vietnam, and my fiancee asked me to come there and live several times, but like Dalegg said, I don't know how I would be able to support her there, because of the language barrier at first. I also agree about the driving, I would probalby hurt someone if I drove.

OK, so today the packet 3 arrived. My fiancee called me and said it is so big it will give her a headache. :D She is a little confused by it all.

My question is this: What do I have to provide to her to turn in when she mails the Packet 3 paperwork back to the Consulate? Is there actually anything she needs from me now? I have never been sure of what she needs with Packet 3 vs what she needs for the interview.

Thanks

My fellow jouneyman Matt, that was pretty quick. Did the Consulate ever respond to your email about when they received it? Our petition sent there only 2 weeks after your's. I have been gathering our eveidence the past few weeks, and it is a major project, ecspecially organizing it well so she can find things easy. I think the only thing she needs to return is DS230 part 1 and the checklist.

Matt,

This might be a situation worth emailing the US Consulate in HCMC about. Ask if female exaiminers can be requested.

You could also have your fiancee try contacting the department at Cho Ray Hospital or the International Organization for Migration in HCMC that does the medical. Perhaps they can be more specific about the request.

STL_HCMC

My fiancee is TERRIFIED of doctors. Especially male doctors. If she has to allow a male doctor to see her naked, then I think she might flat out refuse unless she can have her mother with her.

So now what?

can my Fiancee get her medical done at the IOM located in Hanoi? That would be so great.

Hello my fellow HCMC Journey men and women. My fiancee's father went to the Department of Justice in Hanoi this week to ask about the Police certificate and single status papers, since my fiancee must work from 8:00 am to 7:pm during these past few weeks. They told him they are out of these papers, and that the police certificate will have a new form. They told him they will get the new forms soon, but no date given. So what should she do? I guess the only thing she can do is wait. I hope I understood her correctly and if so, make sure that those of you going thru HCMC gets the new form.

I wish I can be there to explain to her better what she needs. I will give her the consulates phone number tonight and she will call them to make sure that she does everything right.

OK, HERE IS THE TRUTH in regards to form 1722.

Download form 4506-T and request your transcript via 1722 and you will get a stamped transcript from the IRS.

The problem is the IRS pushed this form back, prefering the automated, unstamped transcripts. But they did not discontinue 1722. It took me an hour on the phone with 5 different reps to get to the truth.

I still don't understand completely. Is this form 1722 for people who did not file, or is this just the same transcript but stamped by them?I have filed taxes for the last 15 years, so do I need this? Bruce and han did not need this form so is this for non filing people only?

When you order them over the phone, they do not give you that option anymore. I know because I called.

Unless I missed something.

THey do have an automated system, but if you wait for all the options, at the end it says if you have not heard what you are looking for stay on the line, then you can speak to an operator. I just did that last week and the lady told me 3 times, It is a VERIFICATION OF NON FILING, and they no longer provide this form, but she could have given me information where I could have gotten one. I filed taxes for the last 12 years, so I didn't get the information. I should have gotten it anyway and posted it, I am sorry I wasn't thinking.

I just contacted the IRS about form 1722 and she told me that this form is a verification form for not filing. What I am thinking is that maybe you did not provide 2005 as evidence and they are requestiong this form, which the woman told me that they do not provide this any more. She told me that some other offices may still have these. I would suggest calling the IRS and speak to someone. You just hold on the phone until an operator answers. Ask her where you can obtain these forms.

I really hope you can get this resolved, and I hope this information helps in your process. DON"T GIVE UP!!!!

Way ahead of you. I immediately emailed asking about the 1722 and informing them the IRS has discontinued its use and to please advise me as to what else would be acceptable.

I also described to them the new automated process by which you can get your tax transcripts from the IRS.

It just amazes me that A US CONSULATE doeesn't even know about what forms are available. If this office was located in the US I believe that there would not be so much inconsistency. They need to get there ####### together, or get staff in there that knows what they are doing.

In regards to the employment letter, I submitted one with my original petition. It was on company letterhead, and stated I am a full time permanent employee for since 1994, with my current hourly rate. In a previous post it mentions about a valid business license. Should my companies license number be on the letter or as long as they have one?

Asia: East and PacificNOA2 until interview.. How much time for HCMC, Vietnam process

The best thing to do is look at the list of Vietnam Members in the pinned topic above and take a look at some of the timelines. Most people on that list have their timelines pinned.

In general, the NVC gets your case sent to the HCMC consulate within 2 weeks after NOA2. I've seen the consulate take a full month before confirming receipt.

About 5 weeks later your fiance will get pack 3. She should send back the correct forms the next day- if not that same day.

About 2 months later she'll get pack 4 with an interview date, which will be about 1 month later.

I totally agree with this. Our petition left NVC on March 30, and tracking it on DHL, it arrived at HCMC on April 3. I emailed them on the 10th, and received a reply back on April 24 stating they received the electronic file, but they could not confirm the actual file being there. Next week will be a month, and I am hoping that they will send out packet 3. Like Dalegg said, I have noticed some recent VN friends, receive their Packet 3 about 4 or 5 weeks, after they receive the package.

We are so used to this way of living but it is so new to them, and it will take a while for them to figure everything out. I always wondered if they accessed your email and listened in on phone calls, but always thought it would be a privacy issue bigtime. Did they actually go in and read certain emails, or did they just see if emails were in your inbox? I don't have a problem either way, because we have probably emailed each other about 200 times. I am totally suprised also, that they didn't know. Here is why it was so hard to communicate this, because she did not know if they provided the form, or if she needed to bring it, as well as what she needs to do when she orders it. She is first going to go to the US embassy in Hanoi and with the information you provided, I hope when she goes to the Department of Justice today for this paper, they will finally understand this. Mike and Huong,

When you say THEM/THEY, who are they? Local Police? Worse comes to worse, she needs to travel to HCMC for this paper. But I do not believe "THEY" don't know/hear anything about it... You're correct, there aren't too many of viet-girls marry an american in Ha Noi. Just make sure to clarify who are they?

She needs to go to "SO TU PHAP" of Ha Noi, or the Police District to obtain "Gi?y Xác Nh?n Không Ph?m Pháp". On her packet-4, they should tell her exactly what she needs from "S? T? Pháp" also.

Thanks for replying back. She called the police district in her province, and they have not heard of this paper. We are both very worried about this paper now, because she needs to make sure she gets the correct paper, or they will not except it. Could some one please help us? If someone could post an example of this paper, it would be so greatly appreciated. She is going to go to the US embassy in Hanoi tomorrow, and hopefully they can clarify this for her, but I am not sure if they will know what to tell her since they don't do the interviews there. She can't go to HCKC for this paper, because it must be done in her province. Does packet three include the form they will fill out? Or is there instructions in Packet 3 in Vietnamese that she could take to the Justice or Police, and they will understand. I hope this will not what stops us from getting the Visa :help:
